Here we go! Thread 14 for the nicest bunch of women on Mumsnet

Thread 13 was very joyful and very painful for me, but what it has shown me is that even old warhorses like me can get lucky, so there's no excuse for all you nubile young honies not to deliver the goods! Come on now, Mama Hester expects you to do your duty by your fellow ttc-ers

Get ready now, 1 - 2 - 3, GO!!!

I did the test...no immediate line and ds was crying so I went over to him to see if he was alright (about 3.3pm ish....) then after a while I went back to the test (6pm ish) and there was a skinny faint positive......can I hope???? besides myself with fear as it such early days so scared etc etc.....could it really be pos??

jeddah · 02/12/2004 19:08

GIRLS!!!!!!!!!!
Iam cd19 today using persona for the first time and guess what.........
BIG FAT 'O' on my monitor this morning!!!!!!!!!
was ready for work.....but jumped back into the bed with dh !!!!! I was late for work and told them the traffic was arwful!!!!!
So bd for us everyday for the next few days! Then the big bloody wait

Minnzieb.........the monitor asks you to test on day 6.....then a few days later.

When you first start usung it the 2 boxes of stcks has to be the same batch number (although like hester, bit cynical about that!)if they weren't I really do not think it would matter at all!!!!!!

I have used alot of machines when I was nursing and you have to enter the code number of sticks into the machines....with the persona you don't.....so the machine doesn't know!!!!

Hula so sorry about the BFN it still could be too early!!

Marinda.. sorry mate!

Welcome to the newies!!!!!!!! good luck

BECKS........Where are you....you alright??

jeddah · 02/12/2004 19:10

Geordie!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!
In my book.... a line, is a line!!!!!!!!
Can you bear to leave it a few days and test again!??

geordie · 02/12/2004 19:11

but i had left the test for 2 hours...can i trust the result??

Hollybaby · 02/12/2004 19:23

Looking positive for you there Geordie - a line is a line and all that . Fingers crossed. Try again at the weekend, and hopefully it'll be stronger. Good luck!

Wifeof · 02/12/2004 19:30

Geordie, if you've got another test why not do it with 1st wee and read it at the stated time, then you'll know. Best of luck xxxxxxx

Hester, LOL at pinning my dh down! If you'd ever met him you'd understand why I'm laughing so much..... (BTW, the docs at the time told him not to worry as although his jingles were swollen the product should be safe IYKWIM!)

geordie · 02/12/2004 19:34

grrr run out of tests so off out to get one for the am.....not sure what will be reliable at 10 dpo...af due on sunday so I will be 2 days before but there's no way i'll be able to wait....

any suggestions for which test i should get??

Hulababy · 02/12/2004 19:40

Don't get the Clear Blue digital. That's what I have used and I don't like it. I prefer that whole scanned for faint lines personally, rather than the digital display. Maybe that's just me!

Isn't there some specially for early testing?

Wifeof · 02/12/2004 19:42

First Response?

I did post a link to a site which listed all the tests by their sensitivity. I think it's on ttc13; I found it by googling 'pregnancy tests' so maybe that will help?

morningpaper · 02/12/2004 19:43

Hi Hollybaby, did not get AF after all, am now officially going mad. Can't believe I have got so worked up as to put my whole cycle out of kilter. Am crazy lady. Talked to dh about it tonight and he was really nice, saying its understandable etc. I think he is glad that it's not his body fecking things up. ;) Didn't get OV pain this month which is really unusual so maybe I just didn't ovulate. Need to remove belly and replace with double-glazed window so I can see what's going on with my ovaries. xxx

Hulababy · 02/12/2004 19:47

LOL morningpaper, me and you both! I haven't had any AF pains either - did get some bizarre all over tummy cramps (very odd and not like usual AF pains) but have has some other symptoms - backache, tired, feeling groggy, a bit achy, etc. Nothing particularly but as a big picture maybe signs that AF is on way - but late.

Another cruel twist of nature to drive us completely round the ben.

Good luck morningpaper. Hope it really is your month afterall. Give it some more days and test again.

morningpaper · 02/12/2004 19:51

It really IS cruel isn't it? I am really pissed off with my stupid body.

I have been tired with backache for about 2 years so that's nothing new.

Hulababy · 02/12/2004 20:06

That's my problem you see. I have had backache on and off for a while now - think I need a new mattress, but keep reading different signs into every twinge this past few days.

Did you test then? What test did you use?

morningpaper · 02/12/2004 20:10

I used that Early Response test on day 24 and 26 (I think it was) - both negative.

Today I used Clear Blue at about 8am.

All say NOOOOOOOOOOo.

I've got one Clear Blue left - shall I test first thing in the morning?

Or just smoke it?

Hulababy · 02/12/2004 20:20

How many DPO are you? Reckon you can wait until the weekend?

I am on CD31. IF I did OV I reckon it was on CD17 - so 14DPO today. I used a Clear Blue digital, but don't like it. Prefer the ones where you read the lines yourself. I did manage to drop one stick in sink (full of water - oooops)and render it unusable - eek! Have one left - wll use it at weekend if still no AF I guess.

With DD I didn't test until a week or late.

morningpaper · 02/12/2004 20:23

With dd I tested at day 20 and it was a clear positive, so I'm not really holding out any hope that I am anything other than STRESSED OUT. I expect that I am 15 days PO but I didn't check at all (will use OPKs next month).

geordie · 02/12/2004 20:29

Hula and MP- really hope that af staying away is a good thing...and is not that she hurries up and gets on with it!

Tearing ourselves to shreds here...did another test (I know cyber slap me) and I have previously done three of these tests over the last few months....and none of these has ever had any line at all. The second test tonight had no line at 10 mins but has a line now....grrrrr so both tests developed lines after the test time (i think)...but this has never happenned to me before (never had an evap line on this brand of test)...so I don't know what to think...am I just clutching at straws do you think??

anyway dh gone to supermarket to get a pack of first response tests for the morning....I really hope that I can post a bfp then.

marinda · 02/12/2004 20:31

Hi ladies

looked at your message Hester about how some people get pg at unusal times - like very start or very beginning of cycle. Unfortunately, my DH can only really manage it 2 days on the trot then has to wait 48 hours !- so each month I only get 3-4 goes from him (over the fertile period). Someone suggested Zinc improves this but I keep saying to him he should go to Dr's and get Viagra. Any suggestions anyone ?

Hulababy · 02/12/2004 20:42

Have my fingers and toes crossed for you. I'll be logging on first thing just to see. Really hope it is your time!

morningpaper · 02/12/2004 20:43

Hi Marinda,
zinc is good for sperm count but, to be honest, I think that your DH is giving it a very good performance! (Unless he is 17)

Viagra is generally only prescribed on the NHS for men who have extreme medical/psychological need for it - although you can of course buy it over the internet (although this is obviously ahighly dubious practice).

marinda · 02/12/2004 20:53

Thanks morning paper for the advice, I honestly thought that we wre "underperforming" should I say. DH is 37 with fairly stressful job so maybe this is a factor. Blo**dy frustrating. Might go to DR's and ask for blood test. Good luck to you anyway. Will watch the space!

jeddah · 02/12/2004 21:24

hula, geordie, morningpaper....just to say that, there is hope for you all yet.

I read quite alot of preggers charts on FF and loads had no line at 14dpo, even at 16dpo....but then!.....had lines at 18dpo!!!!!! So what I am trying to say is.......don't give up hope yet!!! we are all counting on you guys.........

Can I just ask anyone........when you get an O' on your persona....how often do you bd?????
We have been bding every other day since cd9 now I am cd19.......had bd this morning as had read the persona with the 'O' .........what do you suggest now (frequency etc etc etc)

morningpaper · 02/12/2004 21:43

Thanks Jeddah for glimmer of hope.

For the next two days I am coordinating the church christmas fete with about twenty 90 year-olds so that will take my mind off things.....! (When I mentioned recently that there was no disposal unit in the ladies toilet they looked at me like I was MAD - then I realised I was the only person menstruating... Makes me appreciate that really this IS a really good time of my life, and I'll undoubtedly look back on it as the best time, even though it's a rollercoaster!

morningpaper · 02/12/2004 21:45
