Et voila.

This Hut is more of a Bedouin or desert tent than anything too gloomy. We shall supply our our own gloom.

How about Big Brother style evictions from the hut? If we are forced out maybe our eggs will be forced out in sympathy?
Actually forget that - eviction from the hut with anything other than a BFP is too depressing for me -I need the refuge!! - unless there was a secondary Pit of Gloom to move to!

duchesse · 28/03/2007 12:54

Sorry to hear that, LNO. I believe that many people do several rounds before it's successful. Obviously budgetary constraints come into play at some point.

And re partner swap: anyone want a slightly nerdy scientist with good diy skills but limited emotional iq? Will swap for Colin Firth.

OP posts:
Cryptonomicon · 28/03/2007 16:18

I don't have Colin to offer I am afraid but I do have a lovely speciman of the Kiwi variety, very useful for all DIY and IT related problems (just don't tell him you are ovulating or you will be out of luck )

lissielouwithbunnyears · 28/03/2007 16:55

hi all, have had an mn break, are you all well?

duchesse · 28/03/2007 21:32

A four-day break, lissie. Impressive will power.

Where is everybody though? It's awfully quiet in here. I wanted to share a little wistfulness about all my old ante-natal thread babies being born... I am happy for them though. I know Vlad wasn't healthy enough to make it.

OP posts:
sideways · 28/03/2007 21:49

That must be really hard duchesse. I guess some kind of morbid curiosity keeps pulling you back to the thread as well.

duchesse · 28/03/2007 22:43

Curiosity, yes. I'm trying to imagine what it would be like still to be there. Deep down I know it's just as well I miscarried when I did, rather than later or actually give birth to a fatally damaged child (it is likely that the miscarriage was due to anencephaly, where the brain and skull fail to develop properly). Not really morbid though since it's about birth and babies.

BeckleSpeckledEgg · 29/03/2007 00:43

Oh duchesse, poor you, I don't know everyone's stories cos not been here long enough but is sounds like you have had a hard time of it.
for you too LNO

Impatience · 29/03/2007 09:29

Duchesse, I don't think i could stay away from the old antenatal thread if I were you. I would be very aware that the baby would have been born about now, and I'm sure I couldn't stop wondering how different today would be if it had. Hell, I do that anyway and I've never had a due date. I'll be popping in here throughout the day if you still want to have a chat. (Not 'pooping in', as accidentally typed: that would be an altogether different contribution...Might take your mind off things though )

sideways · 29/03/2007 09:32

Morbid as in

"suggesting an unhealthy mental state or attitude; unwholesomely gloomy, sensitive, extreme"

Impatience · 29/03/2007 09:33

BTW, did anyone post an enquiry about spontaneous ovulation? What was the consensus?

(I don't go on any other threads now. Occassionally I do the inevitable and open one titled along the lines of 'I have 7 children already, really really don't want any more, am on the pill, have a coil and use a condom, only had sex once last month during my period and I think I'm pregnant, what's the best way to get rid of it?' or 'Always wanted children but we only decided last week that we'd now go for it, now my boobs are massive, I'm throwing up and I've had a blue line, do you think I'm pregnant?' Don't know why I do it to myself, it's like I'm drawn to the self-harm. Ho hum.)

Impatience · 29/03/2007 09:34

Goodness Sideways, I reckon that's all of us!

sideways · 29/03/2007 09:39

I do that too impatience, and inevitably end up swearing at the computer screen in disgust.

I didn't post the thread on spontaneous ovulation. Chickened out after people on here thought it sounded ridiculous.

I still might though, see if it can draw Attila the Meerkat out to give her opinion.

Sunshinedays · 29/03/2007 09:43

Morning!

Didn't think it was rediculous to post it, Sideways, I thought it would be fun.

I'm in on the sweepstake on speed of ATM's response. Hmmm, £1 on 9 minutes.

Impatience · 29/03/2007 09:47

I bet a quart of vodka on it being after exactly 3 people have said they think there's something in it.

Sunshinedays · 29/03/2007 10:10

Impy - you are not allowed to change your name and post 3 times - that's naughty

Impatience · 29/03/2007 10:19

Busted!

Impatience · 29/03/2007 10:21

Does anyone use Freecycle? I'm trying to join but it links me to yahoo and I don't want a yahoo account. Is this just what I have to do? (apologies for distinct lack of relevance to this thread!)

Sunshinedays · 29/03/2007 10:28

Oh - not heard of that - does it give you one cycle a year without PMT, pain or symptom spotting? Sign me up.

Impatience · 29/03/2007 10:35

tee hee hee

duchesse · 29/03/2007 10:50

Imp, I have a Freecycle account but probably not for your area. I can sign up for your area too if it would help, and advertise whatever it is on your behalf, but I'm not taking the calls or emails! And you will get a lot, believe me.

Sideways: I know, I know. Am trying to stop, really I am.

OP posts:
Sunshinedays · 29/03/2007 11:11

Duchesse - How does looking at the threads make you feel? Even if it is painful it may be a necessary part of your grieving and might help you come to terms with stuff - even if you may think you've done so already.
If looking, reading, perhaps participating moves you in any way (good or bad) it may not be a negative thing so long as you feel it is moving you on.
On the other hand, if you feel you are stuck in a stagnant grey cloud of smog, then come and sweat it out here, and leave the other threads alone - it's partly what the hut is here for.

Hmm - stagnant? sweaty? smog? not sure I choose great words there. Hope YSWIM?

Impatience · 29/03/2007 12:11

Hmm, Sunshine's abode sounds yummy...

Duchesse, thanks for the Freecycle offer. I'd like to join it myself but appear to be utterly technically incompetent! So, when I click 'Join us' and it takes me through to a yahoo email account setup, do I need to set one up? Ie, can't I use one of my other two accounts?!

Anyone want some Ikea furniture: some billy bookcases and a fairly large TV unit? Trick is you need to come collect from me in the north west. (If you're one of my FTC buddies we could crack open an actual bottle of wine)

Impatience · 29/03/2007 12:12

Duchesse, what I meant to say was thanks for the offer but I'll join up myself. See, uttlerly incompentent. And I leave the typos to prove it.
