Hey

This is my 9th month TTC my first baby and I'm 33. I got static smiley on Friday on OPK, and now I'm in my TWW - again! I'm currently on furlough so the wait seems even longer and more painful and I definitely end up going a bit crazy 🤪

Anyone else in similar boat and need keeping sane?! Also any TTC tips you've heard of? I will literally try anything at the moment haha.

@LMA27 I hadn't thought about it, i've got some folic acid but i'll look into the supplements.

I'm currently on day 6 of flashing smiley face so hoping there's a solid one soon. x

CAG14 · 28/06/2020 16:38

@sailormoo92 welcome! Sounds like you have done a lot of research but if you have any qs we are all here to help. I'm on month 10 of TTC so it has been a little while for me. I use the CB OPKs which definitely helps and I find that my ovulation does change month on month rather than the same day like my clue and flo apps suggest. I also take supplements coq10 and DHA vital as well folic acid. Good luck!!

Thank you so much everyone. It still doesn't feel real and especially because I had that bleed last week, we're going to do another test tomorrow!!
I always had this lovely idea of how I would tell my partner but in reality I just screamed his name from upstairs and we both cried haha!

LMA27 · 29/06/2020 10:46

@Jadeb1995 that sounds like it was perfect to me.
It’s such good news.

@sailormoo92 I bought pregnacare for me & wellman for OH

Another flashing smiley for me today 😊

Happy Monday everyone x

Stabal · 29/06/2020 11:39

Sick of AF now. Totally exhausted and in horrendous form. At work trying not to cry haha hormones are so much fun. Hope everyone is well.. @Jadeb1995 how you feeling today? I had all these great plans on how to tell my OH but in reality I sat behind him in our office with the test in my pocket for about 15 minutes unable to say anything until he turned around and asked how my stomach was today (I'd been having pain that I thought was my appendix 😂) and then I just handed him the test and he cried lol

Mia1985x · 29/06/2020 13:11

Hi everyone,

Hope you dont mind me joining your chat. I've just spent the last hour catching up on all the posts and so lovely reading all the advice, encouragement and support you are giving each other Smile

@CAG14CAG14
Thanks for starting this thread and sorry to read about your recent disappointment with AF turning up early, reading your symptoms I was hopeful for you.

@Stabal
So sorry to hear about your miscarriage and recent disappointment. The tests really can mess with our heads, that FRER was definitely a BFP so like you said who knows what's going on. Hope you are feeling better soon and AF is over soon for you.

@Jadeb1995
Massive congratulations on your BFP. what amazing news :-) how are you feeling?

@msunflower
How are you feeling now? Your signs all seemed pretty positive. The TWW is so frustrating isnt it!

Me and my husband have been TTC since April last year so 14 months now. We are both 35 and I am really starting to feel so anxious and stressed with it all. Like you have all said its certainly not as straightforward as we are all led to believe at school when they put the fear of god into us about getting pregnant. And yes it is an expensive time as well!

I have been tracking BBT, CM, using OPKs, taking supplements and have also been using conceive plus fertility lubricant. It can all become a bit overwhelming at times but I find it so hard not to obsess over it. Especially during this lockdown when we all have so much extra time on our hands. I am planning to make an appointment at doctors soon just to get some checks done but again with the current situation I dont want to feel like I'm making non essential Dr appointments. Has anyone on here had checks done?

Hope you are all doing well and sending lots of positive vibes everyone's way.

msunflower · 29/06/2020 13:17

@Mia1985x hi, yes all of my symptoms are getting either stronger or I'm getting new ones appear. What I presume was implantation bleeding has stopped, I'm still nauseous and cramping on and off but I now feel dizzy and spaced out, had a metallic taste iny mouth and keep needing to pee a lot. I am usually an early bird but I slept in until 10am at the weekend, something I have never done even as a hungover student! I'm about 9DPO/CD21 and have tested but got a BFN, thinking it's too early to test though?

Wishing you the best of luck, I hope you can get a GP appointment soon. Can't imagine how stressful it must be TTC for 14 months, and all the cost of tests too! Will this be your first child?

Jadeb1995 · 29/06/2020 13:18

I'm feeling ok today, sent my partner out to Sainsbury's at 6.45am this morning and managed to hold my wee in to do another test and it was positive again so we cried again!
Feel like it's been an emotional rollercoaster this week!
If anything it really made me realise how different every woman's experiences are.
I'm really close to my mum and she knew we were ttc so I'm trying to avoid her right now but we will tell her this week.
Welcome @Mia1985x

msunflower · 29/06/2020 13:20

Congrats @Jadeb1995, how are you feeling? Have you decided how to tell your mum yet?

Jadeb1995 · 29/06/2020 13:21

@msunflower fingers crossed for you, when is AF due?
I've had the exact same symptoms to you, I thought I had my period but must have been implantation bleeding.
I tested 2 days after AF should have been (I just felt strange and although I'd just finished bleeding still had a weird feeling) I got a BFN but then a week later I've had 2 BFP's.
It's like an emotional rollercoaster!!

Jadeb1995 · 29/06/2020 13:23

@msunflower

Congrats *@Jadeb1995*, how are you feeling? Have you decided how to tell your mum yet?
My mum has a countdown hanging in her kitchen that says "days till our next holiday", their Holiday has just been cancelled so we have ordered one that says "weeks until our first grandchild arrives" and we're going to replace it while they're out of the room and then when they return my partner is going to point out that they've got a new countdown. We're hoping to film it xx
msunflower · 29/06/2020 13:23

@Jadeb1995 I'm due in 10 days time so this is super encouraging to hear you had similar symptoms! How long have you been ttc?

msunflower · 29/06/2020 13:25

@Jadeb1995 that's a fantastic idea!!! I hope you can film it, will be something to cherish forever! We haven't told anyone we are trying only hinted to my in laws but not given a time frame to tell them. I'm wondering whether to think about doing something similar if I get a BFP - thanks for the idea!

Jadeb1995 · 29/06/2020 13:27

@msunflower yes when I read your comments, it's very similar to me! After the negative test last week, I've been using OPKs this week and everything said I should have been ovulating but I was getting so annoyed that there wasn't a strong line haha!
We've been really lucky and fell pregnant on our second cycle, I never expected it to be this quick and I know how fortunate we are. I'm 25 but been on the pill for around 7 years so always thought it would take longer.
How long have you been ttc?

msunflower · 29/06/2020 13:34

@Jadeb1995 that's so good to hear, I bet it was frustrating not getting a BFP but having all the symptoms, I'm feeling much the same already and still have a wait ahead of me! Congrats on getting the BFP so early on! This is my first cycle ttc so I'm in utter shock I've got these symptoms. I'm 29 and DH is 32 so I was thinking it would take months and months. Do you think the pill affected your cycles? I was on the pill for over 10 years but came off it a couple of years ago to have surgery but couldn't get on with it again after that. Since then I've been using condoms and tracking my periods and feel like I've got quite intune with my cycles, just hoping I can get a BFP soon too!

Jadeb1995 · 29/06/2020 13:45

@msunflower I don't think the pill affected me at all. I have 29 days cycle with 4 days of AF which I had before the pill and my mums always had the same.
When I had (what I presume was) my implantation bleed, it's for around 6 days early so I then thought maybe that's my body coming off the pill.
I remember my nurse saying to me that some people can take months to fall after the pill but others it happens to right away. I think being in lockdown had a lot to do with it, I was furloughed and my partner was working from home. We usually work in an office and I tend to work crazy long days with a lot of stress so I think cutting that out did me the world of good. Terrified to tell my boss now though haha!

msunflower · 29/06/2020 13:49

@Jadeb1995 I can't believe how many similarities we have... I also have a 29 day cycle with 4 days AF, I was also furloughed and my DH is WFH, and we both used to work crazy hours in the office before lockdown! What did you do to take your mind off the TWW?!

Mia1985x · 29/06/2020 13:53

Thanks both for the welcome Smile

@msunflower 9 DPO is quite early to test and all your symptoms are sounding so positive so everything crossed for you. How long are your cycles normally?

@Jadeb1995 oh wow what a lovely idea with the countdown! Nice to have something special to look forward to especially after their holiday. Will this be their first time becoming grandparents?

Yes this will be our first baby. After 12 years together and the constant questions from people when you having a baby. We finally felt the time was right for us early last year. Little did I know it would be this hard and makes me wonder have we left it too late and wish we had started trying earlier. For me it was almost an instant change overnight from thinking maybe one day in the future to oh now I'm ready and tbh it feels sometimes like it is all I think about. Also obsessed with watching one born every minute and emma willis etc Why do we do it to ourselves??

My cycles are usually 24-26 days and I have been using the clear blue advanced digital for months now. Some months I get 4 or 5 flashing smiles then a static (I like those months) and others I can get all empty circles then straight to a static smile. This month is new though - all empty circles then yesterday and today flashing smile. According to my app and tracking I'm due to ovulate today. So not sure if I am ovulating later this month than normal or if my surge maybe isnt high enough to show static. I've ran out of CB sticks today so just relying on the cheapies until I can pick up some more. I've convinced myself I'm not going to ovulate this month. But guess I should put that out of my mind and continue doing the deed for next couple of days just incase.

Do any of you have mixed results on CB like this?

Mia1985x · 29/06/2020 13:57

@msunflower just noticed your message while I was typing that your usually 29 days. 9DPO does seem early.

I also worry that with my cycles sometimes only being 24 days maybe they are too short for implantation to happen. I dont even know if that is a thing?? Some of the things I've found myself googling the past year are just crazy haha

Jadeb1995 · 29/06/2020 13:59

@msunflower that's crazy! I've got everything crossed for you.

@Mia1985x yes it'll be their first grandchild, other than our dogs haha! I honestly can't wait to tell them :)

msunflower · 29/06/2020 14:04

@Mia1985x I'm pretty sure cycles vary from 20 something to 30 something days so I wouldn't worry, but also worth chatting to your GP if you are worried and want to understand more. I've not done any OPKs as this is the first month ttc for us and I hadn't really heard about them until now! Do you track your cycles on an app? I use Clue and it has my fertile window in there, I just based it on that. I'm so new to this, I think you know a heck of a lot more about it than I do 🙈 I was the exact same as you going from 'we think we want children in the future' for about four years, then we had a bunch of things like moving house, change of location, jobs etc that it's only in lockdown now, away form our high stress jobs we've just decided it's now or never. It's hard when people keep asking when you're going to have a baby isn't it? Someone told me to 'hurry up before its too late' the other day and I was so mad at her for saying that to anyone!

Stabal · 29/06/2020 14:10

@Mia1985x welcome! Sorry to hear your struggles too, it can become incredibly frustrating. Absolutely ring and get the ball rolling for checks for you and your OH. We were just beginning our journey in November after TTC for 2 years. I'd had cycle and hormonal bloodwork done and was waiting on AF to arrive to go for my HSG test when we found out I was pregnant. OH was waiting on confirmation for a semen analysis appointment too. It takes a little while to get going so best to get started, even if they're not doing appointments for this sort of thing right now at least you'll be on a list when things calm down!

@msunflower 🤞 for you, all sounds promising!

@Jadeb1995 that's such a cute idea! We told my mum with a reveal scratchcard that had 3 "we're having a baby!"'s on it. We were in the throws of lockdown when we told her so we put the scratchcard in an envelope and wrote on it, "if you win, prize will be redeemed in December" and posted it through her door, knocked on her window and stood back in her garden as she opened and scratched it. She read it and said, "we're having a baby, I don't think so!" meaning her and my step dad then she did a double take at us in the garden and she finally caught on 😂😂

LT103 · 29/06/2020 14:11

@msunflower I’ve had that a few times tbh o I’m sure always coming from the right place but telling someone t get pregnant before it’s too late always seems awkward to me. I had it once from my boss but him and his wife had just had several miscarriages before giving up on a second and I think he really did mean well and was just really upset at the time. But I’ve also had it from family members too. I never know what to answer. It was always on the cards but I was never going to start trying before we were ready. I might have left it to late but I guess time will tell!!

msunflower · 29/06/2020 14:12

@Stabal haha I absolutely love your scratchcard idea!!! Brilliant, well done! Bet their faces were a picture when they realised!

msunflower · 29/06/2020 14:14

@LT103 it's hard isn't it? I was so shocked they said it that I for once didn't know what to say 🙈 the person who said it has a little boy, didn't have any issues having him so I think it might have been more of a having children is great, come and join the club type thing.
