Hello Ladies.

I’m mid 30s ttc my first. I was on the depo before, I know that causes issues to fertility and it will take longer. It was three months before my periods came back but I’ve been regular as clockwork since. Fairly certain I’m ovulating (lot of signs pointing to it) but still no baby. Im due again in the next couple of days and I can tell I’m going to come on.

I tried with my ex a few years ago for 7/8 months (although it was a very half hearted and not really a surprise it didn’t happen.) I wanted a baby for different reasons back then and got very upset every month. I was determined not to get as upset and try be more relaxed with my new partner but I’m starting to find it hard.

How do you cope with the disappointment of another failed cycle?

@DSC1 thanks yes I'm trying to sat positive but it's good to know others have not felt anything and were pregnant as it just shows again how different everyone is

@KK251289 so sorry af has shown up. Give yourself time to be sad but dont give up. I know how hard it is I've also been ttc since October but it's not time to give up. I read a quote this morning when I was lying in bed scrolling instagram and I think we might have been talking about similar here a few pages back but it was trust the timing of your life. And that's what we have to do!

Holidaywindowshopperaddict · 30/05/2020 10:44

Thank you for the positivity everyone.

@KK251289 I am currently 12DPO negative test though. So sorry yours came today. I'm sure I have felt mine coming on.

I think I need to up my shagging game tbh! I haven't wanted to put too much pressure on partner or make it seem so clinical but he was really supportive when I got upset this month knowing we hadn't done it enough. But I will feel able to be a bit more pushy now over ovulation week.

@jessmcg it is booked! I can cancel WHEN
I get pregnant ☺️
It is in Matlock, has an open fire and next to a quaint little pub

PinkFlamingoGirl · 30/05/2020 11:11

Hi @hoping41 and welcome! It's nice to be part of a group where you can actually say how you feel, ask questions and talk about it all because we keep so much of this in. Not alone at all

@KK... I'm so sorry AF came. I know there's not really any words that can make your feel better but just know that we care and understand your feelings. Take time for yourself today and do whatever the heck you feel like doing ♥️♥️ xxx

Missgoldilocks · 30/05/2020 11:42

@KK251289 so sorry af came hunnie ❤️❤️🤗 it's bloody awful and there's nothing I can say to make it better... I think I'll be joining you tomorrow also 😭😭😩

Twinkletoes85 · 30/05/2020 11:43

@KK251289 I’m so sorry af has arrived.

Have a day where you have a good cry and a good wallow in it all. It really helps to get it all out. I totally understand how you feel ready to just give up right now.

But it will happen! It wasn’t your month but next month might be. I’m sure we’ll read your success story soon 😊 big hugs xx

Thanks for the support guys, it means a lot.
@kk251289 I'm sorry af has arrived. TV really has a lot to answer for for making this look easy!
@Holidaywindowshopperaddict I know exactly what you mean. I've tried carrying on as normal so as not to stress OH, I've tried mentioning it's am important week and I'm now at the stage of just saying that we will be doing it on the following days. The stress of missed opportunities was too much otherwise. Although telling him when seems to create other stresses as he feels the need to perform. It's this a common feeling?

Fifol · 30/05/2020 12:57

@Hoping41 I had to stop telling hubby when the most important days were it was too much pressure for him. Stopped telling him and it worked much better!

CurbsideProphet · 30/05/2020 15:21

@KK251289 AF is just starting for me too 💐 this was cycle 7 for me. I hope you're ok. It's crap for me, so I imagine it's similar for you.
As an aside, I've been to therapy and EMDR for anxiety. I know that if I went to an appointment now and told her that I know I'll never have a baby, she would tell me to try and move the energy and effort I'm spending on that worry to something in the present moment that I can control. Easier said than done, obviously 💐

DSC1 · 30/05/2020 15:31

@Hoping41 I find most cycles I tell hubby when my FW has begun and always say when my most fertile 2 days are as I found the pressure too much otherwise and hated having to be the one to have to initiate. Having said this though DTD does lose its spark. It’s all just so hard to know what’s best when you have been trying for a long time. I suppose whatever makes you feel most comfortable is always going to be the right thing.

Twinkletoes85 · 30/05/2020 15:53

@Hoping41 yep really common feeling I think. I try keep it light but tell my boyfriend when it’s fertile week. It helped a bit this month when we had the conversation about how I appreciate he feels like a sperm bank and that it’s not much fun for me either having to dtd on demand.

I think he thought I enjoyed it 😂 but it does become a chore and the passion dies. I understand now why people don’t bother after the babies born for a while!

Hi all, so sorry that I’ve been silent on the thread a bit today. I’m still feeling really wiped out and I know it means that AF is on its way. Still 6 days out but I think I must be really sensitive to progesterone or something because I’ve been a bit nauseous, really bloated, crampy and just generally insanely irritable. My poor OH has been lovely but I feel for him! These cramps so far out from AF are new though - maybe had them the last two or three months max. Does anyone else get them this far out?
Sending baby dust to you all & love to those whose AFs have arrived or are about to arrive xxx

Hoping41 · 30/05/2020 17:17

I'm glad others are having the same issue. If I doubt tell him, it always seems to be the week he's really tired 🙈 then once it's over, he's raring to go. I'll maybe try the calm approach next month. . .
@jessmcg I've been feeling the same the last couple of months. I was on the pill for years before ttc - pretty much constantly from 18-40 and when I stopped I was going to acupuncture for a few issues and mentioned ttc. I've never had any pain issues up until lockdown so either the acupuncture was working a treat or too much time is making me hyper aware. You never know though, this could be your lucky month.

notyetamumbuttrying · 30/05/2020 17:58

I get them that that far out @jessmcg and it messes with my head every time as I always think it means I'm pregnant and then I'm not 🙁 hope it means something else for you tho!!
Welcome @Hoping41 this is a lovely group so you're in good company here 😌

jessmcg · 30/05/2020 18:53

@Hoping41 @notyetamumbuttrying The body can be cruel sometimes! They seem to have stopped now but they’re the same as usual, so I’m 90% sure I’m out this month. Wish AF would hurry up and arrive if she’s going to as I’m keen to crack on and move onto next month now...

Seafrontsky · 30/05/2020 18:54

@KK251289 @CurbsideProphet sorry to hear AF has shown. Nothing I can say to make it any better but I hope you are both ok.

I'm CD 9 and in the most positive part of my cycle (sorry please tell me to shut up if I'm too annoying). Today I had my fertility hormones results back and a virtual session with my fertility masseuse. I have a massive list of supplements but interestingly my thyroid levels (TSH) are too high to conceive and this may be why I'm still here cycle 21. I'm 2.75 which is within the normal range but recent medical findings say over 2 you dont conceive. My fertility lady is really happy as this means a reason and we can work with it. Going to try naturally through diet etc first but means zero caffeine and sugar on top of alcohol (eek!)

jaxs23 · 31/05/2020 00:31

@seafrontsky that is good news. It's something that you can fix/adjust to conceive. Crossing my fingers for you

jessmcg · 31/05/2020 07:53

@Seafrontsky that is really encouraging news. You’ve got something to work with! Would you recommend fertility massage?

Posy1 · 31/05/2020 09:30

Hi everyone,

I just joined Mumsnet yesterday, hope it's ok to join this forum.
About to start cycle #7. My temp fell this morn, so I know AF is on the way.
I generally have short follicular phase, but ovulated on day 13 this month, so was really hopeful. ☹️
Hope to see some BFPs for us all soon. Xx

notyetamumbuttrying · 31/05/2020 09:53

Hi @Posy1 I have short follicular phases too, usually ovulating on day 10! I tried Angus castus this month and it pushed it to day 12 so I highly recommend! And welcome to the thread Thanks

PinkFlamingoGirl · 31/05/2020 10:03

Morning everyone,

@seafrontsky that's positive news if that could be the reason. I've never tried it but I've heard going without sugar and caffeine is really rough in the first days to a week and then everyone reports about how wonderful they feel!

Hi @posy1 and welcome. I'm sorry you think AF is coming. I don't temp (I have tried but end up falling away from it after a couple of days). Are you seeing a clear pattern?

I'm CD 14 and just got my positive opk. This is earlier than normal. Although I still don't think I know what normal is because my ov day has varied from cycle to cycle but usually is around day 17-18-19 when I've had a positive opk.

xx

Posy1 · 31/05/2020 10:15

@notyetamumbuttrying thank you for the Agnus cactus tip, I must look into that. Will try anything, although I'm already taking quite a few supplements. 🙈 Have you had any other recent cycles with ov on or longer than day 12? How long have you been trying?

@PinkFlamingoGirl I think I'm a bit of a control freak so at the moment im trying everything...😂. Not sure if it's making me more stressed or not though. I do see a pattern, so I know I'm ovulating at least.
Hope you have fun DTD tonight. Do you try every day when you get a peak or every second day?

Looking forward to getting to know you all. X

Twinkletoes85 · 31/05/2020 10:19

Morning ladies

Welcome @posy1 are you trying for your first? Do you use opks too or just temping?

@Seafrontsky that is positive and hopefully explains a lot. Good luck with adjusting your diet and I hope you see a change. Like @PinkFlamingoGirl I’ve heard that once you get over the initial withdrawal (lack of a better word) you feel loads better for having cut out the caffeine and sugar.

PinkFlamingoGirl · 31/05/2020 10:27

@posy1 I think it's the only thing I'm NOT doing lol. Quite right though, there's nothing wrong with doing everything you can to get the timing right. We have been DTD every day since Thursday and will continue to today, tomorrow and Tuesday just to cover all basis lol. Then I'll maybe relax to every other day or other stuff during the the TWW. I don't want my hubby to think I'm only interested in him during the fertile week lol (even though I'd happily leave it out for a couple of weeks 😂). We have been pretty active of every day to every other day since AF goes away in all my cycles. So I guess it hasn't made a difference...yet lol!

I have heard sex during the TWW can reduce your chances of conception...is this a myth? Is it too much to be like nope, no sex now for two weeks just in case??

I'm using conceive plus this cycle. I have used it the past two nights DTD and will today, tomorrow and the next.

notyetamumbuttrying · 31/05/2020 10:29

@Posy1 yeah same! You only need to take that first day of period up until you get a positive on an opk. What else are you taking? I'm on coQ10, vita dha and folic acid! Nope day 12 is my longest as I have short cycles. Between 24-26 days so it'll be day 10 on a 24 day cycle and day 12 on a 26. Luteal phase is always 14 days thank god, so the right amount of time for a successful implantation. Been trying for 9 months now and never had a bfp in my life! (Not that I ever wanted one before!)
Af is due 12th June so will prob test day before just to torture myself 🤪

notyetamumbuttrying · 31/05/2020 10:31

Just a myth I think @PinkFlamingoGirl! There's so many out there isn't there. How long u been ttc again? And is this for your first?
