Feeling very fed up with failing every month and wondered if there's anyone in the same boat? It's a lonely boat on a journey to nowhere at the moment, but if anyone else wants to join me, some company would be nice

Dear fellow long termers.
I have been lurking but not posting as I have been ... err ... busy.

I have just added a thread (accidentally untitled - whoops - anyone know how to add one after posting!?)

Simply put, after many years of TTC and competing for the title of longest serving menber of the conception threads, I am stunned to say I am 6 weeks pregnant. We saw the heartbeat this week. Incredible.

It was IVF (ICSI in fact) - please take hope from this - and feel free to ask as many questions as you like
Love Choc

soosy · 16/11/2007 22:40

That's fantastic news Choc, we seem to have had a similar journey. I agree, although its really tough, you have got to do what you have to do. I hope you good news gives hope to others.

kd73 · 17/11/2007 07:53

Amazing news Chocolate - it appears there is hope!!!!

Was this your first IVF attempt?

Have you had a pg previously?

I was referred to fertility clinic who recommended Clomid as no pg in 2 yrs. Was due to start this in August but got BFP which was then lost. I have been told by GP that Clomid is now off the menu and if nothing happens before New Year I will be referred back to clinic.

Is your background similar?
Sorry I am asking alot of questions - don't feel you have to answer if too personal!

RahRah1 · 17/11/2007 15:15

Hi Chocolatedays

What incredible news. Many congratulations and wishing you a healthy pregnancy. So pleased you had a scan already.... so special!!!

Make sure you keep us updated on your little miracle. So pleased for you! XX

Ready · 17/11/2007 19:09

So gutted that I haven't got proper internet access. I am missing out on soooo much!! Choc sooo thrilled for you sugar Exciting, exciting, exciting!!! How do you feel? Stupid question? But has it sunk in yet??

How is everyone else doing??

Chocolatedays · 18/11/2007 15:30

Hi all

Us lot on this thread is very dear to me - been ttc #1 since forever sums it up perfectly.

Thanks Soosy, RahRah and Nomore (on the other thread)

KD73 - it was our second attempt of IVF and we got so few eggs we opted for ICSI at the last minute as the % fert rates are much higher. (my untitled thread gives a few more details)
I had been very briefly pg just after having a HSG - I had dark blood spotted from implantation 'til full af on day 28 - but I have a short cycle so did a test on day 25 which was +ve ... to many this is a chemical pregnancy, so not a real pg - for us it was the closest we had to a pg, so it was very real to us.
We tried clomid but I hyper stimmed on it and was told to stop after one month (are you having a scanned cycle?). As I said - feel free to ask qus - being able to do this on MN has been a great help to me.

Ready hun - lovely to hear from you - I searched for you the other day and saw you are having a tough time at the mo - thinking of you. If ttc is a factor then try to put it on the back burner for a bit and focus on rebuilding intimacy - I do not subscribe to the "forget about it and it will happen" school but rather think you have to accept it is taking a while ..... and some medical intervention may be needed - so the odd month or two will make little difference. You are a lot younger than me - time is on your side.

To all on or lurking on this thread - love, love and more love.

Ready · 18/11/2007 19:58

Choc - So thrilled for you, every time I see your name I just - This might sound funny, but whilst I am super chuffed for you, it also makes me feel good for me, because I know there is hope!! You are right, things in RL are taking their toll, and whilst we couldn't take our foot off the pedal and properly stop ttc for a bit, we are being as philosophical about it all as we can. I am not banking on being able to remain strong constantly, but for the time being, as you say, we are putting ourselves first and ttc is the by-product of that. If any of that makes sense
Please don't go too far, I want to hear all your news.

Ready · 18/11/2007 20:00

as much as we can! I realise that my stream of consciousness was riddled with errors - I hope you understood what I meant

kd73 · 18/11/2007 20:05

Thanks choc, its really encouraging to hear that other people have success despite adversity!

I was told by GP to return at Christmas if no BFP, however had such a crap year think I will wait until Jan as I want to be able to draw a line under 2007.

In the meantime, we are using OPK testing, has anyone used these with success? I pee on the stick everyday and when I have the ewcm I get a faint line, otherwise nothing. The instructions say when ovulating you should get a strong line and faint line at all other times. Very strange - has anyone got any words of wisdom?

jess1996 · 18/11/2007 20:08

Congratulations chocolatedays. That really is fantastic news

Hello ready - sorry you are having problems at the moment. I hope things sort themselves out soon.

kd73 - I know what you mean about envious. I've had 2 friends announce accidental pregnancies this year.

Hello to everyone else.

Well it's 11dpo for me and I have super sore (.)(.)s. I would have thought this was promising, but I got a bfn this morning on an internet cheapy. I know it's still early, but I think if there is enough HCG to give me symptoms then there would be enough to give a bfp. So it looks like this months another unsuccessful one.

I'm thinking of giving up for a bit. I'm so unhappy at the moment and this constant failure is killing me. Also my skin is terrible at the moment. I'm thinking of going back on the pill for a few months - maybe it will sort me out a bit.

jess1996 · 18/11/2007 20:12

kd73 - just crossed posts with you. Which OPKs are you using? I used clearblue and they worked really well - hardly any line and then a strong line on the expected day. They were too expensive though so I switched to a cheap ebay version. These give the same pattern but the line never gets as dark as the control line. I actually tested the same wee with clearblue and internet OPKs (does that make me a bit obsessed) and found when the clearblue gave a strong positive the cheap brand gave only a weak line. So I think as long as the line comes up and then goes away after OV then thats the LH surge.

kd73 · 20/11/2007 19:21

I am using access diagnostics tests uk ltd - has anyone used these with success? We were like the battery bunnies for the few days when we got the faint line

Now we are at CD30 and I suspect its another winning month for the tampax

orchidgirl · 20/11/2007 19:49

kd73 - I have used the AD tests for the past few months, and I think they work OK. I have found that the +ve reading gets close to the darkness of the control line. I normally get a pale line on the days either side of the +ve test.

However, I am not good at doing it at the "right" time of the day. I keep being told to do it early afternoon, but how practical is it to do it then if you spend your life in meetings? Usually I do evenings even though the hormone level is supposed to be weaker then.

Ready · 20/11/2007 20:26

Oh Jess I am sorry that you are so down, I know it doesn't help, but I have been there, utterly despondent with the constant failure, month after month. I am trying at the moment to focus less of failing and more on believing that it will happen at the right time, which unfortunately I have no control over. We mustn't consider it failing, as you can only fail at something that you have control of - we don't. Someone once told me that the journey for the sperm can be compared with swimming the atlantic ocean if it were filled with treacle!!!! So imagine that each time you feel like a failure!! It's not failing, it's just not quite making it.
I would say if you feel you need to take a break, fair enough, but I would urge you to think before going back on the pill, you might regret it afterwards. I suffer with my skin, but have found that it is so much better since I have been using LizEarle.

Ok... that is a load of waffle, and I hope that I haven't irritated you with any of what I have said Just want you to know that you are not alone, and to look after yourself... hoping you have got a bfp and all of the above is moot.

Kd - PMSL at battery bunnies

RAH Are you ok?

Hope everyone else is doing well?

Chocolatedays and Cityangel got their bfps - bfps - bfps

Ready · 20/11/2007 20:27

That should have been Chocolatedays, Cityangel and Kensgirl got their bfps - bfps - bfps

jess1996 · 21/11/2007 08:08

Fantastic news about cityangel and kensgirl.

I'm now 14dpo and my sore boobs have gone and I feel like AF is just around the corner.

Thanks for your kind words ready. I'm just panicking a bit at the moment. And I'm not the most patient of people. What is LizEarle by the way, I really need something for my skin. In the last couple of months I've been plagued with spots.

Hop everyone else is ok?

Ready · 21/11/2007 10:36

Jess ((hugs)) I am with you, it is CD28 today, and I woke up this morning feeling very pre-menstrual, I am pretty sure it will be CD1 tomorrow, another text book cycle, with nothing to show for it!! Hang in there, 14dpo is a good sign, it ain't over til cd1, so keep believing. That's what I am trying to do too
Well, I didn't get spots in adolescence (yeah, yeah, lucky me, I'd have preferred them then!) but I have suffered with them in the last few years, and tried everything. Then a friend recommended Liz Earle and I would not be without it, my skin, whilst still not perfect, is getting better and better. Have a look at the site, it will explain it all, save me boring you to tears. Good luck over the next few days chick, I will be thinking of you, and hopefully you will get your BFP and a little birdie will text me with the news

Hope everyone else is just topper??

nomoremagnolia · 21/11/2007 11:31

Good luck Jess fingers crossed for you

Big hugs Gilly, thanks for thinking of me. I have got lucky there is wifi at this hotel, and cheap too so you are all stuck with me

jess1996 · 22/11/2007 07:57

Hi ready, I didn't have spots as a teenager either. But I've been suffering on and off for the last few years. I took dianette for a year or so which gave me great skin, but it's not much use when ttc. I'm 15dpo today (and CD28) so I'm expecting af to show. I've no hope of pregnancy this month. My boobs are no longer sore (which I assume means falling progesterone) and I had a bfn at 13dpo. 15 day luteal phase seems to be becoming the norm for me. Still I can't really complain when others have problems with short LP. I know what you mean about a text book cycle. My cycle is 28 days, plenty of EWCM at OV, 14-15 day luteal phase. Yet somehow I'm struggling. It's been 9 months since my m/c and all I've managed is a suspected ectopic. I had a slight infection after the m/c and I'm so scared that its left me with blocked tubes. My plan is to go to the docs at the end of Feb (12 months since my m/c) and see if they'll do something to help me. At the moment I just can't imagine ever getting pregnant again.

Anyway enough waffle about me. How is everyone doing? Good luck to ready and anyone else expecting af soon.

Hi gilly We were referred very quickly - within a month, but it's all to do with targets. We were seen within a month but given 6 months of clomid as (I now believe) a fob off. We're going back in Jan 08 (they wrote today to change the appt from Feb to Jan) to see 'what to do next' but I expect then we'll be at the bottom of a waiting list for assisted conception.

Evening all

Got to be quick... but just popped on to say will be off line for a bit as moving house tomorrow. Hope everyone takes care of themselves and there is some more BFP.

Big congrats to Chocolatedays, Cityangel and Kensgirl..... Massive congrats!

Gilly - I'm getting on ok with the monitor thanks. I think by next month I will be getting more use to it. I suppose its hard to have faith in it, but hopefully it will pinpoint my vital days! I got two peaks this month and plenty of highs, so looks like everything was on track. Only issue was my temps, as I had no temp hike... but I had got out of bed before taking my temp... but normally that still gives me a high.

Take care everyone and will log on when I get some connection. Xx

kd73 · 22/11/2007 22:26

Good luck RahRah with the housemove, hope it all goes well

Choc - hope you and little heart beat are doing good

Jess and Ready - think I will be joining you tomorrow, feeling very down and have period pain twinges

Gilly - I went to GP approx 18m ago, referral got lost and eventually I was seen Dec last year. After blood tests unexplained infertility diagnosed very quickly and I had a laparoscopy in March this year. Got BFP in July although it appears I became pg in May - unfortunately m/c. Have now been told I have to wait to Christmas and if nothing happened I will be re-referred. Hope this gives you some hope
