Well we have just made the scary decision to ttc at 40! I have an appointment for my contraceptive removing next month!!
We have older dc and it just feels like the last chance, before age well and truly takes over! Is anyone else here similar age? Have you managed to get that bfp? I’m nervous that we’ve left it a little too late!

I got married at 40, had my first at 41 second at 43, conceived after about four months trying each time. I'm certainly not the oldest mum - a friend had her first (snd last) at 46 - she married at 29 and took a 'if it happens it happens' approach, so was surprised it did after so long waiting! Another at 45 after being told her age and PCOS made it extremely unlikely she would get pregnant so she relaxed her birth control then boom. Several more in early 40s, only one with any assistance (IVF).
So you never know. I was dead regular with my periods and that made it easier to know fertile window.

@Lauraliverpool I actually didn’t use strips - I had been inputting my cycle into my Fitbit! And it told me my fertile days Shock
Must’ve worked !
I tried before the “fertile days” too as the sperm can be there a while? Maybe the middle 3 days .every day ?
But quite honestly, I think it was just keeping regular.
And DH took conception vitamins too so he was tip top.
Best of luck to you Star

@Yellowsubhubabubbub thank you, I was using the clear blue ovulation tests and then stopped, thinking of starting them again. That's good that your fit bit does that isn't it? Hubby was taking wellman vitamins as well so will ask him to start them again, I've been taking high dose folic acid, vitamin E, omega fish oil, vitamin C with zinc and have got seven seas trying for a baby. Concerned that doing all this is a waste of time as my periods seem to be a lot lighter so that makes me think the lining is not thick enough for an egg to implant.

@ukborn thank you so much for sharing, it is so nice to hear your and your friend's story. It gives me hope! I have been trying to conceive for the last 2 years. I am 42. Sadly, we suffered pregnancy loss last week. Was there anything that you have done to prepare yourself for a successful pregnancy? x

Hi I am 43 and currently pregnant with my second 23 weeks. I had my first DS at 41. I took folic acid before trying and cut back on drinking and caffeine. It look a while to conceive with the second pregnancy but also convince my DH! About 10 months I was convinced it wouldn't happen.
It's been a good so far just chasing after a toddler is exhausting. I now take pregnancy vitamins just Asda own I checked with my midwife they have all the correct vitamins but are cheaper. Hope that helps anyone trying and the best of luck to you all

Hello,
Introducing myself here :) I’m 41 and we are etc after a vasectomy reversal (6+m ago) neither have had kids and I’m now doing the clear blue ovulation tests but fear we may have left it a bit late. Anyway, preparing for a bumpy ride :/ hope everyone is doing well, what a strange place this is (where I am not this page) I’ve never really thought about my fertility so much before and it’s making me very aware of my body and life in general.

@CherylPorter350

I'm 41 and DH is having a vasectomy reversal this Friday so we can TTC. 40 is the new 20...so I tell myself.

Seriously, lots of women 40+ having babies now. My mum had my brother at 43.

Good luck

I may be in a similar boat to you :)

@mrsmb03 yes the miscarriage is over. So many ups and downs since. Thinking yes I want to try, but then too scared. I’ve had my first period since and it lasted 12 days! I started to worry but everything was ok. Wr need to start trusting in our bodies. I’m so sorry you are in the same situation. Brighter days are ahead xxx

@Nik84 1st period 12 days? Woooh. Do you think that it was that long and that much because you still had your uterine lining to shed? Sorry I didn't realise your post was back in early february. MC is a very painful and at times isolating experience. I don't know why it isn't talked about more in real life. Could help us all in handling it better and knowing what to expect etc Wish you well. x

Hi everyone, can I join in?
I am 40, and ttc. My son is nearly 17 so we have been trying for another baby for roughly 15 years! I can’t remember the exact time we started (it is a long time ago!), but I know my son was about 1.5-2 years.
I think now I have turned 40 I have started to panic thinking that it is never going to happen now but I still really really hope!
I also have PCOS and some other health problems which increase the risk of miscarriage :(
It’s great to read that some of you are over 40 and have fallen pregnant, it gives me a bit of hope xxx

I've been trying for a 2nd for 7 years. Over 40 we have a 5% chance per menstrual cycle. Better than zero I suppose!

@Yellowsubhubabubbub what fitbit do you have? Do all the fitbit's enable you to track your periods?

Ladies I really don’t mean to boost I just want to say I am 42 and pregnant with my third. My advice is to relax as much as you can and don’t focus too much on making it a chore to fall pregnant.(easier said bother done I’m sure). Sending baby dust. Never give up hope x

@Lauraliverpool I had the old versa 2 and upgraded to the inspire 2 - the data from the app stayed the same.
You put in WHEN you’re menstruating and approx how many days your cycle is : and then it’ll become more accurate with more data x
