Yeah I’m not sure if flushing the mucus plug will make much of a difference really since our issues are identified but it can’t make matters worse. Who knows how long that blockage was there 🤷‍♀️

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 he’s around but I’m suffering through the rest of the working day right now (not doing a lot but would rather be doing nothing).

AnxiousWannabe · 15/06/2021 15:48

For those IVfers, can I ask if you would go ahead with pgta? If not why ?

Misty84 · 15/06/2021 15:50

That’s an amazing number of follicles @thislittlebird!!
Glad you got your blockage clear, although I can imagine how distressing that must have been in the moment!

ElsieG3m · 15/06/2021 16:02

@thislittlebird well done for doing that - you are very brave and great that you've had a good clear out ready for next cycle or treatment if needed! Great number of follicles too! Hope you recover quickly xx

Marvellouslymadmum · 15/06/2021 16:55

@thislittlebird sorry you're feeling abit rubbish after your hycosy but really good news that they found a blockage and flushed it out! 🤞🏻 that was part of the problem. Hope you get waited on and looked after this evening

thislittlebird · 15/06/2021 17:02

@Misty84 I’m really pleased with the follicle count, all being well it’s the one thing we do have going for us for ivf. Hoping I can get enough that a few will fertilise with his iffy sperm.

Yeah lying there very anxious anyway and then there’s suddenly a blockage and talk of further investigations etc. I panicked, but was relieved when it cleared with the water.

@ElsieG3m I do feel very brave actually 😂. I felt less brave at the time but now it’s done I’m patting myself on the back.

The cramps afterwards though....yikes. I don’t get period cramps so this is a real treat getting a ton of them today as a result of the test Confused. I’m in bed with a hot water bottle.

@AnxiousWannabe have you read the HFEA advice? All the pga stuff I’m not super knowledgeable on but I have read mixed reports.

thislittlebird · 15/06/2021 17:03

@Marvellouslymadmum I’m in bed and I’m not allowed to drink and he’s in the garden having a beer lol. Fingers crossed it’ll improve our chances, maybe the blockage was reducing the percentage of his decent swimmers getting through.

Marvellouslymadmum · 15/06/2021 17:14

@thislittlebird aww that's not fair! Tell him to get his backside indoors and look after you lol, yes that would be a great result! Now they'll have a clearer pathway!!

I'm still yet to find what 'absolutely normal' means for my oh sa but I'm sure it can't all be perfect - he's been laying on the sofa the last year no exercise or anything and was smoking up until a couple of months ago too 🙄 I just don't want it all to be down to me lol

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 15/06/2021 17:25

@Marvellouslymadmum the SA came back absolutely normal? That's awesome!

Marvellouslymadmum · 15/06/2021 17:27

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yes apparently so! Well that's what the letter says, I haven't actually seen the results yet as I've been busy at the times I can call docs for results but I will get round to it just to check, I'm sure it's right though as that was the letter from the fertility centre!

KatRee · 15/06/2021 17:32

@thislittlebird that sounds just about the best result you can get at a HyCoSy- easily movable blockage and lots of follicles spotted! Take it easy now x

@Marvellouslymadmum My OHs SA also came back as normal and I'm like 'how can that be, when you been drinking beer and whiskey almost every day for the last 3 months whilst I've been rattling with supplements?!' Just got to be glad it's one less think to worry aboutI suppose 🤷‍♀️

Marvellouslymadmum · 15/06/2021 17:33

@KatRee yes I'm happy for him really (he's stopped walking around thinking he's a king now lol) and glad it's one less thing to worry about just a bit jealous lol

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 15/06/2021 17:39

@Marvellouslymadmum could well be a recent-ish thing, as in the stopping smoking, cutting out booze, all the supplements of the last 2-3 months have really helped. Just think it sounds really positive for you both, it's a hurdle that's not there!

Marvellouslymadmum · 15/06/2021 18:18

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 yes it could definitely be that, he's changed everything and putting some real effort into it now so it's good he's got a decent result, I know he'd give up a bit if he didn't

Kitekat81 · 15/06/2021 22:00

That's a great follicle count @thislittlebird! That must be reassuring as your chances of successful ivf are substantially higher.

Congrats on the absolutely normal sperm @Marvellouslymadmum 😄

ElsieG3m · 15/06/2021 22:27

@thislittlebird that's great - cramps not so much. My hycosy is coming up in July. Can definitely think of things I'd rather be doing! Hope you feel better soon x

thislittlebird · 16/06/2021 04:55

@Kitekat81 yeah it does improve the chances which is reassuring, but I’m quite concerned by the upcoming SA results, I think his dna frag might be high. Hopefully we can get enough to find a few good sperm in there.

I will say the Lister clinic was nice yesterday. It looked clean and the people were nice.

@KatRee I was relieved when they moved it, it’s stressful to find these things live and I’m lucky it was where it was. Were they good at talking you through your scan when they found a blockage?

@ElsieG3m have you had one before? Definitely better things to do!

The antibiotics are probably worse than the test for me so far. I was really unwell yesterday evening, nausea, headache, stomach pain, it was all very much like bad pms but I assume the antibiotics are what knocked me out more than the test.

Can’t believe they still haven’t sent you the results @Marvellouslymadmum

ElsieG3m · 16/06/2021 06:13

@thislittlebird nope! Not excited about it but will be good to know if there's something going on or if it's all looking ok down there. I did have an examination the other day whilst I was having swabs done and the doctor told me that my bladder prolapse has worsened and the walls of my vagina are now collapsing. She said it shouldn't impact fertility but she needed to speak to someone and come back to me. So guess we'll see

thislittlebird · 16/06/2021 07:56

@ElsieG3m what can they even do about that? Sounds quite serious.

Marvellouslymadmum · 16/06/2021 09:03

@Kitekat81 lol thanks!

@thislittlebird I know they're slacking somewhat! I phoned yesterday for a phone appointment for my daughter and have to wait a week! It's gone mental for some reason!!

KatRee · 16/06/2021 11:23

@thislittlebird I don't really remember. They did the clear tube first, so I could see for myself something was different when they moved to the second one. At first the doctor though there was a chance the catheter was positioned too low, so took it out and reinserted it higher up and when it still wouldn't flow said it was blocked. The tiniest tiniest bit of dye was visible going through on the scan, but mostly it was just running backwards and back up around the clear tube. He said a very determined sperm might actually be able to get through, but the egg would be stuck, so I'm also at risk of an ectopic

AnxiousWannabe · 16/06/2021 11:27

@thislittlebird

Yeah I read up about that and have mixed feelings about it. But both oh and I think as we are old and dying we may have bad quality eggs and sperms. So prefer to check ...

I'm frustrated with my fertility clinic and wanna know if my experience is normal.

My doc (only met virtually at initial consultation) as mentioned isn't big on IVF and wants us to do progesterone and if I'm not ovulating then letrozole.

So I did my progesterone blood test and only got a call saying everything is normal. No further guidance from them which prompted me to ask them about letrozole and IVF. I feel like I'm playing doc here but I don't know what else to do. My oh and I planned to do letrozole for one cycle and then IVF.

The thing is when I called the clinic to tell them about our plans they are lost - they are like oh u can start letroZole and we will get you a prescription and if it fails you will have a review session with our doctor to determine if you want IVF. The problem is we already told them if the letrozole cycle failed we want to be able to start IVF immediately...I mean I don't need a session to review my IVF option again. I am asking them to review as I'm not sure if I am able to start immediately or have to wait for a cycle for the letrozole effect to wear off etc - it seems like the clinic is at a lost.

I have been speaking with customer service and nursing team which are lovely but I just feel like I am being cast away after the first consultation with the doctor.

Is this just me being panicky or the clinic sucks ? We prefer to stick with it because it is nearer for us to access.

AnxiousWannabe · 16/06/2021 11:42

@Misty84
Looks like im starting IVF in August as well!

Noodella18 · 16/06/2021 12:09

@AnxiousWannabe if I remember correctly you're on cycle 5 of trying and that tests have shown that there are no fertility issues with you or your partner? Although maybe an issue with delayed ovulation which you think might be caused by stress? In which case it sounds like your clinic is being responsible in not pushing ivf before other routes are explored. I might have got the details wrong though! It's totally normal for it to take a good few months to conceive, whether you're 25 or 35 and although I don't have experience of it it does sound like IVF is not a stress-free experience. Is there some reason you think you won't be able to conceive naturally?

AnxiousWannabe · 16/06/2021 12:15

@Noodella18
I'm on cycle 6 going on cycle 7 - you have amazing memory !!!!!!!

I'm 39 and I feel time is not on my side. Each day of waiting to get pregger just adds another boulder to my bundle of stress (not joy sigh)
