Hello,
I couldn't see a thread for ladies trying for baby no 2, so I thought I'd start one.
I'm nearing the end of cycle 3, 12DPO today, AF due on Wednesday. Having all sorts of symptoms that I don't usually get.
My first LO turned 2 a couple of months ago.
Look forward to hearing others' stories 😊

Hi @AF arrived today for me, so I feel your pain. It's CD1 or Groundhog Day 😔. Trying to stay positive this month and not get too stressed about opks and just BD as much as possible. My cycles are becoming irregular and less easy to predict ovulation, which I put down to overthinking everything! Best of luck for this cycle x

Pasha82 · 16/07/2021 16:17

Oops message was for @eccecc not AF!!!!

eccecc · 16/07/2021 16:57

Thank you.
Just so disappointed to have reached cycle 9 Sad I have a friend expecting through an unplanned pregnancy and, this is awful, but I don't even want to speak to her right now Blush

Pasha82 · 16/07/2021 18:04

@eccecc it is very hard because all of my friends seem to be so fertile and it's not something that is easy to talk about when things aren't working out for you. It took me 12 months with my fIrst. It will happen again, but it's trying to find that positivity. X

darcey87 · 16/07/2021 21:21

Completely understandable @eccecc I have felt something similar at various points as I have been unable to try until now because of precarious employment and needing enhanced mat pay. It can feel incredibly unfair and it takes a lot not to be bitter. Your time will come though, and hopefully very soon!

Sorry AF is here @Pasha82 - are irregular cycles normal for you? Stress can do crazy things to our bodies.

Where is everyone on alcohol up to BFP? I can't remember what I did last time but DH assures me I was still having my usual drinks until I got my BFP, and although I drink even less now due to being a lightweight since having baby 1, I am still having my 2 units a couple of times a week. I know opinions are quite varied though! Suppose I'm looking for some reassurance that it's ok to keep having small amounts of alcohol until getting a positive test. I get quite anxious about the guidelines.

eccecc · 16/07/2021 22:16

@darcey87 I've been having a few drinks as normal but I'm going to cut it out completely this month. Going to try and be healthier overall to see if it helps. Can't hurt!
I do think it's completely fine to have a few drinks before BFP though, I wouldn't feel guilty about it.

MamaSJ15 · 16/07/2021 23:24

@darcey87 yeah I think my sister mentioned about her scar being itchy too.

Welcome @SunshineAndRainbows6 😊
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, you are so young to have that aren't you. I hope you manage you bfp soon and hopefully it'll keep your mind occupied too 😊

Thanks, definitely tying to stay as positive as I can!

Hi ladies

May I join?

TTC number 2 also. Got DD who is 3.

On cycle 2. 13 DPO today but got BFN yesterday. And cramping and spotting today so period is turning up any moment..boo.

Joining for next cycle :)

Have been pregnant twice before as below..

1st cycle - ended in mmc
6th cycle - ended in my DD :D

MamaSJ15 · 17/07/2021 06:57

Welcome @eccecc, it is completely understandable the way you feel. Trying for a baby can be really stressful and seeing that just happen for someone who's not trying... I would probably feel the same way.

@darcey87 I personally don't drink anyway, but I would say having a couple of drinks wouldn't be a problem.

Welcome @indianna2006 sorry you think AF is arriving. But we're all here to keep you going 😊
I'm on CD 3 and trying for a more relaxed cycle. No stressing, not too much tracking (trying to avoid the tracking app), apart from keeping track of my cycle day so I know when AF would be due. X

Indianna2006 · 17/07/2021 19:28

@MamaSJ15 well AF showed up today so boo. Onto cycle 3.
I genuinely log my period etc in a fertility friend app but only so I’m aware when my period is due ish. Otherwise we’re trying to be fairly casual. But obv I want it to of happened like yesterday…hahaha! Standard women. No patience!
Fingers crossed for cycle 3!

So jealous of any one who doesn’t try. I have a friend who has 3 children. She always fell first cycle. I’m just like what! Lol. Stupid science.

FX for you all ladies xxx

MamaSJ15 · 17/07/2021 22:02

@Indianna2006 sorry to hear that.
I know what you mean, it took 3 cycles for #1 and I'm now on cycle 4 for #2. I do believe it will happen when the time is right but I still want the right time to be now!
I think I can say I want it to be a casual cycle but I bet when I get the fertile period I'll be full on again! I hope not though 😂

Anyone else not enjoying the heat?! I don't do well with the heat, or the cold! I like spring and autumn the best! X

darcey87 · 18/07/2021 07:37

I think I may have messed up my ov testing this month. I started my CB ov tests a day later than it says and have had low fertility every day since - except this morning, which was suddenly peak!

I actually took a cheapie last night before bed as had lots of EWCM, and it was positive or extremely close to positive but DH was already asleep so we DTD this morning instead, and we had DTD on Friday afternoon too.

I think I might be having a shorter cycle this month but I may have missed the ov window. How long do sperm live? I think the egg gets released about 24h after the LH surge? so maybe I've caught it by DTD this morning. Feel I should've DTD yesterday though, but we were out all day and I wasn't expecting to ov until Tuesday!

MamaSJ15 · 18/07/2021 20:22

@darcey87 it's so hard to time it right isn't it! I've never done ovulation tests, I think it would confuse me 😂 sperm can live up to 5 days I've read but I'd say you'd have a good chance up to 3 days before ov. I'm sure you'll have a chance either way. Don't give up hope just yet!

My period has been a little lighter this cycle which was a bit of nice relief in this heat. And I've got my second Pfizer jab in early August which will be during my 2ww, so I really hope it doesn't effect anything!

OP posts:
olliepollie · 18/07/2021 20:59

Oh that's really interesting @MamaSJ15 how do you time things then? They are confusing! I think I have felt ovulation this evening and if so we've DTD twice today so there will definitely be some swimmers around, I hope!

That's good about your period, this heat is hard enough without having a heavy AF.

I feel this TWW may feel very long! Going to try not to test until 12DPO. Would you normally get a positive if you were pg at that point? It's been so long I can't remember!!

MamaSJ15 · 19/07/2021 07:01

Hi @olliepollie, I usually feel ovulation pains. Otherwise it's just a guess if I'm honest. we usually try to have sex every other day of the fertile period, I feel were covered then.
Not sure if you've read the thread, but I'm trying a more casual approach this cycle, no tracking or using the app. Just see what happens!
Most people would test positive at 12dpo if they were pregnant but it's not guaranteed. I try not to test unless AF is late though, I can't do with the disappointment!

OP posts:
darcey87 · 19/07/2021 08:07

That's good about your period @MamaSJ15 - good luck for this cycle!

I think trusting your body is the better option really - I had loads of fertile CM on Saturday but because my ov test in the morning was effectively negative I didn't DTD that day. But I'm as confident as I can be that we've been having enough sex that if it's going to happen there's sperm there to make it happen!

coles85 · 19/07/2021 10:30

What I'm taking from this thread is that we're all just hoping for the best, but none of us have a clue when we're actually ovulating haha Grin it's so hard to predict anything isn't it!? I've not been doing ovulation tests or anything, but based on my last two cycles which were 37 & 40 days I made some guesses. DTD lots and then when I thought my fertile period was over we stopped, then I had some CM that looked like what google told me indicated ovulation, so we did it again once more for good luck haha!
It's a total minefield!!!

The TWW is going to be loooooong. I think (based again on complete guesswork) I'm about 5DPO Hmm so still quite a while to wait until I can test. Only got internet cheapies so should really wait another 10 days at least, would you say?

I don't feel very in tune with my body, I'm so envious of those of you who can feel when you're ovulating. Even with my first pregnancy I didn't feel pregnant or noticed changes for quite a wee while. The positive test was a shock to me!

darcey87 · 19/07/2021 12:05

Isn't it funny @coles85 that some people get pregnant accidentally from one-time sex and yet here we are, plugging away with our pee sticks and CM Grin I'm very much once I've made a decision I want an action though, and since the actual reality of TTC is you can't guarantee an outcome then sticks and tracking are my action!

Would you get a FRER and test on 11DPO? I think I tested at 12DPO with my last pregnancy and got a good positive, are cheapies much less sensitive?

Already symptom spotting like a lunatic! Every month I get sore boobs after I ovulate, almost immediately, and they are a bit tender today for the first time since before AF. As usual. Trying to read something extra into it this month though! Ugh...

I think being in tune can be a blessing and a curse. In some ways I'd rather have nothing to go on!

MamaSJ15 · 19/07/2021 12:32

@darcey87 thats good, at least you've covered all bases! Thank you :) I'm surprisingly calm about this cycle! But my fertile period hasn't hit yet so watch out haha!
@coles85 I think I'd just go insane if I tracked all that I could, I did BBT tracking when TTC #1 but when you have a 2 year old who could wake you up any time, it just wouldn't work as well so I'm not bothering. I don't remember feeling ovulation pains with #1 but almost certain it's what I feel now, especially because it's only one one side too. I didn't feel anything when I first pregnant with #1 until the day AF was due when I have slight cramping and lower back ache, which could have been either one! So I tested the next day and it was positive, hoping to be that calm this time round haha.

My LO has conjunctivitis :( poor little thing woke up with a very crusty eye! Sorry, I know this is about TTC but we all have one child so I thought I'd share!

OP posts:
coles85 · 19/07/2021 12:34

@darcey87 absolutely! It's so funny how much I worried about accidentally getting pregnant when I was younger - I had no idea how hard it can technically be. Although I'm still in my first month of trying so I've got a cheek to moan 😂

I also find the stories fascinating about people just about to start ivf or who've just adopted a baby and then fall pregnant! Just shows you how stressing about it can be counterproductive...but I'm exactly like you - if I set my mind on something I want it actioned immediately.

I've just assumed the internet tests won't be as sensitive as a FRER. Tbh I got a result using the cheap ones last time round, but from memory I think I must've been about 14 DPO then. We've got a busy weekend this week so I'm hoping the distraction will stop me from thinking about it and I'll test next week! If my cycles are going to remain this effing long it's going to be one hell of a wait for my next chance Sad

coles85 · 19/07/2021 12:35

@MamaSJ15 oh no! Hope your little one is on the mend soon. Mine has also been ill (cough/cold) and it's so much hard work when they're not feeling themselves!

MamaSJ15 · 19/07/2021 13:41

I know exactly what you mean @coles85, I was the same, panicking about falling pregnant when I wasn't trying 😂 it really does prove the stressing isn't good for TTC doesn't it! But it's so hard not to when you're in the situation.

Thank you, she's still in nursery and seems herself so all good. Doc's say it should clear by itself but to pick up some drops just in case. Anyone ever tried putting drops in a 2 yr olds eye? Not looking forward to it 😂

OP posts:
coles85 · 19/07/2021 14:37

@MamaSJ15 the drops are a challenge aren't they? I've always just gone with one of us holding her (like you'd cradle a baby, and usually my DP because he's bigger and stronger than me) and then tipping her backwards so she's reclined head down, then I do the drops into her eyes - usually more than is recommend because I just go for it and hope that something gets in there! Gravity helps. The first eye is usually ok, the second is harder coz the know it's coming Confused
Bathing with warm salty water is pretty good too and much more soothing for them than assault by eye drop haha!

darcey87 · 19/07/2021 15:03

Ah that's rubbish @MamaSJ15 I hope LO feels better soon! I've not had to do drops in a while but upside down a bit seems like a good shout.

Glad you're feeling calm about your next cycle, it's hard not to feel quite obsessed with it all! I remember last time I was working in the office and also super busy socially/with life whereas now wfh in a quiet work period, ugh.

Like you no way I could BBT chart with a 2yo who still wakes at night 😂

darcey87 · 19/07/2021 15:09

@coles85 if you can wait until after the weekend then you'll probably be more confident of the result! A busy weekend is useful 👍

Have your cycles always been longer? Mine have always been shorter side of normal 25/26 and I have moaned about having too many periods but long can also be annoying too it seems.
