TTC baby #2 March Bus

Hey 😋

Thought I would start a thread for people trying to conceive their 2nd child. Hope some of you lovely ladies want to join in to keep each other sane!

So as I said I’m TTC #2. This is my first cycle. I’ve been tracking my period on the Flo app since my DS was born so have a good idea of my ovulation window. According to the app I’m due to ovulate tomorrow but I got a stronger result on a clear blue ovulation test yesterday than what I did today. DTD yesterday and hopefully again today if we find the time.

My first pregnancy was kind of unexpected i fell pregnant very quickly - around 2 months - after coming off the pill. I have not been on the pill for over a year and have been using condoms instead so it will be interesting to see how long it will take this time.

Please feel free to share your journey so far xx

I am 100% calling it the SMEG plan from now on. To nobody apart from here but still 😁
If we do OPKs we'd be seeing lines everywhere!

March/April is going to be a good month for us all - seemed to work for most of us last time 🙈

tuxedocat · 22/03/2021 19:49

@moonpie32 so true 🤣🤣🤣

May2311 · 22/03/2021 20:08

I'm feeling extremely positive that SMEG is the way to go 🤣

JJ94 · 22/03/2021 21:23

SMEG 😂

moonpie32 · 22/03/2021 21:29

It sounds like some monster from the bottom of a horrible lake! THE SMEG 😂

Maybe it's what we turn into during fertile window? 😁

moonpie32 · 22/03/2021 21:29

I'm well aware of what I've just said and it makes me sound like an idiot 😂 it's lack of sleep I promise!

Fuiseog · 23/03/2021 07:00

Just for reassurance, my first baby was born on December 27th 😁❤️😂 Having her so close to Christmas was a much bigger deal in theory... Once the time came around, we were so glad to have her, and by then you're used to the idea and are already thinking of ways to make it special. We were still glad to avoid Christmas Day itself all the same 🤣 But clearly this hasn't put us off going for a December baby again... This is the time of year/cycle we conceived her on!

tuxedocat · 23/03/2021 07:14

@Fuiseog I think it’s a lucky cycle for us all 🤞🏻 It’s the same this time. I think you’re right that the thought of it sounds way worse than it is. Above all we all just want a healthy babe 🥰

The SMEG monster 🤣 you’re right it’s like what unveils itself when we feel ourselves come near the fertile window 😂😂

feliznavidad2 · 23/03/2021 07:49

Our now 4yo was due 15th Jan and ended up coming on NY day after a 4 day induction due to obstetric cholestasis.

I'm not keen for an Xmas day baby by any means but as last time showed me; there's quite a bit of variability between when they should come out, and when they do come out.

(I cried last time as couldn't eat as much Xmas lunch as I wanted to due to heartburn/being huge.) 😆

tuxedocat · 23/03/2021 07:53

You’re so right - my son was due 6th of Dec so we were prepared to go up to the 20th being overdue - he came out on 28th Nov due to being induced with obstetric cholestasis!

It makes me nervy to think about it coming back this time and for that I’m assuming I would likely be earlier than later but who knows!

I really love how we all have babes around a similar time already. Must be kindred spirits 💞

feliznavidad2 · 23/03/2021 08:08

@tuxedocat A bit off subject but are you concerned about having OC again in future pregnancies? I'm told it's not a given but quite likely.

I wish I could go back to my naive pre-DS1 brain when TTC no. 2 as I'm so much more aware of issues/complications/etc etc this time around.

tuxedocat · 23/03/2021 08:25

@feliznavidad2 honestly, I’m so nervous. It’s taken us so long to finally go for TTC#2 because of it! I was induced at 38+6 within 24hrs of being admitted and they told me it would be very likely though obviously no one can say.
Weirdly enough I had some antibiotics for an infected tooth and they made me itch (it said not to use with liver conditions but I didn’t think it would class as preexisting) so I’m assuming my liver is sensitive 😖 which makes me think I’m likely to get it again.

I agree tho I think I worry more anyway cos I was so naive with my son and I understand so much more this time. Esp the stillbirth risk and I sadly know of someone who lost their first baby to OC 💔

How are you feeling?

Ktd88 · 23/03/2021 08:38

Just catching up on the thread and had to google what SMEP is... I am so not clued up!

I can understand the nervousness @tuxedocat , a small piece of comfort could be that because you’ve had it before I imagine the midwifes and doctors will keep a super close eye on everything and look after you as much as possible ❤️.

We had a terrible nights sleep last night... DD was up so much (I think with teething) and I had one of those ‘how on earth are we going to do this with 2??!’ Moments!

Hope everyone has a lovely day X

Laureatus · 23/03/2021 09:04

@tuxedocat I have an idea what you mean. I had a bit of OC - bizarrely I had it for a week just before 37 weeks so they were considering induction at 37wks, but then my levels went back to normal and the itch disappeared. In the end ds decided to arrive 9 days early naturally after I was on antibiotics for something else - we were NOT ready. I finished work on Friday and went into labour on Monday evening, just after my HV had come round to introduce herself. So she met me again on maternity the next evening!

tuxedocat · 23/03/2021 09:22

@Ktd88 you’re so right that’s the only thing that gives me comfort, though I’m always surprised how many people don’t know what it is still!
Hope today is restful for you - I get those moments but then I had them before we had our son and now it’s like, I can’t imagine getting up and out the house alone?!

@Laureatus oh wow! That’s a quick turn around 🤣 we weren’t ready for an early arrival either - we moved into our reno house in the sept so ripped everything out and I was still painting two days before I went in 😂 I cried when they told me I would be induced because I had really been so ignorant about it 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ Makes me laugh now so at least this time I know that won’t the the case 😂

moonpie32 · 23/03/2021 11:30

@Laureatus that sounds almost the same as me. HV app on the Friday, who referred me for a scan. Finished work, scan on Monday, induced Tuesday and DC arrived on same day. 9 days early.

How is everyone today?

tuxedocat · 23/03/2021 13:08

I’m still in limbo! I thought things were getting heavier yesterday but it’s tailed off and now I’m in weird limbo land 😩
Other than that today isn’t too bad - I have a v emotional child today which is always fun 😂

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

May2311 · 23/03/2021 13:21

Afternoon all!

My LO has been a little poorly with a cold/teeth so very clingy today ❤️ nice snuggles at least 🥰

I'm feeling a bit sickly today( IS IT A SIGN) probably lack of sleep as DD has been disturbed at night also 🤣

@tuxedocat that's frustrating!! Perhaps you should try testing again? Then at least you know for sure- did you defo ovulate around 6th? Xx

tuxedocat · 23/03/2021 14:06

@May2311 oh no - at least the cuddles are lovely!!

I don’t know for sure as I didn’t OPK but I’m fairly due to CM and feeling v bloated and the like. I’ll see how this goes on for but I’m loathed to waste a FRER if you know what I mean 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

May2311 · 23/03/2021 14:29

Perhaps see how it goes & then try testing in the morning. Defo try with FMU though. Fingers crossed it is implantation!!! Xx

feliznavidad2 · 23/03/2021 20:59

@tuxedocat very similar feelings. I was induced at 37+something and DS1 was born at 38 weeks. He really didn't want to come out though and when he did, he was dinky and skinny legged. It's taken us ages to decide to try for no.2, DS1 will be at least five years old unless we conceive this month. 😳

In a weird way, I'm sort of glad I know of potential problems that can happen as I guess last time, ignorance is bliss until it isn't - if you see what I mean.

Good luck to you, will be sure to seek you out for solidarity if get OC again. 🥴 (Though need to get pregnant first...!) 😆

feliznavidad2 · 23/03/2021 21:03

@tuxedocat very conscious that my stance has gone from wanting to be naive to issues to now being glad I know of potential problems before they begin (and this total U turn has apparently occurred in the last 13 hours). Blaming tiredness and being overworked. Just call me Mrs Contradictory. ConfusedWink

tuxedocat · 23/03/2021 21:25

@feliznavidad2 I completely understand what you mean!
I swing from being worried and then being fine because I know to advocate it and push for regular bloods, but either way, it’s still terrifying knowing you are kind of almost walking into a line of fire. There’s also more responsibility at stake (more monitoring, likely induction etc and as a typical mum you worry about the impact on everyone else!) but I know full well it will be worth it.
Our DS will be 4 by the time we have baby #2, so very similar here!

🤞🏻 To pregnancies that are hopefully OC free 💞 and if not, it’s good to know of each other - will be interesting to see how our journeys pan out! 💕

feliznavidad2 · 24/03/2021 06:45

@tuxedocat here here. 😊

Have a good day all. I am (impatiently) waiting for AF to return as only stopped taking the pill a couple of weeks ago. I don't really know where I am until I've had a period(!)

tuxedocat · 24/03/2021 08:46

Morning ladies.

My spotting has tailed off to nothing so I took a FRER with FMU and it’s as negative as can be. I have no idea what’s going on!
I’m on CD34 if I don’t count the spotting because it doesn’t feel heavy enough to be an actual period
