TTC - Ovulation

I have been TTC this month. I got a flashing smiley face on the clearblue OPKS this morning so all is looking good! I would love to talk to anyone else who is also TTC this month... I am currently driving my husband mad as it's all I can talk about. 😊

Hi new to this thread and a newbie to monitoring ovulation! I’ve bought some cheapie ovulation tests from Amazon but clueless as to when I should start to use them. I have shorter cycles 24/25 days so should I start testing around day 9 of my cycle onwards? Any helpful hints and tips gratefully received!!

@AzkabanPrison fingers crossed for your positive test! Try and resist till 11 dpi it's so hard though isn't it.

@Mum2baby07 I have cycles around 24-26 days clear blue says if you have cycles 24 days start testing on day 7. I ovulated cd13 I believe! Not 100% but I'm pretty sure xx

Well I'm a bit confusing now. I'm on my third peak day I didn't think you could have that many?! I'm now 48 hours from my first peak and I do have some cervical fluid (sharing sorry!). I am wondering if today could be the actual peak day.
I am not very positive about conception this month. I think it will be a learning curve of these bloody ovulation sticks and how they work with my cycle. 🥺

So question for you all....does DP ever feel the pressure if he knows your ovulating? After TTC baby number 1 I'm purposely not saying to my partner 'I'm ovulating!' Etc as he felt the pressure last time and it affected him being able to climax on a couple of occasions. However if I'm wanting to have sex three days in a row he will know and I'm just so worried if we DTD tonight and I get a static smiley tomo he won't be able to 'perform' tomo! He LOVES doing it and has a higher sex drive than me abs said he's looking forward to all the extra sex so no issues there!

Any words of wisdom? X

@LittleDoveLove are you using the digital ones or just standard cheapy ones. I don't think I'm gonna use the tests again I've just felt more pressure with them and made it more stressful !! Xx

@Mum2baby07 I started testing on CD9. I have 28-29 day cycles but usually ovulate slightly later. It does always seem a waste because I don't notice any increase until CD11 usually.

@LittleDoveLove Yes I think once you hit your peak the clearblue monitor continues to display it for three days. So I think it's possible to have peak for three days - maybe 24 hours before ovulation and 24 hours after?

@newtolineofduty oh my god I'm in the same boat my husband said we can properly try but he hasn't been able to climax on about 3 occasions as he said his just thinking about it so I said not to worry and just relax and let's not put pressure on it so we ended up not doing it yesterday on my day of ovulation :( I was looking for ways to not make it just like it usually is and not pressured or forced xx

@jkm2793 I'm using the clear blue 4 fertile days 😊

DH is ok here for doing it. He is very keen on another one so I think it's having the reverse effect on him! However we are only on the first month so if it takes us a while I expect this may happen. Maybe just don't actually say the words out loud and initiate it?

My DH also OK so far. We've had a few occasions where we've had to stop and try again 30 mins later. But like @LittleDoveLove said... my husband is the one pushing for baby2!

Thanks for the replies ladies!! Yes I think that's a good suggestion to just come on to him! He's always saying we need to be more spontaneous (easier said than done with children in the house!) x I can just see myself getting frustrated if we don't end up DTD on the right days! It happened with TTC baby 1 though and we just waited an hour and tried again and we conceived on one of those nights! Just got to be patient and hide that frustration I guess! 'Don't worry it's fine!' Said whilst silently seething! 😂 x

@LittleDoveLove I'm wondering if the digital clear blue thing is going to confuse me too! My assumption would be that your first peak day on the stick is your proper peak meaning you'll ovulate the next day. So I'd do it that day, the next day and the day after. I'm assuming the smiley just stays static for that time to remind you to keep doing it! I don't think it's recommended to test again after you've had the first static? Xx

No it isn't recommended but I did it as I hadn't got any other signs so I wasn't sure if it had got my peak right as it detects surge which is usually ovulation but can be a fake surge if egg isn't released (happened when tracking last month, I got 2 surges hence why I had started to test again). Feels quite complicated I might just say we will have W go every 2 night for 2 weeks and see what happens next month 😂 not holding out for this one with this much confusion!
We've been doing it before peak too as read need some live ones up there ready and waiting too 😂 and that fertile window is the 5 days running up to and including O day.

I am quite interested by the sticks though I must say like I am learning a bit about my body. I am expecting it to take a while for us so am quite relaxed about it but it would be good to understand what's actually going on in there 😂

If you have ovulation do you try and have sex that day and the day after or are you no longer fertile the day after. I feel like my LG surge was yesterday and I had cramps yesterday and mild cramps today today and my temp is still slightly up. Xx

LH surge I mean !

@jkm2793 I am doing before and day of peak days as I have read it's better that the sperm can be ready to meet the egg as can survive for a few days , rather than the egg waiting for the sperm as read could miss it as apparently you can release the egg anything from
12-48 hours after the peak reading(or in my case maybe more going by my sticks) but obviously it's hard to know when it's all happening and everyone's cycles are different.
If it doesn't happen this month I will probably just go the whole window and do before during and after!

I think I ovulated last night as I got a little stab pain in my right side for a few seconds and this morning did have some fluid and the third peak but will see. We've got a few candidates up there so will find out how they've got on in 2 weeks 😂

Same, I am due to come on 19th so I may get a FRER and test the 17th? Haha when are you due? X

Urgh tested this afternoon and it's still a flashing smiley. Hopeful for a static one tomorrow! @LittleDoveLove we have also been doing it to make sure there are some ready and waiting! 😂

Hopefully you'll get it tomorrow @MrsRosaline when you get a blank your hoping for a flashing and then I'd be getting peed off every time I saw that flashing face haha

Yes I've seen it too many times! I don't usually start testing this early so I'm not used to it but as this is the first month really trying I didn't want to miss anything!!

Hope you get your static in the morning @MrsRosaline! I'm hoping for mine on weds as I'm out tomorrow night! 😂 xxx
