Hello Ladies.

I’m mid 30s ttc my first. I was on the depo before, I know that causes issues to fertility and it will take longer. It was three months before my periods came back but I’ve been regular as clockwork since. Fairly certain I’m ovulating (lot of signs pointing to it) but still no baby. Im due again in the next couple of days and I can tell I’m going to come on.

I tried with my ex a few years ago for 7/8 months (although it was a very half hearted and not really a surprise it didn’t happen.) I wanted a baby for different reasons back then and got very upset every month. I was determined not to get as upset and try be more relaxed with my new partner but I’m starting to find it hard.

How do you cope with the disappointment of another failed cycle?

@notyetamumbuttrying I bet you're getting fed up! We are cycle 21 but at least all my friends and family are past babies. I do have a good friend due in a few weeks but it took her 2 years to conceive so I'm really happy for her. We already have two DD so I have plenty to keep me busy. I fell really easy with both (didn't know how good I had it) so this has been very different. On a good day I'm finding it interesting and DH is loving all the BD as he felt he'd barely had a chance to limber up last 2 times 🤣. Everything has been checked for both of us so who knows why it's taking so long. It can be very frustrating but I had a difficult csection with my last so I've been working hard on fixing that and getting my body strong. I'm also booked for a colposcopy but that's not happening right now!

Am cd7 and had spotting today which is unusual for me. I've been doing castor oil packs to try to deal with any issues from my csection so maybe its that.

notyetamumbuttrying · 28/05/2020 13:08

I really am @Seafrontsky but the 12 month mark is keeping me going as I know docs will see us then. Must be frustrating for you too when you fell so easily with your other 2. Hopefully it happens soon for you! Thanks

Missgoldilocks · 28/05/2020 13:12

@Twinkletoes85 it only takes one go! So don't count yourself out yet x

@jessmcg I'm glad you are looking after yourself more :) that will help with trying to concieve also x

Seafrontsky · 28/05/2020 14:14

@notyetamumbuttrying yes it helps to feel like you're being proactive and exploring all the reasons why it isn't happening. I will say traditional medicine has been useful but it's very black and white for them. If everything's ok then its straight to IVF which is probably where we'd draw the line. I've found acupuncture and a fertility massage person so interesting and helpful and seen real differences to my cycles, health and generally feeling like I'm in (a bit more) control. Its definitely a good goal at 12 months to get checked out though.

PinkFlamingoGirl · 28/05/2020 14:42

Afternoon ladies! I'm only really getting on about once a day to check messages just now because I'm snowed under with work but I'm reading everyone's posts and keeping up with all your journeys.

Sorry ladies who think AF is enroute, it's such a heart sinking feeling. Let's hope your wrong, you never know.

I'm 11dpo and apparently going into my 5 day fertile window (according to my app). I feel like I'm still learning loads about my cycle and when I look back carefully at it all I think I missed my f/w in December, I had a 40 day cycle from Jan to Feb, then my cycles have been between 27-32 days since so I don't think I'm full back to regular yet from coming off the pill last October. The last two months I got my positive opk on CD18 and the previous one CD 15 so it's still varying. I'm testing away and checking CM but I'm hoping I get my positive earlier.

Anyone still in their FP atm?

notyetamumbuttrying · 28/05/2020 14:54

Acupuncture's interesting @Seafrontsky I wanted to get this done but obvs can't during lockdown. Did you find it helped you then? I'm on all sorts of prenatal vitamins so hope they help too!
Does FP mean fertile period @PinkFlamingoGirl? Cos if so then yes, me. Ov day is today so then it's dreaded tww for me tomorrow! It's good you're using opk's, you'll start to see a decent pattern soon.

Twinkletoes85 · 28/05/2020 15:50

That would be exciting!! @KK251289 @notyetamumbuttrying

It does @Missgoldilocks, my DP asked me today what my stick said so I explained you don’t need to keep taking an opk after static smiley (you can’t on mine anyway for 48 hours) but it never hurts to have one more go anyway 😂

@Seafrontsky is acupuncture supposed to help? I had it for whiplash once and it was fabulous but I didn’t know it could potentially be useful for ttc.

@PinkFlamingoGirl I ov’d yesterday or Tuesday so just coming out of my fertile period

12 dpo here. My stomach does not feel right, though I think that's anxiety now 😬

Seafrontsky · 28/05/2020 18:25

@notyetamumbuttrying @Twinkletoes85 acupuncture has been amazing. I was so sceptical really about it doing anything for TTC but I quite enjoyed the whole thing so kept going! I had loads of numbness around my csection scar which came back and now the scar is barely there. My BBT chart was all over the place when I started going and now it's a really strong jump right after ovulation. My temp was also too low and that has risen about 0.3degrees overall. Also my luteal phase was too short and now 14/15 days. Basically I was a mess and now feel so much more fertile. Still not prego though but would def go back! The fertility masseuse is amazing too and specialises in long term TTC. Right away she was problem solving and we discovered my recurring thrush was probably causing problems, she realigned my womb and has me doing castor oil packs to break down any scarring and on loads of vitamins and prebiotics and I feel so different. My periods are now really red and healthy looking and the thrush has completely gone. Again still not prego but she says I wouldn't have been able to before and now I can. I feel I'm getting closer!

KK251289 · 28/05/2020 19:34

@Seafrontsky that sounds really positive, I've always liked the thought of acupuncture so might give it a go.

Still no AF yet but I bet it's one of those cruel tricks where she wont come today now I'll sit up all night getting my hopes up, then she'll show tomorrow. So not only will I be miserable because AF is here but emotional because I havnt slept!

notyetamumbuttrying · 28/05/2020 19:46

Wow how amazing @Seafrontsky will defo look into both when those services are open again. Thanks for sharing Smile

Twinkletoes85 · 28/05/2020 20:24

@Seafrontsky that sounds fantastic, I was sceptical when I went for my whiplash but I hobbled in to the session and walked normally back out. Once we can go back I will definitely look into that and the fertility massage! Thank you for all that. It sounds really positive and even if you aren’t pregnant yet it sounds like you’re in a really good place for it to happen

@PinkFlamingoGirl I am in my FW - have had 3 days of flashing smileys but according to app I’m not supposed to ovulate until Sunday... have a feeling it will be a day or so earlier.

@Seafrontsky that’s really interesting to read about acupuncture. I had made enquiries just before lockdown so you have definitely made me want to follow up once things reopen. Anything that makes you feel more positive is definitely great to do.

Seafrontsky · 28/05/2020 21:44

Oh @KK251289 I'm hoping for you it holds off for you.

I can definitely recommend it all, and it has definitely felt like I'm being proactive rather than just getting frustrated!

PinkFlamingoGirl · 29/05/2020 07:49

@DSC1 according to my app im supposed to ov on Tuesday... so we will roughly be around the same time.

I did an opk this morning but it was negative however my cervix is high, couldn't find it when I checked! Anyone know anything about cervix checking lol? Does it stay high for a few days on the lead up to ovulation ?

I'll keep checking using the opks just to see if I can catch it as I think it will happen before tues. As for cm...I never get a lot of it anyways! Don't know.

Twinkletoes85 · 29/05/2020 08:14

@PinkFlamingoGirl I tried to check my cervix last month, turns out I have no idea where it is apart from up there! I know from my last smear it’s not too far up as she was worried about not seeing it with the small speculum but it apparently popped into view.

I read about it feeling like your nose or like your lips depending on where in your cycle you are 🤷🏼‍♀️

That reminds me of another thing, I’ve always had to have the smallest speculum and my mum said when she had me they almost didn’t let her give birth naturally as they thought all the bits were too small. It never occurred to me it was possible to be too small to give birth as a grown woman. Has anyone heard of this?

KK251289 · 29/05/2020 09:56

@twinkletoes85 same I have no clue Grin I've never heard of that but it makes so much sense thinking about it. I've always had the same going for smear tests. I wonder if it makes a impact on trying to get pregnant as well

Twinkletoes85 · 29/05/2020 10:15

@KK251289 I’ve learnt to tell them to use the small one now rather than let them try with the medium one first ha she didn’t believe me last time but then was like oh actually you’re right!

I don’t think it does, we were already trying when I went for my last one and so had to do a pregnancy test before they could do it so we were having a chat. she never mentioned it being an issue. It took my mum about 9 months to catch, annoyingly she was one of those who decided sod it got plastered at new year and that’s when she fell on 😂

jessmcg · 29/05/2020 10:58

Hi all. Happy Friday to all of you! 😀
Just reading the above conversation. I don’t think it makes a difference although I have heard of it. I spoke to a family friend of mine the other day though who is a gynae and she said something that can mean you take a little longer to catch can be if you have a tilted cervix. Lots of GPs will say not to worry about it, but apparently if you have one (I do), it can just take a few more goes than your average for the sperm to hit at the right angle and make it through. So there you go! She recommended that instead of putting a pillow under your bum after DTD for 20 mins that you do 10 mins with the pillow under you and then 10 mins lying on your stomach with the pillow under your pelvis.

Twinkletoes85 · 29/05/2020 11:40

@jessmcg oh that’s interesting! I’ve not heard of that before, I presume if you have a tilted cervix it would be noticed during a smear?

Does it make a difference lying on a pillow for a bit after? I wasn’t sure if that was just an old wives tale?

OP posts:
jessmcg · 29/05/2020 11:52

@Twinkletoes85 You’re right, it would have probably be spotted during a smear! About 40% if the population have it, but for some it’s super tilted (me included). So, the legs up thing is a wives rule I believe, but it can help if you’ve got a tilt!

Missgoldilocks · 29/05/2020 12:04

Hey ladies how is everyone? So regarding cervical position everyone is different, I know mines low until the day of ovulation and then it's high only for one day then comes back down. I also have a tilted uterus but everyone is different and everyone's cervix will do different things at different times, so you have to check it all the time to see a difference.

So 12dpo for me, cd27 and I have pink spotting. Now I know its af coming early but just the fact that I've never started af on cd27 or had a 12 day luteal phase is giving me a stupid glimmer of hope. For the past 11 months I've been 28/29/30 day cycles. Anyway I guess there is a first for everything, it's just so bloody annoying that your body starts to do different things to throw you off!!

jessmcg · 29/05/2020 13:08

Everyone, I’ve had the weirdest thing happen and it better not be my body playing tricks on me. Loads of excess saliva and mini waves of nausea? Anyone had this in their cycles before? I’m only 7DPO so I’m choosing not to let this get my hopes up and wanted to check with everyone. Also had heart palpitations today. Thought it was work stress but I’ve met my deadline now and still feel very weird xx

Missgoldilocks · 29/05/2020 13:19

@jessmcg I don't know! Symptoms can be misleading so I really try not to read into them, unless your boobs feel hugely sore and you're being sick in the morning lol it just saves a bit of heart ache xx
Fingers crossed its good news for you!

Fifol · 29/05/2020 14:43

@jessmcg I have excess saliva too. But I have noticed it before. If it's new for you you never know though. I'm really trying not to symptom spot this time I'm 9dpo
