Hi there.. I'm 18 and have been with my boyfriend for a few months... We had unprotected sex (please don't say anything unkind because it won't help me) on day 19 of my usual 30 day cycle (I use an app to track this)... I'm due on my period in 10 days and am wondering if any of you have any advice as to whether I could be pregnant and if anyone has anything that could prevent pregnancy that isn't the morning after... Please 🙏

How does being pregnant make someone vulnerable? Hmm

tonijane17 · 22/08/2021 14:25

None of these comments help me at all, I was merely giving an update to the people who responded when this thread was started.

And some of you just seem really too involved with my personal circumstances, so can we leave it at that. I'm happy, the father of my baby is happy and so are our families so any opinions you may have on our circumstances are irrelevant.

Too involved? It was a passing comment, hun. Lawd.

tonijane17 · 22/08/2021 14:34

Well I'm passing comment back "hun", and you seem a little too concerned Xx @SpaceBethSmith

Congrats! For those trying to give 'realistic' advice, its not helpful now. Whatever life has in store, OP will find out and deal with as it comes. Right now she is feeling positive and happy about keeping the baby so just let her have that.

tonijane17 · 22/08/2021 14:51

Thank you @GrumpyTerrier ! I really appreciate that x

There's so many people poised and waiting to pass judgement on these forums it's quite funny!

Congratulations on the pregnancy, you seem happy about the news. Of course there may be difficult times ahead but when isn't there!

chesirecat99 · 22/08/2021 14:51

Congratulations, I'm glad you are happy.

tonijane17 · 22/08/2021 14:53

@Gabby82 Exactly what I was thinking... It was simply just an update, but it seems people think me/my family/my partner are wrong to happy, when every baby is a blessing... I know it isn't going to all sunshine and rainbows but what's for you won't go by you!xx

@Peanutsandchilli what a nasty thing to take time out of your weekend to say.

ineedaholidaynow · 22/08/2021 15:00

A baby isn't always a blessing. They aren't a doll. They are a huge responsibility. A tenancy is also a huge responsibility. What happens if the OP enters into a tenancy with someone she has known 2 months who suddenly finds being a dad and a partner a bit too much responsibility. So OP, then may end up tied in a tenancy and trying to look after a baby on her own.

eclipsechips · 22/08/2021 15:03

There are far worse things in life to happen than a baby - Congratulations @tonijane17

Eclairesarethebest · 22/08/2021 15:04

@Peanutsandchilli I had my first DC at 18, guess what? Still with their dad 15 years later! Not everyone is a statistic.

Congratulations op, it will be a major life shock to you. It's not easy living with a 21 year old man especially when the baby comes but hopefully he'll be supportive and you'll have a happy story to tell. :)

DemBonesDemBones · 22/08/2021 15:06

@ineedaholidaynow how dare you. Her baby IS a blessing. She has stated many times she is happy to be pregnant. Why are you so determined to piss on her parade?! The things you've mentioned could happen to anyone, regardless of age. Her baby is worth no less than yours.

tonijane17 · 22/08/2021 15:08

@ineedaholidaynow Cheer up and suck it up buttercup...

@Eclairesarethebest thank you so much! Exactly, not everyone is statistic! My mum had me at 19 and my dad was 25 - still together to this day x

@eclipsechips thank you Grin x

On the 9th August the OP was asking what she could do to prevent a pregnancy, didn't appear that the baby was a blessing then.

JEdgarHoover · 22/08/2021 15:12

Congratulations! Glad it has all worked out.

I know someone who had a baby at 18 with a man she didn’t know very well. She didn’t use contraception. I think she was trying to be honest as she’d had a hard childhood and I think she thought a baby of her own would make up for her family’s shortcomings. Well, she went on to have two more and she’s an amazing mum. She was a single mum for a long time and she’s smashed it, she worked hard and now has a brilliant career and happy kids.

Young mums, single mums, mums who have unplanned babies - all can be excellent mums. It doesn’t have to be a 2.4 family to be ‘right’. If the OP is happy and content and has a support network around her then that’s great. It also sounds like the father has stepped up, so I don’t get why a couple of posters are being so bitter.

DemBonesDemBones · 22/08/2021 15:12

@ineedaholidaynow ohhhhh so any baby who's parents ever considered abortion or adoption can never be a blessing. Got it. Hmm
Grow up, do.

ofwarren · 22/08/2021 15:13

Congratulations!
I'm glad things turned out the way you wanted them to ❤️
