@notyetamumbuttrying the consultant asked me if I wanted my tubes flushed again during the lap, it was a combined lap and hysteroscopy so they can definitely do it at the same time. If you are offered an NHS hycosy I'd go and get it done but probably not worth paying for it.

bridgetjones1 · 28/03/2021 14:37

Hi ladies, hope you don’t mind me jumping on, I haven’t been on any conception/infertility boards for a few years. My own history is that I TTC for nearly 10 years, I had five rounds of IVF and was finally blessed with twin girls (who are 2 next week).

Just wanted to give you all a big shout out, you’re all warriors especially going through treatment in the last year. I won’t say “keep positive” I fucking hated that, but I will say keep battling on, keep talking to each other, it really does help.

Xxx

polejunkie · 28/03/2021 15:00

@bridgetjones1 what a lovely post, lots of love to you and your twin girls 😊 x

MiniBaker · 28/03/2021 16:57

@bridgetjones1 thank you for sharing your positivity - twin girls would be my dream 🎉👯‍♀️ Can I ask, was your infertility unexplained or did you have a diagnosis? xx

notyetamumbuttrying · 28/03/2021 17:18

@Narwhal88 no they haven't sent me. Was going to get it done privately. I thought as part of the lap they'll be checking my tubes as endo could be in there right?
@Crazydoglady123 hycosy would be private. Nhs haven't offered it at all! They might at the 6th April but I think they'll just go straight to ivf at that as the funding is approved.
@Motherofkittens28 ok thank you, that's interesting. Perhaps I should wait to hear from the surgeon about the lap then and save my money. Just wanted to get it done before the next appointment as another thing ticked off.
@bridgetjones1 thank you so much for popping on and saying that, it means a lot! Pleased to hear that you were blessed with twins, how lovely 😊

MIW01 · 28/03/2021 17:55

@notyetamumbuttrying & @Narwhal88 there seems to be no consistency at all! So the areas I'm in don't do Laparoscopy but hysteroscopy and HyCoSy (I've had both of those) I've never had a lap. I've had ultrasounds as well.

The maddest thing about the AMH is the GP sent me the guidelines the other day and it references AMH . . . Nowhere in the referral guidelines does it reference basal FSH but they won't test AMH!!!

I'm definitely going to be complaining to a lot of different people about this complete fiasco! @notyetamumbuttrying and @Marvellouslymadmum

bridgetjones1 · 28/03/2021 18:35
@bridgetjones1 thank you for sharing your positivity - twin girls would be my dream 🎉👯‍♀️ Can I ask, was your infertility unexplained or did you have a diagnosis? xx
100% unexplained although my egg quality was appalling (started my first cycle when I was 34). I overstimulated with Gonal F and understimulated with another drug (cannot remember the name, think it began with M 😂)

It is without doubt the hardest thing I’ve ever done, which is why I say anyone who has dealt with infertility or IVF is a total warrior. No one, absolutely no one who hasn’t gone through it understands. Which is why these forums are so important.

notyetamumbuttrying · 28/03/2021 19:00

@MIW01 I'm only getting a lap due to suspected endo. I had 2 referrals going, 1 lap with gyane and 1 ivf due to male factor with assisted conception unit. They might offer me a hycosy at my next appointment but perhaps not if they're doing ivf 🤷🏾‍♀️

@bridgetjones1 100% agree! We're all warriors aren't we 💪🏾 it's great to hear the positive outcomes! Thanks so much for sharing ♥️

Narwhal88 · 28/03/2021 19:27

@notyetamumbuttrying I guess they would check for endo but I dunno if they would know if they were blocked from something else, but it seems @Motherofkittens28 says they can flush them at the same time so you could ask.

@bridgetjones1 lovely to hear a success story, happy birthday to your twins! You are right it is so tough and we are all amazing 🤩

@MIW01 it's so mental how everywhere does something different and they don't follow the NICE guidelines. Sounds like they aren't even following their own guidelines in your case! If the say you can't get funding then you could write to your MP to get them involved and state how many cock ups there have been which have put you in this position.

@Crazydoglady123 you will be fine after coping with those whopper follicles😂 I was really uncomfortable before egg collection but it was only for a couple of days. I'm ok thanks, pretty bored, went for a long walk today. Oh we watched the trailer for the irregulars but my DH wasn't too keen, may have to watch it on my own if it's good. How you feeling about starting ivf on Wednesday?

Crazydoglady123 · 28/03/2021 20:34

@bridgetjones1 it's so nice to hear people having their happy ever afters after this gruelling journey 🤍

@notyetamumbuttrying I'd maybe wait then if you'd have to pay for it.

@Narwhal88 yeah, hopefully! I've watched the whole season today 🙈 I'm actually can't wait, especially knowing the buserelin will shrink these follicles. I feel so much pressure in my abdomen atm

notyetamumbuttrying · 28/03/2021 20:51

@Narwhal88 yeah I'll have to. Just wanted to time it for the April appointment and have everything done and ready but I'll just wait.

@Crazydoglady123 yeah think I will. Hope your abdomen feels better soon! ♥️

Dogmum13 · 28/03/2021 21:26

Does anyone ever get a nipping/pinching feeling in their lower abdomen and pubic area (if that's the right word to use lol)? I have suspected endo so have felt this before but it's been 3 days of it on and off now and it's rather uncomfortable 🙈

Annny27 · 28/03/2021 22:03

@narwhal88 so glad that you have so many fertilised eggs ❤❤❤ when is transfer?

@bridgetjones1 thank you so much for sharing your story- gives me so much hope ❤❤

@notyetamumbuttrying I am having hycosy next month but its nhs, not sure I would pay for one private if I was have a laproscopy

Annny27 · 28/03/2021 22:04

@miw01 that absolutely sucks!!! Deffo good to see what the AMH test says.

It's such a failing from the nhs in terms of womens health - so sorry you are going through this

notyetamumbuttrying · 28/03/2021 22:06

@Dogmum13 I'm pretty sure I get what you're describing. Is it usually when you're due on?

@Annny27 ok thanks, that's what I thought. Wanted to get a consensus that I was doing the right thing by not booking one. Good luck for yours next month!

OP posts:
Dogmum13 · 28/03/2021 22:10

@notyetamumbuttrying no, I'm only 9dpo and had it from 7dpo

MiniBaker · 28/03/2021 22:11

@bridgetjones1 - absolutely - so frustrating when people tell you to just relax and it will happen when you know that there’s so much involved.

Did you ever have acupuncture? I’ve just turned 30 but been TTC for 12 cycles without success. I usually have really very light periods which I feel may be part of the problem. Anyway, since I’ve started having acupuncture my periods are pretty heavy which I feel is a good thing! Unfortunately because of lockdowns - I’ve only had 2 cycles of it that were a few months apart but just wondering if you had acupuncture and if it had a positive impact on you?

notyetamumbuttrying · 28/03/2021 22:28

@Dogmum13 mine stars that soon. Usually a week before I'm due on so 7dpo for me.

@MiniBaker interesting on the acupuncture, that's an amazing difference! Never had it myself but hopefully you can start again soon with the lockdown easing.

OP posts:
MiniBaker · 28/03/2021 22:32

@notyetamumbuttrying yeah it’s a really dramatic difference - I’m hoping it’s a good thing 🙏

Ashleighz88 · 28/03/2021 22:50

Hi,

Would it be ok if I join this group? We've been trying since July 2018 and not even a hint of a BFP. We've been through quite a journey with the nhs already (not a positive experience, numerous mistakes, lost letters etc), I've had tons of blood tests, DH had 3 sperm tests, I've had the dye through my tubes, 4 pelvic ultrasounds. And the only thing that has really shown is lower morphology on the SA.

We've finally got to the referral stage for ivf and had all the repeat tests done, waiting on the appointment for next steps (and I assume a start date for ivf).

This infertility process is absolutely horrendous, I feel isolated from all my friends and I am dreading everything re opening.

Hoping you all don't mind me joining x

Ashleighz88 · 28/03/2021 22:55

@MiniBaker I also have really light periods since coming off the pill, but I've had ultrasounds at ovulation and in the lutual phase and been told my lining is fine so it isn't always an issue. But it definitely can be an issue. I have a friend that had light periods after coming off the pill, it took 1 year for them to start getting a bit heavier and she did manage to conceive within 3 months of them being slightly heavier, the fertility clinic also told me that the pill can cause thin lining for some women. I think the fact yours have got heavier is really positive. X

MiniBaker · 28/03/2021 23:14

@Ashleighz88
It sounds like you’ve really been through it! So sorry to hear the NHS has been a difficult process for you. Great to hear you are at referral stage! Hopefully you can get the ball rolling ahead of things opening up again.

It’s interesting you mention that as I suspected it was related to being on the pill for so long - I had been on the pill for nearly 15 years and before that my periods used to be super heavy so have been surprised how light they’ve been since coming off it.

Ashleighz88 · 28/03/2021 23:28

@MiniBaker yes I've spoken to many on here (some I've become good friends with) around light periods, I think it's more common than we think. The specialist basically said that the pill artificially changes your hormones so it stops the lining becoming thick and therefore once we come off the pill some women's bodies struggle to switch back, the majority switch back quickly and this is why most women get pregnant quickly after stopping, but it can take a longer time for some. Hopefully now you've seen yours get heavier it can only be a good sign. My friend is convinced it took a year for her body to get back to normal. x

Marvellouslymadmum · 28/03/2021 23:41

@bridgetjones1 aww it's so nice to hear a positive story! I would absolutely adore twins 😍 thank you for sharing

@Crazydoglady123 hope your abdomen feels better soon!

@Dogmum13 I get that, sometimes around ovulation then between then and af

Hi @Ashleighz88 welcome to the group, sorry it's been a tough journey for you and you feel isolated from your friends, Good that you're getting your referral now though. I love coming on here and having a good chat or rant with these lovely ladies, it's been amazing for me. No one knows we are going through all this, it's just a difficult thing to talk about and I always feel like I'll get upset if I start talking about it irl and sympathy is not helpful!

I've been thoroughly spoiled today, lovely pressies and a takeaway so no cooking! And I'm now firmly heading into the tww - adding rhr to the things I'm trying not to obsess over as I got an Apple Watch!

Dogmum13 · 28/03/2021 23:48

Thanks guys 🙂 I've never had it so extreme before. It kept me up til 3am last night 🤦‍♀️ hopefully tonight is better 🤞
