@Narwhal88 our appointment is to go over the questionnaire we filled out, I guess to suggest lifestyle changes (if any) dicuss possible tests we can do and treatments available!

Marvellouslymadmum · 25/03/2021 09:53

@PeanutButterBrownies sorry af showed up, but yay to a drink on your birthday! When is yours? Mine is Sunday and just went in to my fw today so no drinkies for me lol

@Narwhal88 ooh are you excited, nervous or nervcited? Loving that everyone's moving on to their next steps here!

MiniBaker · 25/03/2021 10:32

Hi Everyone! Am I able to join? I came off the pill December 2019 but actively started trying to conceive May 2020...

I have regular cycles around 28 days and OPKs show peak at roughly the same time each month give or take a day but it’s still not happened for us - no chemicals that I am aware of and no MCs. So I do think something is not right - but yet to find out what. NHS blood test came back normal and DH’s SA normal too. So have booked in for private AMH test and ultrasound to get a bit more info.

The main thing I have noticed is I never ever see EWCM - I do get CM which is a bit more slippery around ovulation but never much and it’s never clear nor stretchy. Does anyone else have this issue? Im sure it is one of my problems... plus I’ve stressed lots about TTC but I really don’t know how not to when it’s something you want so much.

Thanks 🙏

Narwhal88 · 25/03/2021 10:36

@notyetamumbuttrying yep eeek!
@RobinRose hopefully you can get the ball rolling then! If you have any questions then lots of us here have done every test so happy to answer anything you want to know.
@Marvellouslymadmum I am mostly anxious and nervous at the moment rather than excited. Scared of how many eggs we will get and then how many will fertilise.

IVF is even tougher mentally than I imagined as everything you have waited for has come to a head and this is it. I feel like I'm constantly about to burst into tears! Though that might be all the hormones as well. I think it's even worse in a pandemic as we can't do anything or go anywhere to take our minds off it and I'm having to go into every scan, inc egg collection and transfer, on my own.

Crazydoglady123 · 25/03/2021 10:52

@Narwhal88 I totally get that. It's so hard to not pin all your hopes on ivf. I'm finding it hard to keep a balance between being positive but not getting my hopes up and I'm not even at your stage yet! It's so crap it's such a numbers game and even if you get a good number on collection, there's so many more stages to get through and like you say hormones in the mix! I'm glad your not in too much discomfort though. Are you still feeling sick? Have you got anything good to watch to take your mind off things? I can give you lots of recommendations on Netflix 🤣

@MiniBaker welcome! Have you tried preseed?

Crazydoglady123 · 25/03/2021 10:55

Also @Narwhal88 how comes your OH can't go in with you? My OH cringes at being with me through it but I'm taking him with me for a scan Saturday with my private lady to see if I have any cysts from the Clomid this time and even that he's trying to get out of 🤦🏽‍♀️ On our planning appointment they said he can be with me on the transfer but doesn't have to be

Marvellouslymadmum · 25/03/2021 11:17

Hi @MiniBaker have you tried adding a few supplements and other bits to your diet to improve the ewcm? I don't always get any at all and sometimes get loads so I've added a few things to see if they help, you can also get preceed or conceive plus lubes that kind of replace it when dtd

@Narwhal88 I understand that, let's hope for lots of little eggies for you!

crazycatlady1981 · 25/03/2021 12:30

@PeanutButterBrownies sorry to hear af arrived, but yay to having a birthday drink!!

@notyetamumbuttrying is your appointment on 6th a telephone/zoom one or in person? Mine is zoom!

@polejunkie we’re in Dorset, our choices were bath, Salisbury or Southampton and we had already been to bath for private consultations and it was quite easy to get to, so went with them anyway! They’ve got good reviews too! 🤞🏻

@Narwhal88 so excited for you for tomorrow! Will be sending lots of eggie vibes your way! 🥚🥚🥚

DH had jab yesterday and is feeling rough, but I’m hoping he’ll be up for some bd’ing later on or tomorrow morning! If this is our last month of trying naturally, I want to make it count!! 😊

Narwhal88 · 25/03/2021 12:56

@Crazydoglady123 no I'm not feeling sick now, though a bit off but that is the anxiety. I feel like I have watched nearly all of Netflix already 😂 please throw recommendations my way though! The nurse told me to tell my husband he has to wait on me hand and foot so looking forward to that haha.
My husband isn't allowed into the building at all due to their covid rules. He hasn't been in with me to any scans and even tomorrow he has to wait in the car until they come and get him so he can do his sample and then has to go back to the car and wait for me. At the moment he isn't allowed in for transfer either which is really sad, but they have said to check the day before just in case the rules change as they review it every 2 weeks.

Narwhal88 · 25/03/2021 12:56

Thank you @Marvellouslymadmum @crazycatlady1981

notyetamumbuttrying · 25/03/2021 13:02

@MiniBaker welcome! I don't really notice ewcm either. Evening primrose oil and grapefruit juice were the two that did it for me. Try that if you haven't already.
@Narwhal88 that sounds tough! Will Dh be able to come with you when things still opening bk up? Have they said yet?
@crazycatlady1981 it's face to face. I imagine I'll get weighed etc. Ah hope Dh doesn't suffer too much! Be a shame to miss your last month. Our last FW will be at the appointment so we'll need to dtd that morning before we go 😂

@Narwhal88 ah just seen you said two weeks. Hope it happens!

Juno231 · 25/03/2021 13:12

@MiniBaker welcome! I swear by evening primrose oil for EWCM. I used to have none or only a little bit every couple of months but since I started taking it I have a good amount each cycle! Key is to stop taking it once you ovulation day.

@Narwhal88 got everything crossed for you!

Apologies if some of you have read this on the other thread but thought I'd give you all an update on my fertility appointment this morning. I had my results follow up appointment with the doc (had repeat bloods, repeat SA, and US and HSG done) and all test results are fine (AMH of 21.3 so I'm relieved) and OH's SA showed 84m/ml, 7% morphology and 72% motility so that's really good too. So basically she said I am officially diagnosed as having unexplained infertility. Next steps is waiting until the two year mark to apply for IVF. I came off the pill Sep 2019 but I'm down in their system as July so I'm not gonna argue that...

I asked her whether we'd be good candidates for IUI (privately) and she said no there's no point as I ovulate well and there's no MFI so there's no added benefit to it compared to just good old regular BD.

She did offer to refer me for a laparoscopy so that's what I'll be waiting for next. Apparently it's not uncommon for unexplained infertility to be due to silent endo so they'll check me for that and any scarring from previous infections.

Crazydoglady123 · 25/03/2021 13:13

@Narwhal88 god I hope they don't tell my OH to wait on me as I'm like my OH's carer 😂🙈 You need to take it easy though. Such a shame he can't. I hope it changes in time for your transfer 🤞
Right so tv wise... not sure if it's on Sky only but we watched "Your Honour" recently and that was really good! I know I've said it loads but Reign. Also love things like Gossip Girl. Why has my mind gone blank now 🙈 I will have a think

Crazydoglady123 · 25/03/2021 13:16

Oh wow @Juno231 that's annoying but good if that makes sense!? Your OH count is really good! It must be so frustrating having unexplained as you don't know what to do to help it 🤷🏽‍♀️ So July will be when you can start IVF route? That's exciting!

Sjhigs · 25/03/2021 13:24

Hi ladies hope you are all well been super quiet this week got floored with covid vaccine only starting to come around a little today

Af showed up for me last month again no surprises there

Lots of luck to each of you this month 💕

notyetamumbuttrying · 25/03/2021 13:30

@Juno231 I've replied on the other group but that's so good! Let's just hope natural will work and it's just taking longer!

@Sjhigs aw bless you, glad you're feeling better now. Was it the Oxford one? Aww so will you be in FW soon then? Thanks for the luck, will need it!!

Sjhigs · 25/03/2021 13:47

@notyetamumbuttrying yes Oxford been a rough week

Yep start the testing next week for the millionth time 🤦‍♀️ finally got my consultation date for my private clinic all bizz to get started x

MiniBaker · 25/03/2021 13:55

@Crazydoglady123 thank you 🙏 yes I actually tried preseed for the first time this month - it’s easy to use but just concerned I’m not producing any of my own...

MiniBaker · 25/03/2021 14:00

@Marvellouslymadmum thank you for the welcome - tried eating loads of leafy greens, drinking grapefruit juice and I’ve tried pregnacare vitamins but nothing seems to make me produce any - I have used preseed which i thought was great so will continue to use that too 👍 it’s amazing how I never knew any of this before TTC!

MiniBaker · 25/03/2021 14:02

@notyetamumbuttrying
I’ve heard loads of great things about grapefruit juice! But I did try it for a few months and nothing changed and I don’t really like the taste so I stopped 😂 I will try evening primrose oil as I have not used that before! It’s worth giving it a shot. Thank you 🙏

MiniBaker · 25/03/2021 14:15

@Juno231 great suggestion I will definitely be trying the evening primrose oil. It’s so interesting reading your story. Thank you for sharing as I did not know this about IUI - I’ve just got the ball rolling with a private fertility clinic and was thinking do we have to pay for IUI first and then IVF or are we able to go straight in with IVF if they do not find anything obvious from the results... which is my gut feeling for some reason.

What is MFI? Good luck with your journey - I’m sure your patience will pay off 👶 xx

Juno231 · 25/03/2021 14:22

@MiniBaker male factor infertility. So eg some clinics recommend IUI if they think the swimmers could use the boost or if ovulation seems weak and then they support it with clomid as well. I think it's something they do for mild endometriosis too. It doesn't hurt to try it but the success rates are low per cycle (10+% I think) so I think she didn't want us to spend our money on it for the sake of it. One of the ladies on here is getting it through the NHS before IVF and I'd jump on that opportunity!

MiniBaker · 25/03/2021 14:22

Also - sorry for another question, last one for now I promise - but I feel I’m amongst people in the know - Does anyone else regularly spot 3/4 days before AF starts? I seem to always spot darkish colour for many days before it starts in full flow and this happens from like 10/11 DPO until AF starts properly at 14DPO I’m wondering if this is a sign of some kind of issue? xx

MiniBaker · 25/03/2021 14:28

@Juno231ahh I see. Right my husband’s had his SA and they came back really good and I’ve had the 21 days blood test which was normal so I’m guessing that route might not be worth it for us...

How are you feeling about the idea of IVF? Is it something you’re keen to get going with or are you hesitant?

xx
