Hello Ladies.

I’m mid 30s ttc my first. I was on the depo before, I know that causes issues to fertility and it will take longer. It was three months before my periods came back but I’ve been regular as clockwork since. Fairly certain I’m ovulating (lot of signs pointing to it) but still no baby. Im due again in the next couple of days and I can tell I’m going to come on.

I tried with my ex a few years ago for 7/8 months (although it was a very half hearted and not really a surprise it didn’t happen.) I wanted a baby for different reasons back then and got very upset every month. I was determined not to get as upset and try be more relaxed with my new partner but I’m starting to find it hard.

How do you cope with the disappointment of another failed cycle?

@Twinkletoes85 Try not to worry, I'm sure it'll be okay and you might find OPKs help reassure you. With the CB digital ones (similar to the CB monitor I use) I tend to get a few days with a blank circle, then several 'highs'/flashy smileys before I get the solid smiley.

Twinkletoes85 · 19/05/2020 16:41

@Fifol @mummyofzog thank you, I’ve read the booklet but it’s good to know it’s normal to get blanks.

Hope you ladies have had a good day 😊

Hi again everyone (I always need a break from MN for a few days when AF arrives) 🙋🏻‍♀️
AF has been very unusual this month, started Saturday evening and I’ve pretty much had nothing now for a full day, AF normally lasts a week for me and it’s barely been 2 days this month, I’ve taken Agnus Castus this month, does anyone know if this can effect the length of AF?
Hope everyone is well 😊

Giraffelover90 · 19/05/2020 19:27

Hi 👋🏻
Please could I join. I’m ttc #1. Been trying since September 2019. Came off the pill in June 2019. Finding I still don’t have extremely regular cycles with them varying between 26 and 35 days but I have had 2 cycles since November that have been 53 and 62 days!!
We have just started to use the CB digital connected ovulation tests and currently on CD 16 and had 4 flashing smileys so far.
I’ve really enjoyed reading through your comments in this thread and felt I could relate to a lot. It would be lovely to join this journey with you all Smile

justjen87 · 19/05/2020 20:26

@Nat4392 sorry to hear it wasn’t your month. Hope you are ok! I’ve never tried Angus castus but have read it can have an effect.

@Giraffelover90 Welcome! Do you know why your cycles vary in length? Have they always been like that? How do you manage to keep calm? I’m trying not to stress but I’m on my 6th month and literally obsessed!

I’m also using the CB ovulation sticks too, found them much easier than the cheapy ones from amazon!

Fifol · 19/05/2020 20:28

Hi @giraffelover90 welcome! My cycles have varied a lot too but the last 2 seem to have settled around 30 to 33 days, I got static smiley today cd 17. Here's hoping for this month Smile

Giraffelover90 · 19/05/2020 20:29

@MrsMeow2019 I’ve also just read that you are a GP, I don’t know if you’ll know the answer but I thought it was worth asking incase, I’m not overweight but trying to lose a little bit of weight as I have put a fair bit on since lockdown with bad eating habits and eating the wrong foods, I’ve got changed my habits back and trying to be healthier but struggling to shift the weight so I was going to try substituting 1 meal a day with a meal replacement bar. Do you know if this is safe to do when trying to conceive?

Giraffelover90 · 19/05/2020 20:38

Hi @justjen87, no I have no idea why they are varying so much! I was supposed to be going for tests at the doctors in April but then all had changed because of the pandemic! I do find myself going out of my mind when its a long month and test an awful lot haha! The past 2 cycles have been 26 and 28 days though so I’m hoping I am becoming a little more regular (fingers crossed!)

I am finding each month so difficult though because we have been trying for a while. Let’s hope we all soon get our BFPs Smile

notyetamumbuttrying · 19/05/2020 20:39

Hi @Nat4392 I'm taking agnus for the first time too and noticed my period is different. I'm day 3 and the flow has slowed loads when it wouldn't usually until day 4. Let's hope that's a good thing?!

MrsMeow2019 · 19/05/2020 21:09

@Giraffelover90 hi, love the clear blue ovulation sticks too, they’re so clear and involve no squinting in lines 😊

I think you’d be fine to do that with your diet as long as your still getting plenty of fruit and veg. Only issue with those kind of diets is the weight goes back on when you revert to normal, I’ve done it so many times 😆 I call it my Diet Coke and miller yogurt diet 😆.

justjen87 · 19/05/2020 21:13

@Giraffelover90 sorry to hear your tests have been pushed back. Here’s hoping you can get them done soon! I have read that normal services are starting to run again so hopefully you won’t have too long to wait.

I don’t wish the stress and worry of this on anyone but in a weird way it’s comforting to know there are others in the same boat. Plus it nice to know my feelings are normal! Hope you get your BFP soon too!

Twinkletoes85 · 19/05/2020 21:27

@Giraffelover90 hi and welcome!

Wow those two long cycles must have driven you mad, I’m glad it looks likes your becoming more regular now 😊 the clear blue sticks sound so good for giving a better idea of when you ov!

@Nat4392 and @notyetamumbuttrying that’s interesting about your periods with agnus. From what I’ve read it does seem to have an effect on a lot of cycle related things

OP posts:
Nat4392 · 19/05/2020 21:44

@notyetamumbuttrying I can’t see it being a bad thing so not going to complain! I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt and trying it again this month. Only half dose though as I’m too worried about seriously messing up my cycle too much, all I want to do is increase my LP! 🙈

notyetamumbuttrying · 19/05/2020 21:52

@Nat4392 are you going to take them throughout your cycle? I was thinking of stopping when I got to ovulation and starting again if I feel my period coming. Let's hope they both help us do we want! I am enjoying having a lighter period tho, wearing a pad on day 3 is so weird for me. That's normally a day 5 thing.

Nat4392 · 19/05/2020 23:16

@notyetamumbuttrying just up until ovulation, that’s what I did last month. Another user I was chatting to only took them up until ov and got pregnant so I’m sticking with that. I may try it for longer though if I have no success. Tbh I don’t have heavy periods usually anyway, they just last ages (like 7 days) and what I have now is like day 7 type flow so I’m pretty happy!

Girlinglasses · 19/05/2020 23:30

@Twinkletoes85 I really relate to this- i came off the pill (after 16 years) in December 2018 and started trying in Jan 2019- got pregnant in Feb but had a really early miscarriage in March. It was devastating but thought "at least I know I'm fertile". Lots of people told me you are even more fertile after miscarriage- periods were regular by April and started trying again but month after month and nada. I can fully understand the difficulty of the symptom spotting, and then yet another period- it feels so soul destroying. I was tracking my temp and using an app to check ovulation etc (NaturalCycles) and the hardest was when I got my period on the same day that would have been my due date (Oct 31st), 10 months after starting to try, and 7 cycles post miscarriage.

That was my last period; I'm now due in the summer! I did nothing different that month, I have no real explanation as to why it suddenly took- it seems so random that for 7 months I was timing everything in the same way and then suddenly, cycle 8 was the one but there you go- it just happened. Stay positive and remember that even though it REALLY doesn't feel like it, it is medically completely normal for it to take up to a year. My friend compared it to trying to throw a bullseye with a dart (assuming you aren't a darts genius) - if someone said that they had been trying for a year to get a bullseye you'd think it was ages, but if they then told you that they only put the dart board up once a month and only had 3 darts to throw each time then it wouldn't actually seem that bonkers 🤪 so just keep throwing your dart 🎯❤️

notyetamumbuttrying · 19/05/2020 23:38

@Nat4392 sounds good! Let's hope they shorten your period too. Mines 5 days but I do always get brown spotting on day 6 which is annoying as that's the start of my fertile week! (Short cycles) let's see if I still get it. I'm impressed that this has affected my cycle already though! Really hope it's a wonder drug lol and we get out bfp's!!

justjen87 · 20/05/2020 06:56

@Girlinglasses thank you so much for adding your messages. Just woke up & that’s the first thing I have read. You given me a new sense of positivity. Thank you! x

Fifol · 20/05/2020 08:44

@Girlinglasses thats a beautiful story, congrats on your pregnancy! It's so true all we can do is keep going and trust that our time is coming. The darts analogy is so true and when you put it like that it totally makes sense! I also love hearing when ladies haven't done anything different and it just happens, it gives me faith that I'm doing everything I can and it just takes time!

Twinkletoes85 · 20/05/2020 08:57

@Girlinglasses I’m sorry about your mc but thrilled to hear you’re expecting soon!

My boyfriend plays a lot of darts and that’s a great way of putting it! Thank you for sharing that, it really helps to hear positive stories 😊

@Girlinglasses just read your post. How inspiring! Thank you for sharing and such a great analogy. Will be telling my husband that one today. All the best in your pregnancy :)

A08x · 20/05/2020 14:35

Hello could I join this thread please? Been off contraception for a year but only actively started TTC since sept so I’m on cycle 9. Due AF in a week & so nervous about testing this month!

@Girlinglasses I’m so sorry about your miscarriage! But congrats on your pregnancy, what a lovely story & way to put it ❤️

Twinkletoes85 · 20/05/2020 14:59

@A08x hi and welcome 😊 are you trying for your first?

Fingers crossed this will be your month!!

Hi @A08x same as me! Been trying since sept and now on cycle 9. I'm still on my period at mo so will be in fertile week next week. When will you test?

Giraffelover90 · 20/05/2020 15:06

Hey @A08x and @notyetamumbuttrying I’m the same as you both too. Been off the pill a year next month and been actively trying since September :)
