Hello Ladies.

I’m mid 30s ttc my first. I was on the depo before, I know that causes issues to fertility and it will take longer. It was three months before my periods came back but I’ve been regular as clockwork since. Fairly certain I’m ovulating (lot of signs pointing to it) but still no baby. Im due again in the next couple of days and I can tell I’m going to come on.

I tried with my ex a few years ago for 7/8 months (although it was a very half hearted and not really a surprise it didn’t happen.) I wanted a baby for different reasons back then and got very upset every month. I was determined not to get as upset and try be more relaxed with my new partner but I’m starting to find it hard.

How do you cope with the disappointment of another failed cycle?

Yeah get in a good habit with that @Twinkletoes85! It's so hard remembering. It's funny cos I'm feeling twingy and trying my best not to think it's something. I literally hate ttc, it's such a head fuck!

Twinkletoes85 · 31/05/2020 21:28

@notyetamumbuttrying it really is. I’d honestly managed to not think about it all day, we had a lovely day pottering around and a bbq so I had a gin. Then he was walking down stairs as I was on the landing so eye level with my boobs and just made a casual comment about how they’ve got bigger.

I’m definitely noting it down in my app so next month I can go ohhhh don’t get too excited!

Thats a great way to describe it @notyetamumbuttrying! I was wearing a cami top today in the sun and mine were ginormous. They're pretty big anyway I dont know what I'll do when I actually am pregnant. I think it's normal for me though around this time. I'm 11dpo I just want the next few days to fly by

DSC1 · 31/05/2020 21:35

@Twinkletoes85 definitely a good idea to write down symptoms!

I am now CD13 - according to my app I should be ovulating today but still have the flashing smiley on the CB ovulation tests. So now I’m like should we DTD tonight or give hubby a break? But then if I get static smiley tomorrow we may have to be 3 nights on the run which, being on cycle 11 has lost some of its shine...
Oh and I have just realised that AF is due on my LGs 2nd bday!

notyetamumbuttrying · 31/05/2020 21:44

@Twinkletoes85 I'm having a gin now! 🍸
Yeah I had to do that cos I was just depressing myself every month. Even tho I notice my twinges now, I try not to pay attention to them. I must just be a twingy girl lol!
@Fifol I think so too! It's the worse thing I've ever done and it's having sex, which I love to do lol! Headfuck 🤪
Ooh not long for you then! Will you test before AF?

Tilly1403 · 31/05/2020 21:55

Argh it's such a headfuck that all the early pregnancy symptoms are also PMS! I've been having tinges and some.brwats tenderness but I'm trying not to get carried away with myself this month. I'm 9dpo today. What's the earliest you guys tend to test? Or do you prefer to wait to see if AF comes before testing?

Hoping41 · 31/05/2020 21:58

@Twinkletoes85 🤞I'm crossing my fingers for you. I don't think I've ever been so in tune with the twinges of my body. I was on the pill for years so I've never really experienced this. Long days at home don't help either as it's just more time to notice things. Here's to bigger boobs though, I'm looking forward to that bit!!
It must be the night for old movies. We're watching Harry Potter 😂

MummyOfZog · 31/05/2020 21:59

Hi all - sorry went a bit quiet. AF was late but got BFN then it turned up and I wanted to space away from ttc stuff while I regrouped and took a week or so to just relax without worrying about it all. So, cycle #8. Now on CD11 and have started to get "high" on my CB fertility monitor and expect I'll maybe ovulate sometime this week (usually around CD16-18 but can be later). I must admit I'm feeling quiet flat this month about it all! How is everyone getting on?

CurbsideProphet · 31/05/2020 22:01

@Tilly1403 we're the same age and have been ttc a similar amount of time 👋🏻
I only poas if AF is late, as I've had 2 chemical pregnancies and it was awful to see the line on cycle day 27 and then bleed from day 30. I'm sorry to be a downer! Just thought it might be useful.

I was reading the NHS statistics on conceiving this weekend 🙄🤷🏻‍♀️ 84% of couples will conceive within the first 12 months of trying. Of the remaining 16%, over half will conceive within the second 12 months of trying. I think mumsnet shows just how true that is, as there are women getting pregnant from once month of trying all the way to those of us trying for over 6 months.

jessmcg · 31/05/2020 22:04

@Tilly1403 I’m 9DPO too! We are in the same boat. AF is due Friday and I’m tempted to test on Wednesday but still thinking about it. I feel like I’ve been on this rollercoaster for some time now and I take the ‘rejection’ better from AF arriving rather than the crushing defeat of seeing a BFN! What are you planning to do?
@notyetamumbuttrying I’m a twinger too - you’re not alone! I read into it constantly but I remember I had this last month, so trying not to read into things too much. Only thing slightly different this month is a bit of nausea, but I could just randomly have that due to the heat or a bit of dehydration!

Fifol · 31/05/2020 22:06

@notyetamumbuttrying I usually don't test. Always tempted but I just wait because I can't bear the bfn. Only tested one month when I was late and had 3 bfns and think they scarred me!!

Tilly1403 · 31/05/2020 22:13

@curbsideprophet those stats make me feel a bit more optimistic, thanks for sharing. Wish I wasn't so impatient, I'm impatient at the best of times, combined with also being a bit of a control freak doesn't make TTC a particularly relaxing experience! Have you discussed TTC with your doctor or had any tests done? My GP is a bit dismissive of my concerns at the moment, guess they maybe just want to wait until over 12 months.

notyetamumbuttrying · 31/05/2020 22:15

@Tilly1403 I vary month to month. Usually just let af show as I'm onto cycle 9 now and can't be arsed anymore lol! But joined mn start of May and tested early for the first time in months and obvs it was bfn! Will prob test early again tbh but at 14dpo. Only a day to wait until af then.
@MummyOfZog hope you enjoy dtd this week! It's good you took the time out to gather yourself. I'm ok thanks.
@jessmcg my nausea yesterday was from eating too much sat in the sun lol! Glad I'm not the only twinger then 😂
That's fair @Fifol I don't blame you. Prob makes more sense to wait for af and then test when missed. I bought some early tests so the temptation will be too much not to crack this month! 11 more days to go...

Tilly1403 · 31/05/2020 22:17

@jessmcg I usually wait for AF to rear her ugly head before testing, think I'll stick with that approach as I think a BFN would be even more soul destroying than AF arriving.

notyetamumbuttrying · 31/05/2020 22:18

Ha same as me @Tilly1403!! I spoke with mine last week and wouldn't touch me until the 12 month mark! I'm 34 so thought they might, but nope, gotta wait. It's killing me 😫how old are you?

Tilly1403 · 31/05/2020 22:23

@notyetamumbuttrying I'm 34 as well! I thought 34 is nearly 35 so maybe they'll bend the rules slightly or give me some kind of sympathy....but nope!

notyetamumbuttrying · 31/05/2020 22:28

Haha exactly the same @Tilly1403! I'm in London and thought it was a London thing as my mate in Bucks was seen at 9 months. Whereabouts are you based?

Tilly1403 · 31/05/2020 22:31

@notyetamumbuttrying nope not a London thing I don't think, I'm from Hampshire and it's the same here!

notyetamumbuttrying · 31/05/2020 22:38

I think she lied about the real amount of time to be seen quicker. No idea why I didn't do that lol, too damn honest for my own good 😂 @Tilly1403 well let's hope we don't get to needing those tests and it happens before the 12 month mark!

CurbsideProphet · 31/05/2020 22:55

@Tilly1403 and @notyetamumbuttrying I'm 34 as well. My GP has been very kind, as I've been seeing her through 2 chemical pregnancies since new year - now ttc for 7 cycles. I've had some bloods to check thyroid etc and hormones (normal so far apparently). I'm actually seeing her in person next week. She said we'll go from there. I know she will struggle to refer me before 12 cycles of ttc, but equally she's doing everything she can. I feel v lucky, as I know most women are just told to come back after 12 months.

notyetamumbuttrying · 31/05/2020 23:18

That's great @CurbsideProphet! You're very lucky to have such an understanding gp! Is your partner getting his checks done too?

jaxs23 · 01/06/2020 03:13

I'm 11 DPO. I try not to test early but got a high temp yesterday so I tested yesterday. Faint line. Tested again today another faint line. Terrified it's going to be another chemical pregnancy

Morning ladies,

Those statistics make it sound a bit more positive!

@MummyOfZog I’m sorry you were feeling down and I understand the need to have a break sometimes. It’s such a frustrating time. How are you aside from the ttc?

@jaxs23 have you had more than one chemical before (sorry if you’ve already said). It’s a very faint line, I will keep my fingers crossed!

jessmcg · 01/06/2020 08:04

Morning all. I agree @Twinkletoes85 - those stats are encouraging. I’m currently reading Taking Charge Of Your Fertility too which I’m finding v useful - wish I’d read it sooner to be honest! Anyone else read it?
So I’m 10 DPO and after bad cramps and bloating on 8DPO I am now officially feeling nothing apart from sunburn 🥵 🤣. AF due Friday and I’m going to wait for it. Let the games begin...

Twinkletoes85 · 01/06/2020 08:46

@jessmcg Is that a book? I’ve not heard of it would you recommend?

Fingers crossed for you!
