Hello!

So after breastfeeding for 10months and not having a period since beau fell pregnant with my first baby (11.5months old) my period finally came back 16th Aug...11months after my daughter was born.
We had been trying for baby number 2 for a while but honestly it was so hard not knowing where I stood re ovulation and period. So I couldn't properly get into the swing of it lol.
Since my period returned, I have kept tracked using the ovia app, and we gave it a good jolly go all of last week when it said I should be ovulating (poor hubby didn't know what hit him hahahahah)!
I'm not expecting to be one of those lucky few (you know the ones who fall preg the first time!) but, thought it'd be nice to have some support from women going through the same journeys.

Ps, i don't know what all the abbreviations are in other threads I've seen so I may need help!

@charlie0692 welcome!
It's so hard to keep a grounded mind when TTC. Pregnancy symptoms and pre menstrual symptoms are so similar too! I hadnt had a period since before I had my daughter (who will be 1yr next week). I breastfed up until she was 10months and got my first period the second to last week last month. So I'm hoping things are back to normal and we won't have any more delays lol!
We aren't in any particular rush so trying to keep calm and of the mind set "it'll happen when it happens" but I'm reality I'm impatient and don't want to wait lol!

@whambam89 yes that's right, I can test in 8 days, so the 12/13th?

Do you have dreams usually? Did you have mad dreams during your first pregnancy?
I dream occasionally, but recently they have been going crazy!

whambam89 · 05/09/2019 08:27

@vialarooski I'm similar, I have the occasional dream (which is usually weird and a bit far fetched 😂) but it seems to be happening every night at the moment. As much as it would be lovely for it to happen the first month of trying, it'll probably work out better for social events etc if it happens next month instead! We have a big wedding and a holiday with family within the next 4 weeks which will be very hard to hide if I'm not drinking... bad planning on my part 🤦‍♀️

charlie0692 · 05/09/2019 08:36

It's awful trying not to get your Hope's up isn't it! I am wishing the weeks away until I can start testing ha. Trying to be more laid back this month and not to think about it as much. I'm going to try and DTD every couple of days and just see what happens for the next few months before I start looking into it more and doing things like temping or ovulation testing. How are you all feeling? X

whambam89 · 05/09/2019 08:43

@vialarooski I have also just realised another symptom I have which was one of my first symptoms last time... a high heart rate. I've just linked it with the fact I've been feeling really anxious the last couple of days - I remember first time round my resting heart rate was over 100 constantly according to my Fitbit and I felt like my heart was pumping out of my chest. Might charge it up and have a little comparison!

whambam89 · 05/09/2019 08:46

@charlie0692 we are in no rush so I'm trying to be relaxed about it but now I've just realised that my anxiety over the last couple of days may actually be an increase in heart rate I'm feeling more optimistic that it could have happened the first month trying - just over a week until test date for me which I'm hoping will fly by!

Can I join? Also TTC #2, he is 10 months old.

Trying again as I’m nearly 38 and time doesn’t feel like it’s on my side. Also babies are cute!

For a few reasons I’m not sure if I’m ovulating, so that’s annoying. My cycles are irregular but average 35 days so each time is a long old wait! I hope we timed sex well this month but it’s hard to say as ovulation predictor kits didn’t come up with anything at all (not that they worked last time I got pregnant either, think I drink too much water?) so I timed it based on cervical mucous. Period due mid September roughly.

Good luck to all!

Sprintfinish · 05/09/2019 10:58

I've been pretty tired this week, had vivid dreams a few nights ago and a little bloated, but no nausea. At least with a little one I'm busy and distracted from the symptom spotting as it drives me mad!!

Have you told friends and family that you're trying for #2? We're keeping quiet for now.

Sprintfinish · 05/09/2019 11:00

Oh and already concerned about cutting back on coffee, I love my morning coffees while baby naps!

DulcetMoans · 05/09/2019 11:31

Can I sneak in please?

We have been thinking about trying for a while and this month we have decided to just see how it goes. Number one is four now, starting school. Bigger age gap than most here it seems! He took two years and two MCs to get so it hasn't been an easy decision to try again.

I was pretty laid back about it this time, partly because I am still unsure. That lasted a week. So far I have pissed on three different types of sticks and struggling to not think about it already!

So, I am here to have somewhere to talk about it! haha.

charlie0692 · 05/09/2019 11:35

Hey @sprintfinish. We haven't mentioned anything to family yet, although they are always commenting "it's time you had another one isn't it?" and it drives me insane! X

Sprintfinish · 05/09/2019 12:04

**So far I have pissed on three different types of sticks and struggling to not think about it already!

Grin Ah so funny, I really do hate the not knowing!!

After a tough birth I declared DC would be an only, but that has worn off! I think people will be surprised we're planning on having another at all, never mind so soon.

Vialarooski · 05/09/2019 12:42

@DulcetMoans pissed on a stick also made me LOL. Definitely welcome to talk away to us, we are all in the same boat.

@whambam89 should I have fingers crossed or uncrossed for you? I can totally see why you would rather the social events pass before BFP but also, would be pretty awesome if you are one of the almighty lucky few that falls preggo first time! Your test date is the 14th, is that right?

We haven't mentioned that we are trying again quite as seriously as we are if that makes sense. However my brother and his wife (SIL) have just learned they are pregnant so the focus is on them at the moment. Would be amazing if we had babies at the same time ❤️

OP posts:
whambam89 · 05/09/2019 13:30

@sprintfinish we haven't told anyone that we're trying, I feel like it puts more pressure on you if you know what I mean!

whambam89 · 05/09/2019 13:34

@vialarooski I think our thoughts were that we wouldn't fall pregnant first cycle so it was fine to start trying, but if we do then we will obviously be over the moon! Test date is officially the 14th, but we are away then and I don't know if I'm optimistic enough to take a test with me! But I'm also not sure if I will be able to hold out until the 20th if AF doesn't turn up 🙈

Eleanor1984 · 05/09/2019 13:35

So after a manic few days back at work, which helpfully did take my mind off things! I'm back at it spotting symptoms!
Can't sleep keeping tossing and turning, this happened first time too, I put it down to being back at work but it hasn't settled! Really hungry, just want to eat everything in sight! At this rate I'll end up fat! It's going to be a long 3 weeks, going to try not to test until the 23rd. If I can hold out that long 😂
Good luck everyone fingers crossed

whambam89 · 05/09/2019 13:38

@dulcetmoans I can see why it would be a big decision for you to make!

It's so easy to say you'll have a laid back approach but saying it and doing it are definitely 2 different things hahaha.. last time I logged my ovulation etc using the flo app but didn't tell my OH so it wasn't so much a "we need to DTD right now" 😂 this time round, we're both tired 99% of the time so we've been a bit more conscious about making sure we DTD during the fertility window, not sure if it'll take longer because of this though as I feel like it's a bit more planned if you know what I mean?

whambam89 · 05/09/2019 13:48

@eleanor1984 it's sounding promising for you as well, I've got my fingers crossed for you!

DulcetMoans · 05/09/2019 14:36

@whambam89 I have started that way now. I have an app to track cycle and not telling him anything butttt we did happen to dtd either side of what I think was ovulation this time. So that's a good start! Give it a couple months and I am sure I will get to the regimented timings! haha.

@Eleanor1984 do you remember if you had similar feelings before?

When is everyone due to be testing? Do you all seriously wait until due date? Very disciplined!

whambam89 · 05/09/2019 14:54

@dulcetmoans AF is due the 14th so if I'm optimistic enough to pack a test then I'll test then but if not I'll wait until the 20th when I'm home if there's still no sign! I'm half tempted to test before we go but as we're going with family and I wouldn't want to tell them straight away if it was BFP then it'll kind of stop us from being able to enjoy it by ourselves for a bit first!

Eleanor1984 · 05/09/2019 15:18

@dulcetmoans @whambam89
Fingers crossed.
I probably won't be disciplined in waiting to test as I am way too impatient! 😂 However I will try!

charlie0692 · 05/09/2019 15:23

@eleanor1984 what date will you be testing? Af is due 24th for me so I'm going to try and wait until then but I know what I'm like, I'll want to test earlier ha

DulcetMoans · 05/09/2019 15:35

I think I am due 12th September but it is the first month tracking so not sure what cycles have been post pregnancy. I think I am 8dpo today though.

Delphinidin · 05/09/2019 15:37

Ha ha @DulcetMoans we are trying and have a 3.5 year old. Fairly certain everyone we know thinks we have decided we are only having one as everyone stopped asking us about number 2! With you on the sticks, I’m getting committed!

@charlie0692 looks like we are due testing/AF and ovulation same dates - good luck! My first child is a terrible sleeper so finding the energy to try for number 2 is hard!

Eleanor1984 · 05/09/2019 15:44

@charlie0692 AF is due 16th going to try and hold out till 24th to test we will see if the will power holds out. Only want to wait as AF 10 days late 2 months ago and took 4 tests all negative!
