It's my second. DS is 3.4. He was conceived first month and we were so surprised.
How long have you been trying now @newtolineofduty and @MrsRosaline? We should probably do re introductions. It's so hard to keep track of everyone now.
@MrsRosaline cheapie OPKs only the first two months of tracking. Didn't get a rise the first month I tried them. Then clearblue digital for last two cycles. Plus temping. And yes my fertile signs plus the temping and OPK all agreed date of ovulation.
We were doing SMEP so lots of sex. However we didn't do that this month. We have conceived only DTD on the two days prior to ovulation.
In the taking charge of your fertility book she explains how you shouldn't have lots of sex if your partner has a low sperm count and advises "saving" it for prior to ovulation. I'm wondering did not having as much sex work in our favour this month 🤷♀️
I also read online that sperm takes 10 hours to undergo a process called capacitation. They can't fertilise an egg until this has happened. And once the egg is released it starts degrading in quality immediately and is dead within 6-12 hrs. Studies have shown that most conceptions occur from sex that happened on the two days prior to ovulation. And it is actually quite unlikely that sex during ovulation will result in a pregnancy. So you want those swimmers ready and waiting for the eggs release ideally. TCOYF book talks a lot about the importance of cervical fluid for keeping sperm alive and that sperm can swim through it. If you don't have fertile cervical fluid the sperm die immediately.
All very interesting. I was willing to try anything lol
Would def recommend the book plus it starts with the egg. It recommends COQ10/Ubiquinol for improving egg quality. And get your partners to take wellman conceptions vits too! Men have been advised to do this by fertility clinics and within three months their sperm improved drastically.
