Well we have just made the scary decision to ttc at 40! I have an appointment for my contraceptive removing next month!!
We have older dc and it just feels like the last chance, before age well and truly takes over! Is anyone else here similar age? Have you managed to get that bfp? I’m nervous that we’ve left it a little too late!

Hi ladies.
I'm TTC #1 and I'll be 41 in June. My partner is 43. Had a chemical pregnancy in November. Been trying for 7 months now. It's been emotionally draining. I'm currently in my 2WW. I'm approximately 6DPO. I don't have any pregnancy tests at home so that's stopping me from testing frantically like I always do lol.

Looking to do IVF if nothing happens by April.

@IsabelHerna thank you ♥ have a bit of a cold so feeling rubbish. Have started with some backache which I usually get a few days before AF but will see. Hope you're OK. X

Thank you @IsabelHerna. I'm about 10dpo and have very similar symptoms last month which led to AF coming (pain in breast, twinges)😫. Praying this time is different.
I went crazy the last couple of months with testing so I'm really holding out this time! ❤️❤️

Whoop I can finally join in ! TTC at 42 (partner is 32) this will be my third child. Elder two are 14 & 17 !!
We did TTC briefly early last year but partner got cold feet and we stopped. I had a miscarriage im dec just gone, but hadn’t realised I was pg. now we are officially TTC and both hearts are in it :) although he’s stating we are having unprotected sex and letting nature take its course not actively ttc lol (!)

Good luck everyone!

@Lauraliverpool and @TTCat40 how are you progressing ladies?

I am officially on a countdown to my ivf, travelling for a fresh cycle in 2 weeks! I am excited and stressed and in general all over the place! Yesterday I started packing... 16 days before my travel!

@IsabelHerna good luck! I know exactly how you're feeling, I really will have everything crossed for you ♥ I'm OK, decided to do a cheap test last night pretty sure it was negative, got the telltale signs of AF starting properly in the next few days, debating on whether to start ovulation testing again and I've seen these clear blue lubricant tubes so don't know whether to get some as well.

Good luck OP, all you can do is to try to be healthy as possible. I tried ttc over 40, gave up after 3 years but many of my friends have been successful, might new a few attempts though

Well girls, AF showed up today, so have been trying the ovulation tests again and I've saw in boots clear blue lubricant so debating on whether to give that a whirl too?

Just to say, I had ds at 37 and then started trying again when he was 18 months ( advice from midwife due to c section ).

Took over two years and a few chemicals but got pg with ds 3 at 40 and delivered him just before 41st birthday.

I consider myself lucky with that considering I was peri menopausal within a year of having him and in full menopause by about 46.

Good luck to all ttc on here, youngest dc is now 9 and I'm 50 - he keeps me young!

Yes, I had DS at 37, I'm now 40 and in the second trimester with my second. It took me around 4 months to conceive this time round.
All the best to you all!

40 and ttc post mmc in November. Now on 2WW. But DH was away for a night or 2 that my dates say were high chance.
Not using any tests yet for ovulation but will if no luck in next few cycles. I got pregnant very easily with the one I lost, 1st cycle.

I was 38 when DC was born.
Was a bit more dicey, I’ll be honest.
We tested high for Downs So we’ve decided not to have any more,as we feel this was us sneaking a healthy baby in already.
I tracked my ovulation and had sex every other day. Took us about 4/5 months.

I had my first at just 37 and am almost 21 weeks with my second at 40 and I have had 3 miscarriages along the way, the first was at age 35. I am lucky and conceived very very quickly with all those pregnancies but sadly lost a fair few of them too.

Sunnierdays7 · 04/03/2022 08:24

@Mattieandmummy your journey is very similar to mine. I am 42 and about 4 weeks. Very anxious. Did you get a lot of sickness ? X

Report
Mattieandmummy · 04/03/2022 09:38

@Sunnierdays7 with my first two pregnancies, yes very sick - throwing up at least twice a day and one of those babies is now three years old and i lost the other. With the last three pregnancies, nausea but not actually throwing up and one of those is my current pregnancy so I'm not sure there is a link between viability and level of sickness in my case at least.

@Lauraliverpool Thank you so much for your message, and I'm sorry this wasn't your month. ❤ The tube sounds interesting, even though I trully have no idea what that might be 😅 But if you can use both the tube and the ovulations sticks go for it.

Lauraliverpool · 04/03/2022 20:47

@IsabelHerna that's ok! ♥ It's okay I didn't think it would be! I've never seen this clear blue lubricant, supposed to be sperm friendly etc, opposed to normal lubricants which can damage sperm etc. Thought I'll give them another go!

@Yellowsubhubabubbub can I ask with the ovulation tests, did you wait until you got your high days to start, and then when you got the peak when did you stop?

No luck yet, been referred to the facility specialist (NHS).
Good luck X

Magnesium and Fertility
In a number of studies, women with infertility have been found to have low levels of magnesium in their blood, and in a small study infertile women who were supplemented with magnesium and selenium all became pregnant within 8 months.18 Dec 2019

Also the thyroid can cause issues, IIRC. But try Magnesium, it’s required for 300 body processes, it’s like a miracle supplement and most people are deficient due to low levels in soil. Selenium is v important too, and anti carcinogenic.

I’m 39 and have no DC but would love 1 (or 2) but I have Tokophobia due to previous abuse, I don’t see how I can ever do it 😔

Low Magnesium is also associated with higher risk of miscarriage, as is low Vit D.
