@paintfairy Good luck for your baseline scan tomorrow! How are you feeling today?

I had my baseline scan today (CD2 as bleed induced by Primulot N started yesterday). I will start Clomid again tonight. I'm exhausted and feel like crap! I've come down with a stinking cold yesterday and the 8 hour drive today to get to scan and back hasn't helped!! When I was being asked the COVID questions (have you had a high temperature or sore throat in the past 10 days) I was like, em no (as the sweat was running down my forehead) haha! I know it's just a cold though.

My scan showed 4 follicles on right ovary and 2/3 on left (could be more but it's tucked behind uterus so hard to find). There were 6 follicles on right on 2 weeks ago. Suppose all you need is one though.

@MimiArm thank you! To be honest we've just been away with the dog, and got back at tea time. So I've not really been thinking too much about it. Whole thing seems to be going on forever though as I've been injecting for 2.5 weeks now. I suppose I'm slightly worried that it's not working and we can't carry on, but I do feel pretty strange for this time of month so maybe it is working. Keep getting headaches too.

God, 8 hours. I just can't imagine that! Being ill is rubbish. DH has a cold actually and I'm stressing it'll impact on sperm. 🤣 I hope to god i don't get it. Annoyingly none of us have had anything since pre first lockdown, until now. I would be the same though- no I'm fine (whilst dosed up on flu tablets and trying not to look sweaty). I hope you feel better soon, nothing worse. I think the follicles often vary. Also some hide behind and so aren't always picked up. But it definitely does only take one. I hope it works this month for you. Fingers crossed 🤞🤞🤞

@paintfairy Thank you. DH had it last week and passed it to me. We are the exact same. First colds since pre the 1st lockdown! Typical haha. My mum says it's because we've all need hidden away washing our hands and now we can't cope with germs. Probably some truth in that!

I don't understand how this works. I had AMH 32 a year ago and now 15. When it was high, I didn't know I had PCOS but now I know I do but I've not got loads of follicles (by any stretch). The Metformin is working with weight loss though. I've lost 6 pounds in the past couple of weeks (and not been dieting). Suppose that's something!

@MimiArm I'm not sure anything makes any sense. I reckon things fluctuate to a degree, its just that they don't check it that often to realise? No one even bothered to check my amh so I'm clueless!
Yes I'll let you know how it goes! I think (scan is am) the dr reviews the scan in the afternoon and calls you to discuss. But you'd think you'd get an indication when they do it? Not sure.
DH and I are both still wfh. And I never wash my hands 🤣 I'm terrible. So it's definitely not that. But I reckon most things you pick up from work mainly? Its just awful timing as obviously this next few weeks matter a lot! I told him he needed to not get ill and he had this coming before we went away, so it wasn't that either. Bizarre.

@paintfairy That's so strange that you've not had AMH done - but then my consultant says it doesn't mean overly that much anyways. I suppose none of it does, does it?! The old "all you need is one good egg" and all that (except we know it's not that easy!!)

I'm still wfh too and DH is a tree surgeon so he's out in the open air everyday. Typical that we've both come down with this now of all times though 😩😩

@MimiArm I suppose not? I mean, no matter what the number is we will either have a crack at ivf right now or we don't bother? As long as there is something happening then it's not impossible?

DH literally kept me up all night coughing. 🤬 I really can't afford to get that as I'm not sure they can do egg collection between coughs! 🙄 But my scan this morning was ok. Everything as it should be. They discuss it at lunchtime in a meeting and then call you later to advise next steps. In my case I expect just telling me when to start the stims. She said maybe tonight or might be tomorrow night.

@paintfairy yay! I'm sure you're happy that's one hurdle over! Keep your distance from DH now as best as you can for next week so you don't catch whatever he has!!

My cold is worse today - I feel like death. I think I have the "super cold" I read about. Bleeding had also stopped (only lasted 3 days if even) so hope enough lining shed away! Probably not 🙄

@MimiArm probably a bit late now- he's been coughing all around the bloody house. 🙄 I slept in the spare room last night though so I at least got some sleep. I wonder if that's the supercold thing he has got. Sometimes you feel a bit crap but can function. But he is pretty wiped out with it and his cough is horrendous. It's a throat one more than a chesty one though, or I'd be worried. I'm still OK atm.
As for the injections- took me an age to work out what to bloody do with it. 🤣 its a bit scary being no one shows you what to do. The ovaleap scared me but I should be ok for a few days now as the cartridge is in and my menopur is mixed and lasts a few days too (that wasn't hard to work out though). So tonight should be much faster.

@MimiArm how are you now? I think i also have the supercold of death! I'm not happy. The drugs are bad enough. Yesterday I thought I was dying. All my joints ached, couldn't get warm. I've not got the cough DH had but I've had a sore throat and a cold. The drugs give you no energy but I could barely put one foot in front of the other yesterday and I think that was definitely the cold. I had my first scan today - so I went into the clinic in my facemask, barely able to bloody breathe. Trying to look not ill. 🤣 Honestly. 🤦‍♀️ They do a blood test too which measures your hormone levels. But she said from the scan perspective it looked OK.
They've called me since and it's all fine. I'm to carry on with the drugs and go Wednesday for my next scan.
I feel better now I'm on stims. The buserelin alone is brutal. But the menopur needles are blunt and hurt, so I'm not a fan of those!

@paintfairy Hey - oh nooo! It really is the super cold of death!! I'm still sick and it's went into my chest now. I have more energy and don't feel just as bad as I did, but I still feel pretty shit. I've finished my Clomid and am back for scan on Friday to see if I'm ready to use the Gonasi. I don't have much hope as my period lasted not even 2 days and so I can't see how my lining would have shed enough for me to go on develop a good triple layer (maybe I'm talking crap - who knows but if lining is full at beginning of cycle, how could it work out ok?).

Ok, so you're all systems go by the sounds of it. After scan on Wednesday, when is egg collection likely to be? Start of next week/this weekend? I hope you are able to rest up a bit before then to try and ditch the cold ASAP. I had to take 2 days off sick last week as I just couldn't function at all. Can you do the same?

@MimiArm I definitely have more energy today than yesterday. Even though I'm still ill. So I'm hoping it'll slowly get better, I just fear not fast enough!
I don't know- oddly some months I have heavier periods than others. And on one of those I definitely had a scan and they said lining was normal, which did surprise me becauseI had a really light period. I have no idea and I'm not sure they do. I've been told all sorts by the drs and it never tallies up with the tests! So all you can do is trust your body- it knows more than we do. I'm sure it'll be fine.

I'm not sure about egg collection. Some people seem to stim for 10 days and some a little longer. 10 would put egg collection at Monday ish. Which would work. But the transfer will be a 5 day one as far as I'm aware so after that you are running into the issue of it falling where the transfer would then be Sunday? Which clearly can't happen. So that's something for me to stress about. 🤣 But I would definitely say it'll be next week at some point.
I'm hazarding a guess that they'll scan me again this Friday (or Saturday maybe) as leaving me until Monday is too long. And by then I think I should have a pretty good indication of what's going to happen. In an ideal world they need to grow slowly but surely, to be mature enough.

I can see why you really need 3 rounds @Juno231 because you come to realise it's this bit that matters and that they need to get right. The transfers are irrelevant. You could have a million but if your egg quality/embryo quality is crappy, it's pointless. And it's trial and error with the drugs! 🤦‍♀️ So anyone managing it first time i think it's just luck they get the drugs right for that person.

@paintfairy for transfers I'm pretty sure they're open on Sundays normally! I've definitely seen others on here having it done then. Even on the fertility clinic thread we're on some ladies had day 3 updates on the Sunday! Glad you're feeling better btw.

@MimiArm I had the cold from hell as well at the beginning of the month and my god does it have an appropriate name. Got my first IVF appointment tomorrow morning so I'm excited to see how that goes. It's face to face even though I was told it's by phone and had I not called today to double check I wouldn't have known! Useless I tell you 😅

I am keeping an eye on the thread as we'll need a part four soon. I might set one up tomorrow? I'll include 2020 in the title this time I think 😭

@Juno231 I was also thinking this thread is about full! God, hours are we all still here! I was just reading about a woman's perfect ivf egg collection on fb though, and how well everything has gone and she's still got a bfn. She also had 3 failed iui's. What a horrible (and long) journey this is.

And my clinic definitely doesn't open Sundays. I think maybe there's people in the labs so you might get embryo updates. But nothing else.

@Juno231 Hey hey. Oh that's exciting that you have your IVF appointment tomorrow. Do you think you will be a January start?

@paintfairy . I guess I will know at my scan on Friday how my lining is. I'm concerned because I was on CD70 then only had the 2 day bleed. It doesn't seem right that enough could have shed away in 2 days given it was such a long cycle (and at the beginning of that cycle I was told it was super full) 🤷‍♀️

I'm intrigued to see when your egg collection will fall/be booked in for. I hope the Sunday closure doesn't mess things up!

@MimiArm hopefully your lining will be where you want it on the scan. It does seem illogical but you might be surprised. I assume the clinic is closed Sunday as that's what it seems to look like with their opening hours. Unless they do appointments if they HAVE to. I'm probably worrying for nothing. 🤣 Bet it's not even a Sunday....... 🤪

Today's update!
I felt in and out so fast I nearly missed it. 🤣 Scan went OK (she was more gentle than the one Monday!). She counted up and logged it on the computer so I asked if it was looking ok? (Not that I'm sure what ok is, but i need to know something?). She seemed cheery about it and said everything was progressing well. When I looked- it looked like I had 10 follicles between 10mm and 14mm, a few around 8mm and then some smaller. I'll try and take a picture next time. She said she would guess they would rescan Friday and possibly egg collection Monday (but don't hold her to it). They called this afternoon and confirmed that I'm to stay on the same medication and I'm booked in for a scan Friday.
So I reckon EC will be Monday or Tuesday. Eek.

@Juno231 How did your appointment go today?

@paintfairy I think your clinic most likely does open Sundays as these things can't be planned!

@MimiArm it went really well! I'm basically all set to start in Jan, I just need to call them on CD1 to get the ball rolling. Before then they want us in for more blood tests in Dec and for a trial embryo transfer for me in Nov. Just to make sure my path is unobstructed so to speak. I'm pretty excited to finally have something concrete planned that could help me get a baby.
