Pregnancy after MMC

Bells993 · 04/05/2020 10:55

Hi Everyone,
Unfortunately I had a MMC on our second pregnancy last month. (I have a 1 year old)
I should of been 9 weeks at my Scan but baby was only 8 weeks 4 so it had just happened. 3 days later I had a private D&C as I didn’t want to risk the hospital/ the trauma of dealing with it at home with my little boy.
I had bleeding on and off for 2 weeks after (6th of April was the D&C) I had regular bloody tests, my last one my HCG had come down to 70 so 3 days later I got my first negative test.
I had an internal to confirm no retained pregnancy and was given the all clear to try again straight away. I’ve had cystitis this weekend to add to my problems and now I’m getting this on my tests. Had anyone experienced anything similar, what are your thoughts? Feel like my body’s just giving up on me haha! I’d love to be pregnant again but I’d just be surprised if it could all happen within such a small time scale
Thanks everyone

@Bells993 - I have 2 apps which say AF is due on different dates. But I know I was at peak fertility on Saturday; so roughly 2 weeks from then puts me on the 27th. I'm trying not to wish the 2 weeks away.

xoxo

Hi girls,

Im very sorry for all your losses, i hope you dont mind me jumping in. It feels strange finding people going through the same as its been very lonely time. Ive recently had a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks but it dragged on until i would have been nearly 16weeks. It was all too familiar as id had one a few years ago. Found it so difficult during covid with attending scans on my own etc. Felt like i got treated awfully and dismissed as i was refused a d&c and told i had to manage at home with mm. Then it didnt work which i knew and i had to pay for private scans as hospital refused to scan me which showed retained product. I was left so long i got an infection which two lots of antibiotics didnt clear up. I was calling drs and hospital in tears and was dismissed every time. Luckily it then happened and i was able to then wait for neg test. Im now on second cycle and 2 days away from af and dreading it i have cramps. Not ready for another negative.

I just feel like It was do much worse this time and my brothers wife is pregnant so its a constant reminder.

What a nightmare eh?! I hope we all get our positive soon and i send you all the best of luck Smile xxxx

msanne · 16/06/2020 15:59

Hi @Jessie6 - That sounds so awful. So sorry for your loss. Which hospital was this at? I am based in near London and the sonographer who told me at my 12 week scan was awful but the aftercare I received was exceptional. I am so sorry you had to go through that.

Glad that you are on the mend now - this group of ladies has been invaluable for me during this time. If you ever need to vent - then we are here :)

On the upside - you will know in 2 days whether it is AF or a BFP. So you can start planning either way. Remember that AF symptoms are usually very similar to early pregnancy - so you can't be sure until you test.

Please know though, that if you don't get your BFP this month - you will eventually when your body is ready. I've only just recently come to terms with this, as I was very fortunate with both of my DC and conceived almost on my first cycle of trying with them. My 3rd pregnancy was the same - we got pregnant within 2 cycles of trying, without OPKs and just DTD when I thought I would be fertile. However, it was not meant to be and we are now on 2nd cycle of trying again. Although this time, I think I know more than the doctors do - thanks to all the information I have learnt on MN and general reading.

I am hopeful for a BFP - and will be disappointed if it doesn't happen this month. But I am certain, that my time will come again and I am just going to be open to it now. Please don't put more pressure on yourself than you already have. It will happen!

xoxo

Jessie6 · 16/06/2020 18:48

@msanne Sorry for you loss its so hard isnt it, im glad your so positive thats how it happens again!! it was QA in Portsmouth I was asked 3 times how many weeks i was etc and there was no communication. Felt like i was begging to be seen all the time with a made up problem. At one of the scans they said to me after waiting over an hour someone else would be seen before me as they had a pregnancy complication and left me with pregnant women. It was if to say its too late for you so you can wait. I feel as though they deal with physical side...ish and dont even try and remember the emotional side as they see it day in day out!

I agree we learn so much from reading and only we know our own bodies! Im sure we could give drs run for money haha! After my last missed miscarriage it took 14 month to conceive but it was only when i stopped obsessing and had my mind taken off it (got engaged) it happened and have a nearly 2 year old now. It will happen again for both of us sending lots of luck your way! How far in your cycle are you? Appreciate your message really needed it so thank you keep me updated on your progress!!! Xxxxx

Frankincense88 · 16/06/2020 19:29

@bells993 Yes! I'm due to test around 6th July I think so you're right it'll be about the same time! I'm just plain old circle on my OPK today so going to wait until about Thurs Friday before the marathon begins 😂 I usually ovulate around day 18 which will be the 24th so will see what happens!

@Jessie6 welcome lovely and so sorry for your loss. I was treated poorly in hospital as well and I'm still cross about it. Hopefully you can find some solace here - I've found this thread so supportive and helpful x

@msanne good luck with your TWW! Let us know when it's test day 💕

msanne · 16/06/2020 19:47

@Jessie6 - I had a bit of waiting around in rooms full of pregnant women too - it is just dreadful.

According to my app - I am now on CD20. Period due in 1 week on one app and 2 weeks on another - I've got cheapie PTs - so I've got some money to burn - haha :) Think I will start on the 23rd but realistically won't get a solid result until at least the 28th. Defos not symptom spotting this time so just going with it - it's the only way I can keep my sanity!

Sending you all lots of love xoxo

MrsTtobe · 17/06/2020 08:48

Hey girls,
You're so right @Bells993, time has never gone so slowly. It's only been one week tomorrow since I did the test but feels like months ago. Trying to keep busy and its such a shame but im so scared to tempt fate that im steering clear of all things pregnancy related. 😔 last time I was ordering maternity clothes at 8 weeks ans following all the week by week pregnancy apps. I just can't bring myself to do it now. Miscarriage really does change us forever!

@msanne how are you getting on lovely? Trying to keep your mind off the tww? My oh is so laid back and keeps saying take it a day at a time but I'm impatient. 😬

@Jessie6 so sorry for your loss. It's so so hard. We all have slightly different stories but with one thing in common. We all lost our very wanted babies. These girls have amazing words of wisdom and have made me feel happy on some really dark days. Much love to you and lots of luck. ❤

On a different note... did you all have storms last night? Was horrendous here in the Midlands. Was like being in a film. Armageddon came to mind. 😳 xxx

Jessie6 · 17/06/2020 09:45

Thank you girls @msanne @Frankincense88 @mrsTtobe

@mrsTtobe We had no storms here im down south in Portsmouth, its ok to take it slow this time the apps and clothes can wait theyre always there support like this is most important congrats btw Smile

@Frankincense88 i think i ovulate on cd18 aswell, i did before mc haven't tracked Since but had some cramps on cd18 how long is your cycle? I used to be 28days but obviously not sure now. Will be cd28 tomorrow for me so we will see. Also sorry tmi but do you count cd1 as spotting brown or first day of red blood?

@msanne i found the same with apps last time they say different and gets confusing not what we need! How you feeling? Im being kept busy trying to potty train a toddler and working from home- too much wee on my carpet than i would like atm but i bought a carpet cleaner machine which i was very excited about how sad haha!

Xxx

msanne · 17/06/2020 10:43

Hahaha - it is so true @Jessie 6! I used to buy "cool" things - now i'm excited if I find a cool gadget for the house - my latest purchase being a churro maker. Not that I need any more calories either lol - I blame the kids :P

@MrsTtobe - I'm ok hun. Getting weird cramping but trying my best to brush it off. I went on a totally wild goose chase yesterday - I misplaced our passports (not that we're using them atm) but turned the house upside down trying to find them. This has in turn opened up about a million other things I need to sort out today!

It's sunny here today - so going to go to the park later I think and get the kids to stretch out their legs and get some fresh air. It also gives me a good excuse not to sort out the mess I've made at home!!

Big hugs to you all xoxo

Frankincense88 · 17/06/2020 13:23

@MrsTtobe yes! Storms here from about 7pm. Thunder and lightning too! My garden has had a nice drink though 😂

@jessie6 I'm usually a 27-28 day cycle but since my MMC I've had a 33 day and a 29 day cycle so could be anything really!

Hoping this month is the month I get lucky! I'll only have a couple of weeks at work after testing then 6 weeks summer holidays so can relax without stressing about being in work and catching Covid 😩

Bells993 · 18/06/2020 20:07

@Jessie6 so sorry hun, you sound like you’ve had a awful time 😭 fingers crossed for you this month. I count the first full day of bleeding as CD1 not sure if that’s the right thing to do but I think that I read it somewhere haha.

How are you doing @Frankincense88

Still no solid face for me, I’ve been testing for a week tomorrow. High fertility since Saturday so hopefully I get a solid face this weekend.

@MrsTtobe you’ve got this! Stay positive 😍😍

Ekkk counting down the days for you @msanne

Hopefully we all get some more good news this month xxx

Thank you ladies 😊😘 I'm rooting for you all. ❤
So what dates are you all due AF/ testing?

@Bells993 I'm ok, seem to have one stressy day then one good day. But just taking each day as it comes and dealing with my toilet anxiety. I can't even begin to tel you the fear every time I go to the loo. 🙈

@msanne How are you feeling lovely? Not long to go, hope you're keeping busy. Happy birthday to your hubby... I'm sure you said it was today? 😊

@Frankincense88 how are you finding work? Did staff know you were pregnant? Xxx

Bells993 · 18/06/2020 20:31

@MrsTtobe ahhh hun that’s awful for you. Your over the first hurdle though! Each day is another step forward!

Hmmm I really don’t know, if I still haven’t ovulated at CD17 I guess second week of July at some point. Might delay it for as long as I can just to try and keep me sane 😫😂 xxx

Hello ladies @msanne @Frankincense88 @MrsTtobe just checking in, all ok here I was due more blood tests Wednesday but my kit is delayed in the post... very annoying!!! Good news is Af has shown up right on time..... surely that must be a good sign. I did have really bad ovulation pains this month never experienced them before maybe my ovaries waking up after six months of doing nothing.
Glad to hear your all ok fingers crossed we get more good news soon!!

Frankincense88 · 18/06/2020 21:13

@leaf87 so glad AF has returned and i def think that's a good sign. Sending lots of positive vibes to you 💕💕

@Bells993 all good this end lovely, CD12 and still circle on my OPK. Hoping to get flashing smiley over the weekend but it probs won't be until next week! How're things with you? Xx

@mrsttobe my department and SLT knew but that's all. They've all been really supportive when I've been in this week (which has been every day!) I've taught the same lesson to Year 10 ELEVEN TIMES since Monday. 😭 was def ready for a big glass of wine when I got in 😂

Bells993 · 19/06/2020 10:36

@Leaf87 I think that must be a good sign! Fingers crossed for your results next week!

@Frankincense88 I’m good thank you, still flashing face which worries me. I only had the circle for one day! Not sure if the tests won’t work this month as I’m on day 7 of flashing face tomorrow. Been trying to DTD as much as possible just incase. Not sure what will happen with my cycle this month, making me worry they could be all over the place xxx

Hey ladies,

@MrsTTobe - Hubby's birthday went good :) I baked 2 cakes so we totally pigged out yesterday and are recovering today.

I totally get the toilet fear - I feel the same...but sending you lots of positive vibes!

@Leaf87 - so happy your AF showed up. You can start afresh now and know your body is back on track :)

@Bells993 - I am itching to test but only 6 DPO so need to wait at least until 9 - hahaha! Will update you guys on Monday!

@Frankincense88 - it's Friday so hopefully you can have a weekend of relaxation and no repeated lessons.

Big hugs xoxo

Frankincense88 · 19/06/2020 16:31

@msanne just the 55 essays to mark by Monday now 😂 I've done 30 today and had a meeting so I'm stopping now and I'll do the rest tomorrow morning probably!

@bells993 I had the exact same thing last month - I think when used exactly as the instructions say they're super effective but I started testing on day 10 last cycle then had one day of circle then like 9 days of flashing. Kept DTD anyway but gave up with testing and did a cheapy when I had some pain and it was positive but we only DTD the day before ovulation so missed the boat. This month I started testing on day 8 and had 3 days of low circle before getting a flashing face today. Might be worth saving your remaining sticks to use next cycle (if needed) and just keep DTD and begin testing earlier in your cycle next time. Hopefully you won't need to test next cycle though!!

Got my flashing smiley this morning though so just bracing myself for the next few days 😂😂

Bells993 · 19/06/2020 21:52

@Frankincense88 ahh so annoying, thing is my cycles are 33 days so I tested earlier than what it wanted as well as I was worried they could be different this cycle! Ahh we will see what happens, just keep at it haha!

@msanne ekkkk, exciting! Fingers crossed for you!
Count down is on! Xxx

Hey Girls,
So I’ve had cramping today (never had ovulation pains before my MC) guessing this is a new thing but I’ve felt it all day. I purposely didn’t wee from 12pm - 6pm to re test to see and I got a solid face! What are we thinking? Testing in the avo messed it up or I’m defo OV’ing Xxx

OP posts:
Frankincense88 · 20/06/2020 20:19

I'd say ovulating! Get off mumsnet and get busy!! Xxx

Frankincense88 · 20/06/2020 20:20

@bells993 sorry forgot to tag you in my excitement!! 😂

msanne · 22/06/2020 09:33

Ohhhhh exciting @Bells993! How did the weekend go for you and @Frankincense88?

Can't believe that it is Monday already :(

I took a cheapie HPT today - didn't really see anything. I think I need to wait a few more days. Keep getting cramping though, feel nauseous all the time! I swear, I must've got these types of symptoms all the time for PMS - but am SO aware of it now and feel sooo nervous!

Have a good week ladies! xoxo

Frankincense88 · 22/06/2020 10:23

@msanne had a busy weekend 😂 static smiley this morning so have left strict instructions for DH to be ready to go when I get home from school 😂 how're you feeling? Are you late for AF yet? Xx

Bells993 · 22/06/2020 11:10

I’ve DTD for 7 days straight hahaa 🙈 if I’m not pregnant I’ll be fumming! My Static smiley is due to go today so I’ll try one more time tonight and then I well deserved break! The two week wait begins 😫
@Frankincense88 Good luck 🤣🤣 xx
@msanne fingers crossed for some good news for you this week! Be thinking of you xxxx
