TTC - Ovulation

Hi!

I have been TTC this month. I got a flashing smiley face on the clearblue OPKS this morning so all is looking good! I would love to talk to anyone else who is also TTC this month... I am currently driving my husband mad as it's all I can talk about. 😊

Interesting. I think I'm going to try a cycle with just folic acid, vitamin d and vitamin c and see how I get on. I've just been taking folic acid so far...!

@QueenLagertha agh yes they're the ones I've bought!
@MrsRosaline I was just thinking I think I'd like to add in an additional vitamin D supplement too! I don't think there's enough in a standard preconception vitamin x

I started drinking grapefruit juice last night. I am not a fan but at this point willing to try anything! #CD5 over here. What about you @newtolineofduty?

I've been doing some reading this weekend and discovered DP takes a medication that affects sperm motility and viability! So we're going to look into him taking a break from it! But given sperm takes a couple of months to develop it means we won't notice the benefits for a while! Wish I'd known earlier!!!! Xxx

That's so strange @newtolineofduty because I'm also in a bit of a bind. DH takes a medicine for high blood pressure. I wanted him to come off it whilst we TTC, but then high blood pressure in itself really affects sperm too! Bit of a double edged sword. Fingers crossed for this cycle though!

Wow @MrsRosaline what a coincidence! Is there any evidence that the medication could impact his fertility? Was he on it when you conceived previously? My DP is unhappy about coming off but willing as he can live with it temporarily xxx

Some people claim that blood pressure medications "interfere with the ability of sperm to fertilise the egg". But I've also screenshot the advice from NHS. I think it's probably worse to have through the rough blood pressure if I'm honest. No, he did not have high blood pressure when we had DD. 😅

Oh that's a tough one about the medication. As you say though prob much worse to have sky high blood pressure and risk stroke etc.

The grapefruit juice takes some getting used to 😂 after the first couple of days I started to enjoy it. Would just have a small glass of it.

Well incredibly high blood pressure also seems to mess up sperm anyway so it's a lose lose situation 🤷🏻‍♀️

Great news about the little bean. I've also been having a glass of orange juice every morning... I think it can increase progesterone.

@QueenLagertha Yey that's fab! Are you feeling shitty yet!? I actually came to love the grapefruit juice! DP loves it and I told him it was for me only! 😂

That's a tough one @MrsRosaline. Would it be worth DH having a chat to the GP? x

DS wanted some of my grapefruit juice. I was glad when he spat it back out and said "yucky!"😂

No sickness yet. And no sore boobs either. Only symptoms are some cramping late at night, mild tiredness, ravenous hunger and RHR high. I had a couple of days around implantation (I think) when I felt rough because I barely slept a couple of nights. Though the sickness has plenty of time to start yet. I was sick at 3.5 weeks with DS 😮 so I'm eating all I want at the minute thinking that I mightn't be able to eat much in a couple of weeks.

GP might fob you off/prob wouldn't know too much about it. Might be worthwhile getting a private sperm analysis done?

@MrsRosaline I'm really well thank you. Should be entering week 5 tomorrow and am beyond excited. Have my first appointment with the midwife on Wednesday.

Can't lie I still am a tad on edge as this is our first so it's all new. So far, I've had light cramping, I'm feeling tired, nipple sensitivity, I smell everything but these are only intermittent. Sometimes my only sign of pregnancy is no AF. Luckily I've had no spotting. Trying to keep life normal (sans booze) and just keeping everything crossed for a smooth pregnancy.

How are you doing? I saw in the thread below that you are changing vitamins. Just wanted to say I found the pre-conception really good. I used them since April 21. Sending positive vibes for your next cycle x

Sorry for delay been a bit manic here! AF arrived I'll be honest I felt relieved as I just had this bad feeling all cycle like something wasn't right. Feeling better now and have decided to take some additional supplements to help thing as little worried about egg quality with the EMC and age. Xx

Oh no just reading up on the posts about DHs it's very hard isn't it to know what to do. Is it safe to stop the tablets?
I've been reading it starts with the egg - quite a lot to take in!!

Hey @LittleDoveLove! Sorry to hear about AF but sounds like it was the right thing this cycle-it's weird how sometimes AF is a relief! Luckily my DP is safe to stop his medicine-he just has to manage some discomfort but hopefully he won't have to tolerate it for long! X

CD9 over here. I actually keep forgetting about the sticks in the morning. 🤦🏻‍♀️ It's because I haven't had time to go and collect them from Boots! I usually start using the OPKS on like CD7... We also usually start DTD by now as well, but we have both been a bit under the weather over the weekend and into this week. So I guess we'll start tomorrow on CD10, which seems late to me!?

I only start on CD10 as ovulate CD17 xx

Hey all! I had highs from cd6 all the way until cd14 when I got a peak finally! Today is ovulation day but have been DTD every other day since cd6 and every day since my peak. I invested in the clear blue fertility monitor which obv makes no real difference but I feel like I'm doing the best I can to get that BFP! 🤣 best of luck to all! X

Hey everyone!!! For some reason didn't get the alerts to these latest posts! Just checking in. CD 10 here and started testing this morning with low fertility. I usually get high fertility days 11/12 then peak day 13! Going to take a different strategy this month and try and DTD two days before ovulation which I read gives you the best chance! Never done it two days before-only one or three!!! So Im just hoping I peak when I usually peak so my counting backwards works! 😂

Feeling very chilled this month though since the discovery that DPs sperm possibly won't be good enough for another three months!!!!!

@MrsRosaline sounds like you're feeling more chilled if you keep forgetting to pee! Did your DH speak to the GP? xxx

No he didn't. He needs to take the pills really for his blood pressure, but I've put him on some conception vitamins so maybe they'll do the trick. Who knows!
