Anyone TTC #2?

mamaatthegym · 26/11/2020 22:29

Lots of threads about TTC baby #1 so looking for someone baby #2 support!

If so how old is your current DC and what made you realise it was the right time?

DD has just turned 1 and we are thinking about #2 very soon! DD took 14 months to conceive so I’m prepared for another long slog...although a bit panicky that it could happen sooner! Am also still shifting some baby weight that clung on nicely during both lockdowns Wink

Anyone else?

@Curiosity101 I spent all my first pregnancy trying to find decent maternity tights for work as it was just easier to wear dresses. At 7 months I bought some jojomamanbebe ones and although expensive (for a pair of tights) if I'd have just bought them in the first place I'd have probably saved about £100 on all the crappy ones I bought!

shelbyrae · 30/11/2020 19:32

Me :) ds is turning 3 in February. Not with his dad so making the decision to use a donor.

Curiosity101 · 30/11/2020 19:32

@bez91 I considered doing something similar. I have jojomamanbebe overbump jeans that I loved. Maybe that's what I need to do this time around. Get a few extra cheap tops and a couple of pairs of high quality tights and leggings. Added to my previous maternity collection (and if I stay a similar size), I reckon I should be sorted.

Curiosity101 · 30/11/2020 19:33

Welcome to the group @shelbyrae

mamaatthegym · 30/11/2020 22:09

@Curiosity101 umm are you reading my mind? I’ve just added a load of stuff to my bag on New Look 😆 Lots of cute Christmassy bits as well. Not that I’m going anywhere but is it really Christmas if you don’t dress up to sit in your living room all day?!

@babblingbrooks I lived in DP’s t shirts and joggers in my third trimester and didn’t really leave the house. I was basically on lockdown anyway 😂 I didn’t really even wear the maternity stuff I bought so don’t know why I’m browsing!

And yes that’s true about everyone else’s opinions, people do like to project! Also realised no point in worrying about their reactions when I have no idea how long it’ll take us.

@bez91 oh that’s so annoying, sorry to hear that. Like curiosity said..a lot of people just like to project!

Hi all I'm day 2 of tww and think I have symptoms ha!
My body / mind is playing tricks on me.

I've thought the same looking at the sales and seeing maternity clothing. I had a fantastic winter dress for when I was 7/8/9 months with dc1 and if I get a bfp within the first few tries I won't get to wear my dress which is actually gutting! Potentially no Christmas 'pud in the oven' tops either.

And op yes, once about 6 months ago I mentioned 'one day maybe another one...' and dm was so Angry no idea why. Mil won't be happy either. Oh well!

MrsXx4 · 30/11/2020 23:19

I am still 4 days away from my period but I caved and did a cheapie test before getting into bed so not fmu. Tbh I don’t know why I do it to myself as I’ve got faint positives before when I haven’t actually been pregnant! (I started a thread about this a few months ago) I don’t think I’ve been having chemicals I think it’s just dodgy test strips. But once again, I have a faint positive tonight but I’m not even going to get my hopes up this time. I just need to wait for a missed period! Gahhhhh!

Randomness12 · 01/12/2020 04:00

Hi all, can I join? Due to start TTC#2 this month! DD has just turned 4 so will hopefully tie in nicely with her starting school.

I am a couple of stone heavier than I was when TTC DD, but I was very lucky and fell pregnant first time (early mc) then second cycle with DD so really hoping for the same again although know that’s unlikely as I’m older, fatter and a lot more tired!

I’ve been taking pregnacare conception for a couple of months although not religiously - my work is manic and I’m a bit stressed about it all so trying to factor in exercise and eating well is really difficult, hoping that TTC and/or pregnancy will give me the nudge I need to focus on something else and look after myself a bit better.

Randomness12 · 01/12/2020 04:08

Also, I work for the NHS (not frontline) and will be offered the covid vaccine in the next week or so - I understand we are getting the Pfizer one. I started a thread about it but I can’t find it now. The general consensus was not to have it before TTC as the impact is not known and someone was offered to be part a trial (not sure if it was the same brand) and told they’d need to wait 18 weeks before TTC. What does everyone think?

Thinkingahead8 · 01/12/2020 05:54

Anyone else have a short Luteal Phase? Last cycle was around 9 days long for me. I did get a peak 4 days earlier this month and I’m desperately hoping it makes some difference.

3dpo now so I’m hoping not to see af in less than a week again!

miami2 · 01/12/2020 07:36

@Randomness12 hi!!! I also work for the NHS, not frontline. Not been offered it yet but if I do I think I'll decline. It's really hard to know ur making the right decision when everyone knows so little. But I'm trying to think of it like the flu jab (which I have had this year) but if they told me pregnancy was a contraindication then I wouldn't think twice or not having it. And I wouldn't be walking round ferried I might get flu. I may be wrong but that's just the way I think and it gives me some peace.

@MrsXx4 fingers crossed for u? Can u not get a frer? I have a stash of them ready to go. And a clear blue digital 😂😂

@Thinkingahead8 @timeforanother1 think we are all on the same 3dpo???? I'll need the support to hold out testing lol.

Welcome @shelbyrae how interesting, using a donor. Forgive me I know nothing and intrigued!!! Do u track ovulation? How many chances a cycle do u get??? Ohhhh tell me more!!!

mamaatthegym · 01/12/2020 08:12

@timeforanother1 I’ve decided I’m literally not going to speak of it again! Less pressure that way anyway. When I TTCd first time I had MCs so close friends and family knew and I felt like everyone was just waiting every month for an update which was even more stressful!

@Thinkingahead8 that’s great you peaked 4 days earlier - did you try anything different?

Welcome @Randomness12 gosh I haven’t even thought about the Covid vaccine and TTC Confused I’m not entirely sure what I would do to be honest.

Welcome @shelbyraeGrin

@mamaatthegym 😁😁😁 I've just looked at New look again this morning. I feel like it's cheaper today than it way yesterday? Argh! I'm trying not to order anything cause I've literally got no idea about sizing this far out. Plus it was a minefield getting the right sized maternity clothes last time.

Does anyone have any experience with New look maternity? I'm considering dropping down a size as I'm between sizes anyway.

Laura1609 · 01/12/2020 12:10

So, AF is due today but no sign as yet. I’ve been on a regular 28 day cycle since it returned in June. I bet my body is just tricking me today as I do feel a bit crampy and like it’s coming. When to test?!!

mamaatthegym · 01/12/2020 12:14

@Curiosity101 I got maternity (winter) clothes from New Look last year, although no bottoms only tops. I’ve kept the tops in my wardrobe for this winter because they were barely maternity! They were just stretchy tops that could totally be worn if you weren’t pregnant 😂 I think some stuff is better than others. Although one place I do result recommend a proper food maternity fit is Gap! They’re a bit more expensive but they have a 50% off sale at the moment and they do that a lot throughout the year too not just Black Friday. Enjoy Grin

@Laura1609 if AF is due today I would test Grin you’re kind of officially late then right? All looking promising if you’re usually on time 🤞🏼

@Curiosity101 really good (need to proof read before I hit send lol)

Laura1609 · 01/12/2020 12:17

@mamaatthegym Eeek! I might wait until tomorrow morning, mainly because I’ve got so much work to do today that I need to focus on it (she says typing away on MN 😂)

Curiosity101 · 01/12/2020 12:36

@mamaatthegym I've just had a quick look on my lunch break. I don't think my bank balance will thank you for that info. ~55% off... Don't mind if I do.

Curiosity101 · 01/12/2020 12:38

@mamaatthegym Just found another 5% off code. 🙈 I'm definitely buying a few things this evening

Curiosity101 · 01/12/2020 12:49

@Laura1609 I would definitely test today if you have ICs. If AF is due then you should be able to get a line at any time of day if you're pregnant. How many DPO are you?

shelbyrae · 01/12/2020 14:17

Thanks @Curiosity101 @mamaatthegym !

@miami2 haha no worries! Yes so the recipient tracks O, then the donor comes and deposits the "specimen" and recipient uses a kit to put it where it needs to be iyswim 😂 and yeah normally once or twice in the fertile window x

Curiosity101 · 01/12/2020 14:19

@shelbyrae So your donor is effectively on call 24/7? What if they have a full time job? Sorry if this is incredibly nosey, I've always been really curious about how the process works.

Thinkingahead8 · 01/12/2020 15:53

@mamaatthegym nothing different this month but I’m hoping the slight shift in CD works in my favour.

I’m also on a ticking clock as I need surgery but I need to ‘finish my family’ first. Not ideal timing as I started a new role at work last month but I guess something will always present challenges in timings anyway!

shelbyrae · 01/12/2020 16:12

@Curiosity101 Haha it's totally fine! So this is private donation so there's no set process, but in my experience I have regular cycles so once I get AF I know pretty much when it's going to happen, and we just meet before or after work (only takes 10min). But apparently with people who have irregular cycles sometimes they will have to travel to the donor or agree to meet a few times.

mamaatthegym · 01/12/2020 19:51

@Laura1609 did you manage to hold off today?
Keep us posted!
