Ok Poppy - please don't hate me for laughing - but all I could think of when you said Nam, was of bearded war veterans talking about Vietnam ... sorry

BabyBratt · 20/07/2007 19:41

Hi Ladies

I've missed so much. Scalett is a beautiful name.

My DH's nickname as a child was Oliver because he always wanted more. Therefore our first baby will either be Oliver or Olivia.

I love Eleanor for a girl Ellie for short. My friend has just called her daughter Evie.

We are undecided whether to have our baby christened or have a naming ceremony in the bandstand where we got married.

Now ladies this is how sad I have become. I sat on my day off and watched the baby channel and saw an interview about 37 degree clothing it is supposed to keep your baby a constant temp and help them to sleep through the night. www.37degreesltd.com/main.html.

padfoot · 20/07/2007 20:21

Hello all,

Nearly got washed away coming home from work today, was going through knee deep water in my little car. (I know it was knee deep cause there were some people who'd broken down in it and were wading out!!) Got home eventually with DH on the mobile telling me which way to go to avoid flooding. Really think that I should get a sat nav, will have to ask Father Christmas nicely...

So come on then - what do you think of baby carriers/slings etc? I want links people! Cheer me up and indulge my inner shopperholic

BabyBratt · 20/07/2007 23:02

You may well have gone to sleep now, my best friends mum is retiring and I have been helping them cater for it tonight.

Padfoot look at this for a sling. Ive never seen anything like this:
babycurls.co.uk/premaxxadventurebabyslingkhaki-4312.php?cPath=827&products_id=4312

I cannot wait to be buying all this stuff for real.

noozes247 · 20/07/2007 23:34

Hi all....May I join the thread? TTC since Dec 05, now contemplating IVF (and 4th cycle of iui later this month / early August!...). So sure I ov'd CD 14 and we had iui (day 13) and lots of great 'bonging' before / around crucial time, but AF arrived bang on time today - I'd even stood on head twice (post bd), as my sis recommended it (she's got triplets aged nearly 15!!) That was after 5.5 yrs ttc, and on her final cycle of metradin (spelling?) before she and DH 'threw in the towel' (neither could face pursuing the IVF route). My being an 'older bird' no doubt really counts against us, but I keep hoping that we may be the lucky ones!!

poppy75 · 21/07/2007 13:35

Welcome noozes247 you're in good company, lots of hugs . Have got my fingers crossed for you. Sorry your AF arrived today it can really make you feel down after two weeks or hoping. Lets hope next month's the month. A baby in early summer would be lovely!! What's iui??? I am being referred onto infertility clinic so will probably be going through the same things. I have 4 days to wait until AF still keeping fingers crossed.

Ready - you are so right have been chuckling to myself as well. Good to run these things past people. I do know a guy called Namir but never associated it with Forest Gump type thing. can't stop laughing now, I guess that cured me of one mad name. It's a good job it is taking me so long to conceive again as it means that they will probably stand quite a good chance of having a relatively normal name.

padfoot · 22/07/2007 18:43

Hi noozes nice to meet you

Where the flip are you all? It's v v quiet on here!

mistlethrush · 23/07/2007 08:55

Wow, what a quiet weekend - was everyone off drowning somewhere? I normally have much more to catch up on on a Monday morning when I get to work .

Padfoot - we managed to get a Baby Bjorn baby carrier from a friend - very useful when out (as longs as its not too cold, or, if it is, you've got a very voluminous coat that will cover both you and baby). I have had some friends with slings - one makes them, so can give you contact if required. However, I have also heard that a friend of a friend went shopping with 6wk old in sling and somehow managed to smother her, so if you go down the sling route, please, please, please make sure that dc's face not too snuggled in. I know that they do work really well for some people, particularly around the house.

Its funny isn't it, that you know that its highly unlikely that you're pg, but you still manage to convince yourself that it might be possible and that the cramps that you're feeling aren't AF on way (they were, of course ). I don't know how I can still sometimes get all worked up about it when its so unlikely (given low bonging rate this month - thanks dh). Had even worked out when dd would be approximately... I could kick myself. I should kick myself. I will kick myself if I do the same next month.

Hi Noozes - although have ds, I'm on this thread for historic reasons and feel 'at home' here, but I know where you're at - ds came along 6 yrs after started ttc, and got to the top of the NHS IVF list twice, although never quite made it to treatment. Both times got to the appointment to set the date and got pregnant naturally just beforehand.

toomuchtimeonline · 23/07/2007 11:20

Hey girls!! Sorry - had an impromptu weekend away so couldn't get on to MN!! Will catch up now and post soon!!

fifilou · 23/07/2007 12:57

Hello!

got a moment to spare so what do i do with it? yup...come here! doh!

Im all good ladies, hope you are too, have been feeling so positive, to the point that if i get my Af nxt wk, im not going to boo-hoo, or maon, or even get down. Its expecting too much to get pg in the 1st try, so im chilling, and going to enjoy life to the max!

Im offf on my daisies on fri to sunny spain with my dbf who found out last month that she cant have children. She is cpoing ok for now, but im being a big arny swartz shoulder for her at the mo, so a week of fun in the sun is just what she needs.

toomuch- i think you asked about my qualifications for being a nanny?

im a fully qualified nursery nurse, also have various other qualifications in speech therapy, baby/child massage, special needs, sports training for children, and have been awarded two high commendations form the prffesional ass. of nursery nurses in 20004 and 2005 prof. nanny of the year wards...oooh get me.little show off!

so any childcare advice, or pram buying.....send it my way!!!!!

digitalgirl · 23/07/2007 14:31

Hi, I'm new on here. Just decided with dh to start trying for our first. We're both self-employed so it means saving up for a bit so I can afford to take 6 months off. So we've agreed to start in October, but the more i think about it the more impatient i get. i know it makes sense to wait otherwise I'll regret it when i have to go back to work due to lack of funds.

BabyBratt · 23/07/2007 15:23

Hi ladies

Nice to see everyone back, I've been really poorly over the weekend and I am still recovering in bed feeling very sorry for myself.

Fi you sound like you have a very successful career.

digitalgirl, firstly Hi and I am self employed and I am a believer in you know when it is the right time for a baby. Im no expert but my mum keeps telling me you will cope with whatever life throws at you.

pixie04 · 23/07/2007 17:08

Hello Ladies,

I'm pretty new to mumsnet.

I'm TTC my first I've been very broody over the last couple of years and now that a second consultant has told me to get myself pregnant (I have endo and ando) I'm now activley trying and have been for over six months.

Feeling a bit down as I was having an excruciating amount of pain last night so much so I went to an out of our doc. She was lovley gave a me a wonderful internal exam and told me that its just AF on the way and the pains are just bad endo. Feel like a prat for going up to see her.

mistlethrush · 23/07/2007 17:08

So, Fi, which pram/buggy will you be getting?

My only slight concerns about Mountain Buggy (which was/is generally fantastic for what we need it for ie going on vigorous dog walks) is that it faced away from me - but I made sure that I was talking or singing quite a lot of the time I was pushing it, and ds also liked watching the dog run after her frisbee - tracked her at an early stage.

BB (((hugs))) hope you're feeling better soon. At least you're not missing any nice weather.

BB/DG - one of NCT antenatal mums had her own company and couldn't stay away as long as 6 months - in fact she has only made the 1st of any of our meet-ups as she is so busy.

I only get/got Stat Mat pay - which is peanuts relatively. So we also need a big cushion in order to cope. I suppose that's one benefit of spending rather a long time ttc 2nd time - will manage to pay off most of debt incurred last time....

fifilou · 23/07/2007 19:13

mistelthrush my lovely! how the devil are you?! - prams? you cant go wrong with a maclaren.

yummy mummys spend far too much on these silly bugaboos (driven one-awful,complicted overpricedc bit of metal)

I like the landrover buggies myself, and as i like running they are paerfect but still dont fld as easily and as flat as a maclaren. Maclaran all the way ladies!

Hi newbies- and welcome, but be wared this place is addictive!

fifilou · 23/07/2007 19:15

ooops...and hi to all i didnt mention....babybratt, thanks my lovely, yes my career is going prettty wel after a rough start. Worked my bum off to be where i am, and the great thing is i can take my baby to work with me.......if i ever get pg that is!!!!

BabyBratt · 23/07/2007 21:01

Hi Fi

It was always a dream of mine to work with children but unfortunately I let my parents talk me out of it because they thought a business degree would be better. I am 30 and even though I have my shop I still have a desire in the back of my mind. I always think (where children are concerned) without firm foundations there can be no building and you help build those foundations. Even though it is hard I am sure you have a lot of job satisfaction.

I like running and I cannot wait to have to purchase a pram. It would be nice to be running and pushing my baby.

Mistlethrush I will take my baby into work, although at the moment I am struggling with my business partner and I need to pluck up courage to approach the issue. I was about to confront her and she got pregnant and then we got robbed. Sometimes I am too nice for my own good. I have been very stressed out with all of this lately which is not helping my attempts at ttc.

BabyBratt · 23/07/2007 21:04

Does anyone know whether Treenie was going away? I might pop in the AN threads to see if she is in there.

poppy75 · 23/07/2007 21:16

Hello

I was wondering what happened to Treenie, she's been away for well over a week, anyone heard anything?

Hello newbies all very welcome, Fi's right its really addictive.

I am feeling really tired today, I think AF is on the way, which is rubbish as I had a great feeling about this month. Since I had M/C have noticed that my boobs are sore from ovulation until AF is this normal??? Anyone know????

So of holidays am dreaming of sunshine

BabyBratt · 23/07/2007 21:26

My bust is sore from ovulation until AF. Also my nipples get bigger and more reactive to cold etc. Sorry if that is too much info

If I am honest I get most of the pg symptoms I even get sickness sometimes.

poppy75 · 23/07/2007 21:35

Oh good so maybe its quite normal. Can't remember what it was like before. I probably didn't take much notice, oh to be like that again!!

What a bummer that we get the 'fake signs' it really does lead to that hope every month.

If AF comes tomorrow I have decided to go out this weekend and buy fabulous dress (have wedding to go to saturday), splash out on new hair do, get very drunk and do everything that I have been trying not to do for conception!!!

nomoremagnolia · 23/07/2007 21:45

Hello everyone, just popping in to say hi, can't really stop at the moment, so it's a good job there's not much to catch up on Changed my name back, couldn't cope with not being recognized! (And have now finished HP7 and wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be)

All well here but v busy - we're off on holiday next week and I've got loads to get done at work before I go, which has not been helped by the flooding here. One of my bases is expected to flood tonight so we had to leave at lunchtime, which means I've got loads of ironing done but none of the work things!

BB my boobs get heavy and sensitive before AF, I never had this before I went on the pill though, so first couple of times I though "ooh, must be a symptom" (Now I just think AF is coming!!)

Hello to DG and Pixie too, welcome to the ttc madness. DG you're very diciplined to come onto MN and not start ttc until oct I couldn't do that!! Now tell me more about yourselves...
