Hello, hope you all had your washes you smelly lot ( at padfoot and toomuch!)

now heres a story to make you jealous-

Today i spent the whole day at legoland! I started work at 8.15am and finished at 7.30pm because we got stuck in traffic, but i dont mind because i had the best time ever and my chrages had giggly fits and smiles all day! I love my job, I love kids, and I just want to say girls this is what its all about- beautiful children! I cant wait (hope!) for it to happen to me and all of you!

lots of lovely legoland luck (o.k, im clutching at every ounce of luck i find, and seeing as there were thousands of children around me today, im sure some positive energy was absorbed!)

Now then, anyone around for a chat? or have i missed you all?

fifilou · 18/07/2007 20:59

boo-hoo.

no-one around!

K then, off for a bath and early bed..am shattered!!!!

padfoot · 18/07/2007 22:13

I'm here now but I guess you've gone oh well.
I'm on CD1 again AF arrived on CD18 Grrr! On a positive note I can start clomid tomorrow and we'll be bonging on holiday (when I was expecting AF to arrive) so not all bad (can you tell I'm desperately trying to find a positive angle to all this?)

mistlethrush · 18/07/2007 23:42

Hi. Just in from doing show (extra hobby that helps pay some bills). Just realised what this looks like. Cooking Show. (Pampered Chef). I now smell slightly of garlic (yum yum) and pesto. Nothing like having a nearly full time job, lots of extra hobbies, 2yo and doing that, but its fun when its going well....

Padfoot - sounds like good news, hope it goes well for you, certainly worked for a friend who (in the profession) thought that she would need more intervention. Happy bonging on holiday!

Poppy/Toomuch - very good friends of ours were trying when we first were - and we were all taking some time. I had my 1st mc in August, followed by 3 months of not getting better then eventually (after several visits to the Doctor (Oh it will sort itself out)) having 2nd D&C and then carted off to Sheffield for chemo for molar pregnancy. It was completely devastating to find out that she was pregnant. Dh told me on New Years Eve - on the basis that all the shit was in one year, and, hopefully, the following year couldn't be so bad. Although I wanted to feel pleased for her, it was so hard, and, despite knowing that she had been trying for a similar time and hadn't had a straightforward time, it still felt unfair that it wasn't me.

Now, despite ds, (but following 2nd mc) it still feels unfair when I see someone with two or more children smoking or giving clearly inappropriate food to todlers.

So you're not alone.

Fi: sounds great. Can't wait to take ds there, although might leave it for a few years so that he can appreciate it a bit better. However, please don't think it's necessarily all roses. As you can imagine, after our problem start, we love ds to bits and feel incredibly lucky (we had decided that we'd try to adopt if molar pregnancy came back, so didn't count on getting our own (genetically) child. However, its not always smooth going... There are times when he drives me spare, and I sometimes have to walk away (at the weekend when dh is there - but have to cope on days off) - he is an individual with his own mind and it can be very difficult at times. I find that its harder work on my 'days off' than it is when I am at work, even though I have a profession that is challenging and interesting.

poppy75 · 19/07/2007 11:21

Thanks MT

Padfoot - are you on clomid because you are not ovulating?? What are the indications for it???

toomuchtimeonline · 19/07/2007 12:11

Poppy - is you dh really keen now? Mine wanted to wait until he was older for so long but now that we've decided he is really excited about it all!!

Fi - very jealous of your day at Legoland! What sort of qualifications do you need to become a nanny//childminer/whatever you are (no offence intended - just not sure what to call you)

Padfoot - positive thinking is good!! Just think of the perfect timing for you hols! When are you going to take the clomid?

MT - what kind of a show were you doing? I'm very impressed by how much you do - I need to become more pro-active!!

mistlethrush · 19/07/2007 12:34

Toomuch - Pampered Chef Cooking show - basically a demo (including cooking) of fantastic cookware - the host (who invites all her friends round) generally gets £50 - £100 of free goods as a result - some shows even better - one last Nov host spent £40 and got £280 of products -not bad for an excuse to invite your friends round for a glass of wine!). I do it becuase I love the range and its quite nice doing something totally different from what I do normally. Also means that dh has to take charge of ds for the night which a) is good for both of them and b) makes him appreciate a bit more what I normally do most nights. The advantages are that I make a little money, have a fun evening out, meet lots of people that I would not do otherwise, and get to get fantastic cookware either free or at a big discount. (sorry, sounds like a bit of a 'sales' rant - not meant to be, just enjoy doing it!). Anyway, if you're interested, I can get you more info if you'd like to have a party or might like something fun to do one or two evenings a week (I don't normally do more than 1, but some people make this their career)

Slightly off-thread, sorry everyone!

Ready · 19/07/2007 13:37

There's a whole bunch of new recruits to this thread that Lottie started oh so many many months ago... perhaps we should start doing the questions things.... names, buggies, etc... What do people think to the name Scarlett?

toomuchtimeonline · 19/07/2007 15:37

Hi Ready!! I like the name Scarlett!! I can't really decide on names - I love lots of the names that people mention but can't come up with favourites of my own.. I think because I had a name I loved and my best mate used it for her first baby and therefore I don't want to get my heart set on anything!

toomuchtimeonline · 19/07/2007 15:38

I love looking at buggies - but again haven't picked one I love yet as haven't wanted to count my chickens so to speak.. Don't think I'll get a bugaboo though..

What other questions were there? And what were your answers..

PinkMartini · 19/07/2007 15:52

Hello everyone, this thread has been going strong.

MT your energy is infectious - I too am very of home grown courgettes.

padfoot sorry to hear about AF but very good news about clomid and holidays mean much more time for sex I find!

poppy/toomuch the everyone around being pregnant is only because you're conscious of it. Obviously we all go thru stages of e.g. weddings, 30th birthday parties babies, etc which doesn't help but it's as much that you're more aware of it.

Hi to everyone else!

Still no news from treenie? Ready I love the name Scarlett but there are loads of em around. I might save it for a middle name - what do you all think of middle names?

toomuchtimeonline · 19/07/2007 16:05

Don't think I'm going to bother with middle names - not that I have anything against them - just we don't have them and I'm struggling enough to come up with first names..

I haven't come across a single Scarlett yet..

Ready · 19/07/2007 16:25

We had loads of questions... how many children would you like, what gaps between? names? stay at home or back to work?, cotbed or crib? , christened or not? and loads more - I think it would be better to just start again. I don't think there are too many of us from when the thread started - and my opinions may well have changed in the last year

I didn't realise Scarlett was that popular - that changes everything. I want something pretty but not too popular. I find girl's names really hard. I've only ever heard of one little girl with the name though.

Toomuch - If you love a name, you should have it, even if someone else has already used it!
Why don't you want a bugaboo? I really like them, and apart from the price, I would love to have one.

Middle names - Well, I personally think that the middle name should be a family name. We already know the middle names we will have. Way premature isn't it!!

Ready · 19/07/2007 16:26

I really love Olivia, but that was number one last year. Gutted

toomuchtimeonline · 19/07/2007 16:48

Olivia is really pretty too! I think girls names are much easier than boys!

I'm just not sure on the bugaboos - my friend has one and its so big and unwielding that I didn't get on with it much.. However, I'm keeping an open mind - once I've had a 20 week scan I'm going to test drive each and every one and enjoy every minute of it before I pick which one I like!! I may start looking properly online now so we can all compare!! Do you have a favourite?

Middle names - I think middle names are nice - I just don't think I will give them to mine.. not sure why - just both of us never talk about using them..

I'd love a huge family - I've been loving watching brothers and sisters at the moment with Calista Flockhart where they've all grown up and they all gossip and go home for dinner and stuff - I reckon that would be amazing!

Age gaps - I'd love to have them really close together so I won't use contraception in between howeover, I accept that it may take a while to conceive..

SAHM - I work in quite a stressful job so I'd love to give it up for a few years and be a SAHM as I don't think I could cope with the hours and a baby.. but it depends on the money and the timing really..

Christened - No

Cot-beds or cribs - absolutely no idea - what's the difference!!? Obviously something I need to research!!

... anyway - there's a start! Lets hear everyone elses and get a good old chin wag going

padfoot · 19/07/2007 17:30

Hiya all
Ready I remember doing all those q's, was wondering about bringing it up again as we had such fun virtual shopping for buggies/bed/clothes and I couldn't think of any new questions! (and things change - I think I might be being tempted by the bug after all )

middles names are already decided in our house as DH family have a tradition of giving grandparent's first names as baby's middle name. Ours aren't too bad and we've come up with some names we like which go with the middle names and our surname. We actually agreed on a name for our first child when we'd only been going out for a couple of months! (sad aren't we )

poppy75 · 19/07/2007 17:38

Good idea wasn't around for the first lot of qu's.

Ready- I think Scarlett is a great girls name, Ruby is quite cute as well. I think boys names are abit more boring. I also have a list of mad names that I would love to choose but they would give them so much hassle at school etc..

My friend has married a native american and has two gorgeous children, the little boy is called Ka'i which means arrow. He is cool enough to carry it off.

Before all these problems with conceiving I thought I'd wait for a few years inbetween to regain body but now I think they'd have to be close together (to hell with the jelly tummy). Twins would be hard work but overall easier (I think).

MT - pampered chef rocks great night out and yummy food as well!!!

Toomuch - DH is very keen now, perhaps its a case of wanting what you can't seem to have

padfoot · 19/07/2007 19:46

Come on then poppy what are the mad names?

Have been reminding myself of the old q's - will write them down and ration them - you're all far too keen

The way we did it before (oh I sound old) was to discuss each thing linking to examples on websites. For example I can't wait to see DH carrying our LO in one of these

padfoot · 19/07/2007 20:22

ps ready - just reading through the old thread and saw you asking about the bug fitting in a fiesta boot, I saw one being loaded into the boot of a new mini the other day, so no worries on the fiesta front (Aslo saw two being taken out of a golf boot the other week, but they did have the big wheels off)

mistlethrush · 19/07/2007 23:00

Speaking as a hardened veteran here, I can tell you that there are 3 Scarlets in ds's group at nursery. One of them a friend's from NCT - she has amazing red hair unlike that others.

We got a mountain buggy. We are constrained because of having to dog walk - needed tough all-terrain model that would go everywhere, including shops and mountains. I can now go down steps without pushing down on the handle and going down on the back wheel. MB goes through 1' high grass, axle deep water/mud and over almost anything. However, the drawback is that it is quite long when it folds up - Polo needed the seat folded down on 1/2 back seat to cope. Absolutely fabulous for what we want, but not for everyone. Used from 2 / 3 wks laid flat, never used car seat fitment. Didn't worry too much about him looking away from me - sang a lot of nursery rhymes, talked a lot, enjoyed watching frisbee thrown for dog.... BTW - if you do get a 3wheeler like the mb, make sure you get one with a swivel wheel at the front. Whilst it doesn't make much difference when you're wheeling it round the shop before trying, or, indeed, when you have an 8wk old in it, believe me, it makes a difference when you have a 2.3 in it and are trying to push it round a very muddy field (guess what I've been doing today)

Christened - yes - lovely local church, part of service (we go there)

Names - family - only trouble is that combination of 1st name and surname is also same as relatively well-known celebrity who shortens the first name... 'Oh, you called him after a famous person' - 'Yes, his great grandfather was a Fellow of the Royal College' reply normally gets them.

Middle names - yes, two. 2nd name is dh, and my f, and my gf. 3rd name family name from dh's family - unsual, so quite nice to be a bit 'different'

Beds - started in moses basket, went onto cot beside bed with side off, then cot in his own room. Just moved into 'big boy' bed from Ikea - with dog and cat on head board (good for getting fingers stuck in th eye sockets).

Other name comments - some names at his nursery at the moment more appropriate for dogs in my opinion (in fact, know some dogs called them) or wouldn't even call my dog that...! Although the worst I have heard is someone calling their son 'Spike' not as a nickname - proper name!

Numbers: 2 would be great, but I'll settle for 1 if need be. Can't complain. You'll all get there at some stage!

Poppy - yes, I even got to eat something last night. THere are times when I do a show and do all the cooking and then go home hungry!

Ready · 20/07/2007 12:06

Padfoot - That is good news about the bugaboo fitting into the fiesta, although at this rate, I will have upgraded to DH's focus! The boot on that is HUGE!
I chuckled at your comment, I felt that way too - how long have we been here huh!! We'll get there chick, it's only a matter of time now! Good thinking with the rationing of the questions
Gotta say, I am scared of those papoose holder thingys... they look cute though. Yay, more links - we had such fun with the links didn't we!!

Come on then poppy - you have to share these mad names with us now! You can't lead us all on like that, and pike out
I find boys names far easier, DH and I could have 10 boys and have no problems with names, but girls are proving more tricky!

Mistlethrush - Seriously? Spike? OMG! As if Spike Lee and Spike Jonze? - he will definitely grow up to be a Film Director!!

Gilly - How you getting on chick?? Tell us the goss?

Toomuchtimeonline - I have been watching that Brothers and Sisters too, really enjoying it actually. Did you see this week, with the whole ttc story??

Ok... I know this is weird... but I came across this... don't ask how... www.kiddicare.com/invt/xdltnyfruozzoran?No=0&N=1163+48 and I think it's cute!! Have I cracked up?

How is everyone else??

Did someone else mention Woodmouse before - I hope she is ok??????? If you are lurking WM - pop in!!

padfoot · 20/07/2007 12:24

I love the link Ready really made me smile - when you get pg I'll buy you one!
Reading through the old thread made me feel quite sad really, I started writing down all those who have come and gone to find out where they are now but the list got really long and I got However I now have a long list of good q's - and I'll dig out my fantasy shopping list to see if there's anything we didn't cover first time round

Ready · 20/07/2007 13:34

Oh no... big hugs Padfoot - it's tough going this ttc malarkey isn't it! Do you know, I really miss LondonLottie - it's funny how much of a bond can be formed on a little forum such as this. I hope that she is back here one day soon.
Crumbs - you are right, when I think of all the people that were here at the start of the thread, it makes me feel quite too - I never thought for a second I would still be here.

poppy75 · 20/07/2007 18:36

Hello back from work and have a spare 5 mins so thought I'd catch up.

Mad names: for a boy I really like Bo (no not boo, would probably get mick taken out of as initial of B.O so only if I win lottery and can afford very rich private school and not local comp) and not so mad Rubens. Nam for girl (means good in one of the African dilects) Can't think of the others but they will come to me later have had many a chuckle over crazy names.

Not so crazy include estelle (it reminds me of the portuguese for star

DH keeps coming up with wierd ones too so I think our children would be doomed to a long childhood with strange name.

poppy75 · 20/07/2007 18:37

Just read my last message and it looks like I must sit and read foreign language dictionaries and then pick a word at random, I don't honestly!!!
