Anyone else right at the start of a new cycle? I could do with some cycle buddies.

I'm 32, cycle 5 and TTC first baby. Regular cycles of 27/28 days.

Feeling bummed today - I really thought this month could be our month after all the DTD! Had my first TTC cry yesterday. Is that pathetic after just 5 months?!

@skyla01 this is my first month using them. I just got some cheap 'One Step' ones off amazon. If these don't seem to work out then I will look at getting the Clear Blue Digital Ovulation tests which give a Smiley Face on the peak day.

I got the cheap pregnancy test strips too as I previously spent WAY too much on tests.

Skyla01 · 28/05/2019 16:56

What time of day do you test with them? I have seen the one step tests, I would probably start with them if I do start to test as they were cheap. I've bought sone cheap one step pregnancy tests- just waiting for a reason to use them...!

Marleym28 · 28/05/2019 17:28

@blackfriars on clue I saw you can log the opk but only has pos or neg. do you just put your static smilie as pos and leave it at that? Or do you track your flasheys?

Louise190 · 28/05/2019 17:30

Hi @Skyla01 I'm CD12 and Glow says OV is due on Thursday. I'm using OPKs and temping and no sign yet, although I couldn't count my temp this morning because I had absolutely no sleep last night. I use the one step OPKs and test with my first wee. Probably the next few days I might test twice a day. Testing might help you learn your cycles sooner if you've just come off the pill!

Skyla01 · 28/05/2019 17:41

@Louise190 thanks, yes that's what j was thinking. Although I was hoping my cycle might become nice and regular so I wouldn't need to use opk. I'll see how it goes but might start using them next cycle.

Wishing56 · 28/05/2019 17:55

I test when i get home from work at 6.30pm. It says to test between 10am-2pm but I dont really want to test at work as it can take 10mins for the result to come up.

Louise190 · 28/05/2019 18:38

@Skyla01 my cycle is very regular, 27 days on average, but I figure we're all different so we may not OV at the exact time the apps say!

Wishing56 · 28/05/2019 18:48

My cycles can be anywhere from 28-36 days so feel like we may have been missing the peak times.

Just done todays's OPK and its darker but not yet positive.

Louise190 · 29/05/2019 06:40

Ok so I am beginning to get a bit concerned now. Glow says OV is due tomorrow, I've been testing every day and they have been negative but there has been a line. I test this morning and there is no line at all?! Was one of the negatives my positive?!
I couldn't record my temp yesterday because I had no sleep so it was through the roof. When I temped this morning it is a .14 increase on the day before yesterday. Help! 😩

Louise190 · 29/05/2019 07:17

I have just put today's OPK in to Glow and it now thinks OV is due Friday. I think we've missed it!

Wishing56 · 29/05/2019 08:14

@Louise190 are you able to take another OPK later today? As far as I was aware your LH levels build throughout the morning so best time to test is in the afternoon.

Wishing56 · 29/05/2019 08:17

You are not out yet so dont worry just keep DTD 😜

I have had friends where the Glow/Ovia/Flo apps have been 1-2weeks out so they are certainly not accurate.

Skyla01 · 29/05/2019 08:56

@louise190 that sounds confusing! I think pinpointing ovulation can be a bit of a dark art at times! Are you able to DTD every 2-3 days anyway? That way you'll still be covered. My app said ov today but I've not had any signs yet so just gonna dtd and hope we catch it!

Roo3125 · 29/05/2019 11:42

@Louise190 I had a positive test on CD13 at 5pm last month but then a positive on CD14 this month but after 8pm (very faint ones just a few hours previous).

I'd be inclined to take them every 2/3 hours when you suspect ovulating and that will give you an idea of when. Usually happens 12-36 hours after your positive OPK.

Ps, I have no idea why this says CD15 as it's definitely 14 🙄

Peachyx2505 · 29/05/2019 11:46

@Louise190 I don't think you should be using first morning wees. Double check the instructions. Pretty sure LH shows better later in the day xx

Skyla01 · 29/05/2019 12:43

Do you guys notice any other signs of ovulation (e.g. ewcm) or do you just tend to go by OPKs? I'm stressing a bit this week as I'm cd14, no ewcm yet, and going on holiday without DP from Saturday. DTD up until Saturday morning but don't want to ovulate whilst I'm away on holiday! Last month I had a few days of ewcm so was expecting the same this cycle.

Louise190 · 29/05/2019 12:54

Luckily we are able to DTD as often as we like and DP is more than happy to oblige! Ok so I will test again when I get home and I will check the instructions about first morning wees! I have just now started getting little scraping cramps so perhaps I'm not out just yet! Thanks everyone!!

Cycle #1
CD - 2
AF/BFP- 24th June ish

Roo3125 · 29/05/2019 18:20

@Skyla01 I have ewcm for a few days and then stomach cramps on one side the day of ovulation. I usually feel a bit nauseous that day too!

Peachyx2505 · 29/05/2019 18:36

@Skyla01 I'm the same as @Roo3125 around ov.

@Louise190 lucky hubby!!! Fingers crossed you haven't ov'd yet 🤞

Welcome @scottishginlover wishing you lots of luck

We went camping for the bank holiday weekend, so ttc has been at the back of my mind. I've not temped in ages 🙈 started my opk as I've had a bit of ewcm today which is way to early. I'm cd11 apparently and usually ov on cd 15/16/17.... never had it this early before. I also had pains in my left ovary area last night at work.... but that's the ovary that isn't there 🤨 who knows what's going on here?!?

Louise190 · 29/05/2019 19:01

I took another OPK this evening and it is still a clear negative. God knows what is going on. I will continue to test and temp and DTD regularly and wait it out!

Louise190 · 30/05/2019 06:13

BBT through the roof today. This app thinks I ovulated yesterday!

Skyla01 · 30/05/2019 08:06

@louise190 what cycle number are you on? I'm also struggling to know when ov is this month, but I'm only on cycle 2 so I still have little idea what's normal for me. I'm feeling a bit better about things this morning and I've decided to go with the flow until my cycle is in a more regular pattern, and then tracking might become easier. Meanwhile I'll try to keep up DTD lots to still give us a chance. It's frustrating though- would love to know exactly what's going on and just get down to business each month!

Louise190 · 30/05/2019 12:36

@Skyla01 I'm on cycle 3. My cycles have always been regular like clock work but I've not tracked anything in more depth until TTC. I'm feeling pretty chilled about it this month, other than the confusion. Give it a couple of days and I'll be going insane I'm sure! It would be lovely if it were a bit more obvious, what's going on, wouldn't it!!

Skyla01 · 30/05/2019 13:01

Definitely! I think we'll just have to be patient and wait and see this month. I'm also keen to know when I ov so I know when to expect af, otherwise it seems like a lot of guesswork for me just off the pill.
