Hello Ladies.

I’m mid 30s ttc my first. I was on the depo before, I know that causes issues to fertility and it will take longer. It was three months before my periods came back but I’ve been regular as clockwork since. Fairly certain I’m ovulating (lot of signs pointing to it) but still no baby. Im due again in the next couple of days and I can tell I’m going to come on.

I tried with my ex a few years ago for 7/8 months (although it was a very half hearted and not really a surprise it didn’t happen.) I wanted a baby for different reasons back then and got very upset every month. I was determined not to get as upset and try be more relaxed with my new partner but I’m starting to find it hard.

How do you cope with the disappointment of another failed cycle?

Hello @Twinkletoes85 yes trying for my first. You are trying for first too aren’t you? Thankyou I was feeling pretty positive about this month, been taking vitamins, drank a glass of pomegranate juice every day up to ovulation, cut out caffeine & alcohol and been trying to get my 5 a day lol! Been getting mild cramps the last couple of days so a bit worried AF is gonna come sooner than expected. Not sure if the pomegranate juice is going to have had some effect on my cycle?? 😂 where abouts are you in your cycle? X

@notyetamumbuttrying @giraffelover90 Awww snap! Nice to know we all understand how each other is feeling 💗 I’m gonna test on Friday, I know it’s too early as I’ll only be about 9-10dpo but I’m working 12 hr shifts from sat-tues, I’m a bit odd and find seeing the negative test helps me accept it a bit rather than being in work & AF springing on me and turning into an emotional mess lol! Do you use OPKs or temp or anything? X

notyetamumbuttrying · 20/05/2020 16:04

@A08x it's good you've found what works for you! Good luck for Friday! I use opk's, was tempted to start temping but I'm gonna hold off a while longer as I feel it will turn me even more obsessed then I already am lol! What methods do you do?

notyetamumbuttrying · 20/05/2020 16:07

@Giraffelover90 whereabouts are you in your cycle? Let's hope we'll all bring each other good luck! @A08x Smile

Twinkletoes85 · 20/05/2020 16:25

@A08x you’ve been really good this month! Not sure if the pomegranate juice will help but it can’t hurt. I’m trying to cut down on caffeine but I can’t do without a cup of tea on a morning 😂 what vitamins are you taking?

Yes trying for my first, I’m day 10 so just started with the opks this morning. I’ve booked some time off work next week in the hope I’ll be less stressed on my peak days 😂

Hey everyone! I read the thread up to about page 5,it was really really nice to just feel like I'm not alone in this all! I've been Ttc for officially 10 months, I'm currently 3dpo! I'm trying for number 2, number 1 was nearly 9 years ago now!
I didn't think it would take so long and to be honest I just don't feel like it is going to happen.. My partner has been checked and next step is for me to get my tubes checked but obviously with the current circumstances I can't.

I'd really love to join you ladies on this crazy journey so we can support each other! Please get back to me with a little about you, how long you've been trying and where you are in your cycle :)

I do everything, exercise eat healthy I take a shit loads of vitamins and have from the start lol I have a 28 day cycle and I ovulate religiously on cd15. We have dtd every single month at the correct time and still nothing! It gets sooooo disheartening honestly

notyetamumbuttrying · 20/05/2020 17:57

Hey @Missgoldilocks welcome to the thread! I'm 34 Dh is 37,been trying 9 months in June (9th cycle as short cycles). I'm cd4 now so period will end tomorrow and will be in my fw on Friday. We're trying for our first so feeling extremely disheartened now! I know it can take up to a year but you never expect that to be you. How old are you and your partner? Hoping you'll catch soon as sounds like you're doing everything right!

Missgoldilocks · 20/05/2020 18:28

@notyetamumbuttrying hey! Thank you for your message. I just turned 28 and my partner will be 32 soon! Yeah it's unreal, you never think it will take so long and if it does you think there's an issue which makes you feel worse!
How are you finding the tracking part of things? All doctors say to me is relax and stop stressing it will happen! Buw how can I? Its all I think about lol

Do you take vitamins too?

notyetamumbuttrying · 20/05/2020 18:40

Exactly that @Missgoldilocks
Yeah they say the same to me too! And it's all I think about too lol! Yeah so I take agnus castus as of 10 days ago to help with pms and to try and lengthen my cycles (usually 24 days) and I was taking pregnacare but have swapped onto vita dhd as of yesterday. Will also start on folic acid and coq10 (for egg quality) when they arrive on Friday! You?

PinkFlamingoGirl · 20/05/2020 18:50

Hi ladies,

Hope you are all well. I'm on CD3 and AF is starting to slow off. I have been OV around CD 16 so quite a wee bit to go before it's game time ha ha.
Will prob start using ov test strips next week.

Still feeling in a positive mindset. I've been reading lots about that and I'm going to believe in my body. I know it can do this and it will happen when the time is right. I'm trying to eliminate any negative thoughts and try to focus on the when and not the if. I'm feeling really positive about this cycle.

I have never heard of pomegranate juice to help conception, I learn something new on here every day!

Fifol · 20/05/2020 18:58

@PinkFlamingoGirl I read a book about the power of positive affirmations and I'm also making a big effort to visualise and be really positive!

justjen87 · 20/05/2020 19:12

@Missgoldilocks Welcome!

Totally agree with you on the thought it may never happen even though I know it’s normal for it to take up to a year. Each month I feel like it gets to me more.

Can I ask as you are only 28 & trying for less than a year how comes have your doctor will start doing tests? I’d go now if I could 🙈 What tests are the doctors planning to do?

Both myself & my DH are 33. We are trying for our first. I’ve been off the pill for 9 months, started TTC end of December. I’m on my 6th cycle. I’m currently 6DPO. Cycles are usually 28 days, give or take day.

I use Clear blue ovulation kit, take pregnance care & my DH takes well man conception. Have 1 cup of decaf coffee a day and don’t drink at all. This cycle we used pre-seed each time & also varied the times of day we DTD.

I’ve resisted charting my temperature as worried that will stress me out even more.

I’m feeling positive this time because it is the 6th month mark and we have done a few things different this month. Although we could just carry on as usual and it could happen any time. Feel a bit lost with all at times.

notyetamumbuttrying · 20/05/2020 19:40

@Fifol and @PinkFlamingoGirl I'm going to try this too! No harm is there and hopefully I'll start feeling better about it all. Rang the docs today to see if they'd start me on blood tests but still too early for my gp. They won't touch us until it's been 12 months even though I'm 34.
@justjen87 similar to me jen in not wanting to temp yet. I know it'll just add to my already obsessed/stressed brain lol! Who knew ttc was gonna be such a mind fuck!? Confused

Twinkletoes85 · 20/05/2020 19:58

Hi @Missgoldilocks welcome 😊 I’m 34 and my bf is 28 and we’re trying for the first. I’ve been off the depo since November but it took a couple of months for my periods to come back. I’m cd 7 so my fw should be next week.

A couple of pages ago one lady gave a really good analogy of how it’s like trying to get a bullseye on darts but you only try once a month with three darts. She worded it really well and it helped with seeing why it can take longer than expected really.
Doesn’t make it less disheartening though.

Hi @Missgoldilocks , I think we might have been on a thread before?

I'm 34, DH same. Cycle 11 and 3DPO today. This is a nice group :), It's so frustrating that it's seeming to take forever isn't it, I didn't expect to fall in the first month or so but getting onto a year is soul destroying. Hope your tests go well and that everything is okay :). How long did it take u to conceive DC1 ?

notyetamumbuttrying · 20/05/2020 21:35

@Twinkletoes85 and @MrsMeow2019 34 crew! I turned 34 in March, Pisces ♓️ thought I'd be knocked up by now for sure tho 😫😂

MrsMeow2019 · 20/05/2020 21:43

@notyetamumbuttrying it's nice to be in a group of people who have similar ages! I'm really starting to feel old in the TTC game! I'm 35 at the end of the year which is putting some additional pressure on !

Fifol · 20/05/2020 21:43

@notyetamumbuttrying I'm a Pisces gal too! Turned 31 in March. Husband is almost 28! Jeez even writing that he sounds so young lol

Today is my ov day woohoo

Missgoldilocks · 20/05/2020 22:11

@notyetamumbuttrying I've heard great things about agnus castus for lengthening the luteal phase also isoflavones? I think it's called I can't remember what it helps for but a lady I knew who had a short luteal phase said it helped, maybe look it up :)
I take the works lol but I also take something called dong quai up till ovulation as its said to help with blood stimulation around the womb.

@justjen87 no worries! Thank you for the welcome 😁 basically I went to her in March when it had been a year I was off contraception, I have been tracking 10 months if that makes sense. Well she'll send me to get my tubes checked because I told her some past history that could affect them thus why I'm worried about it all...

@Twinkletoes85 hi! Thank you for the welcome :) yes it is disheartening! But luckily when you have a few good threads with a few lovely ladies it really really helps to get through it all! X

@MrsMeow2019 hi and thank you for the welcome :) I hope you get some luck soon also, statistically speaking you're close!
Well with DC1 its a weird story. I thought I couldn't get pregnant because I was in a relationship for 4 years and never fell, only sometimes using contraception. Then one day bam I just fell, I was super shocked lol. So I do actually try to remind myself that at first it took a long time! I just hope it doesn't take that long again! I also fell straight away after that, that's why I thought it might happen quickly again... Meh. You know its funny, back then I was young, I didn't have much and I wasn't exactly healthy and now I have health, wealth and a good home it's taking a long time. Yes actually I'm starting to think I came to this thread before? Or maybe it was a bus thread who knows! 😂

notyetamumbuttrying · 20/05/2020 22:22

@MrsMeow2019 crap this ageing malarkey right! Hopefully 2020 is your year then!!
@Fifol hello fellow Piscian! Enjoy that young husband of yours, mines 37 and acts like he's 57 sometimes lol!
@Missgoldilocks hey! So my luteal phase is fine (14 days) it's my follicular phase that's short, as I ovulate day 10. Ive heard that means immature eggs which are hard to fertilise and implant but then loads of girls on here have said they still conceived fine so starting to feel less worried now! Will keep taking it for pms though as the pain was a bit more tolerable this time, hope it helps my mood swings and irritability next! Doubt it's that much of a wonder drug tho lol!

Missgoldilocks · 21/05/2020 00:52

@notyetamumbuttrying oh OK! I've not come across that yet but glad you got advise on it. Yeah I get such bad pms basically days before I'm due I'm like OK I haven't conceived and the witch is coming! The dong quai I have found helped me last cycle I'm hoping for the same this cycle!

kas90 · 21/05/2020 00:54

Hi ladies. been ttc for about 6 months now just using an app to calculate possible fertile days. should have gotten my period yesterday but im too scared to test and get a negative:// been cramping some and a lot more lower back pain than usual

EttasEden · 21/05/2020 01:02

Hi there been ttc for a year now and got AF yesterday. DH has mild oligozoospermia, I'm regular as clockwork ovulate day 14, 28 cycle... We both have appointments pending. I'm 30 he's 32, everyone and their cats nan seems to be pregnant atm, which isn't helping not thinking about getting pregnant!

PinkFlamingoGirl · 21/05/2020 07:46

Hi @ettaseden

I hear you on that one. Literally everyone I know is pg or announcing. It's a boom. I'm keeping on the positivity wagon and saying that it will be exciting when it's our turn to join that boom.

Good luck @fifol the craziness of the TWW starts for you again. I can't wait to get to FW and for mine to start again. AF has dried up so I'm hoping maybe I'll ov sooner this month. My AF is still a bit variable. Damn that contraceptive pill.

Giraffelover90 · 21/05/2020 08:06

@notyetamumbuttrying I’m CD 18 today, had another flashing smiley today so that’s my sixth. Does anyone know if that’s normal? I know it bases it on highlighting 4 high fertile days. This is my first month of using the clearblue connected tests so it’s all new.

Hi and welcome @Missgoldilocks.

Yes, everyone I know is either pregnant, announcing pregnancy or just recently had a baby. It’s so hard to feel so happy for them even when you are isn’t it. Let’s hope that all of our times come soon!

notyetamumbuttrying · 21/05/2020 08:18

@Missgoldilocks the dong quai? Not heard of that before! I'll have a google later.
@EttasEden and @PinkFlamingoGirl same with everyone pregnant around you! My sister is due her second in August (a surprise pg as she was on the pill!!), my best mate due in nov and two work colleagues and my neighbour and her mate, the list goes on and on lol!
@Giraffelover90 sorry I don't know. I use CB but the one that detects two most fertile days so it goes straight to static, no flashing at all.
