@cupoftea33 hello!!! Given we have left it so long - we are going all out, OPKs, temp and App - using Natural Cycle at the mo and see how get on with that. Wishing you loads of luck xx

pitterypattery00 · 28/09/2022 18:21

I found out this week that two friends are pregnant - one aged 40, the other 41. Just thought I'd share the positive news 😊

littlegingerone · 29/09/2022 11:43

Hi,

I just wanted to jump on to ask more about people's experiences of having thyroid tests. I had a private test which showed my tsh at 4.32, subclinical hypothyroidism. I've read that it should be below 2.5 for ttc and early pregnancy. I've been to the gp today and spoke to them about it but he was very dismissive and just kept saying they don't treat below 10. I was trying to explain that I understand that it is purely for the ttc reasons that I want to bring it down. He just wasn't really listening and did took bloods but said we probably won't do anything about it but at least you've got the test we wouldn't even usually do that.
I just wondered what other people's experiences have been and what their levels were if they were able to get medication?
I'm wondering if there's a way to get a prescription privately if I have no joy via my gp?

pitterypattery00 · 29/09/2022 23:13

@littlegingerone i would go and see a different GP as what you have been told (about not treating if TSH is below 10) isn't true. My TSH level was a little higher than yours, just above 5. Prescribed 50mcg levothyroxine. Once pregnant, after further blood tests this was increased to 75 then 100mcg (took a while to get dose right in pregnancy but that's another story). Now, a couple years post pregnancy, I'm still taking levothyroxine - there is debate as to whether it's worth treating subclinical hypothyroidism but no one has suggested I stop taking it.

pitterypattery00 · 29/09/2022 23:18

"These guidelines suggest thyroid hormone replacement in women with TSH levels >4 is associated with improved pregnancy rates and decreased miscarriage rates."

from www.thyroid.org/patient-thyroid-information/ct-for-patients/volume-issue-november/vol-8-issue-11-p-3-4/

Just found that from a quick Google.

Bloody hell, I've had a FBP. It's been two years since the MMC and subsequent cyst and not a whisper of a line until now. Very clear line on FRER so it's definitely in there. I'm convinced it won't stay, statistically the chances aren't great, but please keep everything crossed for my little ball of cells x

Fod80 · 22/10/2022 23:55

@Coffeeforlife !!
Amazing news! Congratulations! Have everything crossed for you!!

lizziecat1 · 23/10/2022 00:02

@Coffeeforlife That's wonderful. Fingers crossed for you. Enjoy every minute of being pregnant!

cupoftea33 · 23/10/2022 01:32

Congratulations @Coffeeforlife !

Wondering how everyone else is going?
Any 44's TTC in this group ? 😊

Coffeeforlife · 23/10/2022 09:13

Thanks ladies. Even if it doesn't work out it just shows that a long period of nothing doesn't count you out x

lizziecat1 · 23/10/2022 09:51

@cupoftea33 I'm even older... 45. TTC after a mc in September. Well aware that this may not work out, but going to give it a go! Looks like it's ovulation day today/tomorrow, so let's hope dh is ready for a bit more activity this evening! How are things for you?

cupoftea33 · 23/10/2022 10:30

@lizziecat1 keeping fingers crossed for you.

It's been 8 months for us TTC number 2....

LucyFraser1981 · 23/10/2022 10:45

Ahhh that's brilliant news @Coffeeforlife ! Gives us all some hope!

My temps are still up at 16dpo (could be 15dpo, not sure I agree with FF), and usually they'd have plummeted by now, ready for AF tomorrow (I have a 16/17 day LP), so I think my body is just trying to mess with my head as the IC tests have all been stark white the past few days. Have FRER arriving later, but knowing amazon it'll probably arrive too late to test until tomorrow 😒
Troll chary attached so you can see what I'm dealing with! Always drop down to coverline about 14dpo usually 🙄

TTC no 2 for 4 months. Just turned 42. Had first pregnancy at 39. Lovely to see a BFP on the group!

Dragon82 · 24/10/2022 13:30

@Coffeeforlife I’m so pleased for you, your post has made my day. I’m so glad that you have a positive pregnancy test, it’s just nice to hear that it’s possible to get pregnant post 40. I know you will be very anxious after your MMC (I’ve had two in the past). But statistics only tell you about a population, they tell you nothing about an individual. So don’t look up any more statistics and just hold onto hope and I’m sending all the positive vibes to your little bundle of cells (as you called them, which I think is a very cute way of describing the little bean). Thank you for sharing with us. My period is due Friday but I’ve had lightening/tingling feelings in my boobs so I’m doing that crazy letting my mind get over excited about being pregnant again. I’m sure we’ve all been there a few times. I wish us all positive tests for 2022 fingers crossed xxxx

Coffeeforlife · 24/10/2022 16:49

@Dragon82 Thankyou, that's very good advice not to look at statistics. I've always been a firm believer that what will be will be, but that hope is a powerful force. Sending bucketloads of baby dust to all of you x

Holls81 · 17/11/2022 11:52

Hiya. I’m just wondering re ovulation tests…
This is the darkest I’ve had so far and think that I should have ovulated yesterday based on length of regular cycle.
had an appointment for a 21 day progesterone test last month and all came back normal.
with this in mind, do you think there’s a possibility that I’m not ovulating? I wish I understood all this more!

LucyFraser1981 · 17/11/2022 14:03

@Holls81 how often are you testing each day?

Fod80 · 17/11/2022 15:04

I've also struggled to interpret these OPKs, particularly this time around. They seem to get a bit darker around day 9 (of a 28 day cycle, which is odd) but then I can never really seem to find a "peak". I bought a pack of 10 clear-blue tests this month, because they seem a lot less open to interpretation so hopefully that will help clarify. They say to start testing on day 9 of a 28 day cycle (once a day, first urine of the day) and once you get a "face" appear on the test (which means the hormone is starting to rise) to test twice a day until you get the smiley face (which means peak). I'll let you know if that actually happens!
I also went for day-3 hormone testing a few days ago. I've got an appointment this afternoon to discuss the results but they don't look great: My LH, FSH and Estradiol were all elevated so it looks like my poor ovaries are at the beginning of the end! Has anyone else had day-3 results come back?

SmokeMonster · 17/11/2022 18:27

I had my day 3 hormones done on Monday to see if I'm suitable for IVF. They rang to say they are "as expected" but haven't had any more detail than that yet. Think I'll get more detailed answer after my scan next week.
As expected at 41 probably isn't great though.

Fod80 · 21/11/2022 18:44

So I got my blood tests back this week. Everything that shouldn’t be high is high and everything that should be low (AMH) is very low! I have an appointment on in a couple of weeks to discuss them but they don’t look great! I’m actually surprised they’re so bad given that I had a baby naturally just two years ago so I guess fertility really does drop off a cliff after 40! Has anyone else had any results back?

legseleven22 · 21/11/2022 22:36

@Fod80 no results yet but I'm 44 so I'm not holding out much hope there...
Had my first at 39 also, gave both a week after I turned 40!
How did you get on with the Clearblue?
I've used the 4 day ones and got a static face which is good!
I'm currently using the 2 day predictor ones now...not much luck on those so far....

Fod80 · 22/11/2022 00:23

I’m also using the four day clear blue (this is the first month). I’m only on day 8 so all negative so far. I actually thought I might be ovulating early but perhaps that might be (one of) my problem(s)!

Fod80 · 30/11/2022 15:09

Just an update that the Clear Blue OPKs were useless! From a pack of ten, two gave error messages and one just failed to produce a result. Then, as soon as the machine detected a rise in hormone, it froze for two days! Will definitely be returning to the cheap ones next month!

Mrsdro · 02/12/2022 21:41

Hi, this is my 1st thread so apologies if I go on. I am 40 years old and came off cerezette on the 20th November. Since then we have dtd 7 times over 10 days, at various times due to my husband working unsociable hours. I started folic acid yesterday (30th nov). I haven't had a period or spotting however within a week of coming off cerezette my sex drive has been off the scale, I can not get enough of my husband..even just his cologne🫠 I checked my cervix 2 days ago and it was (SHOW),has anyone else been in this situation, how did it work out for you? How long did you wait before a bfp. When should I be testing? Due to the pill I have no cycle to track either. Since coming off cerezette I feel amazing, like I was before I started it 6.5 years ago.
Thanks for reading x
