Hey 😋

Thought I would start a thread for people trying to conceive their 2nd child. Hope some of you lovely ladies want to join in to keep each other sane!

So as I said I’m TTC #2. This is my first cycle. I’ve been tracking my period on the Flo app since my DS was born so have a good idea of my ovulation window. According to the app I’m due to ovulate tomorrow but I got a stronger result on a clear blue ovulation test yesterday than what I did today. DTD yesterday and hopefully again today if we find the time.

My first pregnancy was kind of unexpected i fell pregnant very quickly - around 2 months - after coming off the pill. I have not been on the pill for over a year and have been using condoms instead so it will be interesting to see how long it will take this time.

Please feel free to share your journey so far xx

@tuxedocat no not all!! We had the same thing, lots of people told us how awful it would be and we had the same conversation eg. "should we skip April" but also decided that we'd just keep going. You're absolutely right, it's impossible to plan because you just never know! We carried on thinking that this time round it might take a little longer... it would be so ironic if we get lucky this month and then have two Christmas babies!

Laureatus · 22/03/2021 08:59

Hi all! I don't think we've got much chance this month but I'm joining anyway for the fun! We're not actively TTC - ds is 17m so we're going to wait a bit longer - but he has his first night at my in-laws on Saturday so we DTD Sunday morning after being out for dinner 🤣. I put it in Flo just in case, and it said it was ovulation day! I ran out of the pill in January so I don't have much reliable tracking in Flo, but we'll see. Last time I didn't have any symptoms at all (I never got nausea or anything in T1), but I just had a feeling. Good luck everyone x

JJ94 · 22/03/2021 09:04

@Ktd88 what a special time of year it would be with two birthdays and Christmas too

@Laureatus that sounds like it was well timed, even if it was unintentional! Smile how was your first night without DS? I've never spent a night away from our 18month DS yet, i think i'd be worrying all night but i'm such an overthinker!

tuxedocat · 22/03/2021 09:15

@Ktd88 that was our thoughts - we already have a late nov so it would be no difference for us to have one nov/Dec anyway! After this last year I feel like a cosy winter with a newborn would be wonderful 🥰

As our son gets older we said we’ll probably end up doing a ‘half birthday’ in June so he can have bigger presents (like a bike) and get use out of it. It can certainly be tricky buying so close to Christmas! For the minute he thinks it bloody brilliant getting so much so close 😂

I’m still spotting this morning, it died off a little but I’m expecting it to probably end up getting worse. The only positive is that my first cycle off the pill was around 31 days which isn’t too bad 🤞🏻

moonpie32 · 22/03/2021 10:30

@tuxedocat please don't think you've offended anyone cos you certainly didn't offend me! December is a mental month for us so why not add to it Grin

Can barely catch up on the messages this morning! Welcome to all the new people on the board!

AF has arrived with full force this morning Sad which was obv expected but still a little sad. At least now I can focus on this cycle 💪🏻

May2311 · 22/03/2021 10:32

@moonpie32 I'm sorry 😖 at least you have the certainty now plus you can think ahead for this cycle!!

@tuxedocat I am a late Nov and my parents used to do a half birthday for me in July 🤣 used to have a mini party ( usually garden party) as well! X

tuxedocat · 22/03/2021 10:35

@moonpie32 so sorry AF has arrived. I think I’ll be joining you in not so long, I’m hoping it hurries soon - at least we will be on a similar cycle if so! 💞 take today for yourself

@May2311 ahhh amazing! I love that it’s an actual thing. A summer garden party sounds brill (this year more than ever!!)

moonpie32 · 22/03/2021 11:39

@May2311 my husband always thought I was daft for suggesting a half birthday but now we have a garden I think he is all for it! A wee garden party sounds fabulous!

@tuxedocat aw I hope not for you. But if so we can go into cycle 2 together with @JJ94 ☺️ I'm gonna have an extra hot long bath tonight 😂

tuxedocat · 22/03/2021 12:46

I think AF is here as TMI - things are getting redder 😖 but never mind CD1 is today I guess and I remember my first period off the pill last time was light so I think it’s the same.

Onto the next cycle with you guys @moonpie32 @May2311🥰 @JJ94 you’ll be leading the way this week am I right?!

JJ94 · 22/03/2021 13:36

@May2311 and @tuxedocat sorry AF has arrived.

Let's all make Christmas babies!! 🙈

JJ94 · 22/03/2021 13:37

It's one way to dodge the washing up on xmas day if we have a newborn? 🙈 xx

tuxedocat · 22/03/2021 13:45

@JJ94 🤣🤣 I like your thinking
Get your Christmas hats on ladies 🥳🤶🏻🎅🏻

One positive - the first Xmas with the family together since covid with a tiny baby would be super special right?!

JJ94 · 22/03/2021 14:12

@tuxedocat definitely! It would be amazing ❤️

May2311 · 22/03/2021 14:33

I'm only 6DPO ladies ( it probably just feels like I've been waiting longer as I moan so much about it 🤣🤣🤣🤣) if I fall it will still be a December baby and it would be absolutely lovely Xmas day with family and newborn etc. Xxx

Laureatus · 22/03/2021 15:18

@JJ94 aww thanks - it was ok as we were not far down the road anyway if needed. He has 2 days a week at my in-laws so he's comfortable there. We dropped him off at 6 and got an update that he was asleep at 8.30. He's usually pretty nocturnal but I just knew he'd be angelic for his grandparents.

moonpie32 · 22/03/2021 15:48

@tuxedocat see that's what I was unsure about. Whether I classes Thursday last week as CD1 or today. I'm so lost 😂

Can't wait for Xmas babies. Not gonna lie I put it in the calc I posted previously as today's for LMP and it came up Xmas day. Fab!

@Laureatus it's always the way that they are perfect for grandparents!

May2311 · 22/03/2021 16:08

@moonpie32 ahhhh can you imagine have special that would be!!!! So my understanding is CD1 is the first day you have full flow. Xx

tuxedocat · 22/03/2021 16:18

@moonpie32 I agree with @May2311 do from first flow

If I have a 33 day cycle again mine would be 01/01/22 😂 if it’s anything like my previous cycles off the pill this one will even out to be shorter

Im debating SMEG plan this cycle but without an OPK.. so not really like it at all 😂

moonpie32 · 22/03/2021 16:22

@May2311 @tuxedocat thanks both. That's gonna change my fertile window!
Ha I know not so sure id like to be in hospital on Xmas day though!
I'm gonna do SMEP without OPKs this month 😂 see how that works out 🙈

tuxedocat · 22/03/2021 16:33

@moonpie32 yeah Christmas Day is probably the one you’d not want it on!

Haha yes same here! I’m tempted by OPK’s but I’ve never used them and I think they might stress me out more so perhaps we’ll try a regular pattern and then if I notice my fertile window we’ll DTD daily

Ovia has my fertile window down on day 17 which I think I’ll have to add on a bit on the front of my cycle ends up shorter so I’m thinking the basics of SMEP would work well

Also AS IF I called it the SMEG plan ffs 😂😂 I did wonder what a weird name that would be for something like that

moonpie32 · 22/03/2021 16:45

@tuxedocat I used them before and not gonna lie I didn't like using them. I never seemed to get a peak. So the 2 months I didn't use it, I used conceive plus, SMEP and was pregnant 2nd month 🤷🏻‍♀️ so I think I'm gonna avoid again. Think it's too stressful and too much testing.

I think it works well especially if you start it before potential fertile window too as your covering every single base possible. However it takes a lot out of you.
I didn't even notice you said SMEG 😂😂

tuxedocat · 22/03/2021 16:54

@moonpie32 I agree! I’m sure for some people it works well but the thought alone makes me feel abit like ‘am I doing it wrong?!’ So I think we’ll go with the flow and try the SMEP - it feels nice to have some kind of routine to follow so at least both parties know what to expect and when 🤣

bet we don’t say that at the end of it 😂🥱

May2311 · 22/03/2021 17:41

@moonpie32 @tuxedocat I like the sound of SMEG better 😉 I think your doing it the right way try not to add to the stress with peeing on sticks and wondering if it's peak or not- if you do SMEP you should catch it anyways! X

moonpie32 · 22/03/2021 18:07

@tuxedocat yeah that was my thoughts. Like is it peak is it not? I see people cellotaping their sticks to paper and everything. Not for me!
Hopefully we all manage it between this cycle and next!

tuxedocat · 22/03/2021 19:26

@May2311 I hearby rename the SMEP plan... the SMEG! only for those special ones on the March bus 🥳🥳

That’s what I thought - the plan alone should be quite hopeful 🤞🏻

SMEG plan here we come @moonpie32! Yeah no cellotaped sticks for us - we’ll save our line eyes for our BFP’s for this cycle! 🤞🏻💞
