Feeling very fed up with failing every month and wondered if there's anyone in the same boat? It's a lonely boat on a journey to nowhere at the moment, but if anyone else wants to join me, some company would be nice

Interesting pants converstaion I discovered!!!!!

Well Ready......in answer to your questions...

I feel surprisingluy and amazingly fine and normal!
I can't rememeber if I said but I found out that provate IVF is almost half the price I thouhg tit was so feel that that may be an option if we feel desperate or like time is running out in the future.
Our follow-up appointment is in a couple of weeks - not really sure of the point of this but I guess it gives some couples closure....we feel as if we moved on ages ago and that IVF was all a bit of a dream stage!
It's such a big deal at the time, but we seem to be moving on to different avenues now.

We went to an information meeting about adoption which was VERY positive and DH spoke to a socila worker a few days ago for a "long chat". He said that she sounded lovely...so all good so far! (Although I know that there are MILES to go yet of course. )

We're off on a mega holiday soon...we always said that we'd do it if IVF didn't work. We had our 10th wedding anniversary last summer and decided this is what we would do instead....somewhat a consulation prize for not being pg. It has worked quite as we have been busy getting organised with money, flights, jabs etc. etc. and I suppose that's one of the reasons why the treatment seems to have been a while ago now even though it's less than a month. Weird.

When we get back we're to ring the SW and arrange things!!!!
HURRAH!

I suppose, as well, that's why I feel positive. I really saw IVF failure as the end of ttc, but now we have the realative safety net of privately trying if we wish too and the adoption route to chose from.

I hate dead-ends and this is now merely a crossroads IYSWIM.

There.....you asked!!!

BTW...can't be faffed checking for typos!
Sorry!!

coggy · 15/03/2008 16:44

Okay...I hear you all crying...I really should have checked for typos!!!!

I've only dared re-read the first couple of sentences...it's bad, I know.

Sorry!!!!!

Ready · 15/03/2008 17:18

Coggy, I apologise in advance if this comes across as twee or sickly-sweet... but I think you are incredible. Truly. I don't know how you remain so balanced and calm - but you are an inspiration to me.

I know that I can cope with all of this ttc lark, because I am not the first, and I won't be the last - and I should feel ashamed when I mope or complain about my trials and tribulations.

I hope you have the most amazing holiday - goodness knows you deserve it. And I hope that everything runs smoothly for you with the SW upon your return.

Ok, I'll shut up now.

GryffinGirl · 15/03/2008 18:50

lulu - BFP!!!!! I am soooo pleased for you and your DH! Let me know your secret if you get a sec

Coggy - hello there, we haven't "met" before, but you sounds a very strong and inspirational person. What Ready says sounds absolutely right.

Londonlottie - absolutely agree about the pages not sticking together . My DH had better not have spilt a drop of his special swimmers stuff

viksam · 15/03/2008 19:02

Coggy thanks so much for ur message, it was just what i needed to here. Although i realise everyone is different, but its great to hear that u think it work for u. Where are you going on holiday? I hope its really amazing and all you want it to be. X

lulu1414 · 15/03/2008 19:22

Hi all- thanks for your congratulations. Feels very early and very scary.

I just had a horrid day of vomitting all day and a raging headache. Finally feel more normal. Not sure if it is morning (read all day) sickness or maybe a migraine... I'm wierdly pleased about it, though, as it feels reassuring.

Coggy- I also think you are amazing- you seem to be staying very balanced. I had a holiday in September and I swear it made a huge difference. I felt it really helped put things into perspective. I went diving for the first time and realised how fearful I had become. Conquering something new and seeing new things really helped. I hope you have a fab holiday.

Actually, I think you are all amazing as much of this is a head game of trying to stay positive and not be driven completely round the bend.

As for my secret. I have no idea. This was the first month I tried the following: pre seed, saliva microscope and OPKs. But then I don't know if they worked or nor as my cycles have been so irregular. But according to them I ovulated whilst I was still bleeding, so I may have BDed earlier than normal. I also wonder if pre seed helped. Could all be a coincidence... I have been having acupuncture for almost a year.

coggy · 15/03/2008 20:27

Thank you all!

Ready · 16/03/2008 17:45

Coggy, sorry for embarrassing you. But I stand by it. You and Rah have definitely made me feel so humble over the last year + - incredible, inspirational women! I love you both

PS. I have not been drinking

Speaking of Rah - Wheeeerrrre aaaarrre yoooooooooooooou?????

Ready · 16/03/2008 17:51

That site is really intersting Gilly. I was looking (flippently) to see if there were any hypno CDs for people like me (who really ought to get the message and give up hope) and there are ones that claim to remove blockages!!!

Maybe I have a mega-block.....got me hoping again (although I am VERY realistic but don't think I'll ever truly give up TTC even when I am 100!!!! )

We're off to Kenya...so nasty jabs and painful arms at the mo. Hope all the fighting has ended otherwise it'll be more than the giraffes and elephants we'll have to worry about!!!!

orchidgirl · 16/03/2008 21:36

Viksam - Just catching up on last weeks posts and noticed your consultants comments on Clomid and IUI. I did Clomid some years ago (PCOS and irregular cycles) and as I got to the end on my 9 cycles with no pregnancy, my consultant said that they should probably have started IUI whilst I was on Clomid. At that point it was too late as I had been on Clomid for the longest period permitted at that point. It is just a warning that if you want to give IUI a try I would ask for it in the next couple of months as its success rate is likely to be higher when you are on Clomid.

My recent blood tests showed that I am ovulating, but the consultant said that he would advise Clomid anyway as it pretty much guarantees ovulation where as nature does not. Until then I had assumed that it was only prescribed if ovulation wasn't happening.

coggy · 16/03/2008 23:37

I actually think that clomid is a cheaper (and often very effective) way of avoiding IUI and IVF, in that, women are put on it here regardless of whether they need it whilst on the witing list for further treatment......often the further treatment isn't needed IYSWIM.

Worked that way for us.

My experience of IUI waa different again (different places have such different ways of doing things).
I had my quota of clomid (six allowed here) and then went onto IUI but the IUI was using injectible drugs. There was no option of IUI and clomid combined.

I guess that's something you can ask......it's VERY useful to know what orchardgirl said so that you can check it out.

How totally frustrating for you orchardgirl.

kd73 · 17/03/2008 17:09

Coggy - very envious of trip to Kenya

The witch arrived today AND early! Feel like s**t!

Ready · 17/03/2008 17:12

Oh Kd, big hugs, sweets... sorry to hear your news Got a feeling I won't be far behind you. Tut.

Coggy, some friends have been to Kenya, amazing apparently - fingers crossed for things to calm down there, presume it's still safe for tourists?

Gilly, I am very tempted to get that cd... very tempted indeed

coggy · 17/03/2008 22:29

I hope it's safe!
Had a bit of an issue getting travel insurance as they all laughed whne we said where we were going....not much of a confidence boost that I can tell you!!!!
We have very good friends who are currently living out there so they know where to, and where not to, go.
Can't wait.

My AF arrived in full force today too Kd...although I really should expect nothing less.

coggy · 17/03/2008 22:30

Gilly what is the CD like.......not that I am hopeful......(if I type it enough I may convince myself, no??)

I cannot believe they laughed at you Coggy, bloody cheek!

Lottie, Rah is having a work-computer-sharing fiasco, which will hopefully be resolved by Wednesday. I hope she won't mind me saying, but she doesn't feel hopeful of a BFP

Woooo. This Thursday Gilly - excellent news... do let us know how it all goes.
You are so informative - I particularly liked the radio idea, for world service - I did chuckle, but it is still a good idea, I know who I would want nearby in a crisis!!!

Minnow1 · 18/03/2008 10:47

Wow so much to catch up on!!!

coggy I have read some of your threads here and although I don't know you well, I also wanted to say what an inspiration you are

Friends of ours went to Kenya on honeymoon in Oct and loved it - amazing photos. The foreign office website always has up to date travel advice, I thought safari areas etc are ok but more caution needed in major cities? It can't be that bad if you can still book a package to go there!

We are thinking of a big holiday this year, I quite fancy Thailand, anyone been? Where else is nice in June?

lulu Fab news, fingers crossed for you. I might have to get me some preseed.

ready Nice to see you back, was looking at another thread re 'what were you posting a year ago...' I can't believe it is 12 months since I first discovered MN and was getting worried about getting pg too quickly!! Stupid me!

Sorry to those who have the witch visiting. Think I am out for this month. DP did Bath Half marathon this weekend so has been out of action for crucial days - poor guy is knackered and aching all over!

Spoke to GP yesterday, she wanted more details before referring us to hospital so had to repeat everything I have been telling her for last 6 months - v. annoyed .
Anyway she is going to refer us, she said waiting list is 4 months .

Acupuncture is going great except acupuncturist is now pregnant! Oh well!

coggy · 18/03/2008 23:03

The travel Ins compay agreed with you Minnow but unfortunately we are going to THE major city which they said was the worst place and it isn't a package holiday either....we're just on the flight and then staying with friends so hopefully they'll organise safaris etc for us.

Oh well.....nothing like living slightly dangerously is there!

I hope you are wrong RAH.
X

Looking forward to your review Gilly. Good news about your appointment and yes, you should have gone for the van Gogh I reckon!!!

Ready · 19/03/2008 08:34

Live on the edge Coggy!!!

Minnow, I know, it is mental to think what we were all posting a year ago. Sad too.

Nomore, I miss you - come back on here sooooon!

Well, we were meant to be away over Easter, but we are staying with friends a few days earlier now... so better go and pack

Hope everyone is ok?

In case I don't get back on later today - Gilly, all the best tomorrow... looking forward to hearing all about it

viksam · 19/03/2008 16:12

orchidgirl Thanks for the info, i will defo ask the question although i have just had a conversation with the doc and she said that you cant go on any waiting lists for anything else i.e IUI/IVF untill you have been through everything else possible. She also said that she 'thinks' the age limit has gone up in this area to 39 which is good news as i am 33 and i was told that they kick you off at 36 no matter what!!
AF is here too feeling low, tired and bloated, i like my sofa a little too much lately and there's so much house work to do!!! Need to get up of my ass and do it!!!!!
Gilly Hope tomorrow goes well and you get some straight forward answers.
Hope everyone else is well.
