The Hut of Gl/Doom Part V- for the unapologetically despondent

The new hut. Ta-da!

This one is a snug little basement World War 2 type nightclub, with dim lighting, snug velvet sofas, red walls and certainly no politically correct smoking bans. Occasionally certain selected men may be admitted at our convenience.

Sit down, make yourselves at home, and never, ever apologise for feeling like shit. That's about it.

Oh, and a jazz band playing the blues, despondently on a corner stage.

Just having a look around....
Do I need to look 1940's glam, red lips, pencilled stockings, and marcel waves to come in..?
cigar, anyone? I've always wanted to try one, not sure what alcohol to bring.

duchesse · 01/08/2007 13:04

If you fancy to Kensgirl, but given how dim the lighting is, I think we can easily get away with any kind of attire...

Maybe one day Duchesse, but if I look at myself today you would mistake me for the cleaner, methinks.

latenightowl · 01/08/2007 16:51

good to hear attire is optional in here, cos if I had to wear my pencil skirt, it may split when I sit....
Nice set up Duchesse, just slapped on the lippy and even though its hot got one of those dead foxes drapped over left shoulder to make me look really foxy....hope I dont get kicked out by animal activists.

well peeved off today cos on the am I? arent I? ... day .. before AF - even though Ive been trying for 8 yrs with no BFP EVER why do I think this month will be any different.I think I should be mentally sectioned to have carried on like this - must be some sad way of self harming me feels. So I really need the hut today and plush interior that is dark and sultry suits my mind just fine. what did they drink in the 40s? well Ill have one of them please barman and a packed of pork scratchings for the fox......

mistlethrush · 01/08/2007 16:54

Would Absinthe be appropriate - the old fashioned variety that was even worse for you?

latenightowl · 01/08/2007 17:11

sounds just great, make it a double and one for my pal mistlethrush

mistlethrush · 01/08/2007 17:13

, emoticon, hick!

duchesse · 02/08/2007 08:09

Pink gin anyone? Mai Tai? (been doing a spot of research) hic

OP posts:
lissie · 02/08/2007 11:18

ooooh pink gin for me! lovin' the new place.

well, dh and i are giving ttc a break for a couple of months. my ep edd is looming and i dont want to be worrying/panicking/stressing for it. though i'll probably cave in 2w time... i have no selfcontrol!

mistlethrush · 02/08/2007 11:45

My dh seems to have decided to 'give it a break' since mc last autumn - scare of poss 2nd mp hanging over for 2 - 3 months did it I think - just trying to imagine how on earth it would be possible to cope with ds and feeling that crap... Pity he didn't discuss it with me as I feel clock ticking and time running out.

Think I might swap to some pink gin too. Nothing like mixing the drinks. Is there any room at that table?

duchesse · 02/08/2007 12:10

I think on that on the whole pink gin might be less self-destructive than old fashioned absinthe- that stuff sent you mad didn't it? A bit like the crack cocaine of its day. So plonk yerself down on that velvet settle and get stuck in, Mistle.

Shame your husband didn't think to consult you before... He is probably very scared, and can't see the point of deliberately doing something that might turn out to be painful. Strange creatures at times, men.

My favourite method for turning gin pink - Cassis. Gin takes the edge off the sweetness, exceedingly alchoholic result that is very easy to drink...

That's why suggested Absinthe - dh driving me mad anyway, so why not go the whole hog.

Impatience · 02/08/2007 14:49

oh bring on the Absinthe! Always wanted to try it, and I'm going slowly mad anyway, so might as well have an enjoyable reason!

I have drawn on my stockings especially

lissie · 02/08/2007 17:48

i love absinthe, used to work in a pub that sold it and its lovely with lemonade!

mistlethrush · 02/08/2007 21:00

Dry muscat seems to be doing the trick this evening. Not great for the ttc option, but don't see much of that happening this month anyway, so who cares!

Good for the diet too - use most of my 'points' for alcohol (not doing WW properly, but trying to lose on same basis...)(another thing to get about)

lissie · 02/08/2007 21:32

i know the feeling! i spend 2w waiting to get knocked up, 2w wondering and if i am pg 2w waiting for it to go wrong!

mistlethrush · 02/08/2007 21:58

Slightly different story here.... months waiting, then 2wks for it to go wrong, followed by 2 -3 months complete panic that even worse is to come....

I feel at home here!

lissie · 02/08/2007 22:03

me too!

kensgirl · 03/08/2007 08:26

..and me..

duchesse · 03/08/2007 09:18
