Hi girls! I know we wanted to start a thread for the ones who didn't get their BFP this month.

@Skyla01 @Mrsrobinson247 @SarahMS I know you wanted to join.

Anyone else welcome to join us on our conception journey and looking to test around 2nd week in December.

TTC #1 (2nd pregnancy)
Cycle #2
AF due around 9th September

This is my 1st month using OPKs - anyone got any advice on when to start testing?

Hello Ladies can I join? I like @MrsHav will be testing in third week but I cant see another December bus so will jump in with you all if thats ok.
My stats:
TTC #1
Cycle no 5/6
Had a MMC in July after 12 week scan found a 6 week baby. Been trying ever since but August was out as I was seriously ill!
Age 29, DH 32
Would aboslutely LOVE an Xmas BFP but trying to keep the pressure off myself a bit more these days. It will come when it comes.
Good Luck to everyone!!

Quiffy · 27/11/2019 14:22

Hi @TunnocksTCake - love the name, are you Scottish too?

We're TTC #1 and similar ages (I'm 30 and DH 33). Know what you mean about an Xmas baby and pressure. I put so much pressure on us earlier in the year as I had this great fantasy of a scan photo under the tree for Christmas day. It would be amazing to get that BFP in time for Christmas but trying not to get hopes up.

Sorry about your MMC, that must have been heartbreaking

TunnocksTcake · 27/11/2019 14:37

Hi @Quiffy :) No not scottish actually haha I just LOVE Tunnocks Tea cakes!! A little bit addicted, I have to get DH to hide them from me!

Thank you, it was really hard and I know January will be horrible if we are still ttc as I would have been due then. Way to make a generally rubbish month even worse, eh?! I have been really good the last 2 months at not fixating on every little thing in the 2ww, especially since my mc my cycles have gone into overdrive and I get sooo many symptoms its unreal so I have to just ignore them!

How long have you been trying?
xx

Quiffy · 27/11/2019 15:05

Well you really can't beat a good Tunnocks teacake! Now I really want one ahaha.

Glad you're getting through it - and Jan will be awful but at least you're doing everything to get your BFP. Hopefully with so many symptoms it will be a nice surprise without looking too closely at everything.

We're on our official cycle 3 atm. I wanted to start in March 19 and he wanted to wait until Jan 20 so we compromised at October. I stopped taking the pill in August so I could get the plumbing back in order for October and told him he'd need to sort his own baby blockers. So we ended up with a practice run in September after he realised how un-fun condoms were again haha. Now he's worse than me looking for symptoms and checking tests.

MotherofKitties · 27/11/2019 16:22

I'm so confused.

When I was TTC for my LO I had a solid 35 day cycle. I came off the pill last month, got the solid smiley face on the clear blue ovulation kit on day 19/20 so did the deed, I'm on day 28 so decided to take an early pregnancy test because you never know, and I'm shocked to see I'm bleeding, over a week before my period is due.

Test is a negative, and I'm feeling disappointed and confused as to why my period has arrived a week early, it didn't happen when I was TTC first time round. Has this happened with anyone else before? Second time round cycle has dramatically shortened? Even if my cycle has shortened though I still 100% ovulated on day 19/20 (test and pains confirmed I was!) so ovulating then would be late for a 28 day cycle, wouldn't it?

Quiffy · 27/11/2019 16:28

@MotherofKitties I can't say on second time around. However I'm usually around 32 days. Last month I ovulated (according to tests) on 7th and had a light period just 7 days later on 14th. I thought AF was going to be 21st Nov. I had my hopes up that it was implantation but BFN and now ovulating today/tomorrow. Super weird for me. I think our bodies can just have off months - it might head back to your regular in a few cycles time perhaps?

Katie1109 · 27/11/2019 16:33

Hello, miss confused here again x can someone tell me why my LH is building back up? Peak yesterday, low this morning and back up to high now? x

Testing 2nd Week December
MotherofKitties · 27/11/2019 16:38

Thanks @Quiffy

I've been feeling a bit nervous about TTC No.2 as I conceived straight away with my LO which came as a huge shock as I have endometriosis and spent all of my 20s worrying about whether I'd be able to have a baby or not, so when it happened so quickly I half wondered if she was my little miracle one-off.

Now that I've ovulated and by the looks of things it hasn't worked, the test is a negative and my period has arrived a week before I was expecting it I'm feeling really deflated and I'm starting to feel the whole 'maybe my LO was a one-off' paranoia kick in...

I know I'm being ridiculous. This was only cycle 1 so I know I'm being daft, I was just really taken aback and disappointed when I saw my period x

Beau2019 · 27/11/2019 16:52

@Sunflower2019 YES I had this last month, felt like I wet myself! It was almost like a bit of a gush the day I ovulated!

@Quiffy omg hahahaa. At least your OH dries himself! Mine gets out of the shower, walks around the whole house soaking wet and then gets his towel about 5 mins later. And then to add insult to injury wipes the bathroom mirror with WET HANDS to wipe all the steam away. It's so annoying and an OCD who hates window streaks nightmare. @SarahMS I feel ya...

On the note of your OPK @SarahMS I'd say that was pretty positive! Looking at that I'd say ovulation will happen in the next 24-48 hours but I am no expert...

So I've just convinced myself (1DPO) I'm out this month because I only DTD on the first solid smiley day and didn't do it the day after. What is wrong with me 😂 someone please tel me it's still possible

@Beau2019 this link should help put your mind at rest - uk.clearblue.com/sites/default/files/spd_libera_brochure_row_v4-web.pdf

There's a chart for "Estimated likelihood of conception from intercourse on days of the menstrual cycle relative to the day of ovulation" which says that there is 31% chance of falling pregnant if you have sex the day before you ovulate (i.e. when you get your LH surge/peak) it increases to 33% if you have sex on the day you ovulate but that's not a massive increase. Best to aim for the days before ovulation and don't stress too much about after.

@MotherofKitties Your body will take some time to settle after coming off the pill so try not to expect too much of yourself. I was also lucky to fall pregnant first month of trying with number 1. We're 6 cycles in trying with number 2 and I thought it would be as easy as it was first time around. I had implantation bleeding first time and each time AF has arrived there's been a small part of me that thinks it could just be implantation bleeding again. It's so disheartening but you're not alone in how you're feeling x

MotherofKitties · 27/11/2019 19:55

@Fredthespider Thanks for sharing, it's good to know there's others out there in the same boat. Cramping has just kicked in so I'm pretty sure it's not implantation bleeding. Ah well. As DH says at least I know I've ovulated so just need to get my cycle back in order and start again...! x

Quiffy · 27/11/2019 19:58

@MotherofKitties TTC is an emotional time. Try not to be too disappointed - it's super hard though so it's great to have a forum like this to vent your feelings with people that understand. It will happen soon

Sunflower2019 · 27/11/2019 20:18

@Beau2019 I’ve read other people saying they dtd once the whole month and was the first time they’d fallen pregnant!!! It’s definitely very possible! I haven’t even got a solid smiley so I’m hoping it’s not like last month and my opks take forever to peak 😣

Made hunters chicken tonight and watched home alone which was quite nice, haven’t got work now till Friday night so I’ll prob be obsessing 😂

Xxxx

FirsttimeTTC · 27/11/2019 20:29

I wonder if anyone can help me please! I have no idea where I am in my cycle because I had the coil taken out last Friday.. I think I have just finished AF (It felt and looked like AF not withdrawal) today, which would mean I am cd5.. I thought I would buy CB OPKs to try and work out if it was AF and where in my cycle I am, and obviously to tell me when I’m ovulating..

Is the first ever CB OPK a blank circle all of the time? Because it’s working out my average levels to then identify when it increases and then reaches peak?
Sorry this is hard to understand haha I’m just a bit confused! X

Beau2019 · 27/11/2019 20:36

@FirsttimeTTC you should start CB digi about a week before predicted ovulation. So if your cycle is 26 days the. You start CD7 I think? First few days will be blanks, maybe even longer than a week. It's tests 2 hormones so you start to get flashing smileys when it detects that. You're not meant to start using CB too early as it won't detect your surge

Beau2019 · 27/11/2019 20:38

@Fredthespider oh thank you so much for this! We did it 2 days and day before so think (hope) we are covered!

Anyone else in the TWW yet? I actually think I'll be gutted if it's a BFN this month. Even though I'm only really on 3rd month trying

OP posts:
Fredthespider · 27/11/2019 20:51

@Beau2019 glad I could help! I'm also joining you in the TWW as I got my peak this morning. We managed to DTD yesterday and today so exactly the same as you. I've suggested to OH that we could go again tomorrow but I suspect he may object as he'll be tired.

Symptomspotter86 · 27/11/2019 20:55

Another flashing smiley today - 3rd day in s row and CD15. Normally 28 day cycle so hoping to get a static tomorrow. I'm worried OH will buckle under pressure by doing it on demand as last night he couldn't and we DTD this morning instead. This is only month 1 so I can see how this affects the men too! All being well I should be testing on December 11th.

Beau2019 · 27/11/2019 20:55

@Fredthespider 'he may object because he will be tried' - I just love this. My OH turned me down the other night because he was too busy searching for a new internet deal. Romance is dead eh?! 😂😂 I mean that's fine but spend your time on uswitch when I'm not fertile yeah?

OP posts:
Beau2019 · 27/11/2019 20:57

@Symptomspotter86 have you been testing twice a day since you got your flashing smileys?

OP posts:
MrsA2019 · 27/11/2019 21:07

@Beau2019 yep in the TWW now. Think slightly ahead of most on here but AF due 3rd dec according to my app. That would make my cycle 30 days (which it unexpectedly was last month too...normally a consistent 28 days). If I'm back to 28 days it would make me due on the 1st. Feeling very 'periody' today though so I don't know. My app is saying to do a test in 2 days but I'm scared it's too early and scared of it being negative!
Had no ovulation pains this month and no implantation bleeding. Sometimes got sore boobs but only if I poke them lol and a bit emotional last 2 days, unusual for me pre AF but I guess anything is possible, we've really tried hard this month lol
I'm trying not to get my hopes up and determined not to be sad over Xmas if it's not our month! Xx

Symptomspotter86 · 27/11/2019 21:32

@beau2019 yes I have been doing morning and evening the last 3 days. Still flashing! I feel like I'm going to start seeing that flashing smiley in my sleep! Maybe I should get some IC as wont be able to keep doing the CB ones every month due to the expense! I'm also tempted to start tracking temp next month again. I have the natural cycles app that I used when we were trying to prevent pregnancy, anyone else use it?

Quiffy · 27/11/2019 22:16

@Fredthespider @Beau2019 I’m glad other partners are like this too! My DH has just got home and has given me a horrified look at the thought of DTD and is away to get a sugar hit haha. Uswitch when you’re not fertile killed me 😂😂
