I've tried bathing him, can't get it right though, normal temp feels too hot on his bum, but any cooler and he freezes. Just crossing my fingers this egg makes a difference.

BeMyLilBaby · 30/01/2008 14:43

Playing im very gorgey gorgey gorgey!!

All of you guys!! i lurve picatures!!!

happynappies · 30/01/2008 14:46

Cheers ladies - seems very friendly on here, sorry you had to update the list again!! My dd has just dropped off to sleep after a v. long morning and I've got stacks to do, so of course the first place I find myself is MN... I wish I could muster up some enthusiasm to get everything else done!

NatalieJane · 30/01/2008 14:51

LOL, don't be silly, it is actually quite nice watching the list getting bigger and bigger (and more full of my mistakes )

I still haven't hoovered and I have washing to put away, and the kitchen to tidy up, the breakfast and now lunch stuff is still sat there on the sides I'll have a quick whip round a bit later, just before DH get's home, then he'll think I've been busy all day, because the kids won't have had time to mess it up behind me!!

Playingthewaitinggame · 30/01/2008 14:57

Yes MN is evil. I am supposed to be working, have loads to do, will probably end up staying late again, never have a proper lunch brake, cos I waste too much time on here!!!!!

NatalieJane · 30/01/2008 15:00

Thing is if we are like this now, what is going to happen when we actually have something to talk about that is actually happening? i.e. when we all actually start TTC'ing!!! I don't think I want to know, DH already moans about long I spend on here!

zabrina · 30/01/2008 15:04

NJ- I like the idea of leaving the rest of the cleaning untill just before other half gets home, I might try it. Actually, prob wont work, as so much to do, just no motivation.

Anyhow, you lot have got me looking at pushchairs, I have no answer to as why I am doing it - just confusing myself.

Playingthewaitinggame · 30/01/2008 15:04

hmmm, that is a good point, all we really chat about on here is complete nonsense. Oh well, there are worse things to be addicted too

Playingthewaitinggame · 30/01/2008 15:05

and on that note I am going to try and do some work for a whole hour without looking on here

NatalieJane · 30/01/2008 15:10

Zab I have been known to hide dirty washing in the bottom of my wardrobe, hide dirty dishes that wouldn't fit in the dishwasher in a cupboard, because I'd already filled the dishwasher up and it had gone on, but I hadn't emptied it, and I also sometimes spray a little bit of polish in the living room so it smells like I've polished, just before he get's home It doesn't happen very often because obviously my house is normally spotless (ha ha) but it just helps to keep the peace!

Playing, Not complete nonsense, did you not see those Jimmy Choo's? They are not nonsense!!!

BeMyLilBaby · 30/01/2008 15:37

i have just realised in 8 weeks ( which isnt long ) i can ttc OMG!!

NatalieJane · 30/01/2008 15:41

There you go, told you end of March isn't far away!

Have you checked out nursery furniture yet?!!! And you'll need a nice rocking chair, and a bath set, and a whole wardrobe of clothes, for you and the baby, and you'll need to get nappies, wipes etc. etc.

It is so exciting!!!!

BeMyLilBaby · 30/01/2008 15:53

i know, its totally just hit me.... 8 weeks and ill be coil free...oh - er, going then indulge me with your wisdom...

What do i actually need, ill start:

Buggy/travel system
Cot
bath chair

Diege · 30/01/2008 16:00

ooh no don't bother with the bath set , just one of those lie-in things that you put them in until they can sit up properly..proper faff having to fill/empty a baby bath..
Hey, anyone would think we were a 'due in..' thread, anxiously disussing the merits of products for our imminent newborns . Oh and am thinking I might start April instead of May again It's all of you lot getting me broody! Hi HAPPY and MOLJAM!! Is that ttc 4 for you Moljam? Come on, I need someone to convince me that no.4 is a good idea!

largeginandtonic · 30/01/2008 16:02

Bath chair?!

Try maternity bras and clothes first. Folic acid and other pre natal delights.

Then move on to the nursing bras, labour bag debacle.

Then we may let you progress on to buggies and erm bath chairs...

RE my pics, Hugs looks like butter wouldnt melt but he is my nemesis.

happynappies · 30/01/2008 16:05

What I needed was:

cot
car seat
travel system
sheets
blankets
muslins
nappies etc
sleepsuits
vests
hats (Nov baby)
sleeping bags
Monitor (less to hear dd, more to bark instructions to DH while he was nappy-changing and I was watching EastEnders!)

I used a baby bath (just cheap basic one from Mothercare) in the early days then dd progressed into the 'big bath' without the need for supports/chairs etc. We still use a top and tail bowl to this day although people always say they are a waste of time. Didn't bother with steriliser/bottles etc or breastpump - thought I'd see how bf went, and it is still going, but bought a cold water steriliser for early weaning stuff. Didn't bother with books etc - borrowed from library.

Can't think of anything else, but more will probably spring to mind - am such a baby bore!

BeMyLilBaby · 30/01/2008 16:07

Oh-er, i feel all funny

in a good way

-ing like the provebial at the moment, ppl prob think im a bit mad!

Hugo looks loverly lol why is he your nemesis? x

NatalieJane · 30/01/2008 16:28

God LG&T, never mind blardy maternity bras, that will come when she is pregnant, for now baby stuff is all that matters!! C'mon woman, get your arse into gear!!

I think the only thing I would add to happy's list is: Muslins x 100, seriously, you can never have enough of the things! Don't know how I got through DS1 being a baby without a single muslin, they were life savers with DS2!

I think the thing with baby stuff, is that there are some essentials, but then there are loads of things that are helpful, then there are the things that are just nice to have, then there are the things that only people with stoopid ideas money buy.

But then, if it was all essential, most of the fun would be gone.

The egg didn't work by the way still bleeding

BeMyLilBaby · 30/01/2008 16:46

O dear poor Lo, that must really hurt him x

NatalieJane · 30/01/2008 16:51

He doesn't seem too bothered by it whilst he is playing, it is just when I change his bum

I am going to get DH to nip to chemist for some Zinc cream, see if that will help. Someone said it could be thrush but he doesn't have any blisters or anything.

When DS1 was little, he had it once when his back teeth started coming through, was no where near as bad as this, but we used a cream, horrible thick yellow stuff, with what looked like sand or something in it, started with an M I think, but I can't remember what it is now.

Bless him, he doesn't deserve that, it looks so sore

Diege · 30/01/2008 17:02

NJ, it'll be metonium! Brilliant stuff

NatalieJane · 30/01/2008 17:07

Ooooo that sounds about right, I've written it down, will have to get some tomorrow in town. Thank you!!

BeMyLilBaby · 30/01/2008 17:16

Well its nearly home time payday tomo, but in my crusade to get out of OD for baby i am going to continue living the impoverished life so i shall pretend it isnt payday hehe

hope you all have nice evenings and NJ hope babys botty heals up soon xx

Playingthewaitinggame · 30/01/2008 17:17

He He I made it 2 whole hours!!!! .

BB - 2 months . Think of all the baby things you can start investigating - yay. I do like Natalie's idea of the bath seats, they were one of the things my old company used to distribute (amony many other cool things) and I always thought were great. I am going to get one and a Handysitt which is so fab and better than a high chair (I dont even have a bloody baby yet). I also know what maternity bras I will be getting (assuming my boobs dont grow too much more otherwise they wont fit!). We were made to wear one for the whole day at work to see if they were comfy and they were brilliant, which is saying something from someone with large boobs! Oh and I know there are loads and loads of fantastic "essential" things out there. The last time I went to the baby and toddler fair at the NEC I was like a kid in a sweet shop and that was 2 years ago!! I dont stand a chance when I am actually PG!!!

NatalieJane · 30/01/2008 18:05

It wasn't me who said bath seats, but we did have a bath sling thing for DS2, was very handy

I am off for the night now, so see you all tomorrow, xxxxx
