Hello Ladies.

I’m mid 30s ttc my first. I was on the depo before, I know that causes issues to fertility and it will take longer. It was three months before my periods came back but I’ve been regular as clockwork since. Fairly certain I’m ovulating (lot of signs pointing to it) but still no baby. Im due again in the next couple of days and I can tell I’m going to come on.

I tried with my ex a few years ago for 7/8 months (although it was a very half hearted and not really a surprise it didn’t happen.) I wanted a baby for different reasons back then and got very upset every month. I was determined not to get as upset and try be more relaxed with my new partner but I’m starting to find it hard.

How do you cope with the disappointment of another failed cycle?

I got my first flashing smiley this morning! Is that normal on cd8? 9 feel it’s too early!!

Oh this thread always loads comments after I’ve posted, welcome @kas90 and @EttasEden.

Good luck on testing, it’s nerve wracking choosing the right time! Hopefully this is your month 😊

What is oligozoospermia if you don’t mind me asking?

I know what you mean there’s pregnancies everywhere you look right now. We’ll all be joining them soon enough

Hi everyone!

I’m also TTC and it’s been really helpful reading everyone’s posts as it’s nice to know you’re not alone Smile
We’ve been trying for two months so not long I know but got a BFN this morning so feeling slightly disheartened! I’ve been tracking ovulation with OPKs and made sure we timed everything “perfectly” so i was hopeful that it might happen this month and have been foolishly convincing myself that sore boobs etc was a sign! 🤦‍♀️

A08x · 21/05/2020 09:40

@notyetamumbuttrying Me too I was using OPKs but some months we’ll DTD every 1-2 days instead of tracking in an attempt to make it ‘less stressful’. I feel the exact same, I don’t want to temp as I think it will make me even more conscious of it all if that makes sense, when I’m trying to stay as chilled as possible ha! I seen your other posts about hoping to start tests, I feel this way too, I hope it’s not long before GP’s begin this sort of thing again!

@twinkletoes85 @pinkflamingo I had read on a few websites that pomegranate juice encourages blood flow to the uterus & helps the lining to be healthier for implantation (if conception occurs) but now that I’m cramping / spotting already I stupidly googled it again & a load of articles came up about pomegranate juice being used to induce an early period 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️😂 trial & error I suppose!!

I am taking folic acid (been taking for a year now), vitamin C and vitamin D, and my husband is taking folic, vit C, vit D, zinc & omega tablets 😳 Sounds a bit excessive but when we hit the 1 year of having unprotected sex we thought we should maybe try some different things just Incase.

That’s a great idea having some time off! Just enjoy it as a holiday type week ☺️ is your husband off too? Good luck for this month!! X

@kas90 good luck, hopefully AF doesn’t show & this is your month!

@ettaseden omg yes!! There is definitely a baby boom this year, every day on social media I’m seeing pregnancy announcements! So frustrating to see.

Also had a friend with a toddler make a joke in our group chat about how mums deserve a queue jump at the pub when it opens as us ladies who don’t have kids don’t appreciate how lucky we are 🙄 Just one of the many “I have kids and you don’t” comments that have been made during lockdown! I know they don’t mean it maliciously and don’t know we’re TTC but it just feels like salt in the wound 😂

EttasEden · 21/05/2020 10:17

Good morning everyone! I am so glad to be part of this thread! Oligozoospermia is a sperm count/concentration less than the normal is15million or over per whatever they measure it in. DH is 9million due to an illness years ago. Means our likelyhood of conceiving every month whilst SMEP is about 6% instead of 20-25% 😢 really hard to remain positive and we aren't already on the IVF stage as we had recently found out before Covid hit. My AF is absolutely horrendous this month, my ovulation pains were awful as well and normally I don't feel them. I've been on agnus cactus, tbh I've spent a fortune taking lots of different supplements over the last year to help us conceive, along with DH. I am finding since Lockdown, women seem to have been divided in to those with DC and those without. It does hurt when I hear people moaning and I think you're so lucky! I think my friends and family have twigged something fertility wise may not be right with us, so we no longer get asked 'so when are you two having kids?' I don't know what's worse 😩 I love the positivity of this thread, so I will try and not bring it down 😜 sorry for the morning moan! I don't drink alcohol, smoke etc. I have 2 teas every morning and I make sure I have my 5 a day, I take folic acid, COQ10, iron and ashwagandha. Occasionally pop a vitamin C in to the mix as well.

I've read not to wear heels as it knocks eggs out, but I don't wear them anyway.

Lovely virtually meeting you all x

EttasEden · 21/05/2020 10:20

Sorry I can't tag you all, I'm pretty rubbish with this website. Also would recommend Ovusense, if you can afford it. I kept just getting flashing smiley faces for months but never a static, whereas I've ovulated every month and on day 14 with ovusense.

Twinkletoes85 · 21/05/2020 10:37

@ettaseden I’ve been looking at ovusense and I’m 90% sure I’m going to get one if this month isn’t the one. I’ve got a flashing smiley earlier than expected so I don’t know if we’ve maybe been aiming for the wrong time.

My boyfriend mentioned in passing he might have a lower sperm count (he had a medical years ago) and that’s played in my mind about how it might affect our chances. But it’s not been long enough for us to start any sort of tests to be sure.

It’s positive for you that even though the chances are lower there’s still a chance of it happening without having to go via ivf.

I’ve said it before but you never realise just how much is actually involved in getting pregnant And what a minefield it can be until you start to try. It’s great having a group of people who are in the same boat to chat to about it all

OP posts:
Fifol · 21/05/2020 13:31

@Twinkletoes85 I think that is normal to get the flashing. Just means you might have a few extra days flashing like this time I think I had 6 and then static, one time I had 4, one random time i had 20!! I've been using it 4 times and out of those I've had between 4 and 8 flashers. I think it's useful if your cycles aren't regular for me anyway as I'd be afraid I'd miss it if I started testing too late

Twinkletoes85 · 21/05/2020 14:05

@fifol thank you! I worked out it should be 4-6 days when I ov so it threw me a bit getting a flashing already. I thought it would be a couple of days before. 20 is a lot!! Bet that confused you!

I’m really intrigued to find out if the signs I’ve been looking for the last few months are right or not.

OP posts:
Fifol · 21/05/2020 15:16

@Twinkletoes85 I have learnt to time ovulation with ewcm and the last couple of times have matched with my smileys! It would be interesting if I wasn't so impatient 😂

we dtd every night in the lead up to ov so really keeping fingers crossed!

Twinkletoes85 · 21/05/2020 15:24

@fifol that’s all I’ve been doing so far so I’m interested to see if it will match up! It’s nice to have a physical thing to show the bf too saying look it’s happening rather than a circle on an app that may or may not be correct.

Fingers crossed for you for this month! Positive thinking 😊

OP posts:
EttasEden · 21/05/2020 16:27

@twinkletoes85 it really is a minefield, although I feel like I know a lot more than I did last year, which can only be a good thing.
A sperm sample test you can ask for straight away especially if he had a medical a while back and it mentioned it. Anything none private takes 4-6weeks minimum, so I would (when things settle) push for that if you can. Yes 6% is better than 0, just wish we had known a bit earlier as I was putting it off the past two years expecting to get pregnant straight away.

Twinkletoes85 · 21/05/2020 16:37

@ettaseden I agree it’s positive to know more and have a better understanding of it all

That’s useful to know thank you 😊

It’s a hard decision isn’t it when to intentionally have a baby. We aren’t quite in the position my bf would like us to be financially but my age is a big factor for us to start trying now.

Hi @ValliBec sorry I’ve only just seen your comment. It’s so hard not to symptom spot in the tww. Especially with not knowing what you’re expecting! Hopefully it’s third month lucky for you 😊 try not to be too disheartened

Ergh, just chatting on a friend group chat and I mentioned I had a prosecco in the garden today and my pregnant friend said she was “so jealous”. I know she means nothing by it but I’m just like “fooook off!”

Sorry I just needed to chime in and let that off my chest 🙈

PinkFlamingoGirl · 21/05/2020 18:03

Aww I know. I feel like I am sooo 💯 more sensitive to comments like that. Clearly they are just trying to be nice but it stings.

What is ovusense? I have heard of it but not actually sure what it is?

See the clear blue ov stick, do you pee on them too like you do with the ICs? Then the monitor reads it for you rather than trying to work out if your line is dark enough?

Hey hey to everyone who's joined! Such a busy thread. Loving reading everyone's comments after work today

Missgoldilocks · 21/05/2020 18:20

@Twinkletoes85 I can understand about the financial part, my partner is better off than I am. And he is saying he would rather be more financially free... Ummm haha we've been trying for 10 months now? Can't stop the wheels now mate!!

@EttasEden hey! Sorry to hear about your issue, actually my sister just got the same news, her partner has a 8 million count so they are going for ivf now. She lives abroad though and will be going privately so she's hoping to get it started in a few weeks. Bless her it's about time though, she's older and they have been trying for 2 years. At least you have now found out.. But obviously doesn't make it any easier x

Missgoldilocks · 21/05/2020 18:21

Yes to being sensitive comments! I actually can't stand it especially the "just relax" no just fuck off OK 😂

Twinkletoes85 · 21/05/2020 18:21

@Nat4392 oh I know how you feel it’s silly but so irritating!

@PinkFlamingoGirl ovusense is a sensor that goes inside you while you sleep and measures temperature, as far as I can tell it’s closest to a love egg 🤦🏼‍♀️ for lack of a better description. An app reads the sensor on a morning and it gives you a more accurate reading of when you ov. You have to pay for a monthly subscription but it’s rolling so after first two months you aren’t tied in (unless you choose a longer option). It’s supposed to be 99% accurate I think. Reviews are mostly good, the bad ones seem to be customer service related when there’s an issue with the monitor.

Yes the clear blue stick is like a pregnancy test then you put it in the reader (photo) and after 5 mins it gives you a result so blank circle, flashing smiley or static smiley depending on where you are in the cycle.

Sorry I keep sending messages but can I just add! My friend found out I was trying to concieve and boasted she forgot her pill for one day and fell from that. BITCH. I don't really talk to her now!!

Georgie31 · 21/05/2020 18:44

Same! 31 and trying for our first. It's nearly hit the 12 month mark now. Myself and my fiancé have decided to give ourselves a little break from ovulation tests and all that jazz.

notyetamumbuttrying · 21/05/2020 18:47

@Missgoldilocks doesn't sound like a friend you'll miss then, how insensitive!
So my cousins just had her baby and my auntie posted on our family group with a pic and he's so cute but I got a pang of jealousy and a little bit of sadness that it's not me! It'll be my sister in August, as she's pregnant with her second. They're both younger than me and I have none. I never wanted to start a family young so I'm glad I waited but Christ if I realised I'd be one of the ones that takes month and months I would have started before my wedding! Hate not knowing when it'll happen. (If it happens at all!)

EttasEden · 21/05/2020 19:55

@Twinkletoes85 so for 3 years we have been talking about this now, with me saying no I want a bigger house first, so I don't have to move with a baby. We got the bigger house last year and now no baby and unlikely naturally anyway. A baby takes nearly a year till he/she is physically here anyway, so lots can change in that time. Even people I honestly would never picture with kids, now have babies/toddlers. The only person who knows is my mum and his dad, so it's hard 😢

@Missgoldilocks thank you for your message, I've not known or heard of anyone else going through this. If female fertility issues is treated as a taboo (it isn't) then male is unheard of! It's so ridiculous. I was looking at IUI rather than IVF and the success rate is like 14% I mean who would even pay for that? IVF is 47% for my age group, either way both are better than the natural approach. Wishing your cousin all the luck 🤞

Ovusense is good as you literally wear it in your cycle the day after your period until a day or two after you ovulate (annoyingly it tells you, you have ovulated, after you have ovulated - so if you aren't like clockwork it can be hard to establish a pattern) but you should start to see something emerging the more cycles you use it. So dtd every other from 8-16, with 13,14,15 everyday. Tbh my flow app is pretty in sync with my ovusense app, but good for peace of mind, to know you actually ovulate :)

ValliBec · 21/05/2020 20:28

@Missgoldilocks - I agree, your friend sounds pretty insensitive. Why would she feel that need to say that to you?! Hmm I’m not surprised she’s not top of your friendship list any more!! 😀
@ettasEden Could you confide in a friend? My best friend struggled to fall pregnant naturally - they eventually fell pregnant with their first round of Ivf (yay!) but she opened up to me about how she was feeling and I think it helped her not to keep it completely to herself. Though I guess that’s what we are all here for! X

ValliBec · 21/05/2020 20:30

@Twinkletoes85 I looked up Ovusense after I saw you guys post about it. Love egg was the first thing that sprang to my mind too when I saw a picture of it 😂

Missgoldilocks · 21/05/2020 22:45

@EttasEden it's my sister not my cousin haha 😂 but yeah she said the same iui is a low chance so you might as well do ivf!

@ValliBec @notyetamumbuttrying agreed!
