Hi ladies

I'm 23 and my partner (27) and I are TTC baby #1!

It was our first month trying this month and AF is due 2nd/3rd of March, so far just BFN! My cycle is roughly 26/27 days! But didn't expect to get pregnant first cycle so I'm feeling ok 👌🏼

Anyone else TTC baby no 1 with a similar cycle? 🥰 xx

@HopingForBabyM2021 I actually find it really exciting testing I get all excited when I see my peak!! 😂

@Kty09 think it depends on which OPKs you use I see some that are super faint on both lines - which do you use ?? X

@Genevive123 I have those cheap one step ones off amazon. Not sure wether to try another brand or just see how it goes this month first x

Annwen · 08/03/2021 11:33

@Genevive123 @Kty09 We're just leaving it to nature this first month - plenty of lovin going on here these days anyway Grin

Neom87 · 08/03/2021 14:07

@genevive123 I've been on the pill since I was 16, so basically half my life! I have no idea how long my cycle was prior to the pill!

@kty09 I know the feeling. I was the same seeing no lines or really faint ones, just felt like i was wasting them! I'm going to step it up this months though and do them twice a day,I think the line can come on strong all if a sudden so will try not to get fed up of light ones as a high/peak could be just around the corner!

HopingForBabyM2021 · 08/03/2021 14:54

I'm also going to step it up this month with OPKs! Feel like once I get an understanding of my cycle, I'll feel much more in control. I'm awful for always thinking the worst, my latest catastrophe being that I'm scared that I don't ovulate 😂😂 looking forward to the OPKs putting that one to rest.

What's everyone doing about not eating certain foods and doing certain things etc whilst TTC? I am so on the fence about whether to keep drinking my beloved g&ts until I get a BFP, especially as pub gardens are due to open soon! Imagine it taking months and months and not enjoying a drink in the sun!? Also hearing s lot about both baths during the TWW? So many things to think about, I always thought this was meant to be easy! 😂 Xx

Kty09 · 08/03/2021 15:07

@Neom87 glad it’s not just me! I also hear everyone is different - some get a gradual rise in LH and some get a few random peaks so you’re right.
@HopingForBabyM2021 to be honest I think you end up driving yourself mad changing lots of things in your life - sooo many people get caught without changing a thing! I’d probs be more likely to avoid alcohol in the TWW but I’ve still had a cheeky G&T every now and again haha. I hear hot baths for men are one of the main to keep good swimmers haha? Luckily mine doesn’t ever get them! I think when it consumes your life that’s when you start to get a bit stressed about it xx

Neom87 · 08/03/2021 15:15

@hopingforababy2021 its frustrating not being in control, in like you no idea if I have ovulate since I came off the pill. Its the not knowing that's the worst. Once I decide I'm doing something I want to do it and plan it! Grin I did have a funny feeling last month, like a sudden twitch around where my ovaries would be, it happened twice close together whilst I was bed and my body physically jumped, I wonder if that was ovulation! I also like a good g&t, and haven't stopped drinking yet, I don't feel like I am anywhere near being pregnant. Perhaps when I get a handle on my cycles I feel different. I didn't know abiut the bath thing, I have never been a bath person but funnily enough in the last couple of months I have started getting into them. Are you not supposed to have baths or is is just particularly hot ones?

Timetobeamummy · 08/03/2021 15:23

@HopingForBabyM2021 when you start paying attention to your body it’s amazing the things that happen that you never realised before. That then causes you to overthink from my experience. I went years without realising things like cramps even existed for me 🤣🙈

I’ve cut down caffeine to some degree but still probably above the recommendation. Not given up alcohol I mean lockdown is bad enough although trying to stick to when AF arrives and drowning my sorrows with a G&T.

@Neom87 i think it’s recommended for men not to have a hot bath to keep themselves cool down there and help the swimmers. My OH never had one and then all of a sudden started having one once a week. He is now banned showers only. 😁

Kty09 · 08/03/2021 15:32

Yes I’ve switched to decaf drinks now too actually!

taytay2020 · 08/03/2021 16:01

@hopingforbabym2021 I've been taking folic acid, have cut down to one proper tea a day (then decaf after that), and DH and I have both stopping drinking alcohol. That might be overkill but at least it's healthy!

Genevive123 · 08/03/2021 19:29

Ooh I didn't know you were meant to stop eating certain things to prepare ? I haven't drank for about 6 months so I'm not concerned in that aspect but are you meant to stop eating specific foods ??

OP posts:
taytay2020 · 08/03/2021 20:28

@genevive123 I don't know about ttc-specific foods but during the tww it miiight be good to avoid the same foods they say to avoid during pregnancy (because you might be pregnant!).

But it's easy to get carried away with all this. Soooooo many people don't make changes until they get the positive result, or have surprise pregnancies, and no harm done. So don't worry!

Farmer123 · 08/03/2021 20:37

Hello all!
Wanted to jump on for some support with TTC for the first time. Only on our first cycle and currently 11dpo and driving myself mad 😂
Never thought I’d be like this but I’m thinking about it and reading about it all the time 🙈
Did a test on say 9DPO which I know is mad but I convinced myself I was having early symptoms and saw people saying they had early positives. It was a BFN and I regretted it straight away!
Trying to hold out until AF is due on Friday now.
How is everyone finding it? Please tell me I’m not alone with my obsessive ways!

Catmumsoph92 · 08/03/2021 20:47

Hi Ladies! Hope you don't mind me joining! Would love to speak with others who are TTC for the first time. My fiancé and I are both 28 and this is our first month actively TTC!

Catmumsoph92 · 08/03/2021 20:52

@Farmer123 you are not alone! I thought we caught last month and was testing ever day from 7dpo as had seen some women get positives that early! It was really disheartening! Im currently 5dpo this month and going to try and hold out as long as I can! The TTW is sooo hard!

HopingForBabyM2021 · 08/03/2021 20:54

Hi @Farmer123 hey! All I can say is that from where I'm standing, you are not overly obsessing at all ,😂😂 I am exactly the same as you! There's still hope for this cycle, got my fingers and toes crossed for you!

@Catmumsoph92 welcome to the club! I'm also 28, hubby is 31 and this is our first month properly TTC! Well it will be when AF finally goes away! Do you know where abouts in your cycle you are?

To the lovely ladies who answered my qs above about changing diets etc thanks for your insight! Think I'll have the drinks when AF is around and abstain during the TWW. I heard that hot baths could be bad for implantation because of the temperature rise, but having looked into it, it seems like it shouldn't be too much of a problem! Definitely going to switch to decaf tea too!

Also can I just say to everyone - so many lovely people on this thread 💕 so nice to have so many people to talk to going through the same things!

Catmumsoph92 · 08/03/2021 21:01

@HopingForBabyM2021 Hi! Lovely to meet (speak) with you! So great to have others in the same boat isn't it! In relation to my cycle, it is very regular at 27 days but I tend to ovulate on day 12 or 13 (according to my app - Premom) I came off all contraception about 18 months ago but have been careful until recently when we decided now was the right time to try and make a human of our own! How about you?

Genevive123 · 08/03/2021 21:08

@taytay2020 oh that makes sense !! I didn't even think about changing what I'm eating in the TWW!

@Farmer123 hello!! You're totally not alone don't worry 😂 I convinced myself last cycle that 1dpo I was having implantation cramps! Lol, I'm dreading stressing about it again this month 😂 9dpo huh, in the two week wait! Definitely the worst time of the month 🙈

@Catmumsoph92 hello! Ooh it's so exciting having loads of people to talk to about this , it's definitely a crazy time to us all at the minute as well so nice to have people to talk through everything with !! Are you feeling any different in yourself! I suppose 5dpo is early!! Did you track ovulation?

Hi @catmumsoph93 and @farmer123. Excited to share out little journeys!

I think I need some mumsnet tips, does anyone know if there is an easier way to reply without having to remember people usernames? Confused

Genevive123 · 08/03/2021 21:19

@Neom87 I struggle with this too! i end up having to close down the message to see who I'm typing to and then pull it back up again drives me mad 😂

If I close it down I lose what I have typed, its so annoying! I wish you could just @ and start typing and they would all appear! Didnt know if I was doing something wrong! 🤔

Catmumsoph92 · 08/03/2021 21:29

@Genevive123 It really is! No, nothing new or obvious! It's so hard not to symptom spot isn't it? I felt so sick around this time last month so thought I had to be pregnant but nope! So I'm trying not to look out for things this time!

Timetobeamummy · 08/03/2021 21:49

@Catmumsoph92 @Farmer123 Welcome to the craziness.

Completely natural to be obsessive. Last month I was symptom spotting all TWW and then AF was 6 days late was like torture.

Are you both doing OPKs or taking the relaxed approach (if there is even such a thing)

Farmer123 · 08/03/2021 22:26

Thank you so, so much for all of your replies!
I feel better already knowing that I’m not alone!
@Catmumsoph92 it’s torture isn’t it! Longest 2 weeks of my life 😂
@HopingForBabyM2021 and @Genevive123 so glad to hear 😂 it’s such a weird time and I feel insane most of the time 🙈
@Timetobeamummy of course I’m using OPKs 😂 haha I have the clear blue digitals because I’d never be able to work it out alone! Found them really easy to use and because I have used the Flo app for around a year I only needed to use 3 to get the peak ovulation smiley! I was lucky I knew the date from the app and it was actually only out by one day.

Kty09 · 09/03/2021 08:59

I am so chill when AF is here and thinking how relaxed I’m gonna be for the cycle but nope soon as those days start going by I am constantly thinking about everything 😂 nice to share our journeys and fingers crossed for you both @Farmer123 @Catmumsoph92 keep us updated 🤞🏼
