@Juno231 to fertility

paintfairy · 28/08/2020 14:47

I've just had a call from the surgery. I need to speak to a Dr which I can't do until 14th (looks like DHs Drs are far more efficient than mine!) and they'll speak to me about the steps to take for a referral to fertility and what I need to do myself? Whatever that means?! So I guess I need to see what they say. If they spout me some nonsense I'll be very annoyed. I also wasted time waiting for that nurse appointment which was utterly pointless. 🙄

Juno231 · 28/08/2020 15:21

@paintfairy haha I can't wait to hear what you need to be doing to yourself Grin. Your GP times sound super slow though, good thing you got that ball rolling. If they say there's a 3 month waiting period for a fertility clinic, would you consider going private like @MimiArm ?

I left a message with my GP yday to confirm if they have put a request in for day 21 on Tuesday lest I go in and have my blood taken for no reason. They called back to confirm, and quickly went through the US results telling me all was fine. When I queried what happens if the next test is fine too, they immediately set me up for a follow up call on the 7th (bearing in mind they needed to allow time for test results to come back) so I'm relatively pleased with that call yday.

5DPO and still bored with this waiting game! @MrsTwentyEight what's the latest

paintfairy · 28/08/2020 15:28

@Juno231 no way can we afford private. DH would had a fit if I suggested it i reckon. 🤣 But we shall see. Maybe they'll suggest all the things I have been doing, like I'm a clueless idiot. Try dtd every other day. Oh yeah, doh, why didn't I think of that? 🙄 I could try swapping to his drs i guess if mine really are useless. Other than do 21 blood though, I can't see what else they'll do. Its just a bit bizarre he's managed to talk to his, get a kit, and a hospital appointment all before I can even talk to anyone? 🙄 I'll have to see where I get with the call. The dr calling I've never seen so no idea what she's like. The past 2 I saw last year were really nice but they aren't there now.

Your dr sounds alright. I was sat in mine the other day listening to her keep telling everyone how busy they were. And there were no appointments. So god knows what is going on.
I think i maybe ovulated today. Hard to know but we dtd last night.

Juno231 · 28/08/2020 19:58

@paintfairy I'm keen to see your temps rise 🤞 and I'm hoping all this gp chat will just get you magically up the duff this cycle so you don't have to do any of this crap 😂

OP posts:
paintfairy · 28/08/2020 20:04

@Juno231 🤣 Do you know- i was thinking that. Please let it be like sods law!

I reckon I ovulated today. I never got a peak opk (often don't) but they seemed to be decreasing today. I also have actually felt crampy today on the left hand side. I have had it in the past where I've felt ovulation but haven't for a while. But today I'd have struggled to dtd even if I wanted to! Just feel rubbish.

Juno231 · 28/08/2020 22:08

I've had four ex colleagues announce their pregnancies to me this week. Feeling rather.. disappointed? Idk, down I guess about it. They all seem to have caught quickly so wont have a clue how this feels! Worst part is that OH doesn't get it either 😅

OP posts:
MrsTwentyEight · 29/08/2020 10:51

@Juno231 this month is a write off I think. Only DTD once so far and today is CD 18. Need to DTD the next few days or I’m out for sure. My long hours at work makes it so difficult during the week 😭
Agreed about work announcements .... @paintfairy
Also celebrity announcements! Everyone’s just falling pregnant at the drop of a hat....the pressure is too much

paintfairy · 30/08/2020 07:46

@Juno231 I saw a friend yesterday. Baby was born feb. I don't really see her but I'm fb friends with her so that's how I know. Never thought she'd have one tbh. Anyway, she confirmed what i thought. Complete accident! And she's only a year younger than me. 😫 I think men don't really get it at all. I think although most will have kids and like them when they come, I'm not sure they are desperate for them to turn up.

@MrsTwentyEight Finding time sounds difficult! I must admit I'm beginning to find it a chore and sometimes it's fallen wrong and I really don't have the energy. But we are mostly lucky. So i can't imagine really struggling with work etc. You can do it though! Just takes once apparently. 🤣

My temp is higher again today. Just wish I'd got a proper reading Friday. But it was higher yesterday and today so I think it's happened. We've been dtd every other day though up until last night. So should be covered whatever.

Juno231 · 30/08/2020 07:54

@paintfairy haha isn't it typical! Imagine conceiving my accident lol...

Was just reading this morning how over 70% of couples conceive in the first six months and if they don't they're a) classed as subfertile and b) 50% likely to end up in the infertile bucket at the 12 month mark. Cheerful reading that was!

It did also say the biggest problem tends to be the sperm ( 30%) and anovulation (25%). Makes you wonder why they only really seem to check the sperm after all the initial fertility tests for women? I think I'm convincing myself that the problem lies with OH lol - there's no way he escaped boarding school and army unscathed, there must have been damage to his family jewels 😂

OP posts:
paintfairy · 30/08/2020 08:13

@Juno231 dunno - my OH rang his dr and they were happy to check his and I've not been investigated for anything yet? (My investigations last year were not fertility based as such). I know 2 lots of people struggling though (well, one now has had success with ivf) and both its the male that's the issue. So it'll be interesting to see what ours comes back as. If it's him then all my freaky obsession it was me- has been pointless! I'm not sure what they can do either if it's the man? Aside from ivf.

MrsTwentyEight · 30/08/2020 11:01

@paintfairy there is medication to increase their “count” ...but I agree @Juno231 , it seems like that age-old Henry VIII style “well it must be the woman’s fault of course” that makes them check us first 🤔 Ha!

So now DTD yesterday too and I had a static smiley yesterday so I have no idea if I’ve already OV-ed as I didn’t do an OPK everyday. Didn’t feel any OV pains as far as I know....ahh who knows!

AF due September 14 I believe ....what about you both?

You know how I say I don’t care each month but each month I work out what date Id be due 😑 May 24th apparently ...not like I’m getting hopes up! (Clearly am)

Juno231 · 30/08/2020 12:03

@paintfairy not necessarily that they make us but SAs don't seem to be brought up for many until the first tests on the woman come up short. No one has mentioned anything about having my OH checked out for instance. They can try and increase the count and quality I think and sometimes it's due to blockages or testicular damage which you can fix with minor surgery so it's def not just straight to ivf luckily :)

@MrsTwentyEight haha I check my due date every month too - it's May 16th for this cycle 🙊. I'm 7dpo and due AF between 12-14dpo so got less than a week to go. Trying to be chill but I've yet to reach AF without having tested 🤷‍♀️.

OP posts:
paintfairy · 30/08/2020 16:21

12 sept I reckon my AF is due. And yeah I always sit there thinking if it's this month then the babys birthday would be xxx and deliberating whether its a non ideal star sign. 🤣

Can't see my OH going for surgery somehow! But if its not blocked or damaged and just rubbish, I'm not sure what they will do. I've already had him on vits and cutting down drink etc. Doesn't smoke. It'll be interesting to see so I'm omg forward to finding out at the end of the month! And luckily his SA is when my AF is due, so it won't interfere with ttc.

MrsTwentyEight · 30/08/2020 20:19

Oh ladies I just found out the ex is having a baby with his Mrs
I wish I didn't know this!! Not that it matters in the slightest but you know...doesn't help with the pressure thing -_-

paintfairy · 31/08/2020 07:45

@MrsTwentyEight obviously this is just want you want to hear. 🤣 Yeah i know it doesn't matter but it does kind of? Everyone else bloody manages it just like that, and here we are....... 🥱

Juno231 · 31/08/2020 08:30

@MrsTwentyEight aah i know exactly how you feel - my ex is having a baby with his mrs in Oct... I even got annoyed when my husband's ex had a baby in May last year lol. Got two friends I've fallen out with over the years that both have babies now too and that bugs me as well - almost like I'm viewing it as a competition a little bit lol.

OP posts:
MrsTwentyEight · 31/08/2020 13:49

I know right ladies! Absolute joke really 😂
Not even sure if I’ve ovulated yet this cycle...it’s such a weird one - DTD14 ,18 and 20 ...I hope that was enough 😭
Hope you’re both enjoying your bank holiday weekend!

MrsTwentyEight · 02/09/2020 07:54

I am going to pretend I’m 1DPO today 🙃 Given ip trying to figure out what has gone on this month
Two week wait again woohoo...not
😑
No testing until sept 14th pact for me though!

paintfairy · 02/09/2020 08:42

@MrsTwentyEight Do you temp? That's the only way I know. My opks are never very strong. My apps can't decide if I ovulated day 12 or 13 (didn't get a temp reading on 12) but i reckon it was 12. Which makes me 5dpo today.

MimiArm · 02/09/2020 09:59

Morning ladies @paintfairy @Juno231 @MrsTwentyEight

How are we all doing today? You all seem to be in the TWW at the minute. You know how they say women's cycles all sync up! :-)

I'm f'ing fuming this morning (and trying not to cry but can't because I have a video call with work soon) ...

So, last week you will remember that the consultant said we could have the Letrozole during the three month wait for IVF. Got a message later on Thursday evening from the clinic to say that the "board" had agreed our treatment plan and agreed that ovulation induction was a feasible course of action in the meantime. As such, "we placed you both on the waiting list for both this, and IVF". So I was like WTF ... waiting list??? For a prescription???

Rang them on Friday morning and was promised a call back. Rang them Monday, closed. Rang yesterday, promised a call back. They finally called me back this morning to say that, unfortunately, there is a waiting list for all types of treatment and sorry if the consultant didn't make that clear!! I said that the consultant didn't make that clear as he talked about this coming cycle (which should start any day now) and how I will need scanned in about two weeks to check the size of the follicles!

I queried how there could be a waiting list for a prescription and she said "oh, it's the scans that need to be undertaken". So I said "well it's funny that when you phone up as a new patient you can arrange a scan for the following week no problem" and she fumbled over her words and said "oh, it's also consenting issues".

I then asked why the lab results from the tests weren't on the online portal and she said that they aren't routinely uploaded there. I then queried why there is even a "lab results" section then. She just apologised again and said that she was sorry the consultant hadn't made that clear. So I have to log in and specifically request the results to be uploaded.

So it seems that all of the reviews I read were correct about this clinic - I'm so gutted.

So I will be requesting the lab results and taking them to another clinic now - Currently waiting on a call back to arrange an appointment for a consultation. If the new clinic doesn't accept the test results I will really cry as what was the point in spending £550 to be put on a waiting list, no doubt to be pushed into IVF which may not even be necessary? Should have taken on board the reviews .... :-(

paintfairy · 02/09/2020 10:14

@MimiArm omg. I'm so sorry. What a nightmare. And a farce. Surely for drugs there should be no wait. Not only that, you are paying? I don't see why you couldn't take your results elsewhere. I think the NHS even accept private test results. I'm sure even they give out medication more easily than that? How ridiculous! How long is the ivf wait if there's a several month wait for the drugs? I guess all you can do is explain the situation to the new clinic before booking anything and asking if they'll accept the results from before. And also check what their wait times are too if you need treatment. You don't want to get so far through and realise that's the same.

MimiArm · 02/09/2020 10:19

@paintfairy I really think it's a farce. They said the wait time for IVF was three months and then today said the wait time for the tablets will be "some time yet". So I really believe they are making us wait long enough for the tablets that we would end up being top of the list for IVF before the tablets, which gets them more money. This is exactly the scenario I read from the bad reviews. When we had our consultation, the consultant only talked about IVF. It was me that brought up the day21 results and scan results and he said "well, we could certainly try Letrozole". Had I not mentioned it, I'm sure he wouldn't have.

Still waiting on call back to set up a consultation but I'll make sure to ask if they will accept the test results and how long wait times are.

I honestly can't believe this - talk about hopes dashed!

Juno231 · 02/09/2020 10:56

@MimiArm jesus! Is it worth booking a private gp appointment and tell them the situation and ask for a Letrozole prescription for that day?

OP posts:
paintfairy · 02/09/2020 10:58

@MimiArm yeah I reckon you might be able to get a Dr to provide tablets at least. As @Juno231 says. Seems bonkers. I can understand you are gutted. Just when you thought you were getting somewhere.
