Hey

This is my 9th month TTC my first baby and I'm 33. I got static smiley on Friday on OPK, and now I'm in my TWW - again! I'm currently on furlough so the wait seems even longer and more painful and I definitely end up going a bit crazy 🤪

Anyone else in similar boat and need keeping sane?! Also any TTC tips you've heard of? I will literally try anything at the moment haha.

@LMA27 what OPKs do you use? I think I'm going to need to buy some to reassure myself I do ovulate!
Going to need to do it every day and the ones I've seen are pretty expensive!

@Flittingabout that's amazing news....you must be so excited!

Mia1985x · 02/07/2020 09:52

@LMA27 yeah I get really anxious about not getting a static either. I think theres only been 1 month I've not had it at all (well stopped testing after about my 10th flashing in a row). Then some months I've had no flashing but went straight from empty circle to static smiley. I think the fact you are getting flashing just now is positive and hopefully you get static today or tomorrow but I do think sometimes we can just miss that exact window for the static.

I had ran out of CB but had loads of cheapies so still testing with them. Another positive this morning on them, now 4 days after my expected ovulation! I have never had this and really dont know what to think?!?

@butterfly5291 I totally understand your GP giving that advice too but like you I decided I'd much rather know I was ovulating and DTD at the right time. I think the key is not to become obsessed with them. If you manage that let me know how as I certainly haven't 🤣🙈 In terms of recommendation for the best ones. I would maybe start with buying a big pack of cheapies seeing as you have no idea when ovulation is. After a couple of months of them if you have a better idea you could switch to one of more expensive ones that give you more fertile days (like clear blue advanced digital which is the ones you see us all chatting about flashing and static smiles). You can get a box of 50 femometer ones for around £10 on Amazon or even supermarkets and boots tend to do own brand cheaper versions. Keep us updated on how you get on with them.

@Faith82 what an inconsiderate and terrible thing for your GP to say to you. Glad you switched after that, I would have done the same.

@Flittingabout oh my goodness! How exciting. Massive CONGRATS. I honestly don't know how you managed to wait for more tests to arrive, you have way more patience than me. How are you feeling now? Have you spoken to your friend again who was the expert? Great to hear of a BFP on this group 🥳

butterfly5291 · 02/07/2020 10:17

@mia1985x I am already obsessed and not even got my coil out yet!!! I am going to hang off buying any until it's out. Going to be so disappointed if Dr can't get it out tomorrow!

Flittingabout · 02/07/2020 11:36

Can't seem to post a pic atm but I keep staring at it and in real life it was definitely pink!

CAG14 · 02/07/2020 15:32

Sorry everyone I was absent yesterday as had lots of stressful work stuff going on

@Flittingabout omg I just knew it when you posted that last picture. It was too coloured to be an evap. Massive congrats I'm so happy for you.

@LMA27 I have had some cycles where i have had lots of flashing smiles in a row. The sarcastic face that just keeps on flashing. One thing I will say is that I have managed to catch my static by testing twice a day. If you are DTD regularly I wouldn't worry as you will cover yourself and it might just be later on this cycle.

Thanks everyone. It is quite possible that I am going to be I denial for a while. I think 9 or 10 cycles of the last 2 years ttc I have done absolutely different to this time so am a bit shocked it has finally happened!

TTC baby no1. Looking for fellow crazy TTC friends!
Flittingabout · 02/07/2020 15:39

Absolutely nothing I meant. It's just only more recently has DP stopped working away which had screwed up our chances regularly

msunflower · 02/07/2020 16:16

@Flittingabout Congrats!!! How many DPO are you? Did you wait for AF to arrive or testing early?

Flittingabout · 02/07/2020 17:06

@msunflower

Many thanks. I believe I am now 17 dpo as I thought I was 14 dpo Monday and due Sunday/Monday. I waited for AF to arrive have never been an early tester personally. For various reasons I haven't been able to get hold of a test until today otherwise I would have done another on Monday after the invalid one!

I just had a quick call with my pharmacist friend and she said that although the first was invalid it never meant that I wasn't pregnant just that I couldn't go off that test to confirm it. She reckons this is a definite positive though! I asked her about re-testing regularly as am at risk of ectopic and she said I could test for levels every week but apparently it is more complicated than just watching that they go up.

It is so surreal. I started ttc at 33 and was told I had plenty of time. Almost 36 and finally have my first positive. Taking nothing for granted and will count myself so bloody lucky if it sticks.

LMA27 · 02/07/2020 17:58

@butterfly5291 I use the clear blue digital ones. They are expensive. I don’t think I could do these every morning I might have to invest in the cheaper ones.

@Mia1985x I only have 2 tests left so I’ll do one tomorrow Morning and see but I could just be ovulating later than the app is telling me?

@CAG14 haha they are quite sarcastic aren’t they, flashing in your face. We haven’t DTD as much this cycle as OH has been so busy working till late so I might have write this month off maybe x

msunflower · 02/07/2020 18:11

@Flittingabout wow what a journey you have had, I am so pleased for you! Everything crossed that your little bean sticks! Have you had any pregnancy symptoms or were they similar to PMS symptoms?

Stabal · 02/07/2020 18:19

@Flittingabout this honestly brought a tear to my eye, I'm so happy for you! Congratulations! 🥰

@LMA27 I think it's super easy to miss the peak on tests so as long as you're DTD every other day you'll be covered 🤞

@CAG14 hope you're okay and everything with work can be sorted 💕

@Jadeb1995 how are you keeping?

Faith82 · 02/07/2020 18:27

Congratulations @Flittingabout this is amazing news for you!

Yeah I’d be really keen to know from you, and others who perhaps have been pregnant before, when you start to experience your first symptoms? So many medical websites say it’s impossible to feel anything until after your period was due but I know many women say they just knew even a day or so after ovulation that they had conceived. I’d love to know roughly when I should expect to feel anything, if at all! I suffer mood swings, headaches, cramps and nausea with PMT though so can imagine symptoms would be so similar x

Jadeb1995 · 02/07/2020 21:16

Congrats @Flittingabout
Thanks for asking @Stabal, I'm not so great. Don't ask me why but we did another test on Tuesday morning and it was a BFN, not sure whether I didn't wee enough due to my UTI. I'm on antibiotics from the doctor but I'm an absolute mess 😂 I've brought some more tests and going to test tomorrow morning. I've had some twinges in my lower abdomen which seems promising but one minute I'm convinced I'm pregnant and then I don't. My emotions are everywhere if I'm honest xx

Stabal · 02/07/2020 21:46

@Jadeb1995 oh that is very strange.. I can understand why you're all over the place. I'm keeping everything crossed for you. Please let us know how the test goes tomorrow 💕

Jadeb1995 · 02/07/2020 21:51

Thank you @Stabal not really sure what's going on!
How are you keeping?

Flittingabout · 02/07/2020 21:55

Unhelpfully I have had all my usual PMT symptoms!

Reflecting as I answer your questions, the only thing different was I had more nausea in that it was coming and going when I think back to the weekend. I have also had a type of pain I have never had before which started yesterday in my lower abdo and is almost constant atm. There is a definite spaced out vibe to me too. However, that could be I am just in shock at the moment and feeling emotionally quite fragile (I can't blame hormones already, just the feelings of is this real?!?!)

Those of you in that horrible limbo I feel you! It gets to a point when you're just like bloody come on then will you if you're coming!!!

The sarcastic smiley face comments made me chuckle!

Stabal · 02/07/2020 22:22

@Jadeb1995 I'm okay.. Just getting over the hideous hormone surge and ready for another round in a few weeks 😂 this whole thing is so up and down.

@Flittingabout I think I've said before here my symptoms were exactly as a normal cycle would have been so I thought AF was coming literally any second. When I discovered I was pregnant at 6 weeks I noticed the food aversions within a couple of days of finding out and the cramps that I'd be feeling started to feel more like pulling. I guess my brain made them make sense when I finally knew? The mind is a powerful thing!

Jadeb1995 · 02/07/2020 22:33

Such a rollercoaster isn't it @Stabal.
That's interesting what you've said about the pulling, I have an achy pull feeling which feels like it's coming from my ovaries! Where was yours?

Stabal · 02/07/2020 22:52

@Jadeb1995 yeah it was like on each side low down like a pulled muscles. I also had a higher up stitch like pain on my right side that I thought was appencitis lol

Jadeb1995 · 03/07/2020 06:24

Just had a bfn this morning :(

Jadeb1995 · 03/07/2020 06:31

I had 3 bfp's on Sunday and Monday, 2 of them on CB digital.
Does anyone have idea what could be happening? It's been 6 weeks since by period if the other bleeding was implantation as there was no pain

Stabal · 03/07/2020 07:24

@Jadeb1995 contact your GP. I think you should be seen by EPU to check your HCG levels. I'm sorry this is happening 💕

LMA27 · 03/07/2020 07:44

@Jadeb1995 aw I don’t understand what’s happening for you, like @Stabal said contact your GP that’s the only way to know for sure? 💕 we’re all here for you whatever the outcome xx

I finally got my static smiley this morning, if anything I just wanted it to prove that I could get one, I know that sounds so silly. it’s the day after it says on my FLO app so I’ll be keeping that in mind now for future months. Typical though OH left for work super early today.

Stabal · 03/07/2020 07:49

@LMA27 yay I'm so glad you got it! What time will he be home? Have you DTD yesterday or the day before yesterday? 🤞🤞🤞
