Hey

This is my 9th month TTC my first baby and I'm 33. I got static smiley on Friday on OPK, and now I'm in my TWW - again! I'm currently on furlough so the wait seems even longer and more painful and I definitely end up going a bit crazy 🤪

Anyone else in similar boat and need keeping sane?! Also any TTC tips you've heard of? I will literally try anything at the moment haha.

@CAG14 oh I am 100% with you on that one! I'm trying to get better at this myself. I not only find myself stopping making certain plans but I also often find it another source of reminder/disappointment. When I reach a certain date or event I often think months ago I planned for this with the thought that would be pregnant by then 😔

Has anyone got experience or heard anything about the Ferti•Lily Conception Cup?

CAG14 · 29/06/2020 21:57

@mia1985x yes I bought it last month and have used it once after sex. I bought it as my friend who had been TTC for over a year used it and got pregnant first month of trying. It is fairly easy to use. I'm going to use it with conceive plus this month.

Hello!

Thought I would come here to share my TTC story so far... I haven't told any friends or family members as I don't want them to know i'm TTC until it actually happens. I'm currently 29 years old.
I've been TTC since the end of February... I stopped taking birth control pill at the end o February and my first real period arrived 36 days later. the second cycle was 33 days, 3rd cycle was 31 days.. currently on cycle number 4 of TTC, I'm probably at 4 dpo...This was my first cycle using ovulation strips and I got a positive ovulation stip so I know i'm ovulating and I usually notice the egg white mucus during ovulation.
What was strange this cycle is that I've notice a heavy increase of cervical mucus about 3-4 days after ovulations.. it's creamy and whitish/pale yellow.. but I was really surprised because I've never had this much discharge after ovulation. My nipples are also extra sensitive but I want to avoid thinking it could be early pregnancy symptoms as it's too early to tell... Usually implantation happens 6-12 dpo so it's still too early to think anything of it.
I've been taking pre natal vitamins for about 2 months as well. I also did a pre natal consultation, exams and ultra sound and everything seems to be fine. Hoping this will be the month! I bought the cheap pregnancy strips.. it's so tempting to just test every morning but i'm trying to wait until i'm at least 12 dpo. fingers crossed! It feels good to share with women that are on the same journey :)

Flittingabout · 29/06/2020 23:18

Thanks all. She was adamant. I don't have another one but ordered some more. She also told me it would still be pink hours later because I flooded it and she's right, it looks exactly how it did first thing.

I do think it is easy to look back and judge ourselves but hindsight is a wonderful thing. We need to accept we are where we are, and try to make the best of/stay positive and forgive ourselves for (list is have seen on MN,) what we think we did wrong or delays for other life events or messing about with the wrong men "wasting our fertility" or putting other things first or all manner of bad luck that has led us to those of you like me coming up towards 40 and thinking fuuuuu*ck I want to be a mama! What is clear is we are all putting our all into it!

CAG14 · 29/06/2020 23:52

@leapf welcome! Fingers crossed this is your month. Sounds like you are doing all the right things.

@flittingabout ah okay I didn't know that. Your friend will know more than me about tests, but it did just look really clear! I didnt think you could get Evaps that look like that. Are you going to test again tomorrow?

Hey everyone!
Hope you don't mind me joining in this TTC club!
I was happy to find this thread and spent last couple hours going through all the messages.

Firstly, congratulations to all who got their BFP!

I turned 30 this May and my husband is 31. We have been trying for nearly 1.5 years now. It was on and off last year due to a lot of things going on. We finally started to try religiously from December last year.
Previously I had got HSG and blood tests done early last year before we started to try. They all came back normal but since we weren't successful until end of December, in Jan I was started on clomid. This was followed by 3 iui s with clomid but no success. I made some dietary changes and reduced around 10 pounds this year and started to do some exercise daily, hoping this would help :)
I'm currently 7dpo counting from the day I got positive opk. I have been very tired yesterday and today and have some back pain. Hoping this would be the month for all of us :)

Mia1985x · 30/06/2020 00:57

@CAG14 oooh that's great to know you have tried this and I was actually worried if I would find it hard or sore to use so that's really good to know. I'm going to order one this month now, thanks!

Hi @leapf that's great you got positive OPK first month trying and so soon after coming off the pill. I remember worrying for months after stopping the pill that I wasn't ovulating regularly. Fingers crossed it's your month 🤞🏻 it is so tempting to test early isnt it, I know that feeling! Did you just get your pre natal checks done at the Dr or did you go private for that? I'm wishing i had maybe looked into that last year but hindsight is a great thing isnt it and I (naievely) didnt realise it could be this hard for so many couples 🙈

Nellyk84 · 30/06/2020 08:06

Morning all, I was wondering what people's opinion was on the Femometer Ovulation sticks? They seem to be better value for money than Clearblue yet still not the cheapest on the market.

Stabal · 30/06/2020 08:42

Hi to all the newcomers! 🤞 For everyone!

Made the connection last night that my awful mood is probably because it's my dad's birthday today. He passed away in October so this is the first without him and obviously fathers day has just been and gone too.. I also should have been 15 weeks this fathers day. And then I thought I was pregnant again. Maybe I was. Either way both didn't work out. Sorry for the rant. Just been a weird few days.

Franklyme8 · 30/06/2020 08:51

@Stabal so sorry to hear about your dad, it must be a very tough time recently with everything going on, sending you lots of love 💓

@Nellyk84 I purchased them this month (first month TTC), I’m coming up to my fertile window and have been doing them for the last week or so and the lines are getting darker gradually but I have to admit I did order the Clearblue 4 day OVKs last night because I want a definitive reading the nearer I get to my peak!

msunflower · 30/06/2020 09:10

About 10DPO today, still getting a BFN but having some more pregnancy related symptoms yesterday/today... Headache, lower back pain and just a fullness in my lower tummy as if I'm about to come on. My Clue app is telling me that AF is due in 9 days but I had a shorter cycle last month so it could arrive as early as in the next 5-6 days. Should I try the FRER now or wait a little longer?

LT103 · 30/06/2020 09:25

@Nellyk84 I used them this month and found them really easy. The app is free and you just take a photo of them and it interprets them so no trying to work out what line is darker. All went fine for me. Negative up until 2 days before ovulation then 1 day of high readings, 1 day peak, then tailed off.i would say to test once a day until nearer usual ovulation or you start to see the numbers going above 0 then I’d test 2-3 times a day so you don’t miss peak

LT103 · 30/06/2020 09:28

@Stabal sorry to hear about everything that’s happening. You must be having a tough time. Make sure you take a couple of days just to relax and look after yourself x

CAG14 · 30/06/2020 09:35

@stabal it is completely natural that you feel down. I'm so sorry for your loss. You've been on a real rollercoaster of emotions so it is fine to let yourself feel sad and do what you need to do to look after yourself

@msunflower I would still wait a couple of days to do a FRER as it is still quite early. Suppose it depends how many you have!

@flittingabout I was thinking about you this morning as when you said the window flooded pink and then went white apart from the line, that is just normal for those tests whether you wee on the window or not. Obviously don't want to get your hopes up for no reason but definitely test again today?

OP posts:
msunflower · 30/06/2020 09:37

@CAG14 I've got three left but I'm so damn impatient 🙈

CAG14 · 30/06/2020 09:42

@msunflower dont worry I totally understand. Did you ovulate quite early then? If you are 10DPO but still have 9 days to go but your cycles are usually 29 days it seems like you did ovulate early so AF like you say could only be 5 days away. If so, then a FRER would be okay to do but most people get BFP from 12DPO onwards. Worth a try if you do want to see though. Just hold your wee for 4+ hours before if you can.

Mia1985x · 30/06/2020 09:44

@Stabal so sorry to hear 😔 what a difficult time for you. Sending you lots of love on a particularly tough day, life is so crap at times!

@Nellyk84 I use the femometer ones and also the clear blue ones. The CB ones are expensive but they definitely make me aware of more fertile days on the lead up to ovulation as the detect 2 hormones rather than just the 1. After a few months of rattling through a full box of CB I switched to using these just once a day and waiting until closer to my expected ovulation than I was doing at first. It means I usually only go through about 5 maximum a month (often less) before I get my static smiley. I tend to use the cheapies if I want to test a 2nd time in the day or as soon as I start to see a faint line on the cheapies I check what a CB is saying. Hope that makes sense.

Mia1985x · 30/06/2020 09:52

@msunflower just noticed your message whilst I was typing my last message. My sensible head would say try to wait a few days but I know I wouldn't be able to wait. Your symptoms sound positive.

Can I check something with you all please. So I usually used FRER and I normally can't wait any longer than about 3 days before AF is due (which I thought would show for me as FRER are up to 6 days before AF). However, due to my length of cycle 3 days before AF is only 9DPO. When would everyone test in this case? I ovulated yesterday so waiting game now and already trying to set myself a target date to hold off at least until.

Flittingabout · 30/06/2020 10:04

Morning all.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad @stabal. There are a lot of feelings of grief in the mix for you so no wonder you are feeling low.

I have tests arriving Thursday so will try again asap and be more careful. I think I have mentioned I have never had a BFP in all the time trying so definitely trying to manage my own expectations as is my friend!

I agree with Mia @msunflower sounds good to me!

I think 9 is too early. Could you wait to the day AF is due? I hate seeing BFN so have generally only tested on the few cycles AF was uncharacteristically late. Hence why I peed on the window I think.

Nellyk84 · 30/06/2020 10:14

Hi, thanks for all your feedback. I had my Mirena out on the 11th and need to make sure I am actually ovulating so the Femometer ones sound like they would suit me for now. We are DTD every other day anyway as I have no idea what my cycle is. I've had a coil for the last 13 years and didn't get periods while on it so I'm playing a waiting game.

Stabal · 30/06/2020 10:22

Thanks everyone 💕

LT103 · 30/06/2020 10:48

@Nellyk84 I started testing from cd7 just because I didn’t have any clue what my cycle was like. Turns out it’s fairly average and I ovulated day 14. Better doing slightly later and not first morning pee

Flittingabout · 30/06/2020 10:55

Nelly I missed your question. When I dabbled with tracking I also tested from day 7 because I had read it was the earliest. What I learned was that some months I was day 10, some day 14 and some day 16!

Nellyk84 · 30/06/2020 12:59

@LT103 @Flittingabout I see what you're saying. I think until I have my first proper period I'm not going to be able to track anything. I did bleed for about 5 or 6 days after having the Mirena removed but just put that down to just that as opposed a proper period, if that makes sense lol

LMA27 · 30/06/2020 14:21

Hi all, had a crazy day yesterday didn’t get chance to catch up on the messages until now... and wow, there’s a lot of messages haha

Welcome all the newbies I felt the same when I saw this post, I haven’t told anyone about TTC either so it’s nice to talk about it with other people going through a similar time.

I got another flashing smiley today so I’m hoping to see a steady smiley soon meaning I’m at my peak... I’m on cycle 3 of TTC and I’m on cd11 today.

I feel like I was driving myself mad with all the things I google... why do we do it to ourselves? Ive put a stop to myself googling and I just look at this chat now to help with my mental state 😄 x
