Hello Ladies.

I’m mid 30s ttc my first. I was on the depo before, I know that causes issues to fertility and it will take longer. It was three months before my periods came back but I’ve been regular as clockwork since. Fairly certain I’m ovulating (lot of signs pointing to it) but still no baby. Im due again in the next couple of days and I can tell I’m going to come on.

I tried with my ex a few years ago for 7/8 months (although it was a very half hearted and not really a surprise it didn’t happen.) I wanted a baby for different reasons back then and got very upset every month. I was determined not to get as upset and try be more relaxed with my new partner but I’m starting to find it hard.

How do you cope with the disappointment of another failed cycle?

@posy1 welcome! Smile

@PinkFlamingoGirl @Seafrontsky I gave up caffeine in November and it has made me feel so much better. I do still have a decaf coffee every morning (there is trace caffeine in there, so not out entirely), but I don’t have any normal coffee or other drinks with caffeine eg tea, soft drinks etc. The first week was HELL but after that it has been fine. What I noticed the most actually was the fact my sleep quality has significantly improved!

Tilly1403 · 31/05/2020 10:44

Hi everyone. Hope it's ok to join the thread. My husband and I (both 34yo) have been ttc for 9 months and each month when af arrives it's getting more and more disheartening. I've been temping and using opks. My luteal phase is fairly short (10-12 days) but my doctor doesn't trust opks (!!!) so has said that's probably not the case (I've decided to trust the tests and my indicts over what the gp is saying right now!).
My best friend announced two weeks ago she's pregnant, first month of trying! I'm happy for her but it seems to have made me obsessed and even more panicked than usual this month. We have decided not to tell anyone were trying but I really wanted to find someone to talk to about the ups and downs of it all!

Missgoldilocks · 31/05/2020 11:19

Morning everyone, hope you're all OK?
I'm due af today, pretty sure it's going to come but still have a little hope since I spotted teency bit on Friday which was 11dpo and had nothing since. I normally come on in the mornings but obviously have the whole day to come on! I'm praying af stays away I'm so scared lol I can't test because if it's a bfn it hurts worse than af coming... Trying to stay a little hopeful that maybe it's my time...

Missgoldilocks · 31/05/2020 11:21

@Tilly1403 welcome! It's hard isn't it, I've been Ttc 10 months it just gets harder as time goes on. I cried the other day when someone posted a paiitive pregnancy test I just couldn't help it. Temping is really good and a very accurate way of noting ovulation, are your cycles quite regular?

Fifol · 31/05/2020 11:28

Hi @Posy1 and @Tilly1403 definitely lots of support in here!
@Seafrontsky good luck and let us know how you get on with it! I only have one coffee and one tea per day and I think that's an ok limit but I'm tempted to keep my one cup of tea but switch the coffee to decaf.

@missgoldilocks hope af stays away, fingers crossed!

I'm 11dpo today. I posted yesterday that my boobs were a little sore in the morning but in the evening they were quite sore, still the same this morning. It confuses me as my boob soreness varies from cycle to cycle. There have been a couple where they have been very sore and the last few they have only been a little tender for a day or two. Dull cramps feeling also, this also isnt unusual. But staying positive and you never know! As always I'll be so tempted to test from tomorrow on but I never do I can't cope with bfns!

Missgoldilocks · 31/05/2020 11:34

@fifol I have everything crossed for you that uts good news!!! Yes testing is always tempting but my partner refuses lol and that helps me stay strong! I'm getting cramps now so af might just be on the way

notyetamumbuttrying · 31/05/2020 11:57

Hi @Tilly1403 exact same as me! 34, ttc for 9 months now. Everyone around me pregnant (inc my sister) and I'm not! Angus castus could help with a short luteal phase. I'm taking them to delay ovulation as I ovulate early usually (cd10). So I'd have a look into that supplement. You start cd1 and stop when you get your positive opk.

Good luck @Missgoldilocks and @Fifol everything is crossed for you both!!

Missgoldilocks · 31/05/2020 12:23

@notyetamumbuttrying thank you!

PinkFlamingoGirl · 31/05/2020 12:34

@notyetamumbuttrying this is cycle 7 and yes my first. Glad to hear it's a myth. I think it's only us ladies who don't fall pg within cycle one or two who start to read into EVERYTHING that could be stopping it happening when really, I think a lot of its luck and not because you had sex in the TWW or a glass of wine during ovulation. Who knows!!

I didn't know there was trace caffeine in decaff! Ah well, I'm one normal and then a couple of decaffs a day. I sometimes have one tea a day as well or one can of zero pop. Just depends.

Just had a very nice session of DTD and now I'm lying with my legs up the wall 😂😂 another myth but it can't hurt, right??

PinkFlamingoGirl · 31/05/2020 12:39

Oh I have to agree with the everyone around me is pregnant. I have 9 friends who are currently expecting and two who have just had new borns. I'm delighted for them but I do feel a wee bit of panic that it's not going to happen for me every time there is an announcement has come. I then try to push that to the back of my mind and get back to the positive mindset, no it will happen soon 🙈

Twinkletoes85 · 31/05/2020 12:50

Welcome @Tilly1403 I know how you feel. One of my close friends fell on 1st month just before we started trying. She’s due in a couple of weeks and it’s been hard! We talk every day and she tells me all about her pregnancy and it’s really hard sometimes. She knows we’re trying but doesn’t get it really since it happened so quickly

OP posts:
Missgoldilocks · 31/05/2020 12:55

@Twinkletoes85 they never understand when it happens quickly for them lol

Posy1 · 31/05/2020 13:07

Thanks for the welcome everyone. :)

@Twinkletoes85 we are incredibly lucky and have a crazy 2.5 year old. It took us a while when trying with her, so I understand the extra stress and desire when trying for your first. This time, we realise how lucky we already are, so its a bit easier. How long have you been trying? Where are you in your cycle now?
I have used the internet cheapies to check ovulation the last two cycles, but tempted to try the clear blue ones as i seem to go straight from low to peak and then ovulate the same/next day with them which is confusing. Although i can usually tell when i'm about to ovulate anyway as its the only time of the month I seem to have a sex drive at the moment.

@PinkFlamingoGirl - i'm impressed, go you and your fella. We usually only manage to DTD every other day during the fertile window, if we manage it two days in a row its a bonus. We used conceive plus last month too. I didn't use as much as you are supposed to though as i was worried about it reducing friction too much....haha.

@notyetamumbuttrying My luteal phase is usally 14 days too, but have been having alot of 24/25 day cycles since we starting TTC. I'm taking ubiquinol, pregnacare, acai berry extract, high dose vitamin D, and evening primrose oil until ovulation. I was taking red clover extract until last month and am now considering starting Vitamin E and extra Metylfolate. Wow I sound like a vitamin junkie! Blush Have you read 'it starts with the egg?' That's what prompted my vitamin addiction.

Still waiting on AF today too @Missgoldilocks. Know she is coming so just want to move onto the next cycle.

Tilly1403 · 31/05/2020 13:21

@notyetamumbuttrying thanks for the suggestion. Did agnus cactus work for you? What dose do you take? I've been reading up about various supplements but there seems to be conflicting advice on EVERYTHING!
@missgoldilocks thanks for the welcome. My cycles are regular-ish! When I stopped the pill they were all over the place for the first few months, but have been 26-31 days for the last 9 months.
@posy1 have you found any benefit from taking the acai berry?

Hoping41 · 31/05/2020 13:44

Well, I’ve just been off googling the dtd in the tww. I’d never heard that before but it seems it’s common advice to give people who have had ivf. I’m guessing that it is different for us. If not then we’re in for a very boring tww 🙈
Hi @Tilly1403 I totally get what you are saying about it becoming harder. My OH’s sister has just had a baby and his cousin is due soon. We have been trying for 12 months and I find myself comparing - I found the 9 month mark especially tough as I’d been trying for the length of time it would take for the baby to be there. Does that make sense?
Well done @PinkFlamingoGirl I also tried the legs up a few times but Then I thought that putting my legs up wouldn’t make a difference - before I knew it I was basically doing a naked shoulder stand! 😂

Hoping41 · 31/05/2020 13:47

@Seafrontsky that sounds really positive that your masseuse thinks she can do something. Fingers crossed for you 🤞have you tried acupuncture too?

notyetamumbuttrying · 31/05/2020 13:55

Haha yes @PinkFlamingoGirl another myth but can't hurt no 😂 I've done it before and Dh is like what are you doing lol? I'm like oh nothing, just playing with gravity 😝
Oh I try and push to the back of my mind too. I have 9 ppl around me pg too, how funny lol!
@Posy1 ooh no I haven't read that, will promptly start tho lol!
Yes agnus worked for me @Tilly1403 I ovulated two days later. I'm due on on the 12th June so will see if it made any difference or not!? There's a thread on here dedicated to Angus castus so you can read more on there before making your decision.
Yeah you're right @Hoping41 it's an ivf thing so shouldn't apply to any of us here.
When's everyone testing in June then?

Twinkletoes85 · 31/05/2020 14:17

@Posy1 awww terrible twos for you at the moment then 😂 I’m glad you’re finding it a bit easier, I can tell from what people say that no matter how many you have when you want another and it’s taking a while it’s still just as frustrating.

I came off the depo in November but I don’t think I ovulated until February. I’m just at the beginning of the tww now and trying to decide if I should have a gin this evening or not. I’ve been trying not to drink until af shows just in case.

I had a brief go with the Internet cheapies but use clear blue now and found that so much easier with the smiley faces to understand, can’t misread a big grinning face haha

Are you just at the end of the tww?

Posy1 · 31/05/2020 14:19

Just wondering if your OHs are doing anything dietwise etc? My OH is taking Wellman conception and has just agreed to reduce the amount of coffee he drinks to two cups of caffeinated a day, but otherwise have decaf. He usually drinks alot of Coffee! We are also trying to eat more fish, but he's not very fond of vegetables unfortunately.
He had sperm analysis done when we were trying for our first and results were okish, but low morphology. Things could be different 3.5 years later though.

notyetamumbuttrying · 31/05/2020 14:28

About the same @Posy1 but he doesn't drink caffeine anyway luckily. We haven't done a sperm analysis yet and we looked online but was told they were bogus. Was yours through your gp?

Seafrontsky · 31/05/2020 14:39

Thanks everyone for the positive comments. I've actually already given up caffeine a month ago when doing a liver detox. It was HELL for a few days which put me off restarting, also been only really having 2 drinks a month these last few months and that's ok ish. It's the sugar really I do love a bit of chocolate in the evening!

@Hoping41 yes bit of an acupuncture fan been going for about 9 months. Shes fixed a load of problems with numbness from my previous csection and my cycle is so much more balanced. Also warmed me up about 0.3 degrees as I'm a cold beast generally!

Zero DTD in TWW would result in a sad face from my DH! I always thought that was an old wives tales. I have been using the cup after DTD to keep all the swimmers in though so let's see!

Good luck everyone in peak BD days. Just coming into mine and it requires some stamina! TWW folks- hang in there and stay positive. You've done all you can. Happy sunday everyone 💪🧡

notyetamumbuttrying · 31/05/2020 14:42

Thanks @Seafrontsky enjoy all your baby dancing! Smile

Posy1 · 31/05/2020 14:44

@Twinkletoes85, yes expecting AF today, but could be tomorrow at this stage. If it is, it means I will have a 28 day cycle which is so unusual for me.
I used to avoid alcohol, but just try to reduce it during 2WW now.... From what I have read a glass or two a week shouldn't impact conception, but I know some people would rather not risk it, especially after day 9 when implantation is possible. Personally I'd have the gin tonight though. 😁
@notyetamumbuttrying. Yes, through GP when we were trying for our first. I have heard that they dont show DNA damage alright, so they dont give all the answers.
GP told us that the results were fine, even though morphology was a little low. Just one healthy sperm is needed though. 🤞

Hoping41 · 31/05/2020 14:45

@notyetamumbuttrying my oh went to his go for his sperm test. He was to go again but it all closed for Co I’d so I must get on to him again about it! The dr said they needed 2 tests from him as well as my day 3 and day 21 blood tests before we could be sent to the fertility clinic. I only had to wait 6 months because of my age.

notyetamumbuttrying · 31/05/2020 15:03

Yes that's true @Posy1! Hopefully it happens again for you soon then!
@Hoping41 so from what I can remember with chatting to my gp is that we're entered into a fertility clinic from the off once it's been 12 months and they do all the testing and keep us as part of this clinic until we conceive or go down the ivf route. 3 more months and we can go, but hoping it doesn't get to that!
