@Annny27 no as I think they need to weigh and measure me and I don't want any delays. I've decided to chance it now so just channeling positive thoughts and hoping for the best.
Not sure on the oestrogen question unfortunately.
I was and continue to be surrounded by pregnant women, so it just washes over me now. I'm almost numb to it after 18 months of ttc.

Morning all,

Had a bit of an off week this week but have been quietly checking in in the bus! Hope you are all OK ❤

Just a little update from me, had the consultation with the fertility nurse yesturday, she suggested we do the 'fertility check' which consists of an ultrasound and AMH test for me, and a seamen analysis for dp. Then a chat with the consultant to discuss results. Going to get it booked in, should start end of April early May. I told her my blood test results and explained I had concerns my FSH level is high (13.2 iu/L), she said it is a little raised but to take this result with a pinch of salt.... she said someone of my age and the results of my LH, Progesterone and Prolactin levels, the FSH seems off and very unusual, basicallydoesn't add up! So hoping the AMH comes out better 🙏.

notyetamumbuttrying · 02/04/2021 07:51

@RobinRose hey 👋🏾 good to see you back! Good you're going for more tests! Amh and afc will be the best Indicators of egg reserves. My amh is low compared to my afc and fsh so the numbers can be odd! Hope all goes well! ♥️

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/04/2021 09:03

@RobinRose that's great that she said it could be off! Do you mind me asking how much you're paying for the fertility check? I'm looking into them at the moment cos my nhs wait time is ridiculous 😑

@Narwhal88 sorry I missed your news yesterday, so glad you have another little egg to freeze, that's brilliant news. How are you feeling?

RobinRose · 02/04/2021 09:57

@notyetamumbuttrying thank you 😊yes she said the FSH isn't a reliable indicator so they only use AMH!

@Marvellouslymadmum it's £400 with the clinic I am going with which I don't think is too bad! How long is the wait time for nhs?

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/04/2021 10:11

@RobinRose that's better than some I've seen, there's just so many to look at! I was referred on 15th March and got a letter to call and book, called on Wednesday and was told I've been put down as routine on 26th when they triaged the appointment and the wait is approximately 33 weeks from then! I've just turned 42 so I'm totally panicking that the wait is far too long for things to get going!

RobinRose · 02/04/2021 10:34

@Marvellouslymadmum the only clinics in my area are Bourn Hall so not much choice for me! I think Spire do fertility tests but thought it would make sense to keep everything under one roof incase we need treatment? Omg that is such a long time to wait, i can understand why you want to get things moving! What sort of prices are you looking at for fertility tests in your area?

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/04/2021 10:46

@RobinRose I've found two so far that were around the £500-£600 mark which is pricey but I haven't looked at many yet. I was wondering about some kind of private healthcare that may be a better option for the tests then go from there

crazycatlady1981 · 02/04/2021 10:51

@Narwhal88 yay for the extra embryo in the freezer! 😊

@notyetamumbuttrying I would definitely go to appt on 6th and then just isolate the rest of the time! So good that everything is finally happening!! I’ve been really busy this week so it’s making the wait for my appt on 12th speed along nicely! 😬

@RobinRose great to hear about the fertility tests! AMH and afc will give you a much better idea of your overall fertility!

Currently in fw and due to ovulate tomorrow I think, so lots of dtd over Easter weekend! 😀

notyetamumbuttrying · 02/04/2021 12:31

@RobinRose good stuff then! I hope it's ok. If it is low, ask for afc scan.
@crazycatlady1981 yeah I will do. I'm just worried about them seeing I attended as it's the same unit for both appointments. Ah well! I'd rather go to the ivf one over the surgery anyway so if that one gets shifted, so be it! I'm glad the wait is speeding along nicely for you. 🙂
I'm in FW too. Reckon I'll ovulate Sunday so we dtd this morning ✔️

I've just found out my BFFs are pregnant with 2nd baby! Of course I'm happy for them but I am absolutely devastated for us . . . Far more devastated fpr us than happy for them in fact. We had arranged to meet up tomorrow but I just can't bring myself to do it right now after our recent news so I've cancelled. So I'm afraid @Annny27 and @notyetamumbuttrying I don't share your sentiment at all right now @Aimzie @polejunkie I'm more in line with what you're saying. It's just totally devastating. Another friend of mine gave birth a couple of days ago to a baby they've been waiting 7 years for to confound things.

@RobinRose my last FSH test was 13.9 and because they won't test AMH on the NHS they use FSH as the marker, even though it's unreliable and in this area they won't fund IVF if FSH is over 10!!! Found this out last week. Absolutely gutted as we can't afford to self fund

polejunkie · 02/04/2021 13:24

@MIW01 I’m so sorry, it hurts so bad - I know nothing will make you feel any differently about the situation but rest assured you are not alone in how devastated you feel for yourself and you OH and you will feel happy for them once the sting has subsided but what a shitty situation, I find pregnancy announcements the worst but I do somewhat get over it given time. I’m rooting for positive news for you somewhere along this shitty journey and meanwhile just do what you need to do to protect yourself, I think cancelling is the right thing to do x

Narwhal88 · 02/04/2021 14:21

@Marvellouslymadmum thank you, I'm feeling ok. Feel like I need to stop thinking about it but can't 🙈 also worried about doing anything in case it hurts my chances! Did go for a walk yesterday though.

@MIW01 sorry to hear that. I'm with you on the finding it devastating front. I haven't even congratulated my brother & SIL so I am currently the world's worst sister and yet I don't even care as I just can't bring myself to message the words when all I want to say is it's not fair. I want to hide away in a bubble and not see or talk to anyone.
@Annny27 you must be a saint 😂

RobinRose · 02/04/2021 14:41

@Marvellouslymadmum ouch, that is a little pricey, crazy how it varies so much! It could be worth looking into?

@crazycatlady1981 @notyetamumbuttrying
Thank you, I'm going to double check afc is included in the ultrasound they do.

@miw01 uh, it is so hard isn't it? Happy for them but can't help but feel absolutely gutted for yourself. My friends second baby is due next month, she will of had two baby's in the time we have been trying for 1! I think I have become numb to announcements now though. I did read part or your journey, so sorry you've been dealt a shitty hand. Are you going to appeal the NHS decision? Can they re test? Sorry if I have already asked.

Marvellouslymadmum · 02/04/2021 15:39

@Narwhal88 I totally get that! Ttc is so consuming that it's hard to think of anything else most days!

@RobinRose that's what I thought! I'll have a research and see what I can find out

MIW01 · 02/04/2021 21:11

Ugh it is such an emotional roller coaster @RobinRose @Narwhal88 I do still genuinely feel happy for people just at the same time so sad for us . . . And yeah it's a big fat does of, "it's NOT fair" and I think I'm a little fed up with pwc unintentionally patronising, I know they're trying to help but just not helpful right now.

notyetamumbuttrying · 03/04/2021 08:50

@ellarose123 hopefully you can see the tag?

OP posts:
kerrym87 · 03/04/2021 09:30

@MIW01 I wonder if due to your situation you could really push for a referral to a specialist hospital for further opinion, for example if you're being seen at district hospital where is your nearest regional one? Where do you live? You can ask for second opinion too as one doctors decision isn't usually the only opinion or you could ask about another trust as you can choose your hospital to receive care x

Yutes · 03/04/2021 18:13

Hi all. Just checking in.

Waiting to see if my letrozole has worked this cycle.

Totally feel what you are saying @MIW01 it feels like we are constantly waiting our turn. No well meaning patronisation can solve how we feel. Chin up

Annny27 · 04/04/2021 08:24

Happy Easter ladies! Saw this photo and its EGGactly how I want me eggs this year :p

@miw01 sorry you have had some close pregnancy announcements. They always sting :( :(

@narwhal88 how are you feeling lovely? Are you tempted to early test or going to hold on?

@notyetamumbuttrying yeah I think as long as you are taking precautions it's all good to still attend:)

Ttc for what feels like an eternity? Then you've found your bus! No fertile unicorns here, only infertile donkeys!
Narwhal88 · 04/04/2021 10:46

@Annny27 I'm ok thanks, I feel like I have zero symptoms though so I'm just not feeling hopeful even though it's early still. I will be testing next weekend which is 2 days early but I don't want to have to go to work after a negative test. How are you?

Crazydoglady123 · 04/04/2021 13:08

Happy Easter ladies! Hope you're all well

Aimzie · 04/04/2021 13:50

Happy Easter girlies, hope your all doing okay 🐰❤️🐣

Juno231 · 04/04/2021 14:09

Silly question maybe but have anyone of you told your bosses about doing ivf? Mine has definitely been dying to know why I've had to have all these medical appointments so far... Doc told me to take a week off work for the lap just in case and I don't know whether I should tell her what I'm having done or just keep it vague at "surgery"?

Narwhal88 · 04/04/2021 14:18

@Juno231 I told my manager as it just made it easier but it depends how you feel about them knowing? However if you need time off sick then they have the right to see your surgery letter and would then know about the lap. They may not ask to see it though. A lap isn't always related to fertility treatment though and you don't have to explain it.
