Clomid TTC

Hi all,

I wondered if anyone who is currently TTC with Clomid fancied joining a TTC thread? I've had a look and can't see a recent one.

My husband and I have been trying for approx 2 years. I have PCOS and also had a congenital uterine defect (complete septum) which was operated on and fixed in November 2021.

We paid for a private appointment with a gynaecologist yesterday who prescribed 6 months of Clomid. I'm starting off cycle 1 with 50mg and will have a transvaginal ultrasound around CD 10-14.

My period is due in about 3 weeks but ofc with PCOS this is approximate and it might be early/late. My consultant also prescribed norithesterone to bring on a period if it's delayed. I'm tempted to start it soon so I can get cracking with Clomid - patience isn't my strong point!

Would be great to hear from anyone else in a similar position and hopefully share our BFPs in the coming months. TTC can be a lonely time and I've decided to not tell my family/friends about Clomid as it upsets me too much when I have to tell them I'm still not pregnant.

I have been burned so many times with bad tests and evaps so I’m going to pop out for a FRER today and really hoping this is my month. 🥹 I am 50mg, thought I was going to have to up my dosage due to my long cycle but maybe this is the reason why? Got my fingers crossed I’ll update you all 🤞🤞🤞🤞 how are you getting on?? @lucymc11

Think it was a false alarm (again). Nothing on a FRER! How cruel 😣

@TTCX2 did you use fmu for the FRER??

Hey @Harper02 I did, it’s the strangest thing. I’ve had more positives today with the wee strips but nothing on a ‘fancy’ test. This was this mornings!

I just don’t believe them until I get something on a proper test, but they’re definitely there 🤷🏻‍♀️

absolutely nothing on a cheapie and FRER this morning. Totally gutted and feel like throwing in the towel (how dramatic 🤣) just can’t be bothered with more months of this!

What brand are your cheapies? That's terrible if they give you false positives quite frequently!

Thanks @lucymc11 🤞. These are Wondfos (I used these when I found out I was pregnant with me wee girl!) but I’ve also had bad tests with Easy@home too. You’ll see earlier in the thread my FRER last month. Not sure if I’m incredibly unlucky or just keep having chemicals! With my period nowhere to be seen I’m going to have to ask for Provera to kick start things back up again!

I’m on CD11 after first cycle of clomid… when did everyone ovulate? Going for a scan on CD13, do I DTD before then or wait to see what the consultant says??

Oh @Harper02 im so sorry, that’s so tough! Hope you’re ok and be extra kind to yourself. My best friend is due any day now and it’s not easy when you’re trying.

hi @toadinthehole1 im not 100% sure as I don’t use OPKs but with my first cycle I scans and think I ovulated around day 18. We waited before our scan just to make sure we were ok to go ahead as you’ll know clomid can produce multiples 🫣🤣

@toadinthehole1 have you been using OPKs? By the time day 13 comes around I normally have my peak

I'm currently only CD4 and it's my first cycle taking Clomid (taking it between CD2-6)! Originally thought I wasn't going to be able to take it this cycle as I'm going on holiday CD10 but my gynaecologist has booked me in for a scan on CD8 to check I'm responding ok.

Has anyone else really struggled with the side effects? I've got the worst headaches, brain fog and nausea. Don't want to complain as I know I'm lucky to be prescribed Clomid but they're a lot worse than I thought they'd be ...

Yeah that’s what I’m worried about!! I don’t use OPKs either (yet) but don’t want to miss the window! I think I’ll play it safe and wait for the scan 🤣😳

Ah poor you - I’ve been lucky with no side effects. Are you on 50mg or higher?

@lucymc11 I really struggle with the side effects, they last the whoooole cycle for me. I don't cope very well with the mental/emotional side effects

my default is to be quite hormonal and up and down mood wise, so anything tablet hormone related just totally heightens that 🫣 hope you’re ok @lucymc11 and good luck with your first cycle!!

@TTCX2 thsy deffo looks like a BFP to me and it’s the same strips they use to confirm at drs, are you doing 1st pee of the day undiluted with the more expensive tests? Fingers firmly crossed for you, how Nancy cycles have you done?

Yhis whole process seems to be a marathon doesn't it I’m the same as you hormones always all over the place in normalcy circumstances and heightened with anything else that disturbs the hormones

I started my 1st cycle back in JULY!!! period kept threatening to come and never did, waited a little while longer then spotted for two weeks still no period so bit the bullet and taken provera im on day 8 so should expect a bleed in around a week then I can start cycle 2

can’t believe how long this has taken to get going with cycle 2 again I feel clomid has messed my cycle up as I was fairly regular leading up to taking clomid, but we go again soon 🤞🏻

hope everyone else is doing ok on this crazy journey and just remember you’re not alone in all of this we’re all experiencing something crazy but fingers crossed for us all xxx

Hey @Jadeybabes86 thanks for taking a look. I was so convinced that was it too! The wondfo strips lightened and nothing on a FRER so think I’m out- I have some Easy@home being delivered today so will confirm with these over the next few days. This is my 2nd cycle of Clomid, unless I’m pregnant which is looking unlikely, my period hasn’t arrived so my clinic have prescribed 100mg for me next cycle and some Provera to kick start things so just have to triple check I’m not pregnant before I start.

how annoying for you your cycle to be so long this time, hope the Provera does the trick and you can get back to cycle 2!! I was excited cycle one but going into cycle three I just dread the waiting!
