Anyone else right at the start of a new cycle? I could do with some cycle buddies.

I'm 32, cycle 5 and TTC first baby. Regular cycles of 27/28 days.

Feeling bummed today - I really thought this month could be our month after all the DTD! Had my first TTC cry yesterday. Is that pathetic after just 5 months?!

@Marleym28 - I have been not logging a negative test at all, logging the flashing smiley as a negative OPK (so I have a record on the app) and I will log the static smiley as a positive OPK.

I'm on day 4 of the flashing smiley today so hoping I get a static tomorrow!

I tried one month using the cheapy ones and I just couldn't seem to read them and got myself in a massive muddle so have shelled out for the clearblue ones again. TBF one box of sticks tends to last 2-3 months so it's not tooooo bad.

Hi @scottishginlover and welcome to the thread :)

Glad we are going to have a good thread going when the dreaded TWW starts. I've got DH's birthday this weekend - we are having dinner with his family tomorrow night and then a big party on Saturday with all our friends - awful timing as I obviously don't want to drink tooooo much.

Do you guys tend to avoid drinking totally post ovulation?

Wishing56 · 30/05/2019 15:52

@blackfriars I would drink less but still have a few drinks. Sure I read somewhere that wouldn't have any effect on baby until it implants anyway (correct me if i am wrong)

Louise190 · 30/05/2019 17:29

@Skyla01 patient!? What's that?! 😂🙈

Louise190 · 30/05/2019 17:54

Glow has changed my predicted OV to Saturday now that I've just had another negative OPK. I think like I'm chasing the carrot! It was originally supposed to be today! It's also now predicting AF 2 days later giving me a 30 day cycle which is unheard of! This might be the worst TWW of my life! Unless I try to convince myself that I've missed OV completely!? 🤯

Wishing56 · 30/05/2019 19:08

What type of OPKs are you using @louise190?

I am getting confused too. I am using the one step ones and havent got a positive yet. I thought I would have got a positive by now. Tuesday was my darkest line but not get a really dark one yet. I am just going to keep testing until it either gets darker or lighter.

Flo app says ovulation Saturday, whereas Ovia app says fertile week is next week! Not sure which one is correct.

Wishing56 · 30/05/2019 19:12

This is my line progress...

Skyla01 · 30/05/2019 20:34

Lol, patience would sort us all out!
I'm still none the wiser as to my ovulation so who knows if I'm in the TWW or not! Perhaps more likely it's late and might happen next week (when I'm away from OH :( )
I've cut back on alcohol to 1 or 2 units a night (but not drinking every night...!). Not stopping completely as I enjoy a wee drink and who knows how long this will take! Been trying to cut caffeine too but reluctant to give up coffee entirely. I've read that caffeine can impair ttc a lot but not sure whether to believe it all.

Roo3125 · 30/05/2019 20:37

@Wishing56 I would assume that since it's getting lighter, you probably peaked on Tuesday evening and ovulated on Wednesday morning.

Louise190 · 30/05/2019 21:00

@Wishing56 I am using the one step ones also. What cycle day are you? My darkest was Monday (CD11) and they've been getting lighter since!

@Skyla01 I'm going to just play it by ear and see what my BBT does. I've been trying to cut down on coffee but I'm not sure I can go cold turkey just yet! I'd have a nervous breakdown I think! There is so much advice out there it's impossible to follow it all. I think as long as we're healthy and looking after ourselves then that should be enough?!

Wishing56 · 30/05/2019 21:46

@roo3125 would you suggest keep testing until the line disappears?

@louise190 i am CD14 today. This is my first month using OPKs so trying to get to grips with it all.

Louise190 · 30/05/2019 21:54

@Wishing56 I'm CD14 too! And also first month with OPKs and BBT so I understand what you're saying. I guess it will take multiple cycles to get used to our patterns? Although I'm hoping I don't have multiple more cycles! FYI - I am going to continue testing. I have been testing since CD4 and there has always been a faint line at least.

Louise190 · 30/05/2019 22:12

I am aware I am probably symptom spotting but I feel quite nauseous and have cramps that are a bit sharp/stabby! Could this be OV?

Peachyx2505 · 30/05/2019 22:14

@blackfriars I went for a ladies night at 7dpo last month....and drank because you have to on that kind of night!!! I'm not putting anything on hold just in case I may be pregnant. Once I am of course I won't drink. One thing I've learnt over the last 6 years is Life is too short xx

Roo3125 · 31/05/2019 08:59

@Wishing56 It might never fully disappear as the hormone is always present in some women. I generally still have a faint line any time of the month bad when I have af.

blackfriars · 31/05/2019 10:14

Morning ladies, feeling the OPK pain this morning, I am on day 5 of flashing smiley on the clearblue tests. That's the longest run I've had yet without a static smiley since I started testing! Also annoying timing as we have a friend staying with us this weekend, but just gonna have to fit DTD in when we can. I feel like we are really going to be sick of it by the end of this month!!

Also really shouldn't have done this but had a look at how the next few months would pan out if I did get a BFP this month and the timing would be really good. I know I shouldn't have tempted fate by doing that but just found myself doing the maths in my head before I could stop myself!

@Peachyx2505 and @Wishing56 thanks for your replies - I am going to have a drink or two I think, just not go mad.

Just did another OPK and got the darkest line so far. Super happy with that as thought may have missed it with Tuesdays line.
Will test twice tomorrow!

Skyla01 · 31/05/2019 18:36

Seems like we're all waiting for ovulation!
That's hopeful if the line is getting darker again @Wishing56

Wishing56 · 31/05/2019 18:43

We are all going to be in the TWW together at least. I have a busy few weeks coming up so hoping my TWW doesnt drag like normal.

Roo3125 · 31/05/2019 19:30

@Wishing56 I'd test again tonight! That's what mine looked like an hour before my positive!

Marleym28 · 31/05/2019 21:57

I'm 9dpo with AF expected 5th. I'm usually a 24/25 day cycle but this time it's predicted me 27/28. I ovd late this month.

Is anyone's AF due?

blackfriars · 01/06/2019 08:51

Another flashing smiley today - WTF!!

OP posts:
Dweebette · 01/06/2019 10:14

Still here and also still waiting for ovulation. Started OPKs on Wednesday (CD16). Flo app predicts ovulation today (CD19) but I haven't tested yet as instructions say not to use first wee. Wednesday's test had a very faint line but honestly not sure I did it right (think I left it too long before checking) and have had no line Thursday or yesterday. I can only test at night though as I work long hours and no facility at work to do it. Not sure if that impacts it. DTD every other day from CD14 until AF arrives as irregular cycles mean I have no clue when ovulation is actually going to happen. Anyway feeling like this isn't my month, planning to start temping and using preseed next cycle.

Also, DTD every other day is exhausting and already starting to feel like a chore. Doesn't help that DH is now treating it like a chore, romance out the window Envy

Skyla01 · 01/06/2019 18:42

@dweebette I'm pretty clueless as to my ovulation this cycle too! Who knows what's going on. Was also dtd every other day and just hoping I caught it. On holiday without OH now for the week so no more chances!
Even if we aren't successful this month at least we might have a better idea for the next cycle?

Louise190 · 02/06/2019 08:30

I took another OPK this morning and it is as negative as you can get so I reassessed my info on two apps and now one is saying I'm 4DPO and the other is saying 6DPO. So that's one way to speed up the TWW I suppose, is to not realise you're already in it! We DTD around the potential OV days so we might be in with a chance but I'm not holding out hope!

Wishing56 · 02/06/2019 12:54

Only takes that one time @louise190. Do you test normally early? Or will you wait until AF is due?
