Feeling very fed up with failing every month and wondered if there's anyone in the same boat? It's a lonely boat on a journey to nowhere at the moment, but if anyone else wants to join me, some company would be nice

Viksam, I?m really sorry if I have caused you to worry. I really am.? essentially clomid serves to stimulate your ovaries, and make you ovulate ? so it really should only be prescribed to women who have ovulation problems. I am not a doctor however, so my comments should only serve for you to seek more information for yourself ? and not to change your plans. If you have elevated FSH then perhaps the clomid was prescribed to regulate this?? On this website, it says that clomid affects how all the hormones interrelate ? so that would explain why it was an option. here ? All I meant to do by mention it was make you aware that if you are ovulating normally, then clomid would not be the answer ? but you do have issues so I think that is ok.

Kd PMSL at your mum?s slips ? haha, I would call that a petticoat, but yes, can see where the comedy comes from I reckon dh would look cute in a petticoat ? but I don?t think I?ll suggest it, he might divorce me
at the testing fiasco? I will say no more about it?for now

Nomore, of course it is TMI when you have actually met him

Lottie, not sure what to say regarding the advice that will be given about the results. When we went, dh?s motility was not as good as it could be, so he was asking about that. The consultant looked at his results and basically told him not to worry. His overall volume balanced out the fact that some of the o~ were not go-getters. I would have liked him to tell us how dh could have boosted the chilled out o~, but since it was not me, I thought I better not. The point I am labouring to make is I wish I have been more brave, and asked? so make sure you ask if dh doesn?t.

Gilly Cold sweat? Sincere apologies ? I think men in general tend to be a little more laid back? although that said, my dh is obviously a freak of nature? he likes to know when I am ovulating. I think it might be the sportsman in him, you know, the competition, or the challenge That doesn?t mean we manage as much effort each month as we would like

Hope everyone is dandy!

Good morning everyone .

Ready - My DH liked to think he was a handy footballer (although nothing like your DH of course! ) until he burst his achilles tendon in a tackle, so i think i might appeal to his vanity and tell him that all manly footballers go commando and hang free except on match days .

gilly and londonlottie - I am in London too and it looks like we are about the same stage for our DH/DP's having samples done.

Lottie - the GP offered no advice to DH at all on how to improve quality - in fact he "couldn't interpret" the results, but the final line saying "severly low" on the test sheet said it all really . With some checking he has good motility considering but a very low count. One piece of advice I have had on here is to go with your DH to appointments and ask as much as possible.

My DH was referred to Hammersmith Hospital in White City for his second test and the GP has said if the second test is also very low (but if he can't interpret the results, how would he know? ), he'll refer us to a fertility specialist, but we've had no advice form them. I suppose we try the common sense advice/tips that you read about on here. Sending you lots of positive thoughts .

One thing that has given me lots of hope is that my boss has given birth to a little girl this week aged 44 - after years of fertility treatment and heartache. It couldn;t have happened to nicer people

Gilly - it sounds like your DH's view to TTC (very relaxed, doesn't want to know when I ovulate, would take advice from a professional but not the same advice from me) is the same as my DH's . I haven't talked to my DH as much as I want to. I am biding my time because he wants "facts" first. He feels pressurised and thinks that discussion is idle speculation until he knows more. There is plenty we could be doing, hence our "Battle of The Pants" tussle of wills. It's been hard biting my tongue instead of talking to him about what is on my mind most, but it will irritate him and arguing won't take us further. He has cut down drinking a lot and is taking vitamins, i think (noticed a new pack from Boots in the bathroom cupboard

We haven't had DH's second tests back yet and I don't want to be negative, but I can see further investigations ahead - does anyone know how long waiting lists are or or how long for a referal to UCH or similar?

hello to vikram nomoremagnolia and everyone else. Hope you are all looking forward to fun weekends

nomoremagnolia · 14/03/2008 12:55

Hello GG
Gilly LL GG Thankfully my DH is very good about the 'right' time of the month - he's even asked me before now if it was "a baby bonging week this week" Unforunately "baby bonging" isn't enough for us to make a baby. Really feel for those of you who are struggling (or who's DH/P is struggling) with this though
Ready you're right - how will I keep a straight face next time I see him? I did snigger at the thought of him playing football in a ladies slip - don't think that'd do much for his reputation!!
viksam I think my DH's results were similar to Ready's DH's - low % of properly formed o~ but large enough volume to make it not too much of an issue. They only did one test (about a year ago now) but the IVF clinic are repeating the sample. He had to go and do the sample in the clinic, so anyone who's DH/P is struggling to do it at home should be grateful that they're not expected to do it in the "wanky porn room"

nomore - LOL at "wanky porn room" . My DH had produce a sample in one, although he claimed he quite liked getting free porn on the NHS. hard core vids , mags and everything were provided, but I hope the pages weren't stuck together [([blush - sorry, hwhat a horrid image)

viksam - I saw you post further down the thread, which I didn't answer before - sorry. It's always hard when friends and family make assumptions about your lifestyle/fertility and I am tired of people insinuating that I should be "getting on with having a family". I'm so sorry about the rubbish consultant and the inconclusive L&D

I didn't want to ask either but I think Dh needed to make light of it by calling it the "wanky porn room"

Very true LL If you're at the "wanky porn room" stage of things then it really is a case of "every sperm is sacred"

Only skim read I'm afraid as I'm a bit behind!! But wanted to say Viksam that I ov'd okay according to blood tests and yet I was put on clomid and conceived my DS beacuse of it.

I think (discovered since then) that I have a hormone deficiency as my LP is only average 8 or 9 days. I am sure that the clomid sorted that which was just a side effect, but a jolly good one.

Hope it works for you too.
X

Hello all- sorry not to have posted for a bit. I'm a bit in shock as it was my birthday on Tuesday (you noticed, REady) and I sort of had a wierd feeling. Since we were going to go for a long boozy lunch I thought I may as well do the HPT that was in the bathroom. I did and BFP! told DH and he immediately went to the shops to get another. I did that one using very, very diluted pee and another very strong BFP immediately.

Its all a bit crazy, but we are really pleased if very nervous. I have had slight bleeding for over a week- very light and brown, so not sure. I am going to the doctor on Monday to get checked out.

I have been pretty nauseous over the past few days and this morning feel very sick.

Anyway, thanks for all your support. Maybe there is someting magic about this thread as I have been TTCsince Oct06 and only once I joined this did I get any joy. Fingers crossed that this one sticks....

Ready · 15/03/2008 10:26

Lulu, what a birthday present huh!!! Congratulations, and all the best. Take care of yourself, and fingers crossed for a sticky one!

Coggy big hugs I was being nosy further down the thread, so probably just as well you only skimmed ? I have a sickness

Gilly, what is your hypnotherapy cd called? I am interested in trying something like that

Nomore, I have forewarned dh that you will be picturing him in a petticoat He?s alright with it

GryffinGirl Ouch! Burst Achilles, I know people who have done that ? not nice! Poor dh. But yes, feel free to say what is required to get him hanging loose Lovely story about your boss at 44 ? after all that heartache, we will get there!!
Not sure of waiting times, it differs wildly from county to county. We were seen within 6 weeks of referral, then my hsg was within 6 weeks of that, then the follow up appointment was only 2 weeks later ? so not too bad, considering it is the nhs.

lulu1414 · 15/03/2008 10:32

thanks, Ready. If it is OK I'd like to stick around. I still can't quite beleive it and feel like you must all find me totally annoying!

Ready · 15/03/2008 10:35

Oh sorry lulu, I hope you didn't think I was saying "all the best" as in "off you go" - not at all. Feel free to stick around When anyone from this thread gets a BFP it is marvellous, no matter how soon you joined - because the essence of being here is that you have been trying for so long!!

Ready · 15/03/2008 13:04

Remember we were talking about India and surrogacy... today in The Times

kd73 · 15/03/2008 16:07

Lulu - congratulations hope you both well

coggy · 15/03/2008 16:25

LondonLottie - I didn't know that I had an incredibly short LP when I went on clomid so I didn't notice if it went up or not.

It was only after ttc for the second epic round that I used OPK and realised how short it was. then I twigged that the clomid must have helped.

Sorry...not a lot of use to you am I?!

Right.....off to read all of Ready's posts in the past few days so I can see how nosy you really are!!!!!

nomoremagnolia · 15/03/2008 16:27
