@paintfairy @Juno231 A doctor won't prescribe them/can't prescribe them. They need to be prescribed by a gynaecologist and you need to be monitored on them with scans so that's not an option unfortunately. I think the scans are to do with risk of multiple eggs or something.

Juno231 · 02/09/2020 11:53

@MimiArm private gyno then! I say this as if it's that easy :)

MimiArm · 02/09/2020 12:00

@Juno231 Just tried first clinic and they said, sorry, dr wouldn't be happy to take us on as we are under care of another consultant. WTF. Essentially, we would be coming along for a prescription only and it would be different if we had came to them first. Yet, most clinics should be happy to accept test results from other clinics.

I'm not sure what part of "we want to leave existing clinic and come to yours" they didn't get.

I actually give up.

MimiArm · 02/09/2020 12:44

@Juno231 @paintfairy So I called another clinic who actually work with the clinic that I went to.

Got an appointment for 10 October (earliest they had). They said that I should bring my results and if their Dr agrees (likely given they work with existing clinic), I will walk away with an advice note to bring to GP/pharmacy to collect the tablets.

Cost of initial consultation: £110
Another scan: £130 (but given previous scan was so recent, he may use that result).

Now, given that we now know how it works, I think I should phone existing clinic back and ask them to again explain why there is a waiting list (except I'm terrible at complaining)!!

paintfairy · 02/09/2020 14:11

@MimiArm what a nightmare. Surely you should be able to take your business anywhere if you are paying. This is what annoys me- so many hoops to jump through to get anything. No matter what it is in life. You are always controlled by everyone else. Its infuriating. I do hope you can get the tablets.

MimiArm · 02/09/2020 17:21

@paintfairy Thanks. It really is infuriating. I've rang the original clinic back and asked the question again re the waiting time. Also told them that I've since rang another clinic who confirmed that an advice note for GP is all that is required at this stage, which apparently can be provided there and then.

I am quite sure though that it will take them days to return my call, and they will have a number of "reasons" as to why it's such a complicated procedure.

Meanwhile, had to endure a team video call with two colleagues whereby one of them announced that they know the sex of their unborn baby and how they can't decide on names yet. The other then ends it with "hopefully this will be you soon Mimi" even though they both know what happened today 🥺🥺

I'm so mad at the world right now.

paintfairy · 02/09/2020 18:36

@MimiArm oh ffs. People are so insensitive. Curl up with some chocolate and alcohol. You are allowed. And bugger the world right now xxx

MrsTwentyEight · 02/09/2020 19:22

@MimiArm I’m so sorry about all this. I can’t imagine the level frustration you must be feeling currently. How utterly incompetent on their part. Sometimes I feel the people who are in charge of these services don’t acknowledge the emotional turmoil each step of their delay causes the patient on the other end. I’m so so sorry. Don’t get me started on insensitive colleagues - they’re universal! Like @paintfairy said, chocolates and alcohol for you! You have a wedding coming up - happy thoughts. Try not to think about it all for a while (easier said than done I know)

MimiArm · 02/09/2020 19:32

@paintfairy @MrsTwentyEight Thanks so much. I would love some chocolate and alcohol but my wedding dress is too tight and I've a dress fitting on Saturday and I think the seamstress is going to shout at me (😂🙈🙈) - MORTIFIED!! xxx

paintfairy · 02/09/2020 19:48

@MimiArm then one night will make no difference. 🤣 Trying to stay one size though for a dress is a nightmare. Mine she actually didn't sew up until the last minute. Yet it was still too big around the middle and therefore all the weight on my shoulders. I ended up with my mum in my kitchen 2 days before trying to sort it for me! Never been so stressed in my life. She did sort it but the top still wasn't perfect and it really annoyed me because it cost £300 for the seamstress. Only thing that wasn't perfect wedding wise. And it kind of is important. 🙄

MimiArm · 02/09/2020 20:41

@paintfairy oh my! I can only imagine the panic 3 days before! I would never trust my mum with my dress haha! I can deffo appreciate the stress as I'm feeling it and I've still got a while!

I'm seriously stressing about my dress. It barely closes at the back and is too tight around the belly and bum. I've lost 10 pounds but it's still tight. I've got 9 weeks today until the big day so confident I can make the dress fit better. Going to ask seamstress to alter the back though (as in, re-design the back). It's got quite a low back and the zip goes up ok but buttons above zip are way too tight. I think it would be nicer if it was a bit more covered at the back anyways and would fit better (plus back fat can't be seen then). Ive attached a preview 👀

Feb Bus Pt 3
paintfairy · 02/09/2020 20:47

@MimiArm so did you buy it smaller? I lost weight after buying mine but only went to get it fitted after that. Mine was really open at the back- more than yours. And I'm much fatter than you looking at the size of that! 😂 It looks lovely though! I'm sure it'll be fine. They'll sort it.

MimiArm · 02/09/2020 21:44

@paintfairy In true fashion, my plans for the dress went tits up. So, because we only booked our wedding a few months ago (we had held off thinking I'd be pregnant), I bought a dress online with no returns policy. It arrived and was really awful. So I had to then find a store that had samples for sale and so bought this dress only a month ago.

At least I got 50% off but it still cost quite a bit (more so if you take into account the fact that it was a second dress!).

It's a UK16 but fits more like a 12/14 top, 14 bottom. I'm currently a 14 top, 16 petite bottom so it's snug. I've been watching way too much "say yes to the dress" as well and I fear I picked a style that's not going to flatter me at all now. But it was the first dress I tried at the store (tried another 7 after) and none of the others came close. Just need to drop another half stone at least so it's not so tight around the middle!

When did you get married? Was it fairly recently?

paintfairy · 02/09/2020 22:28

@MimiArm it looks smaller than that! 🤣 I actually bought mine from an off the peg shop. I didn't want to pay silly money. But they had loads. However I struggled with style because what I wanted isn't really in. I'm bigger on the bottom than top. I ended up with a ballgown type but it wasn't really big. Kind of between a-line and ballgown. I didn't go to lots of shops and I watched say yes to the dress too much. I convinced myself I rushed into it and had made a mistake. But the style was actually perfect for me. I was panicking though. I think it's normal to a degree?
We got married last October.

MimiArm · 03/09/2020 08:42

@paintfairy Ah, you're not far from your anniversary!

I didn't try a ballgown on but I wish I had have so I would know if it would have suited me. I'm short and I think the reason the one I bought suits me is because it's not overly layered and quite soft at the top. Other dresses that were stiff at the top drowned my frame so much and made me look massive.

Were you comfortable during the day? Indoor normally wear dresses so I just feel like I'm going to feel uncomfortable!

paintfairy · 03/09/2020 09:26

@MimiArm I have tried to find a photo of it but can't. So i was going to pm one of me but you can't send photos. 🙄

I tried a few on with different shapes tops and the one I bought really suited me. I know what kind of dresses I normally wear and it's never anything fitted. Not that I wear dresses a lot! I loved mine and it looks great on photos etc. But the practicality wasn't the best. 🤣 It wasn't even big compared to some. But just moving about, fitting through narrow spaces, it was heavy etc. I started out ok but it became hard work. The sit down meal I can't say I was that comfortable. But I wasn't hungry either (nerves/excitement) so that didn't help. Dancing later- i kept standing on it (even though it was now tied up). I had predicted this might annoy me and I actually took another dress to change into. Nothing wedding looking. Everyone said I shouldn't. But I then luckily managed to spill jaegar down my dress so it was a great excuse to change! 😂 Not sure what time that was - must have been 9.30pm or 10pm ish. So the last 2 hours I could freely dance and have a good time! I barely ate or drank much all day and I was like right, I'm going to switch off and enjoy the rest of it now! Its exhausting, it really is. But great!

Yes- I think we are going to book a few nights away or something for our anniversary. 😊

Juno231 · 03/09/2020 10:14

Ah I'm not gonna add to this wedding convo as the thought of our wedding and my wedding dress gives me anxiety lol.

11DPO and BFN on an IC today. I guess that's me getting ready for the next cycle then. Had my 21 day bloods back within 24h and they were good so nothing to do there. SA is up next then I guess.

OP posts:
MimiArm · 03/09/2020 18:47

@Juno231 Ah, sorry to hear of your BFN. Still very early for testing though so not necessarily out for this month?

That's good news your bloods came back good. Hopefully won't be a long wait for SA. 🙏🏻

@paintfairy Your dress sounds lovely! I can imagine after a load of hours it being restrictive and also totally get the sit down meal uncomfortableness as well! I imagine I will not eat much on the day as well. Such a good idea to have a second dress for later. Jaegar on your wedding dress lol! Love it 😊

I've had another day of tears today. Still no word from clinic - well, they uploaded test results and said they will speak to consultant "next time he is in clinic". Also, our pet friendly cottage holiday in a weeks time has been cancelled. Got email saying owner has cancelled all reservations.

paintfairy · 03/09/2020 18:56

@Juno231 🤣 I'm sure it'll be fine. I hate weddings and even I managed it. I actually enjoyed it. But i made sure everything was as i wanted and right for me. Didn't listen to everyone else. But yes definitely too nervous to eat much and I couldn't quite breathe sat down. 😂

Agree could be too early yet? But definitely sort that SA. At least then you'll rule that out either way.

@MimiArm its not a proper wedding without jaegar on your wedding dress. 😂 It was so stupid I even did what I did. But I was so tired, I just didn't think. Never mind! I enjoyed it.

Oh no. I'm sure you just need to be patient and hopefully you'll manage to talk to someone soon. Try not to panic yet.
Can you find another cottage? Loads here on air b&b? You can filter for pet friendly. I'm also on a fb group where they advertise pet friendly accommodation and people often ask for last minute places to go and things come up. So there might be something similar for over there? Search for dog friendly accommodation groups in the search.

paintfairy · 03/09/2020 20:01

Oh, I forgot to say! Pointless symptom spotting for me. Today I got hiccups and I hadn't eaten or anything. And thick clumps of CM. However, both these things have happened before so pretty much are meaningless. 🤣

MimiArm · 03/09/2020 20:20

@paintfairy haha! I had loads of EWCM today and it's CD27 but I ain't got any eggies - so deffo meaningless! 💃🏼

I've found another place on the coast of Cork that accepts 3 dogs - that was the biggest problem. Most pet friendly only accept 1 or 2 max - there were literally zero available in NI and 3 options left for ROI.

Juno231 · 04/09/2020 11:20

AF hit me early today - I knew as soon as I took my temp as it has plummeted. This means my cycle was only 25 days this time - compared to the 31 days I had last cycle...

Silver lining is that I'll be able to drink myself senseless whilst on holiday :)

The con is that I have a foof de-floof appointment today so that's less ideal lol!

Cycle 9 it is...

OP posts:
Juno231 · 04/09/2020 11:22

@paintfairy haha hiccups is something I haven't had on my FF chart as a symptom (yet)! Oh and I got married in 2017 so it's thinking back on the wedding that give me anxiety lol.

@mimiarm bugger I hope you find a new holiday let! I don't think airbnb specify number of pets btw if that's worth a shot? I've rented airbnb cottages in the UK before where we've taken our cat with us lol.

OP posts:
paintfairy · 04/09/2020 11:42

@Juno231 omg. Was it that bad? 😂 Best forget it then and move on. Whole new stresses to think about.

Yeah i did have hiccups on another cycle once before. Just likes to keep you guessing! My temp hasn't moved so I'm not hopeful anything is happening.....

Juno231 · 04/09/2020 11:48

@paintfairy ha let's just say it was a summer wedding on the wettest day of the year AND all roads were blocked off due to a massive bike event so transporting guests from ceremony to venue was a nightmare. Plus I was on really strong antibiotics from the start of sepsis the same week (mozzie bites!) and, and, and... such a stressful day, yuck.
