Anyone TTC #2?

mamaatthegym · 26/11/2020 22:29

Lots of threads about TTC baby #1 so looking for someone baby #2 support!

If so how old is your current DC and what made you realise it was the right time?

DD has just turned 1 and we are thinking about #2 very soon! DD took 14 months to conceive so I’m prepared for another long slog...although a bit panicky that it could happen sooner! Am also still shifting some baby weight that clung on nicely during both lockdowns Wink

Anyone else?

My cycle’s normally 28 days but has occasionally been anything up to 35 days in the past so I’m not getting my hopes up. I have been feeling sick today though. But I sometimes do when I’m due.

Aries27 · 29/11/2020 07:14

Hi ladies, can I join this thread? We’re currently TTC for baby #2. Our first will be 4 in March so we’re keen to be pregnant soon as it will tie in perfectly with her going to school. I’m currently 10dpo and going to test in a day or so. Feeling very nervous!

Pudding01 · 29/11/2020 08:43

I'm out this month 😔 AF is in full force this morning! Oh well, Christmas positive maybe 👀

Aries27 · 29/11/2020 08:50

Sorry to hear that @Pudding01 - treat yourself to a nice glass of wine tonight and fingers crossed for a special Christmas positive ❤️

mamaatthegym · 29/11/2020 11:53

Sorry to hear @Pudding01 CakeWine

@AmyandPhilipfan fingers crossed for this cycle! Anything today?

@babblingbrooks welcome! Another one who took a year the first time, I’m glad there’s a few of us. Yes January would be a good start if nothing by then...you can be expected to cut out sugar now we’re on the home run for Christmas Grin

@Aries27 ooh fingers crossed! Let us know!

@timeforanother1 I wanted to take EPO anyway as I’ve been having a crappy time with AF (anxious, irrational thoughts when I’m due on) and apparently they’re good mood lifters due to the way they balance hormones. But I was also doing some research about CM and apparently it’s good for that as well! Lots of people reporting having EWCM when taking it as opposed to none usually.

I also wanted to say I’m happy for anyone to post their BFPs Grin I love seeing them!

In other news I THINK I’ve just finished my Christmas shopping! Now to wait for all the parcels to arrive and spend 3 days wrapping everything ConfusedGrin

@babblingbrooks *can’t

Thinkingahead8 · 29/11/2020 14:09

@mamaatthegym you’re so prepared! I’ve done no prep in the way of Xmas. I just never feel ‘xmassy’ Until the week before.

@miami2 have you got things to keep you busy during the TWW? I’m thankful my job is so manic at the mo so keep my mind occupied!

Curiosity101 · 29/11/2020 14:24

@mamaatthegym Could you do my Christmas shopping for me too! I'm procrastinating big time over here!

@babblingbrooks Oh my gosh, cutting out sugar so close to Christmas would be killer. And it could have been a complete coincidence, definitely sounds like a good plan to wait until January!

mamaatthegym · 29/11/2020 15:13

@Thinkingahead8 @Curiosity101 haha well I’ve got FIVE family members birthdays in December as well so I do have to be super organised!

Chatting with DP this morning on our walk and he’s agreed we can “relax” Wink as of next month! I’m half petrified and half excited! He also said he wants a third Hmm

Been feeling a bit sick again today. Mostly after eating. But not as bad as yesterday. I keep thinking when I go to the loo that this is it, there’ll be blood when I wipe, but so far there hasn’t been. I was going to wait and test on Tuesday as that seemed like too late to be just a couple of days late, but I cracked this afternoon and bought a test from the local garage. Only for it to be a duff one! No line at all, not even the control line! Think I might order some more reliable ones from Amazon!

mamaatthegym · 29/11/2020 18:50

@AmyandPhilipfan that’s so frustrating! Definitely order some amazon cheapies if you can wait. Or pop out tomorrow and grab another if you can. It’s not over until AF shows 🤞🏼

Also TTC #2 here, in our first month. AF is due on Tuesday so here’s hoping it doesn’t arrive and I can test. DS is 17 months.
We conceived very quickly first time round and I had a dream pregnancy and birth so I actually feel a bit daunted this time around as it seems I had it too straightforward last time...probably a silly way to think.
Fingers crossed for everyone else and hopefully there’ll be some festive BFPs x

miami2 · 29/11/2020 20:51

@Thinkingahead8 no but tbh I really don't think this is our month. Only managed to DTD once around by fertile window so it would be a bloody miracle!! Fingers crossed for the Virgin Mary vibes for a Christmas BFP. Lol.

@Laura1609 I was the same with DD. Now I feel like a crazy woman this time round obsessing over everything!!!

@AmyandPhilipfan omg fingers crossed for u!! Think I'd have taken 10 tests by now lol xx

AmyandPhilipfan · 30/11/2020 01:25

miami2 - after trying for about nine years to get pregnant I conceived during a month when I only had sex once. So my daughter has always felt a bit of a miracle to me! It definitely is possible to get pregnant with very little sex!

mamaatthegym · 30/11/2020 09:33

Anyone testing today? Fingers crossed for some festive BFPs!

OP posts:
AmyandPhilipfan · 30/11/2020 11:06

I’ve tested again. Negative with a Clearblue. As it says they’re 99% accurate I’m assuming that means I’m out this month. Still no period though and I was due last Wednesday.

babblingbrooks · 30/11/2020 12:01

Sorry to hear it was a negative @AmyandPhilipfan - why do our bodies sometimes to random things o torture us! Although I am terrible for not trusting a negative test - I still browse double buggies on eBay right up until my period comes Smile
I've another week before period is due.

mamaatthegym · 30/11/2020 13:49

@babblingbrooks I’m currently scouring the black Friday sales for maternity clothes. I haven’t even officially started TTC... Blush

Sorry about your bfn @AmyandPhilipfan I hope you get some answers soon.

Can I ask if any of you have had any...negative reactions from family members about #2? We haven’t told anyone we’re starting but whenever I throw the odd “another baby” line to DM or MIL I get the worst reaction Halloween Hmm like “oh god no you don’t want another one until she’s in nursery!” (That was DM) And “noooo no more babies.” That was from MIL Grin

DD is one - even if we struck lucky and conceived first time next month she’ll be 1 year and 10 months which isn’t exactly out of the ordinary?

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar?!

bez91 · 30/11/2020 14:03

@mamaatthegym you'll never please everyone will you 🤦🏼‍♀️ it's none of their business or their body.

I have the opposite. My overbearing MIL has been harping on about #2 for about a year (DD is 3) little does she know I've had repeated miscarriages and I just want to smack her in the face when she mentions it 🙈 instead I just don't answer, give a sarcastic smile and a "hmmmm"

Curiosity101 · 30/11/2020 14:15

@mamaatthegym I second @bez91s comments. You can't please anyone and they don't have to live your life so I'd try not to let their opinions carry too much weight.

I often think about when I met DH. We were 16 and we got married when we were 26. Imagine if we'd got engaged at 16, everyone would've been like "It'll never last, they're just kids". Then by the time we got engaged at 24/25 it was all "Oh finally, you guys have been together forever, we were starting to think you'd never get married". People like to project 🤷.

My experience with family has been more like @bez91s. Anyone who's brought it up has been hushed straight away by me telling them "Don't hold your breath, one's enough thanks". We knew full well we wanted a second but there's something icky to me about telling family we're going to try for another. Also then there's a weird expectation/pressure.

Curiosity101 · 30/11/2020 14:17

@mamaatthegym Forgot to say, you're not alone! I have. A pretty good maternity wardrobe packed away in the loft but I never ever found a good pair of leggings or tights. I really want some this time round. I intend to make the most of being pregnant and live in stretchy clothing 😄😄😄. You'll have to let me know if you spy anything good!

miami2 · 30/11/2020 14:21

@AmyandPhilipfan sorry to hear about the negative. Hopefully AF will show up soon and on to the next cycle with more luck!!!

@mamaatthegym I had mixed reactions tbh. We told parents and in-laws when we fell pregnant a couple of months ago and it wasn't like it was with our DD. LOL. I think the novelty had gone. But when I had to tell them a few days later that I had lost the pregnancy they were all so gutted for us. So I think u might find that they will be completely different once u announce or when the baby arrives.

babblingbrooks · 30/11/2020 14:29

I had some really comfy maternity dungarees which were brilliant and I shall be back in those as soon as I get a BFP! Although to be honest I have lived in sweatpants basically the whole of lockdown - one small perk of not being able to go anywhere!

Curiosity101 · 30/11/2020 15:11

@babblingbrooks Those dungarees sound wonderful.

Curiosity101 · 30/11/2020 19:01

@mamaatthegym I've just seen Newlook have a pretty great-looking sale on. Very very tempted to buy a few things. It's difficult to know how much weight I will/won't put on though :/
