daisyintheclouds · 09/01/2022 11:53

I'm 42 and it's first cycle TTC for me. Bit worried I've left it too late but trying to be pragmatic. Wishing you both all the best.

CherylPorter350 · 09/01/2022 11:56

Hi, im 41...DH is having a vasectomy reversal in a few weeks so I'm hoping for a 2022 BFP. I have 3 older children and 2 older step children

cakedelight77 · 09/01/2022 11:56

@daisyintheclouds @Trying81 here is hoping!
How long have you been trying for?

We have been 3 months now ..so early days still.

I've tried ovulation clearblue ovulation packs but with no sucess but willing to give a different type a go..

EishetChayil · 09/01/2022 12:00

Hi all! Can I join?

I'll be 41 in March this year. Currently TTC #2. I have a 16-month-old DD, and we've been trying since she turned 1 in September.

I was planning to avoid tracking and testing this month, but I've caved and started OPKs. I think my peak will come tomorrow.

Trying81 · 09/01/2022 12:05

@cakedelight77 been off the pill for 3 years, but this is the first month of using ovulation sticks etc

Got 2 stepkids

@daisyintheclouds I feel the same, I do seem to be ovulating now - I didn’t for quite a while after coming off the pill. Trying not to get hopes up too much, and I think our families might think we’re crazy at our age Grin

cakedelight77 · 09/01/2022 12:23

@EishetChayil welcome and here's hoping 🤞

I'm glad that I'm not the only one trying over 40.

Second baby for us too

We have a 3 year old.

Although I think I'm the oldest here - 43

I'm pretty sure our family will think we're bonkers...my oldest is 22 😳

Trying81 · 09/01/2022 12:31

@CherylPorter350 will it be your first together with your partner?

CherylPorter350 · 09/01/2022 13:22

Yes, it will be. We have 5 children but none together. We have been together 10 years, married nearly 5

Trying81 · 09/01/2022 13:28

That’s exciting!!

My partner has 2 with his ex, we’ve been together 7 years and married almost a year

JolkienRolkienRolkienTolkien · 09/01/2022 13:33

Lovely to see this thread and have some company! I'm 41 and have been TTC number 2 for about a year. My DD is 3 years old.

My mother-in-law had my DH when she was 43!

Glad to have found some other over-40s TTCers on here.

JolkienRolkienRolkienTolkien · 09/01/2022 16:00

Can I ask what supplements any of you are taking? I only take prenatal vitamins at the moment but have been reading a bit about ubiquinol recently. It's so confusing trying to work which ones are good quality and how much to take etc.

Daimari · 09/01/2022 16:02

Me. We have a one year old DS. Hoping to start TTC in April.

Trying81 · 09/01/2022 17:12

@JolkienRolkienRolkienTolkien just folic acid, prob get some prenatal ones if we are lucky enough to fall pregnant

CherylPorter350 · 09/01/2022 18:42

I take prenatal, coQ10 and conceive plus ovulation support.

kirinm · 09/01/2022 19:38

Hi, I'm 43 and sadly we are on month 22 of trying. I think my chances are very low but I keep on!

Montague22 · 09/01/2022 20:41

Hi
I’m toying with the idea of another baby. Would be number 4. My youngest is 4.
I’m really broody but not sure why 😊

Lauraliverpool · 09/01/2022 21:49

Hi, 40 here, got a little boy, mmc before him and two after, two failed rounds of IVF, so have continued to try, worried its not going to happen again.

GingerFox2021 · 09/01/2022 22:09

Hello. TTC number 2 for 1,5 years (on and off). Have a girl, she’s 2 and a half.
41, will be turning 42 in March.

1moretry · 09/01/2022 22:56

Please can I join Smile

41 ttc #2 for 18 months now, no luck.

I use opk's and take ttc vitamins and conceive plus ovulation.

Is anyone looking to change anything to help with ttc- I'm slightly overweight so am this year cutting down portion sizes and treats!

Bluelightbaby · 09/01/2022 23:11

I’m 42 next week (!) I was married for 20yr and have two teenage DD who still live with their dad (although I have them 50% of the time)

My new partner and I have been together nearly two years now, we met at work :)

My new partner is only 32 and doesn’t have any children. He wants them but not yet, but my biological clock is ticking VERY loudly. We (I) hope to start TTC very soon, I’m super broody and desperate for another baby. Before working for the ambulance service I was a childminder for ten years. Love a home full of children !

All my friends think I’m mad having a baby at this age and now my children are independent so going back to babies again !

I’ll be following this post :)

Bluelightbaby · 09/01/2022 23:14

Just to add that we had an early miscarriage last month, although didn’t know we were PG at the time, still very upsetting though :(

Boombangboom · 09/01/2022 23:38

Hi all, I’m 41 and just wanted to add some advice from my own experience as finally successful with dc 2 after 4mmc and multiple ivf.
Read it starts with the egg - dh and I took all the supplements recommended.
Ubiquinol and folate rather than coq10 or folic acid
I read quite a bit of research on the positive effect of low carb and high protein diet
I cut out alcohol and so did dh
Get tests done to check your fertility and partners sperm - there can often be a simple issue ( especially with sperm) which can be improved with life style changes
Don’t ttc naturally for too long - I was scared of ivf and kept delaying doing it. If you think you might consider it, then look into it sooner rather than later ( it wasn’t as bad as I thought at all) the HFEA website has lots of info on clinics and ivf
I wish you all the very best of luck !
