goingfor3 · 16/11/2007 11:07

Jules I'm really happy for you. Massive congratulations. I'm also really pleased that your consultant is seeing you so soon, it makes such a huge differnce to your frame of mind to know you are being well cared for. My consultant has also been fab and I've been scaneed every week for the last three and will be scanned again in just under 2 weeks, once I reach 16 weeks I will have weekly scans and swabs. It has really helped me feel more positive.

ronshar · 16/11/2007 11:14

Right listen here young ladies.

A BFP is a BFP it doesnt matter what CD date it is on the earlier the better as it means you have a very high hormone level.

Now will you all please just relax a little bit and use positive thinking. You bodies will do the things they are designed to do.

We are all on this thread because our bodies have protected us from a pregnancy or pregnancies which could have caused us harm.

You are all very worried and I totally understand having been through it twice this year. A missed at 13 week scan and last month I was pregnant for 4 days!!! So I know excatly what you are going through. Getting really stressed will not help.

Channel your emotions towards the medical profession who will try to belittle your fears and generally not take you seriously. Take research with you when you see the doctors.
Insist upon blood tests they are cheaper than a scan and tell you more than a scan will until at least 6 weeks as there isnt much to see before then.
All hospitals have a pathology lab which you can attend for blood tests as long as you have a form from a doctor!! You do not need to wait for GP/nurse appointment!!!

Oh I wish I was that strong when I was bleeding. Never mind I shall be strong for all you pregnant ladies. Hopefully I shall join you in 2 weeks

mcchesers · 16/11/2007 11:14

Jules IME Ovulation can be all over the place after mc. When was the first day of your AF? and CBD's are VERY sensitive, so you could just be very early preg..but no they rarely come up wrong if at all.

C&E - EPU's do early scans when they have time and staff available, so if they are asking you to wait it would be so that you will be able to see something clear on the screen. Can you phone them yourself and say you've had some tummy pain(becaue you have) can you get in for a reassurance scan? They can confirm preg immediately. I know the waiting is hard but just imagine we're all in there waiting with yo u ;)

Ugh..I'm a weepy mess. Just got my maternity record for my booking in appointment. I made my DH throw away the last one because the sight of it made me cry. Kind of scary.

ronshar · 16/11/2007 11:16

G43 I am really pleased you are still hanging on tightly to your little bean. Your consultant sounds like a ray of light.

ronshar · 16/11/2007 11:17

Wow Mccheser! What cd/how pregnant are you now?

becklebigbump · 16/11/2007 11:18

JULES!!!!!!!!!!!! huge congrats to you! Early BFP can mean twins, or perhaps your LO implanted V quickly and therefore you have been producing hormones for longer? I really wish you good luck with this one, you deserve it.
Lisse, am keeping absolutely everything crossed for you and your little bean too. As someone else said, you and Jules have really been through the mill and deserve some happyness.
CandE, do come over to the PG after MC thread which Jules linked to. Your post sounds very much like mine were back in April and May and like many other ladies who come onto the thread. It is completely normal to be scared, particularly when you have few symptoms. The lovely girls on the thread helped me to stay sane in those hard early weeks.

ladylush · 16/11/2007 11:21

Lissie, how could a gp not have any pg tests. How crap! Anyway, glad you are feeling more positive. Great for you and Jules to be pg at the same time What else did the consultant say - well, she said they only find a cause in 10% of women with recurrent m/c. That was inspiring Also I still have a cyst but they are not worried about it as it hasn't grown. I have an unusual shaped uterus as it is arcuate - but it is not usually associated with early m/c and I'm not especially worried about later m/c as had no problems carrying ds and he was a big baby. Clotting bloods fine. Still waiting for chromosome ones. They think I am just unlucky and that no cause will be found. They are not going to run any more tests. They said I should go back for a scan when I am 6 weeks pregnant.

cande - sorry you are feeling so down. Understandable after having had previous m/c. There's lots of support on the pg after m/c thread. Are you going to have a reassurance scan?

ronshar · 16/11/2007 11:25

10% thats rubbish. So it really is just bad luck!!!

How can so many women get so unlucky?

Good news about the cyst not changing. So does that mean you are full steam ahead with the whole TTC?

OracleInaCoracle · 16/11/2007 11:26

of ladylush, ffs! can you change consultants? did they offer a laproscopy? HSG?

ronshar · 16/11/2007 11:29

Morning Lissie. How you doin?

ladylush · 16/11/2007 11:29

Hi Ronshar
Yes full steam ahead. Mind you, have been anyway. Dh and I have been very enthusiastic in the bd dept. so hoping for bfp this month. Every day since cd7

How are you? Agree with your post by the way. I think I will ask for bloods between 4 and 6 weeks next time. How many times a week should the bloods be done?

OracleInaCoracle · 16/11/2007 11:31

better now thanks. relieved that beanie seems to be holding on, only just over a week to go til im past the 6w mark!

ladylush · 16/11/2007 11:31

No Lissie - neither of those were offered. I have a friend in S.A who is married to an obs/gynae who used to work here (inc. the hospital I am being seen at). Going to email him and ask his advice.

OracleInaCoracle · 16/11/2007 11:33

good idea. id have thought a lap and dye would have been at least offered!

ladylush · 16/11/2007 11:35

You make it sound so appealing

OracleInaCoracle · 16/11/2007 11:36

oh, it is!

mcchesers · 16/11/2007 11:37

hey Ronshar.. am 6 weeks and a few days.
I'm nervous thinking about going for the 8 week scan because I've never seen a little heartbeat before.
I'm so happy to have so much company in these early days. The preg after m/c ladies are very supportive. We can all hold hands through these early days. Good luck to those testing this week!!!

EllieG · 16/11/2007 11:37

Just realised jules AND lissielou have good news! Loads and loads of congratulations and good luck to both of you ladies

ladylush · 16/11/2007 11:39

Jules, I've had a bfp at cd22. You can get one 10 days after ovulation or even 8 days if you have a short cycle/ovulate early. Nevertheless, would be great if it was twins

ronshar · 16/11/2007 11:50

Daily bloods would be best case, but at least every other day for at least a week is normally enough to monitor the first stages. They need to see the hormone levels rising quickly until 6 weeks because after that little beans are visible via ultra sound scan.
Every day!! Good grief if that doesnt work I will eat my own hat.

McChesers. The first time you hear the beating of your babies heart is the most magical and wonderous(?sp) moment of your life. I envy you that experience. Can I ask why you have to wait until 8 weeks? You can hear heartbeat from 6!

EllieG · 16/11/2007 11:51

Criky! There must be something in the water!
That's fab news too ladylush x

mcchesers · 16/11/2007 11:56

Ronshar - I did have a scan at 6 weeks, and the bean measured perfectly normal but was too tiny to see the heartbeat yet. So I was told to come back at 8 weeks. They said everything was fine and spot on so I am holding onto that because right now that is all I have. Doing the best I can to make it through the next two weeks.
