My dd is 11 months old and we have decided that now is the time for number 2! My daughter took 18 months to conceive with a mmc in between, so I'm expecting a long journey. This is my first month and I'm on cd4.

@Chivari not that I can think of. We weren’t in any rush so I guess we were relaxed about it. But that may just be coincidence. I never did OPKs etc

KT1992 · 22/08/2021 20:05

Sorry I should have tagged @Goodgoodthings in my previous post Smile

Hullabaloowho · 22/08/2021 20:09

Hi, can I join too? This will be our first month TTC. Just finished AF and reckon I will ovulate around Saturday but not planning to do anything much in terms of ovulation monitoring or predicting for the first few months TTC.

DS is 17 months and born the day of the first lockdown and tbh I'm still feeling a bit traumatised by the panic and circumstances around his birth (EMCS followed by rapid discharge from hospital with minimal midwife support, no formula/nappies on the shelf and we've never seen a health visitor). I found the first 3 months brutally hard but we know we want another, at 33 I feel like I just want to get on with it and DS is a joy currently.

Took us 12 months to conceive #1 so I'm not sure what to expect. Also am in a bit of a strange place career-wise (NHS) so would be pros and cons to a quick conception.

Good luck to you all.

CBB2021 · 22/08/2021 20:38

Hi can I join too?

DD is 13 months. First month we just did casual ‘not trying but not preventing’ approach. Period was 5 days late and I thought surely I haven’t been this lucky?! TTC is not easy that’s for sure…

Fell pregnant on 3rd cycle which was unfortunately a MC, then fell with DD straight after that. So hoping we don’t have heartbreak this time around too 💔

@Chanel05 I also had an EMCS and know exactly what you mean by worrying about whether that has affected my chances. However know loads of people who have been fine afterwards so hopefully we will be too!

wegoagain · 22/08/2021 21:43

Hi All,
I would love to join too please! This is 2nd month TTC #2 and DS is 13 months. It took 16 months with him so not holding out much hope it will happen soon but forgot how crushing it is when AF shows up when you are trying! We were just going to see what happened until January but I have already ordered OPKs and Clear Blue Digital for this cycle. I am on CD 4 but my cycles last time were all over the place and vary between 20 and 40 days so hoping they are more consistent this time!!
Hope we all get our good news soon!

ffiffi123 · 22/08/2021 23:16

Can I join??

CD12 so in my fertile window with hopefully Ovulation in a few days.

We have DD who is 2 years & 2 months, I'm 36 & this is cycle 2 (lazily trying since around may though!) hopefully this month is our month Smile

Kiaa · 23/08/2021 02:17

@catlover98 hey 😀 Yes I have clearblue ovulation tests but I won't start testing for a couple days as recently my cycle has been extending by 5 days 😑 I also temp
How about you ?

Chanel05 · 23/08/2021 07:57

@Goodgoodthings well at least that's consistent for the most part then. Hopefully you'll be able to pinpoint your fertile window fairly easily. Have you thought about an elcs or vbac yet? I love the idea of a vbac really. I fully dilated but my daughter was transverse, despite me pushing for two hours so really there's no reason I should have a vbac but it scares the hell out of my dh.

@catlover98 in my fertile window I'd usually do the cheapies 3-4 times per day. First thing in the morning, 10am, 3pm, 7pm. I used to temp too but it honestly made me so stressed and obsessive.

@Hullabaloowho that must have been so hard giving birth then. How do you feel about having another baby in potential restriction times still?

@CBB2021 have you thought about an elcs vs vbac?

OP posts:
Goodgoodthings · 23/08/2021 08:24

@Chanel05 yeah definitely, I'm trying to be positive about it because it is what it is. Hopefully I will be lucky again 🙃

I've always thought I'd have an elcs next time, with my first I had a positive labour really until my waters were broken at 9cm and unfortunately my body went into shock and everything got a bit scary. But to be honest I'm not 100% either way - I hated staying in the hospital after my emcs because of covid, so that does put me off. Hopefully things will be a bit different next time around!

CBB2021 · 23/08/2021 10:11

@Chanel05 it’s so hard I flip between VBAC and ELCS but then I think let’s get pregnant first 🤣

I was the same as you, got all the way to 9cm but DD was lethargic and I was exhausted from 48 hours of labour and induction, so no reason why I couldn’t try for a VBAC. DD was big though so it may be that an ELCS is safer, although the recovery with a toddler might be more tricky. If I do fall quickly, then it may be that it’s too close to try a VBAC.

CBB2021 · 23/08/2021 10:12

One thing that I thought made a difference when trying for DD was preseed! So may try some of that again!

Chanel05 · 23/08/2021 15:32

@Goodgoodthings that's fair enough. It is a long enough slog getting the two lines, let alone it sticking, let alone thinking of the labour! I'm really hoping that it will be quicker this time but I'm trying not to get carried away with myself. It took 8 cycles both previous pregnancies for me so I have that figure in my head.

@CBB2021 that's true. I think if I was going to have a less that 2 year age gap (ha ha who am I kidding? I should be so lucky!!) then I think a vbac might not be the best idea, but if it was another year before I became pregnant, it may be more likely.

OP posts:
Goodgoodthings · 23/08/2021 18:30

@Chanel05 hopefully quicker this time. I feel so much more relaxed reading everyone's stories and seeing lots of similar ones to mine. Lots to be positive about still, and luckily this time having a little one already is a great distraction 😅

How is everyone doing? I'm feeling so impatient waiting for af but know that that's probably not going to do me any favours...

wegoagain · 23/08/2021 18:50

Oh my gosh I am so impatient!! My husband wanted to start trying in May but I wasn't ready to give up an evening wine on a summer night and wanted to wait until DS was at least one incase it did happen right away but I wish I'd have just gone for it knowing it would take longer!!

Hullabaloowho · 23/08/2021 20:03

@Chanel05 I feel like there is no way we will ever be subject to the same level of anxiety and restrictions as in March 2020 again so that makes me feel reassured, I mean to be told you can only leave the house for an hour or less and you're not allowed to sit down if you need to feed your newborn baby is fairly bonkers in retrospect. Also the fact there were no support bubbles... I spent most of the 4th trimester desperately glued to the news because I was so desperate to know when we'd be allowed to introduce our baby to anyone else so I really hope I'll be able to relax a bit more next time.

Also think I'll struggle with the vbac vs. elcs decision but it feels a long way away yet.

PartyPotato · 24/08/2021 22:53

Just decided today to start trying for baby number 2! DS is 8 months old, yes I know I’m mad Grin but we can do it!

PartyPotato · 24/08/2021 22:54

@CBB2021 yep preseed worked instantly for us!

GreenFlipFlop · 24/08/2021 23:57

Hi, can I join too? DS is 15 months and we've been trying for #2 since he turned 1 in May! Hoping for a smallish age gap! Currently 2DPO and hopeful for this month!

Anyone else found TTC with a toddler so much more knackering than the first time? 😂

wegoagain · 25/08/2021 07:25

@partypotato instantly adds preseed to basket

@greenflipflop yes, hoping we fall soon, not got it in me for DTD so much 😂

Indianna2006 · 25/08/2021 09:45

Can I join?

Been ttc #2 since May. Been different to most of you ladies as will have a much bigger age gap as my DD is 3 and she will be 4 before another baby makes an appearance. I had a lot of issues after her birth and I didn’t think I could carry another baby. So feeling blessed we can even now try tbh. But it’s hard waiting it out when I’ve wanted a baby for sooo long!

Age 31
Cycle #4

Previous pregnancy have gone:

Pregnancy 1: 1st cycle ttc but mc @ 13 weeks
Pregnancy 2 : 7 cycles ended in my DD
Pregnancy 3 : 4 cycles and waiting…lol

Got static smiley on clearblue this morning so will ovulate soon and then be in 2ww again!

It’s only 4th cycle we’re on but it’s taken me so long to get here I don’t want the gap to get much bigger :( but out of my control

Goodgoodthings · 25/08/2021 09:49

@GreenFlipFlop totally, especially since she has been catching everything from nursery and we're all constantly ill 🤧 she's having a day with her Grandpa on Saturday and I can't wait for a rest haha.

Hope everyone's feeling good - I'm still waiting for AF and hoping me being ill isn't going to affect it too much...

Goodgoodthings · 25/08/2021 09:56

Hi @Indianna2006 sending lots of luck your way! Also wanted to say there are 4 years between my nieces (currently 3 and 7) and they're the best of friends, it's a lovely gap! I think however things pan out for your family will be perfect for you - that's what I keep telling myself anyway. Plus you'll have a helper which can't be a bad thing!

ItsSunnyOutside · 25/08/2021 09:57

Hi all,
I'm on another thread about ttc2 but I'd like to join this one too!

We have a lovely DD who is nearly 2. Just going into cycle 3 now, so early days. I conceived quickly {cycle 2} with dd, but I think it is going to take longer this time around.
I am still breastfeeding and my periods came back about 6 months ago, but they have really changed , my cycles are alot longer now {about 37 days, they were 28 days pre pregnancy}

Good luck everyone!

Indianna2006 · 25/08/2021 10:02

@Goodgoodthings thank you, yes I think your right.

The age gap doesn’t always dictate the relationship. There is 3.5 between me and my sister and we’re super close. And I know siblings 18 months apart who really don’t get on. It’s more the children isn’t it I think.

But it’s just not what I originally had planned when we wanted a family but like you say somehow it works out maybe how it was meant to. Just hope it happens soon ish 🤞🏼🤞🏼 As each month since likes she gets so much more older.

She loves babies tho my DD. She keeps asking for a baby sister or brother an pretty certain it would be pushed around in her toy pram 🤣🤣🤣👶🏼

CBB2021 · 25/08/2021 11:13

@PartyPotato ooo interesting that it worked for you too! We got pregnant with DD first cycle after a MC with preseed and I do think it made a difference!

It’s hard to know how to approach it, I’m just starting cycle 2 and part of me is thinking I will just try the relaxed approach like we did for cycle 1 but I know I’m getting impatient already! I have some OPKs left over from last time and I have natural cycles but I barely use the thermometer!

It’s hard to know which approach to go for? All in or seeing what happens! 🤷🏻‍♀️
