Here we go! Thread 14 for the nicest bunch of women on Mumsnet

Thread 13 was very joyful and very painful for me, but what it has shown me is that even old warhorses like me can get lucky, so there's no excuse for all you nubile young honies not to deliver the goods! Come on now, Mama Hester expects you to do your duty by your fellow ttc-ers

Get ready now, 1 - 2 - 3, GO!!!

footstep · 17/11/2004 12:45

hello - mind if I join you?

I started the original due in feb thread, but then m/c'd at 10 weeks in July. I feel a bit of a fraud on mumsnet, since i'm ttc #1, so i've only really lurked since, but hester's lovely positive post has inspired me to speak up.

It took ages for my periods to return after the m/c so i'm now nearing the end of my second cycle since. AF is due on friday and I am going mad - i went to boots twice yesterday intending to buy a test, but then managed to talk myself out of it both times.

I have sore boobs and cramps, and my temp is still high but then the symptoms could be 'cause of impending AF and my temp sometimes doesn't drop until the day AF arrives. Argh!

lots of luck to everybody.

Hello Footstep - great to have you on board! Don't even worry about the ttc#1 thing being a problem, loads of us are in the same boat and we all find these threads invaluable.....fab to have another old hand along for the ride!

I know it;s hard but don't test yet - I just did that and now I'm sitting here thinking "why the hell did I do that??". Hold out as long as you can!

ernest · 17/11/2004 13:01

hi footstep, I'm due on Friday too. My plan is to go shopping at the last minute on Suturday & give the tests straight to dh so I can't go crazy. i reckon if af doesn't arrive on friday, testing sunday morning should show a def. result. we could do it together. i'm just gonna have to avoid the shops til sat night or I won't be able to stop myself.

Anyway, I wouldn't give a 2nd thought about being a 'fraud' this thread is about ttc, so you're just as valid as the next person & of course, the whole of mumsnet - after all a lot of it seems to be probs with mil & broken washing machines anyway, lol

oh & thanks twiga, enjoy the film

good luck & fingers crossed xxx

MrsFogi · 17/11/2004 13:08

Hi Footstep, I feel the same about the fraud thing (so sometimes I just lurk). I'll join this tread - I was on a couple of them agest ago (no 7,8 or 9 I think) and have been lurking since. I've been ttc no 1 for 19 months and had a m/c in June. I'm on cd 13 and usually ovulate on day 20ish but this month I'm getting the feeling I ovulated on day 11 so am very frustrated as dh and I may have missed the boat this month.

BeckiF · 17/11/2004 13:25

Any ideas what htis low stabbing pain couild be? It's ver low but when I get the pain it stabs into my upper pubic area too?? Your thoughts?

Nikkichik · 17/11/2004 13:36

Totally off the thread, but I just saw Briget Jones - very amusing but surprisingly short. It wasn't quite as I remember the book but I did read it quite a long time ago and can't check now cos it's in storage with all my other books!!! I will say that I was disappointed as they made Brige look more ridiculous than necessary and Renee's posh English accent was a little over the top!!
Anyway, I digress. Baby dust to all!

sweetheart · 17/11/2004 13:36

Runtus,

Sorry been out for a girlie lunch - and you know how us ladies can chat!!!!

I knew you'd give in!!!!!!!! The temptation is always too much

Sorry it was a BFN - I had such high hopes. Well hold in there - at least you have the Clomid to look forward to.

RudyDudy · 17/11/2004 13:38

Hi all

Thanks for a lovely new thread hester

I'm CD2 on cycle 2 of ttc #2 - loony bit of brain thinks I should read something into that...saner bit shouting "stop it you crazy cow!"

Beckif - could the pain be related to your PCOS? I get pain like that either around Ov time or AF - mine's always in a very specific place on the right which is where I know my endo was before my lap. don't know if it's more endo or scar tissue from the op. Sorry not to be more help but on a +ve note it may mean that there's 'something' going on in there and it may be good. Fingers crossed for you on this cycle.

Have just worked out if I Ov around 21/22 then I'll be due to test around Christmas Eve! Now, wouldn't that be a nice present to wrap up for DH

Thanks again Hester - lots of lovely babydust to you and us all ~~~~~~~~*~

MINNIE1 · 17/11/2004 13:54

footstep,
Sorry for your loss, I m/c in june also TTC#1... My AF is 35/36 days each month are yours this long???

runtus · 17/11/2004 15:51

I have to admit I have already been down the whole mental conversation about wrapping up a positive pg test for dp this christmas. I even got down to the details like, which test to use (Clear Blue was my choice in the end, as he would get confused by the other less obvious brands!)....needless to say I would love to be able to do that but it's all in the lap of the gods really. Especially if I never come on and can't take my bloody Clomid!!!!

Was talkng to a mat e on Sunday (in fact, the same mate that alerted me to the long cycle = no ov issue) and she mentioned that we worked out she has come on 3 times since I did last!

Marina · 17/11/2004 15:54

Wishing you all the very best especially Hester for getting back in the saddle so resolutely.
I was pregnant with dd, now one, within nine weeks of our son Tom's premature stillbirth, so I'm another one who proves you can be very fertile just after losing a baby (and I was an old codger of 39 please note).
A hefty sprinkle of sparkly Winter babydust to you all XXX

RudyDudy · 17/11/2004 16:17

Jeddah / Tania - spinach contains zinc and is high in folic acid - both of which are good for the little swimmers. no idea what amounts are required to make a difference but let's just say last time around i fed DH a LOT of spinach and something worked Asparagus is another good source, as are lentils - so it's lentil and spinach curry for us from now on!!!

Twiga · 17/11/2004 17:14

Welcome Footstep, sorry to hear about your mc, I mc in July too and am also ttc#1 as are quite a few on here so don't feel a fraud x Nice to see you as well Mrsfogi +++++++++++++++++++++to you both, lol x

MunzieB, Bridget was ok, not quite as good as the first one, but very funny and definately worth seeing. Nikkichik, you're right it is very short - they cut a lot out of the book ie her interviewing Colin Firth about Pride and Predjuidce (for obvious reasons) and the whole bit about her mum and una going to Africa - looks like they decided to focus on the love story with Bridget and Mark for the film. Godd girlie flick!

Right, better go and get started on the Bolognese...........

Munnzieb · 17/11/2004 17:44

thanks twiga, I think a girlie night is in order! woohooo!

anyways, Hi to all the new guys i'm on #1 as well, these guys are the best bunch of women when it comes to advice, (someone here's gotta know! lol) any ways, just a quick stop Bro is down for the weekend so i'll only be postin from work.

RudyDudy · 17/11/2004 17:48

well, a lovely surprise for me DH has come home early so I have some time to read all the postings - this thread has grown sooo quickly!

Big welcome and lots of babydust to MrsFogi and Footstep . Don't worry about feeling a fraud - sometimes I do for being so anxious about ttc #2 when I'm fortunate enough to already have a gorgeous DS - we all have something we worry about!

Good luck to ernest & footstop for friday - a graduate by the end of the week would be a great start to the thread!

bonkerz - you must be knackered . fingers crossed this is your lucky cycle.

Runtus - impressed by your level of thinking but wouldn't he realise what it was anyway? surely he wouldn't think you'd wrap up a BFN???

Happy Birthday to your lo ernest.

hester · 17/11/2004 18:47

Welcome Footstep - you'll find this thread is lovely AND lucky

Thanks so much everyone for your lovely warm messages. Marina, it meant a lot to me to read your post.... thanks for giving me hope.

Have today got blood results back from hospital - very unsurprisingly, HCG levels coming down fast. Yet they still want to see me for another scan at the end of the week. Seems complete overkill to me, but I'll do what I'm told. I feel completely wiped out physically - I thought it would just be like a heavyish period, but it's far grimmer than that. Emotionally, I'm very up and down, and I'm aware that leaping straight back into ttc is probably not so much brave as a crazy attempt to catch up with myself - that if it get pg again as quickly as possible it will kind of recapture this baby, with just a short delay. I feel desperate to recapture the exhilaration of being pregnant, and I am asking you ladies to sternly police any signs of me going peculiar over the next couple of months (you know, reading omens into the position of the moon, making pilgrimages to Mothercare, wrapping up plastic dolls and sticking them up my jumper).

Anyone know my odds of actually ovulating this month, or should I expect to have a period first? (See, I'm starting already.)

OP posts:
Munnzieb · 17/11/2004 19:06

unfortunatly Hester I can't help you, however,

a)i'm sure some one can and
b)we all go thru the mothercare stages! we'll all be here to work thru it with u!lol.

BeckiF · 17/11/2004 19:27

Evening ladies! I have had stabbing pains low on my left side all day (see below). Tonights OPK is much darker but not quite a positive, and I also have clear stretchy CM, and a slight temp drop Now, this either means I'm about to ovulate OR good ol' PCOS is doing what it does best and messing around with my hormone levels! The opk info sheet did say though that if your cycle is 40 days long (as my last one was) to start testing on day 19 and I am currently CD17. It could be something, it could be nothing (I'm hoping for a HUGE something!!) I will keep you posted!

JiminyCricket · 17/11/2004 19:55

Heello everyone, listen, I hope you don't mind a quick contribution from a frequent lurker/occasional poster on this thread but I am just desperate to tell SOMEONE that i just got a BFP! Been trying since August and soooo excited now dh doesn't know what to do with me. Thanx for all the baby dust and I will be sending hopeful thoughts for everyone else xxx

BeckiF · 17/11/2004 20:03

Bibi20 · 17/11/2004 20:46

Cosybear · 17/11/2004 21:03
