I wore a nice suit, we ran away to Soctland to get married, I was 17, could have got my mums permission to be married in England, but after having not known my dad since I was about 7 I didn't want to ask a strangers permission to marry. So it had to be Scotland.

We went to Gretna LOL

BeMyLilBaby · 30/01/2008 12:08

Aw nj that sounds nice, you and your DH have been together a while then? ive been with my DP for ages too we got together when i was 17 too x

NatalieJane · 30/01/2008 12:16

We met in August 2000, moved in together (him moving down south from up here, me from my mums) in the October, November we got engaged, December we got married

Still makes me smile looking back, everyone, and I mean EVERYONE was against it all, but we knew it was right, I think we have proved it now!

So we have been together for 7 years and 5 months, been married for 7 years and nearly 2 months!

Ooh NJ, I love net-a-porter . Splurged with the credit card a few years ago and got some Miu Miu sandels - probably the most uncomfortable pair of shoes ever! I make sure I get my 'pay-per-wear' out of them and will probabloy take them to the grave!
Twill be Primark this year though, as seriously on a budget having almost cleared my debts/loans etc.. I am determined not not to go down the storecard/credit card route again, though dh is not so convinced of my willpower .
Have to say though that I'm already planning on a new buggy (the new bugaboo bee I think). Love children's clothes too, and having 3 girls I'm able to indulge my passion!
Gosh I admit that I'm feeling a real oldie next to most here . Having said that, I was asked for ID a few weeks ago in Bargain Booze of all places (the shame) - not bad for a 37 year old

cinnamontam · 30/01/2008 12:21

Hello

Just came across this thread and would love to join. We have DD (8 months old) and are still on the 'PostNatal due in May 2007' thread with LG&T...waves

We are waiting till May because (god this is kinda embarrassing) we have a plan for the next 18 months and are hoping to fit the next LO in exactly where we want it I only think this might be possible as I got pregnant with DD after 1 slightly tipsy shag on my birthday when I said to DH 'let's start trying now as it will probably take ages and I'm getting old!'

Plan is:

  1. Conceive in May/June
  2. Work till Christmas
  3. LO born Feb/March - hoping for VBAC Homebirth in pool
  4. Sell house April/May
  5. Pack up house and send everything by sea back to Australia
  6. Buy campervan and tour with DH, DD and LO around Europe for 2-3 months
  7. Go back to Oz

Reality is whenever we have the next one will be just fine and we will move our plans around as needed.

Now will go back and get through the 20 pages of chat

Diege · 30/01/2008 12:21

Aww, very romantic NJ

Playingthewaitinggame · 30/01/2008 12:23

Natalie, I love your story, it really is romantic. We just did things the slow, normal way!! Met at 16, engaged just before 19th birthday, married at 22. Proper traditional church wedding, I loved it (although I know its some peoples version of hell). What I really like is all the lovely photos I am left with of everyone I care about!

Playingthewaitinggame · 30/01/2008 12:31

Welcome Cinnamon. Natalie will have to add you to the list as it seems to be her job now . You have a very organised plan, I hope it works out for you!! Brave to attempt a VBAC at home!! I am considering a home birth myself with a pool (which is funny as I not pg yet!) but am slightly concerned about the risks, although to be honest with all the MRSA and low staffing in hospitals its probably safer

NatalieJane · 30/01/2008 12:32

Diege, net-a-porter always cheers me up (And get's me out of the housework, of which I seem to be doing a brilliant job at the moment!)

Am I the only person in the world that thinks Bugaboo's are fugly? (Sorry Diege! ) and I wouldn't have one if someone was giving them away! My sister (the one who is getting married) used to work in a chic baby boutique place, she was always banging on about me getting one for DS2, and I looked at them, looked again, looked again, and I just can't see the hype about them at all. They are ugly, impracticle, and so blardy poncey. (Sorry again Diege!!!)

I ranted a bit then didn't I?

Hi and welcome Cinn, I think we are doing well bumping up the numbers now

BeMyLilBaby · 30/01/2008 12:33

Aww NJ that sounds so romantic, as does your wedding too playing!

welcome cinnamontam your more than welcom here we are a chatty bunch he he

i havent actually looked at buggies yet... maybe i should?? x

NatalieJane · 30/01/2008 12:36

Yes the list has seemed to have fallen into my hands, and I am not very good at it, everytime I touch it something goes wrong!!

Playing if I was getting married now, I would do the whole church thing. But at the time, well, we just did what we wanted TBH! And if we had our time again, I am pretty certain we would do it all the same. When I look at my sister who got married in 1998, they are still paying off their £30,000 wedding, I would hate that!

cinnamontam · 30/01/2008 12:36

Playingthewaitinggame - hello.

The only reason I had a CS with DD was 'failure to progress' because they kept lying me down to monitor DD and I when there was nothing wrong as my waters had broken 2 days prior. My contractions kept slowing and stopping. This went on for 48 hours and I was so completely knackered having not slept for 3 days we went for a chilled CS in the end. If I'd been at home I would have been absolutely fine. Just one of those long, slow first labours. I'm only 10 mins from big London hospital and will have my amazing Doula Marslady there so feeling pretty excited about it to be honest. I considered homebirth about 4 weeks before due date but it felt a bit too late to make that change. Really wish I had now.

Hmmm...yes...that plan. I guess we will all see whether it works out or not Need to build ALOT of wiggle room into it methinks

Teuch · 30/01/2008 12:37

Yup, did a test and it was negative. Strangely, I feel even more nauseous now??!!

Thanks for the rally cries

Will check back in later and read thread properly, but quick hello to new TTC-ers to be!!

NatalieJane · 30/01/2008 12:38

BB buggy shopping, best bit about having a baby I already have mine planned out (but don't know what will happen if it ends up having to be a double, I hate double buggies!)

I am going to step away from the computer for a bit, every time I post, someone else has posted, so I have to reply again, my fingers are about to drop off!

I might even throw the hoover around a bit, what do you think?

cinnamontam · 30/01/2008 12:39

Thanks NJ - your story is lovely

I'm 36 by the way and also think Bugaboo's are a bit gross (sorry Diege). We have a Phil & Teds and loooooove it

BeMyLilBaby · 30/01/2008 12:44

lol i spose i should get my bum in gear.. i know i dont wat a Quinny... any recommendations greatly rec'd, know i want a travel system too x

Playingthewaitinggame · 30/01/2008 12:47

BB - I wouldn't worry about buggies yet you have ages to obssess!! I know what Natalie means about the bugaboo's, I am not a fan. Probably due to the fact that in my last job I spent so much of my time trying to advise people how to fit Buggy Boards to them!!

Diege · 30/01/2008 12:48

Tee hee, I am a ponce and I am sticking with my bugaboo dream so there [sticks tongue out] .
Oh bugger TEUCH How many days late are you at the mo'?
Yes NJ, get that hoover out. It's my one bit of planned housework for today (to do the dreaded stairs, as we have someone coming to view the house tomnorrow!!).Otherwise I wouldn't bother

largeginandtonic · 30/01/2008 12:53

Aw NJ how sweet! DH and i were much the same, well ish.

We met Xmas 2005 just as i discovered my now exp had been sleeping with the student\aupair who lived with us for the past 6 months. I had the 5 children then, the youngets was not quite 1. He swept me off my feet and made (almost) everything ok again. He proposed in May and we got married in August! He has taken on all of us and now we have lovely Beau who was born in May last year.

People doubted us too and said i was on the rebound but i just knew as soon as i saw him, it was that 'across a crowded room' thing

I am just back from the docs with ds, he has shingles. No school for him for 2 weeks he is thrilled, i am

I love Maggie Sottero, my wedding dress was borrowed and we did the whole shebang for £1000. I HATE my pic taken and any fuss,so wanted it quiet as can be. I may have a pic on my profile, cant remember!

BeMyLilBaby · 30/01/2008 12:53

he he i think i will leave that till i am actually pg, otherwise i may be considered more odd!

Teuch do you trust the tests? i always think instincts are too strong to be ignored

NJ good luck with the hoovering

diege i dont even know what the bugaboo looks like??

x

largeginandtonic · 30/01/2008 12:54

TAM me old mucker Excellent news

Teuch ignore the test.

Playingthewaitinggame · 30/01/2008 13:00

LG&T at your story! Your ex H doing that in your own house!!!! At least you have found such a supportive DH now.

Playingthewaitinggame · 30/01/2008 13:02

Natalie - just ready your post about you sisters 30k wedding (we have been talking so much I missed it) . We did ours for 8k, a lot of money, but a lot less then most church weddings. I was very strict about my budget!!

moljam · 30/01/2008 13:04

hi,were thinking about ttc so i suppose waiting!still undecided to go for number 4 but both think we will-just question of when!our reasons for waiting are that ive had 3 csections and gps etc had said no more but consultant said no problem as far as hes concerned so long as aware of risks so we keep weighing up risks and thinking!we would both love another though!

Playingthewaitinggame · 30/01/2008 13:13

Hi Moljam. Welcome. You will find us a diverse group on here. We are all waiting for different reasons but one thing we all have in common is whether we are waiting ttc dc1 or dc7, for whatever reason, we all know how hard it is to wait and how the desire is so hard to overcome!!
